I've been to a lot of wineries, and like I said, no exaggeration, this is the best experience I've ever had. The fact that their Library Tasting experience is just 1 of 6 experiences they offer is insane (amazing). You can even customize your experience to mix and match. I prefer sweeter wine and was a little nervous learning they didn't have any, but when I tell you every wine I tried was perfect, I really didn't need a sweet wine. A lot of the time, when you hear 'dry' you assume a wine might not be smooth or but their wines are smooth, balanced, and excellent quality. I tried wine that had fruit forward profiles, like their Crémant 2024, Sauvignon Blanc 2020, and Rosé 2020. The food was also so good! Like I said, I would have taken seconds if that was allowed . Also, the communication prior and service was excellent. Erin (the GM) and Hannah were so awesome and knowledgeable. It's also nice to know you can fine their wine locally at King Street Oyster Bar and a few other spots. Perfect for celebrations or just wanting to get together. I was trying to figure out how they knew it was my birthday recently but I forgot I casually mentioned it while talking to the GM as I was trying to figure out a date that would be great to come. Just beautiful. Outdoor seating is available too which you will see as you walk to the front door. Wonderful experience. My friend and I did the cave experience for my Bday. You're surrounded by barrels of wine. Ps. A tad chilly in there. Bring a light sweater or jacket, if you get cold easily! The charcuterie board is a must! We both were wow'd by the mango and ginger cheese!! Yummmmy. I gotta find me some back home! The wines were amazing and just so you know, they have nice big glasses and quite generous pours. We stopped at this winery on our way to Leesburg for lunch and some wine tasting. Ryan, the manager took great care of us. We had delicious sou and sandwiches on a wonderful baguette. What a beautiful winery! Plenty of parking. When we arrived, there were people to greet to show how to order and our interests. You can also do a tasting in the cave, have a tour or the cave. There is plenty of outdoor seating, music playing and food. It is a 21 plus winery, and outside food not permitted. read more

Boxwood winery is stunning from start to finish. The tasting room, the barrel room, even the bathroom are all breathtaking. Then you try the wines and WOW. I honestly couldn't choose a favorite because each one was better than the one before I went home with a few bottles and my friend joined the highest level wine club so we can all return and enjoy the perks together. I wouldn't normally commit to that many bottles of wine from one winery but here, 36 isn't too many at all. They have exceptional wines at all price points. They also sell food which is a huge plus. We have been touring two Loudoun wineries a day for the last four days We were disappointed not to be able to purchase a flight for a wine tasting as with the other wineries.The only options were glass, half bottle or bottle. We purchased a half bottle of Trellis and were not impressed. Non members are required to sit outside the entrance within large stone walls that significantly block the beautiful view. My wife and our friends came here on whim today. I don't know a lot about wine but I know good service. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. I didn't catch all their names but Carolyn and Marcus, in particular, were phenomenal. They took the time to welcome us and talked with us for a while, not only about the wine. Bonus points for Marcus for tipping me off to a local bourbon drop. I had the Cupola white wine. Crisp, refreshing, and very tasty! At the end our visit we got speak with the Assistant wine maker, Rebecca, who was also a delight! Very sweet and knowledgeable. Her passion for wine was as bright as the Cupola. read more

We were so excited to try this winery as we had heard amazing things about the wine, the service and the ambiance. We were especially looking forward to trying some wines in the wine cave. First, we couldn't figure out where the entrance was as there were no signs. When we walked into the place, the person at the wine counter didn't engage. He didn't acknowledge or welcome us into the place. It wasn't as if the place was packed- there were 2 other people having a glass of wine in the entire place. The service was lackluster, he handed us the 4 wines for the flight and told us to sit wherever we'd like. All of this could be overlooked if the wine lived up to the expectations- sadly not the case. The wines were a disappointment and sub par. The sulfite levels can be tasted within the first two sips - perhaps the wine had been open for too long? I sure hope others have a better experience than we did. read more

There are so many wineries in NOVA and so few would I actually recommend. Boxwood is one. The wine was good and, more importantly, they served food that is substantial. Best Winery Ever! Boxwood (and its entire staff) helped me with my surprise proposal, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Very responsive and helped me plan the whole thing! We started out with a tasting in the cave room (highly recommend!!!) where we had some great wine and a delicious charcuterie board waiting for us. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the Boxwood Winery and Estate in Middleburg, VA. We had booked both, the Estate Pairing of Wines with hors d'oeuvres and also their Guided Winery Tour. Upon arrival our knowledgeable tour guide Mark showed us how Boxwood Estate Wines were made, bottled, stored and fermented, he guided us from area to area, ending in the Cave, which is where all the oak wine barrels are stored. Mark then escorted us to our table for the Estate Wine Paring. As he described the experiences, the hors d'oeuvres arrived. Delicious! In the center of the temperature regulated Cave is where there seemed to be a hundred wine oak barrels stored. What a cheerful feeling, although a bit chilly our guide gave us a couple wool wraps to keep us warm. The Boxwood Winery is kept meticulous and sparkling clean, we felt like royalty. I would highly recommend the Boxwood Winery. It was a special day, reasonably priced and their membership is free. We loved the wine! Did I mentioned we loved the WINE, especially the Reserve 2022.. What a find! First of all, ALL the wine is delicious here. Which is a rarity for a VA vineyard. As an example, I hate roses, and this rose was so smooth and light and drinkable. Second, our cave tasting paired with cheese and charcuterie was super romantic--just a really nice set-up, and really good cheese and meats. And third, the staff were all so friendly. We can't wait to come back here. And signed up for a membership without flinching--even though we certainly don't need another one and weren't planning on it. The wine is *that* good. 4.5 stars - came here about a month ago on a beautiful, perfect fall day. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We came during the day on a weekday, so for most of our time there, we were the only group. I could see this place getting very, very busy on the weekends, though. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and helped us get set up at one of their fire tables outside. The interior of the winery is a bit strange, and I would probably personally avoid coming on a day where the weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside, so that could deff be improved on. That said, the big selling point of this place is the scenery, so I would probably want to always sit outside anyway! We all shared a cheeseboard, which was huge with generous portions, and after each got a sandwich, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The wine was quite good, though not my #1 for the area, and I thought the bottles were a bit overpriced. They do let you get 1/2 bottles of some wines, so we wound up getting 1.5 bottles for 4 adults, which was enough for us. We took a few bottles home, and I look forward to cracking one open soon. Just did the four wine tasting with a meal for $120 per person. The wine was delicious, but the food wasn't even enough to be an appetizer, but was priced like a three course dinner. The food was supposed to be hot, but it also came out cold. It was all very disorganized as when we walked in the door, no one greeted us and it appeared the same for all the other guests. Great visit on a hot Sunday, we were impressed by the fair prices and the gorgeous vineyards which made you feel like you were in California. There is some indoor seating and a unique chance to pay to sit in the cave area too. The staff was super friendly and helpful and gave great food recommendations. We really enjoyed the grape leaves, spicy arincini with spicy queso dip, and the sandwiches. We did a wine tasting of the light wines and then took a walk with a glass to the gorgeous outdoor terrace tucked away in the grapes. I was so excited to try this winery and showed up with my family and clearly vested service dog and was told by the hostess, Hannah, that dogs aren't allowed. When I explained she's a service animal protected by the ADA, Hannah and her manager doubled down and demanded a "service dog ID." I don't have a service dog ID as that's not a real thing. But I do have her training papers and my notes from my doctor. They didn't want that though, Hannah specified she needed her "service dog ID". Spoiler: that's not a thing. My dog didn't take a driving test. They also failed to ask the only two questions the ADA actually allows. Disabilities aren't always visible, but apparently ignorance is. Would they have treated me differently if I had a cane? Probably. We left and went to a nearby Vineyards instead, where they actually know how to treat people with disabilities as equals and with respect. Boxwood should spend more time learning federal law, especially training management and Hannah on it! read more

We had a great time here. I wish I had called to see if it was possible to extend our reservation because coming in at 11 am, we were the only party there. The wine was great, our server Marcus was awesome, and the sandwiches a few of us got were solid. Found this winery randomly on yelp, google and Instagram! Got my girls together and we decided to do a brunch board in the cave for our Sunday funday. We got 6 tastings a mix of white and red, our assorted brunch board (cheese, meats, cinnamon rolls, quiche, croissants, fruits, nuts and chocolates). I wish the quiche and croissants were warmed up. We were also under the impression that we would each get our own brunch board but that sadly wasn't the space. The brunch board was perfect for 2 people to split but for 3 it would've been nice to have more. All the wines were delicious. I made a same day reservation here on a Saturday as I was in the area with a friend for around 2:30 PM. By the it was starting to rain and folks that were sitting outside were encouraged to sit inside and continue to enjoy their wine. We were able to get a seating for two inside and the hostess was very friendly. She walked us through the different wine pairings and foods that we could order. I made a reservation ahead of time. Upon arriving it was a small building but was pleasantly surprised at how modern the interior was. We did both the light sips and red blends flights to figure out what bottle to enjoy. The light sips were Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Rose 2019 and Trellis 2018. The red blends were Trellis 2018, Trellis 2016, Topiary 2017 and Topiary 2016. We opted to get a bottle of the Trellis 2016 which is 57% Cabernet Franc, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot and 10% Merlot. This was fairly dry and full bodied. As the bottle sat, I was disappointed that the taste wasn't as good as when we first opened the bottle. We each had a glass, corked it and headed to our bed and breakfast. I probably would not come back given that there are so many wineries in Virginia. Out of the 4 wineries in Middleburg we visited, this one was 2nd or 3rd place. read more
