It was our first time dining at this dim sum restaurant. The outside listed this restaurant as Fortune, but the receipt listed it as Chubby Boy BBQ. I don't know which name is the correct one. We had lunch there prior to flying back home. We had all our lugguage with us and there was plenty of room for our luggage. In fact, it wasn't that busy that Saturday morning. The restaurant started to get busier as we were done dining there. We had stuffed mushrooms (was disappointed that they were stuffed with regular button mushrooms and not Chinese mushrooms, I won't order them again), steamed beef tripe, beef rice noodle, steamed beef ball, fried taro and sticky rice in lotus leaf. The dim sum dishes were overall good. The tea was very disappointing because it didn't taste fresh at all and they charged $1.25 per cup. Came back here with a friend after a good experience here last time with my family. We got the Lobster Noodle promo, which they raised the price for, but it was still good and worth it. We also wanted to order the Lamb Hotpot, but our server said they were out. It was a Wednesday afternoon at 830pm - hence dinner hour, but unfortunately nothing else looked quite as appetizing. So docked a star for that dissapointment. But lobster noodles were still delicious, I'll give them that. I also docked another star because although the restaurant was spacious and clean, ambiance wasn't good. It was eerily quiet. The TV was on, but there was no music or anything. There was only one other couple at another table - who left before we finished our meal, who laughed when they overheard me ask my server to put on music or something, the ambiance doesn't feel comfortable. My friend used the restrooms here, and he also said they looked haunted. So I passed on that - asked for extra napkins to wipe my hands after having the lobster, then washed my hands at the restroom of the next place I was going to that night. Would I recommend? On the outside, the restaurant is called "Fortune" but it seems to be a combo of Chubby Boy BBQ and the Noodle Man restaurant as well as Fortune for dim sum. We came here for dim sum and the receipt said "Chubby Boy BBQ" when we paid. Maybe they all are partners in this joint an whatever it is called, as long as the food is good, whatever they call it is fine with me. :) So the inside has 2 dining areas and the center of the place is a BBQ place where you can see roast ducks and Xa Xiu Pork hanging there like any China Town BBQ joint would have. Maybe this is their "Chubby Boy BBQ" here. The BBQ place also offers Soy Sauce chicken, Pork Belly, etc. and you can get half or whole chicken. The Pork Belly (Xa Xiu pork) is per pound. When you are seated for dining in, they will give you a menu as well as the Dim Sum menu, where you can visually see the items and you can check mark or put down how many you want per item. The Dim Sum items are per category of A, B, C, D and the pricing will apply to those areas. eg. items in the A category is $, B is $$, C is $$$ and so on. Once ordered, they will print out the items you ordered and give you that list. As they bring out the ordered items, they will cross that off the list. This system is quite neat because there is no misunderstanding of what was ordered, what has been brought out and what is still "outstanding" till they bring them to your table. It's very efficient and transparent, which I really appreciated. The Food: You can see the quality of the food here which is pleasantly and thankfully very good! We were very pleased that everything looked really fresh and very tasty. Definitely a step above other dim sum places we have had. The staff is very friendly, very quick to respond to you. They were jammed packed for a Sunday lunch time and the staff was running around like crazy. Despite how busy and chaotic things were, they seemed to have managed very well and were quick to respond to tables calling/waving them down. They were very friendly and courteous, unlike most Chinese restaurants where cracking a smile or a friendly look would have been uncalled for. The dining areas are very clean, though, and the decor is nice, not overly done. Overall, a very nice, clean look. The majority of the patrons are Chinese, so that is very telling cuz Chinese patrons are some of the hardest patrons when it comes to services and food quality. lol The bathroom could use some attention but maybe because of the lunch rush, it wasn't as kept up. I found this place on yelp and because I love duck so much I have to stop in. I had to say prices have increased from when I used to pay $20 back in Texas for a duck and now I'm paid $40 but sincerely it was worth it. It was very meaty And so tasteful. I did try the broccoli with garlic. Also very tasty very low in salt prices are a bit high, but I guess that comes with good quality food. They were very attentive and I got my meals very quickly. Canto food I've been looking for in Vegas!! Under the parent company called Noodle Man (only tried their other location and it was horrible). The 3 meat combo dish is such a great deal! All the meats were really tender and juicy. We had the staff pick the 3 best meats of the day for us (duck, chicken, pork)...so happy we had her pick. She explained why those picks too. We're looking forward to trying more dishes, and coming here for our canto cafe food cravings now!! We ordered takeout for our road trip. We were sick of accidental mid-drive hunger which ends us up with horrible fast food options. This thought ahead this time. Just it's not the easiest packages to eat from on a road trip. So nice I have to review it twice... because this crazy place has like three names under one roof but if you aim for Chubby Boy or Fortune, you've hit the right place. You've also hit the jackpot, because this Fortune is truly a prize of Chinese cuisine. You will enjoy the best of the best of both continental Chinese food and Hong Kong barbecue. The char siu (pork barbecue) is amazing. The pork is in beautiful, even slices, no hodge-podge of mystery cuts. Lean, but unctuous and flavorful. I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I first went because this restaurant had 3 different names. But what is important to know is that they are all one name now under something Fortune. It is a little bit nicer of an ambiance than what I was expecting, but the food was great overall! The noodle dishes, soup and stir fry, had an authentic Cantonese flavor. The bbq was also delicious. Pretty easy to get a table, fairly clean restaurant compared to equivalent Chinese restaurants. The food is great, the best dish is the salt & pepper dish filets. They're super crispy and big pieces of fish. As far as other dishes, the hot and sour soup was not too sour, but the right amount of spicy. They also have tasty and chewy handpulled noodles, which are tasty for stir fry dishes too. 1 of the dishes I ordered was the long life noodles. For sure one of our go to Chinese restaurants period. There's a few go to dishes that we order everytime we are here. Stir Fry Green Beans in XO sauce- It's at the top of our list. We eat this dish with whatever we are doing creating our meal from start to finish. It's a must there hasn't been any restaurant close to executing that dish this good. Fish egg and crab meat fried rice- Probably my favorite place to get fried rice. It's their wok and it's delicious and will order this every meal here too. Those two dishes are our base. Depending on your mood you can go with your BBQ which is roast duck or soy sauce chicken or roast pork all of those dishes are solid picks and noodle dishes from chow fun to chow mein to pan fried crispy chow mein. Also their salt and pepper shrimp was bomb! They deep fry well and batter is also good. Very crunchy but you have to like eating shell and the shrimp head. Otherwise it's probably not for you. Was craving Chinese style bbq and stumbled upon here. Place is clean and service was friendly. We ordered the roasted duck, salted chicken, roasted pork, and stir fried crispy noodle. I don't know how they do it but the roasted duck was succulent and maintained its crispy skin throughout the entire meal. The salted chicken wasn't oily (which I appreciate) and wasn't overly salty like how other places prepare this dish. The roasted pork was tender and had its signature crispy skin- I recommend asking for the belly portion. Overall, I would go here again. Prices are fairly decent too considering how pricing everywhere for food has been raising pretty high. Since there are two restaurants inside the establishment, I'll be reviewing the food we had ordered off of Chubby Boy BBQ. We had ordered the 3 Meat Combination. Supreme Chicken BBQ Pork Roast Pork The order was cooked fresh upon order! It took about 30 minutes, but it was totally worth it! The meat quality and quantity was awesome! The Supreme Chicken was yummy, crispy outside! The chicken was juicy and flavorful! There are bones in it, just be careful when eating the chicken. The BBQ Pork and Roast Pork was yummy as well! The Roast Pork had a crispy outside. We couldn't eat all of it, so we decided to strategize as to what would be good left-overs. Yes! I was excited to try this place because my aunt raved about it. I was excited to eat some authentic Chinese cuisine for once and it did not disappointed. The roast pork was so easy to eat. So tender and the skin was the perfect amount of crunch. Peking duck and was great too. I was pretty much full after these two entrees but my aunt had also ordered this egg dish with salty eggs and hundred old eggs which you definitely need to have the palate for but I had enjoyed it. I wanted to order a whole roasted duck for Thanksgiving and when I went to get it I decided I should order food and try some of the other offerings since I'd never eaten there and it was exactly as I'd expected. I ordered baked bbq pork buns which were perfect, sugar cane shrimp, which was delicious and of course I chewed on the sugar cane as well, and Chongqing noodles which were delectable. Got a couple of things that reminded me of childhood meals. - Steamed Pork Patty with Salted Fish was nice and tender (had to be broken up to fit into a quart takeout container). Good fish aroma. - Bitter Melon with Beef and Black Bean Sauce. Good taste, but since it's been a very long time since I've had bitter melon, it didn't look like the bitter melon I remember (this was smooth and looked more like a green bell pepper). The beef was nice and tender. - Steamed Egg. This was delicious, with a nice sesame oil finish. Also had to be broken up to fit into a quart to-go container. Also ordered: - BBQ pork (cha siu). Vegas is NOT known for having the best Chinese Food, not like The Bay Area or NY. LA comes 3rd. The Pork Bellie, just fantastic. One of the best I've had. Everything was pretty good and traditional. The salt and pepper squid were so good, make sure t get that! Didn't care for the filet mignon, I've had better at other Chinese restaurants. I didn't try the kung pao it was very wet and didn't look good. Overall they have pretty good food, 4 stars because they aren't always consistent.We went in on Christmas Eve to buy some duck and roasted pork but there wasn't any pork left which is fine, but they tried to give us burned parts.. They have legit duck sauce as well, compliments the roasted duck meat taste. Braised pork over vegetable - I was too indulged with my duck, that I really didn't care much about this dish, but my boyfriend and brother were head over heels with this one. And I can attest that they are braised pork experts! It was flavorful, and melts in your mouth. One thing they noted is that the cuts were pretty thick, but still a good 5/5 for them.
