The establishment is run down, hardly any seating, hot, messy, and the staff look hot, miserable, and just trying to make a living, not give a good experience (understandably so.) The treatment depends on the day - which means how hot it is, where you're from, and how nice you are to them. Chubbies food is definitely everything they said it is in a good way. Chicken is it's on definitely has a homestyle taste and awesome crunchy texture. The service was on point when I arrived. I wanted a five-piece dark but they only had two left so you offered me a couple of breasts instead but I decided to wait and it was worth it with three thighs and two legs hot and fresh out the fryer. The ambience where you not going for the ambiance you going for the food and it definitely have that going for it when you walk inside. It is a new year and I still think that they are better than Popeyes! Biscuits are still buttery and flaky. I ordered a 5pc strips dinner (drive thru) with an extra biscuit for me and my child. My total was $12.71. The strips were so big; we were able to save some for later. read more

Ok so I popped in here literally 5-10 minutes before they closed and I honestly didn't think they'd let me order but they did and I'm so grateful. The food was sooo good. Let me start with the red beans because I have never ordered red beans and felt like somebody mama cooked them for real. Popeyes and everybody can take a seat because the beans HIT!! Next the potato salad....I was skeptical because it was a little too white for my liking but once I tasted it, I was hooked. The chicken is good too but not the best I've had. Yet I'll be back cause chicken is still good and with the bomb sides, it's a go for me. Yet my favorite part of the meal was the BISCUIT....soft, fresh, buttery, flaky! After many many years I finally tried the famous Chubbie's. Now the chicken was really flavorful but everything I had was cold. The wing was like it was straight out of the fridge. I was disappointed because the chicken, biscuit and fries were really good and in spite of the old grease unfortunately. The biscuit was a little on the greasy side but it didn't take away from the flavor. I found the breast to have a little spice to it which wasn't bad at all. This is great chicken. It's very well seasoned, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Just one more thing to keep me on that treadmill. True story, I was on an errand in this neighborhood and when I saw the line, I made a quick u-turn in the middle of the road and headed back. I saw folks eating this food in their cars and work vehicles. I said to myself, self, this must be some good ole fashioned fried chicken. Self said, let's try it. Placing my order, I asked a lady eating in her car how was it and she handed me a wing lol. It was great, so I ordered the wings, white beans and it comes with a biscuit. Just had a 30 minute wait for a doordash order. I was not the only dasher in there waiting. The cook that was there was making everything before the doordash orders. While I was waiting, easily 5 customers came in, ordered and got fully served BEFORE the cook even started working on my doordash order. It took long enough that my customer messaged me and asked what was taking so long and when I told her, she said I didn't have to waste my time continuing to wait. I understand that doordash drivers can be rude, but I am/was not, and the answer to that is not to be rude in return. The doordash driver is NOT your customer, its the person waiting for the food, whose business you could lose. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience at Chubbie's today. They are having a special -buy 5 wings, get 2 pieces of fried chicken free. We placed an order and paid for 2 of the 5 wing specials. When we got home only 1 of the 5 wing specials was in our bag. My daughter drove back to Chubbie's and the manager told her that she didn't believe that she hadn't received the entire order. So, I called the establishment and spoke with the manager who told me she couldn't afford to give out food every time someone claimed there was an issue with their order. She actually hung up on me twice. I'm am extremely disturbed about how rude and unprofessional the owner/manager was with me and my daughter. I'm also hurt (which is foolish of me) because I'm not accustomed to being handled soo harshly. Lesson learned. I'm never spending money at Chubbie's again. read more

If you think your local fast food chicken spot is a contender, you have never been to Chubbie's. This place puts the smack down on just about any chicken place you've tried. I've tried plenty myself, but nothing compares to this literal mom and pop chicken joint. Set in the heart if the Westbank, Chubbie's is nothing much to look at from the outside, and the dining hall only fits roughly a dozen people. The lines are always long during lunchtime, but magically they move fast. If you're lucky you might get a seat. None of those things will matter when you get your food. If you don't make the cut for a seat, I guarantee nobody will judge you for sitting in the car to feast. Their chicken is AMAZING! It's flavored to perfection and super crispy. You can also get a great deal on a chicken box, if you want to feed the family or friends. Their chicken sandwich is the bomb too, and they never run out, like that other subpar fast food joint. ;) The sides are dynamite, and they have great daily specials, seafood poboys and an extensive menu aside from just chicken. Perhaps my favorite item on the menu is their delicious and flaky biscuit. It is so buttery and fluffy. We drive there just to get two dozen biscuits, to keep in the freezer for breakfast and snacking. I love this place. I am so grateful to live only 8 minutes away! read more

My absolute, hands down, FAVORITE local fried chicken spot! Their chicken is insanely flavorful and their onion rings are the very best I've ever had in my life. As someone who, unfortunately, was a frequent Popeyes flyer, I have to say that I'll never go to another chicken chain if I don't have to after discovering Chubbie's. This place puts Popeyes to shame and there's nothing better than supporting a local business than a massive corporation with crappy product. My only gripe is that they aren't open more often! Their hours are quite limited and it seriously bums us out when we won't make it there after school/work during the week because they close at 4pm. But, we can deal. If anything, that just speaks to how much we love this place... we plan our days (when we plan to have chicken for lunch/dinner) around when Chubbie's is open. I really enjoyed this place. Westbank does not have much food options compared to other areas in the parish. Their service is great and super friendly. I placed a phone order to pick up at 5:40 and it was right on time. Their lobby is still closed but someone will unlock the doors for you if you walk in to pick up. I saw that there is a really convenient drive thru order system. When you walk inside, the prep area appeared to be very neat and tidy. There was not an old oil smell or any sticky oily feeling when you walk in. That is always a good sign. I got home and my chicken was still hot and crispy. The portions of the sides and chicken were really generous. 12 piece with two large sides and 6 biscuits for 25.99 plus tax? I'd much rather take the drive there to pick than order at Popeyes down the street from my house. Can we also talk about how good the sides were?! The red beans and rice and the buttered biscuits were really yummy. You could really taste the love put into it. The only day they open til 6 are Fridays. Chicken was great but I also got the spaghetti plate. The spaghetti plate had 3 meatballs that tasted frozen and hardly any pasta. The salad is shredded lettuce and two pickles and the garlic bread tasted like it was yesterdays. Wish I would have taken a picture. Not worth the price. Recommend the chicken. read more
