The food is outstanding! Choice beef and sushi. Also many other dishes. It's ALL you can eat. Please come hungry! Thank you Josh for helping us out since it was our first experience. He walked us through the menu and how to experience the restaurant. We even joined and are now Chubby Members:) This place has a great concept and great food. It's fun and enjoyable. Pricey but expected for the amount of food you will have. Also I appreciate Callie. We can eat 12 PM on a Saturday and we're seated pretty swiftly.

We got here on a Wednesday around 5pm and only had to wait 20 mins to be seated. We got the diamond set menu. I introduced my coworkers to this and let's just say they fell in love and went crazy from this experience. Even one of my coworkers who's extremely picky with food and rarely eats the same things as us also enjoyed the food. I had chubby cattle for many years now so it was nice to share what I love with people I work closely with. Service was amazing. The server kept checking on us every 15-20 mins. All the meats came in quick. They are all good quality and amazingly delicious! The à la carte menu that items like sukiyaki, carpaccio and Wagyu nigiri was soooo good. So many options!! Definitely recommend getting the garlic butter on the side to dip your meat. Get the membership it's worth the price and investment!

Chubby Cattle BBQ in Irvine has quickly become our go-to for when we're craving that perfect mix of an indulgent feast and a next-level dining experience. Tucked away in the bustling Diamond Jamboree plaza, it's the kind of place that works just as well for a celebratory dinner with friends as it does for a fun date night where you want to be a little impressed. From the moment you walk in, it's clear this isn't your standard AYCE spot. The space feels elevated, with a sleek, modern design that's been amped up with some playful, video-game-inspired arcade decor elements that make it feel fun and unique. This is a Japanese wagyu-focused spot, and the quality is seriously impressive. We opted for the Gold tier ($78 per person), and it felt like the sweet spot, offering a great variety of premium cuts, including A5 and full-blood wagyu. The dry-aged wagyu, a specialty for this location, is an absolute must-try. Every piece we grilled came out tender, juicy, and flavorful on its own. The self-cook method is part of the fun, but we loved that the staff was always on hand to swap out grills or lend a helping hand. While it's on the pricier side compared to other AYCE spots, the freshness and marbling justify the cost. Service here is a huge part of what makes the experience work so smoothly. Throughout our meal, our server was incredibly attentive, guiding us through the tablet ordering system and keeping the food flowing without making us feel rushed. For anyone in Irvine looking for a dependable, high-quality AYCE Japanese BBQ with great vibes and even better meat, this location is absolutely worth the hype and the wait.

One of the best AYCE spots for both BBQ and sushi! The meat quality was impressive, and the seafood tasted incredibly fresh. Staff was friendly and tentative. They cleared plates quickly and made sure the self-serve station stayed clean, organized, and fully stocked! Interior was modern with dim lighting, creating a cozy atmosphere! Tip- Parking is limited in the Diamond Jamboree plaza. There's a parking structure located in the back!

I came here after my brother's graduation and birthday celebration, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience definitely a good spot for special occasions. The food quality here is top-notch. We chose the Gold tier, which was around $78 without the membership. They also offer a membership program that lowers the price or gives discounts if you come back often, at least from what our server explained. There's a 90-minute dining limit, but honestly it still felt worth it. They also have a bar area with plenty of extra items like desserts, drinks, soups, and additional food stations, which made the experience feel more premium. Service was good overall. The server helped grill the meat for us and was attentive throughout the meal. The only downside was that we were asked multiple times to join the membership program even after politely declining. Other than that, the service experience was solid. The ambience is pretty chill, though it can get loud when the restaurant is full and the music is going at the same time. Overall, a great place to celebrate special occasions with high-quality food and a fun dining experience.

We went back to Chubby Cattle for my daughter's birthday, and it was a great experience again. This time we had Johnny as our server and he was super friendly and helpful. Service was excellent even though they are so busy and sang so many Happy Birthdays. We stuffed ourselves with the waygu again and also tried lamb and beef tongue as well as sugiyaki this time. Even though we were so full, we couldn't resist the desserts - the milk ice cream is amazing, as are the Portuguese egg tarts and matcha Mille cakes which ran out. The ambiance is fun and lively, and there was a long wait when we were leaving. We got there early by 5pm so we didn't have to wait too long. We love Chubby Cattle and will be back for another birthday!

Took the family out to eat recently and they had a blast. We been to the one in Monterey Park, but it was our first time at this Jamboree location. Back then, this spot used to be Tokyo Table and they just got bought out. The interior is clean and decorated with bright colors. Once you walk in, you can see a a fridge filled with Wagyu for display. Looks dope. Theres a table where they have unlimited side dishes, a sauce bar, drink station, ice cream maker, and heated countertop with burgers and egg tart. Everything looks well placed, organized, and neat. We ordered lots of different waygu cuts like the top blade, brisket, tongue, and etc. We basically ordered all the meat to try. My favorite was the cow tongue and the short rib. Very juicy and fatty; kinda like eating butter. It's delicious but you can't eat too much or else you'll eventually get sick of it. We also ordered the sushi there and it was whatever. Tasted fishy, but obviously they are known for their BBQ, not fish lol. The scallop was not bad though. We had sake to wash down the oiliness lol. Pretty buzzed that afternoon. The guy who served us was quick and friendly. Tip, don't eat the side dishes first because you gonna get full. I had the Wagyu burger in the beginning, and I couldn't eat that much afterwards. Had about 4 plates of meat to myself and that's it. I understand the demographics and their demand, especially in that upscale market, but it was pretty pricey even more so in this economy. Not complaining, it's still good though but I probably won't come back until another 4 months. Not something I would crave weekly.

FINALLY got to try this place out and it did not disappoint! If you are a fan of AYCE BBQ w/ SUSHI options! This is the place for you! On top of that they got waygu! *pending on your selected option the quality may vary. Prices range from $58-98 but if you have a membership you get a little discount Service was very fast and attentive! The environment is definitely there, on top of the music selection - gets you in the mood to eat AYCE! Will i be back? Heck yes!

This was my second time eating here at Chubby Cattle's new location in Irvine and, like last time, I had a great time. I came for lunch at Sunday and I knew that there would be a line so we arrived about 30 minutes prior to opening to find that there was already a line of about five people! I know waittimes here can get super high so I am glad we came early, because our party of six got sat immediately. We came to celebrate my dad's birthday, and since it was his birthday, he got a free meal with his Chubby Plus membership! Definitely makes the membership worth it. As always, the selection of meats and appetizers were amazing and very diverse. I love that there are so many options to choose from. I just wish the timer was longer, since you only get like 70 minutes to order food and there is a 5 minute stop in between every order so you can only order every 5 minutes. I think this is only a feature in the Irvine location, unless the other locations have changed and added this as well. My girlfriend and I also love the egg tarts. Also, great taste from the new cheese tarts as well! The best part of my experience was definitely our service from Ryan E. He was such a great server, offering to cook the meats for us and helping us out even when we didn't ask for it. I have been to Chubby Cattle restaurants multiple times and nobody has ever actually cooked the meat for us and Ryan E. did it multiple times, despite it being busy. While cooking, he would converse with us and made gaming jokes with my sister, who is typically super introverted and doesn't really talk. I was so happy that Ryan was engaging with my family, even joking with my dad, who is usually a serious guy. The servers sang happy birthday to us as well and it was great vibes all around. Thanks Ryan!

Got there at 5PM, the wait time was over an hour. We put our name into the tablet and waited. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The drivers in the plaza are something else and I'll leave it at that. They have water outside while you wait and they are 2 arcade machines that have a bunch of different games on them . Tried to play Street Fighter, but I don't think the joysticks and buttons are working properly. We finally get called in, about 45 mins. They offer different tiered member ships, which gives you a small discount and possible a free meal on your birthday. We decided not to sign up for it. Our waiter was Ryan, and he was super helpful with cooking some of the meat and explaining things to us. We opted for the gold tier which doesn't give you a whole lot of the good cuts. Most of the ordering is submitted on the tablet at the table. The tablet has 90% of the options, they also have a hot food/ salad area in the back which is in a horrible place and it's impossible to maneuver back there. You'll bump into people no matter which direction you walk. The soft drinks and milk teas are also back there. In my opinion, it's a total mess back in that area. I visited once and did not go back. The gold tier gives you a couple of premium Wagyu options - which were really tender. Once you finish those dishes, you go back to the lower cuts which can be rather fatty and tough. They also have a few of seafood options. The food and meats come out fast, the problem is the grill is smaller than a tradition KBBQ place so the cooking area is smaller. Some of the cuts of meat will take up the whole grill which really limits and kills your timed meal. Overall, our server Ryan was great, the premium cuts were good, the lower cuts were average at best. The hot food/salad/drinks area is chaotic. To me, it wasn't worth the premium price we paid (gold tier) and there's a lot of options in Irvine and have better cuts for a better price. The hype didn't match the quality. I'd skip it.

We came here on a Monday for an early dinner and there was a small wait already at 4pm. We got seated after 15 min which isn't too bad. We were down to our table and they explained the process of order and the different types of packages they have. We choose the diamond package and also got their membership. The self serve area is a bit small but they have a wide variety of things such as: sides, sauces, drinks, dessert, rice, and fruits. On their menu, they have a large selection of sushi and high quality meats. They also have regular meats as well but they arent as good. And of course the high quality items are limited depending which package you choose. We were so full after a few rouds of meat and sushi. Our waiter, Aspen, was attentive and helpful. We really enjoyed our experience here celebrating my husbands bday. Will definitely be back to try their other items.

Yet again, I had an amazing experience thanks to the attentive service and stellar food. We are always taken care of here and thanks to Eric, we had an amazing time. His recommendations, candor, and attentive nature made the entire dinner special and we will definitely be coming back.

How do I get a table at opening hour? Is there a waiting list?

    1. Show up early and wait in line. There's a chance you'll get one of the first seating but depends how many people ahead of you and how large your party. Go earlier on peak days/hours.… Read more

I don't understand the whole ordering process and couldn't find any explanations. Do you pick some items from the lists? Or are you served all of them? Could someone explain it to me, please? Also, do you have to cook everything yourself? Thank you.

you order through tablet and specialty meats depend on your tier. Speciality meats are cooked by servers but the ones that are AYCE is self cook.

Is this place Japanese or Korean BBQ?

    Japanese, its considered yakiniku.

Is there a different pricing for kids?

It goes by height, 100cm and under is free, 101cm-130cm is 50%, 131cm+ is full price.

Is there a way to join the waitlist online ahead of arrival?

For Irvine they currently do not have an online wait list. We tried asking and they only have an in person waitlist.

Important deciding factor for me, does this location put hot mustard on their sushi? I know Cerritos does 🤢 instead of typical spicy mayo that all there other locations do.

    no hot mustard on sushi

Hi Team, what is the maximum number of guests you can accommodate at your largest table?

In regular dining you can probably fit 8, the VIP room can fit up to 12 (tight squeeze). There are tables that fit 8, and can accommodate up to 14 (with the end having a gap but next to a booth seating 6).

Does this location have plans to open for weekday lunch soon? As someone who works in the area and goes out to lunch every day, I can say that this place will have a healthy customer base that will keep it busy during the lunch hours.

Most CC locations open for lunch shortly after completing their soft opening.

    Do they take reservations?

Walk in only. If you have a Chubby Club NFT or app status of Silver+ you can make priority waitlist requests (24+hours) on Discord once they become available (usually a few weeks after soft opening).

Begrudgingly giving 3 stars…read more I came here on a weekday for lunch at 1pm. The place was packed, but luckily, one table was available. It's a small place and the tables are crammed together; you practically touch elbows with whoever is sitting at the table next to you. I ordered the Hako Tonkatsu. The amount of food is a great deal for the price. Along with a large serving of tonkatsu (pork katsu), you get miso soup, rice, salad, and banchan (some sort of radish and jalapeños). The quality of the pork was superb and the crunch of the panko was right on point. I've had many, many plates of tonkatsu over the years, both here in the U.S. and Japan, and this rates highly, made perfectly. I'm not usually a huge fan of miso soup but this one was really good; I loved it. The rice was excellent and the salad was standard but bright & fresh. As a sauce guy, the importance of a good katsu sauce is imperative in making a tonkatsu meal perfect. When I tried the sauce served with this meal I thought - they've got to be kidding. It tasted like a version of Thousand Island dressing. I looked at other tables (2 inches away) who had the same meal and they were dipping into the same container so it was no mistake. Apparently, this is their version of katsu sauce and it was nothing like any katsu sauce I've had in my life. This was an embarrassment to the world of katsu sauce. It disappointed me and honestly destroyed the entire tonkatsu experience. I guess the five-star reviewers like this sauce but just don't know what proper katsu sauce is. I don't want to be a crybaby and give too low a rating as everything else was exceptional, but I'd never ever go back here nor recommend it. Would easily been 5 stars if they had any clue.

They're known for Japanese curry bowls (fully customizable by the way - spices, toppings, rice amount) - but the menu has so many other cozy options too, including beef udon, creamy mushroom omelette rice, crispy cutlets, and their BRAND NEW Chicken Cutlet Burger! It was actually my favorite item we ordered! Amazing portions at affordable prices too! I will be back again and again when I'm craving comfort food!

Happy to finally have a Coco Ichibanya in my area, but room for some improvement at this new…read morelocation. Been frequenting coco for over a decade and have dined many times at the Torrance, Irvine, and LA locations. This was my second time at this location since they opened, both visits take out. First visit service was very slow, I waited a couple minutes in the restaurant before anyone even appeared at the front stand and once she did she didn't have the friendly energy I'm used to being greeted with when dining at Coco Ichibanya. Seemed very uninterested and straight faced during our interaction which didn't enhance my experience. Second visit here was last night. My friends and I ordered all our meals with cheese added on for an extra $1.50 each. Unfortunately we were disappointed to find that there was barely a sprinkle of cheese added to each of our meals. The keema CHEESE fries was the most egregious part, there was a small sprinkle of cheese in the top left corner of the fries and then literally nowhere else. We've gotten this order so many times from other locations and it's never been served this way before. Unfortunately this was a delivery order and there wasn't much we could do to rectify the situation. Definitely impacted the overall quality of the meal, especially the Keema cheese fries as the name would suggest it's supposed to come with cheese all over it not just on a few of the fries in one corner. As far as our curry, it didn't feel fair that we spent an additional $1.50 each for the cheese add on when we got the small amount we received. If this was my first time dining at Coco I would've just assumed they skimp on the cheese at this restaurant, but having dined at Coco so many times I know that this was absolutely a mistake or an oversight by this new location. Overall the food is good but it's absolutely not on par with the other locations yet. For $155 we weren't satisfied with what we received. I'll be back since this is the closest location to my house and I love this spot, just hope that I have a better experience the next time.

Kagura is a fantastic option if you're feeling some katsu…read more Starting with the Karaage, they came out looking potentially a little too fried but I couldn't have been more wrong. The coating was tasty, the chicken was juicy, and the sauce with a little bit of lemon was exquisite. For the main dish, I went a little bold and tried their Chicken Katsu with Umeboshi Sauce and Shiso inside the katsu. May sound kind of odd, but the combination of flavors was both fresh and bold. Service at the restaurant was solid and I don't think there was a moment where my water wasn't full. The restaurant itself was quite big and I was surprised by how many tables/people could be seated. 100% would come back to try some of the other katsu options.

I loved the sides and miso soup with the meal. Rice was perfect. Katsu sauce and soy on table. We shared between my husband and 11 yo -an order of the chicken chili cheese katsu set and the pork (no fat) katsu set. I asked for extra salad sauce which was .50. The marinated egg side was delish. Ordered another pork katsu set for my older son to go. He enjoyed it. So so so good! What a gem!!!! Beautiful woodsy ambiance. Staff were Japanese. An authentic experience. Will definitely be back.

Curry Do..you have stolen my heart (and tummy). HANDS DOWN, my new fav Japanese curry house!!!…read more What started as a new food find w/ the hubs, one afternoon has now turned into an obsession and I can't get enough! Lol Located in Tustin, in the Strata Tustin Center ~ near THH sandwiches & Leaf N Cream tea house, Curry Do is a cute, modern, family-friendly Japanese-style curry house. The staff is super sweet, friendly & efficient. The establishment is casual w/ chill vibes, perfect for a lunch date or dinner w/ fam. I personally LOVE the awesome lunch special (offered M-F 11:30 am- 3 pm) ~ for only $13.50, you get one small appetizer and one small curry rice (with your choice of protein). My go-to has been the fried gyoza (3 pc) app & pork belly curry. The pork belly has the perfect meat to fat ratio. It's sooo yums! The hubs opt'd for the healthier option and went w/ the chicken katsu. We both get the medium spice level and it's perfect. Just the lil kick a curry should have. IMO, their curry is the true definition of what I envision for a Japanese curry. It's not overly spiced (like Indian curry), it's not overly sweet (or salty), but it's surely savory & memorable. I always do the add-on of the potatoes & carrots and fried egg. One time I even got the cheese and it just worked. Very deelish! You get a generous portion. I always can never finish it in one sitting and the leftovers taste even better. DEFFFFF ask for addt'l red pickle radish cuz it's chef's kiss. I was also enticed to stop by cuz I heard Curry Do sold Dough & Arrow cookies (also another fav place of mine..to which I was super sad it's flagship store in Costa Mesa closed), but have been bummed that I keep missing them. Boo! Will have to catch it someday.. A total RxFoodie recommend and I will be back to try the other yummy menu items!

Half of his chicken was inedible--hard pieces. They were so little and the pieces so small, that it was ridiculous. My shrimp were so small, but I ate the rice, so I made that my dinner. Lucky we bought 3 extra shrimp, so he could have more of a dinner. Also, the medium spice curry was very spicy. I can't imagine why they got such good reviews. Now I believe the people that told me that the restaurants friends leave some reviews. I always read the bad reviews and make my choices off that. There weren't enough bad reviews on this restaurant. I've never seen anything like this. This was the one in Tustin. We call it Curry Don't now. lol
