Ok so I popped in here literally 5-10 minutes before they closed and I honestly didn't think they'd let me order but they did and I'm so grateful. The food was sooo good. Let me start with the red beans because I have never ordered red beans and felt like somebody mama cooked them for real. Popeyes and everybody can take a seat because the beans HIT!! Next the potato salad....I was skeptical because it was a little too white for my liking but once I tasted it, I was hooked. The chicken is good too but not the best I've had. Yet I'll be back cause chicken is still good and with the bomb sides, it's a go for me. Yet my favorite part of the meal was the BISCUIT....soft, fresh, buttery, flaky! We also ordered catfish which was real catfish. My only complaint is I wish they were open a little later and on weekends. This would definitely be my Saturday spot if so.

I love going to Chubbie's because they are one of the few places where i can get fried livers and gizzards. They fry them to order and they are delicious. The price is good too.

After many many years I finally tried the famous Chubbie's. Now the chicken was really flavorful but everything I had was cold. The wing was like it was straight out of the fridge. I was disappointed because the chicken, biscuit and fries were really good and in spite of the old grease unfortunately. The biscuit was a little on the greasy side but it didn't take away from the flavor. I found the breast to have a little spice to it which wasn't bad at all. I definitely will be giving this place another try. If you're in the area, try it out.

I'm not sure what happened, but I ordered a 2 piece white with fries and a biscuit for lunch and my chicken was BURNT! I could not eat the skin at all and I love the crunchy parts. The fries were not seasoned at all. I have never had problems with food here in the past, I'm hoping it was just a bad day. I couldn't finish my food because of the burnt chicken and unseasoned fries, so of course money was wasted. The biscuit, however, is still delicious.

This is great chicken. It's very well seasoned, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Just one more thing to keep me on that treadmill. True story, I was on an errand in this neighborhood and when I saw the line, I made a quick u-turn in the middle of the road and headed back. I saw folks eating this food in their cars and work vehicles. I said to myself, self, this must be some good ole fashioned fried chicken. Self said, let's try it. Placing my order, I asked a lady eating in her car how was it and she handed me a wing lol. It was great, so I ordered the wings, white beans and it comes with a biscuit. Not a fan of the white beans but I went back and tried their red beans and they were excellent. Now I see why the line was so long and people couldn't wait to eat it lol. It's certainly worth the wait but their line moves pretty good.

    Best chicken in Algiers!

Grew up on chubbies in Algiers since I was a little girl and it is always amazing. Best chicken in Algiers!

I was able to eat two times from this plate! It's a great price for the amount of food you get. I'm not a huge fan of read beans, so I have to be in the mood for them. I was intent on having red beans today and these are perfect! Seasoned very well and not too salty. The shrimp are a good size and crispy! Everything was hot and fresh!

So by the time we came it was past our reservations. Also, we waited a long time maybe around an hour in the lounge area just ordering drinks where I felt we could have just eaten because after our table was ready they said we could sit there when we were already sitting. They did have a good happy hour menu. However, blueberry lemon drop was very sweet, and the lemon drop. I felt that the drinks were not good but way on the sweeter side and not enough alcohol. For my food, I ordered the happy hour hot sausage taco and salmon. I felt that it could have been better. The tacos weren't all that great or cooked to profession like I thought they would be. I guess since I order just tacos it's really hard to say about the other food options which I heard is really good. So if I do come back to New Orleans and I come back here I will try I entrée instead. Overall, my experience this time was a 3/5. Also, it wasn't really modern and I felt that the bar was very small and tight and I didn't like the seating outside. I feel like it's more of a place to come hang out and just grab a drink, and enjoy happy hour if you do come. I highly recommend making reservations. -Marshay D.

It was satisfyingly crispy, absolutely mouthwatering, expertly candied, topped with a generous dusting of praline, giving it an additional sweet taste and adding another layer of deliciousness to it. For my brunch meal, I ordered the Smothered Smoked Pork Chops with potatoes, eggs, and biscuit. The Pork Chops were tender with great smoky flavor, while the accompanying white, savory sauce was tasty and well seasoned with bits of meat. It was just a bit too fatty for me. Potatoes were also yummy, cooked perfectly, and slightly crispy. I requested the eggs to be fried over hard, and it was a bit weird, because the yolk seemed to be mixed in. It was also a little bland. Biscuit was too dry. Overall, this was a nice place to have brunch. Service was solid. The waitress was super friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. I would consider returning just to get the Bacon Praline again! I was also intrigued by the Waffle and Duck Hash with sweet potato, so want to try that dish.

First, chargrilled oysters were delicious! They were piping hot and seasoned to perfection. I had seafood gumbo which was a solid 8. Being from Southern California, there is a bit of a difference. Our seafood gumbo has snow or king crab legs and is filled with more protein. Most N.O. restaurants only add shrimp + chicken + sausage. Though this one only had one small crab claw and little protein, I was excited to find an authentic roux. Greens were flavorful with a little kick. My Malibu rum and pineapple juice had a dehydrated pineapple on top and was refreshing. My friend ordered the fried chicken and enjoyed it. She was not a fan of the braised cabbage. She enjoyed the yams and cornbread which I don't eat. She also ordered some type of speciality drink, hurricane maybe?? Her eyes were blown away when the bill showed it was $30. Beware!! We stumbled upon J&J on Yelp while visiting from out of town for a volleyball tournament. The reviews were great, and the fact that it's a standalone, independent restaurant -- not a chain -- made it even more appealing. Since we were heading out of town that same day with no hotel room to return to, sitting down to eat simply wasn't an option for us. We had to make the tough call to find somewhere else.
