We stopped at this winery on our way to Leesburg for lunch and some wine tasting. Ryan, the manager took great care of us. We had delicious sou and sandwiches on a wonderful baguette. The wine was actually very good. The whites were crisp and fruity and the reds had a great finish. We enjoyed the ambiance very much. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful winery! Plenty of parking. When we arrived, there were people to greet to show how to order and our interests. You can also do a tasting in the cave, have a tour or the cave. There is plenty of outdoor seating, music playing and food. It is a 21 plus winery, and outside food not permitted.

Boxwood winery is stunning from start to finish. The tasting room, the barrel room, even the bathroom are all breathtaking. Then you try the wines and WOW. I honestly couldn't choose a favorite because each one was better than the one before I went home with a few bottles and my friend joined the highest level wine club so we can all return and enjoy the perks together. I wouldn't normally commit to that many bottles of wine from one winery but here, 36 isn't too many at all. They have exceptional wines at all price points. They also sell food which is a huge plus. We were the only group there on Presidents Day, so I hope they have more business on weekends!

My wife and our friends came here on whim today. I don't know a lot about wine but I know good service. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. I didn't catch all their names but Carolyn and Marcus, in particular, were phenomenal. They took the time to welcome us and talked with us for a while, not only about the wine. Bonus points for Marcus for tipping me off to a local bourbon drop. I had the Cupola white wine. Crisp, refreshing, and very tasty! At the end our visit we got speak with the Assistant wine maker, Rebecca, who was also a delight! Very sweet and knowledgeable. Her passion for wine was as bright as the Cupola.

We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the welcoming staff to the intimate cave wine tasting. This was such a memorable experience. Our wine guide, Carolyn made the experience 10 times better with her knowledge and just energy. The ambiance was absolutely romantic and they truly made us feel special. We had the cave tasting experience with charcuterie snd got a few treats as part of the celebration. 10/10 recommend.

This is such a cute place! The wines were all super tasty. Definitely want to come back to try food or a wine dinner. Staff was very nice and sat us for our flights in the room with the wine bottling machines. Very cool!!

First, a shoutout to our wine server, Hannah, who was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wines without ever making us feel like we needed a sommelier certification to enjoy them. She guided us through the $20 tasting, which included a wonderful mix of whites and reds. It worked out perfectly because I'm a white wine fan while my husband prefers reds, so naturally we shared every pour and declared ourselves a two-person tasting committee. Now let's talk about the food. The truffle popcorn should probably come with a warning label because it is highly addictive. We kept saying "just one more handful" until the bowl mysteriously emptied itself. The fresh baguette with pimento dip was equally delicious and paired beautifully with the wines. The winery offers plenty of seating options, whether you prefer lounging on the grass, relaxing indoors, or enjoying the covered patio. We chose the covered patio, which provided the perfect balance of fresh air, vineyard views, and shade. And yes, I'm actually going to mention the bathrooms. They were some of the nicest winery restrooms I've encountered--modern, spotless, stylish, and clearly well-maintained. It's one of those little details that says a lot about the overall experience. Great wine, delicious food, beautiful setting, immaculate facilities, and outstanding service from Hannah. Greenhill Vineyards has earned every one of these five stars. We'll definitely be back for another "research trip" in the near future.

We came here first before heading to brunch and a second winery, and honestly, it set the tone for the entire day. The grounds are absolutely beautiful--peaceful, scenic, and everything you want when you're trying to escape the city for a bit. The wine selection is solid, and everything we tried was smooth, well-balanced, and easy to enjoy with friends. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax, take your time, and be present. What I love most about Greenhill is the vibe--it feels elevated without being pretentious. Just good wine, great views, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. If you're planning a Middleburg wine day, start here. You won't regret it.

My friend had the strawberry sour cocktail, and I had one made with gin and lemon called Marc c --both were delicious. We also tried several of the ciders, which were a little sweeter than my personal preference, and the wine was just OK. That said, I have to admit we had just come from several wineries, so the wine had some tough competition! Simple questions about the wines were met with "I don't know, ask someone else," which took away from the experience. Later, family and friends joined us, bringing the group to around 14 people. Everyone continued purchasing wine, drinks, and food throughout the visit, but the manager told us we needed to move outside despite many open tables being available. We offered to split into smaller groups, but the situation quickly became confrontational and included threats to remove us from the property. Had there been policies for larger groups or additional fees, we would have completely understood if they had been communicated upfront. Instead, the interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming. Beautiful property, but unfortunately the hospitality did not match the setting.

Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing winery visits I've ever had. What started as a small group of four gradually grew as friends and family who were already wine tasting in the area stopped by to say hello and join us. Once management expressed concern about the group size, we immediately offered to separate into smaller groups and fully complied when asked to move outside. Despite this, the manager, Don, repeatedly threatened to remove us from the property and later doubled down on those comments when I spoke with him privately away from the group. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the property and indoor seating areas were largely empty at the time. We had already purchased multiple bottles of wine, people in our group were continuing to buy food and drinks, and there were several open tables available. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and disproportionate to the situation. Even more confusing, during my private conversation with Don, he mentioned there was a higher-priced option available for larger groups -- but this was never offered to us beforehand. Had that been communicated respectfully, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, the approach was confrontational from the start. Unfortunately, the poor experience extended beyond the seating issue. Early in the visit, when we asked staff basic questions about the wines and the property, the responses were dismissive and uninformed. One employee repeatedly told us "I don't know" when we asked about the wines, the grapes grown on-site, and even what was being served in the frozen wine machine. Part of the joy of visiting wineries, for me, is learning about the wines and engaging with staff who are passionate about the experience, and that hospitality was completely absent here. There are many wonderful wineries in the area that make guests feel welcomed and valued. Sadly, this was not one of them. We left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and disappointed after what should have been a celebratory afternoon.
