Finally tried Chubby Cattle in Irvine! My aunt treated me out for my birthday. It's my first time here, and I was really excited. Parking: This restaurant is located in a high foot traffic plaza, so finding a parking spot will be a pain in the a--. Highly recommend carpooling or uber/lyft. Ambiance/Environment: We visited on a Saturday night during their dinner rush. It was extremely busy. The place is very lively and packed. The ravers and edm lovers will appreciate the music here. They have a large space with lots of indoor seating and some outdoor seating with heaters. The self-serve station is located in the back of the restaurant. It's extremely clean, labeled, and organized. Plates, bowls, and sauce plates are located on the bottom. Plenty of options for drinks. Though, this is my least favorite area bc it can get tight and overwhelming. Service: Shout out to our servers Ryan Ta and Brandon Huynh! Especially Ryan. He was our main server, and he's very courteous, attentive, quick & efficient. Honestly, every worker was on top of their game. Despite it being busy, I'm glad they all have a sense of humor and actually enjoy their job. I joined the waitlist on Yelp. The quoted wait time on Yelp is somewhat accurate. I was quoted a 3-4 hour wait. I checked in at 18:19, and we were seated at 20:58. Food & drinks: They offer 4 different tiers. We decided to do the Silver tier. We tried all the Wagyu meats except for the beef tongue and pork. My favorites were the Wagyu steak and Angus Wagyu Brisket. We skipped out the seafood bc we tried all the sashimi & sushi. So fresh and smooth! I ordered a Sukiyaki soup, and it may seem small, but it's enough for 2-4 persons. It came with a generous amount of beef slices & vegetables, and the soup wasn't too salty. At the self-serve station, they offer a variety of vegetables and unique side dishes like Wagyu sliders, egg tarts, and Wagyu curry. Tip: try the Wagyu sliders with the truffle fries! There's also a sauce bar with instructions on how to make the perfect sauce. They have sodas, milk teas, and fruit teas. I didn't get any rice bc the rice machine looks intimidating lol. I wanted to start off by saying our server, Peter, was great! He was super friendly, explained things well, and checked up on us often. He even helped us cook our meat to our desired level, which was honestly so helpful because the fire here is out for blood... We got here at 6pm on Friday and were seated somewhere around 9pm, a little over a 3 hour wait. The wait itself was long, but they have lots of tables and chairs outside for everyone to sit on, as well as a free water + hot green tea dispenser with cups, and 2 machines that you could play games on with a partner. In addition to the wait, be warned that parking is especially brutal since the restaurant is in Diamond Jamboree. There are lots of cars, and many like to park in random spots along the curb and just turn on their hazards, so it can take a while to find any parking unless lucky. For our menu, we chose Diamond. You're able to select 2 special meats per person, and 2 specialty dishes per person. For the special meats, I definitely suggest the dry aged wagyu & selecting your sauce as sesame oil. This location is the only Chubby Cattle location to have dry aged wagyu, and you can try it even on their gold menu. All the special meats were pretty good, but out of the 4 cuts we chose, only the dry aged with sesame oil stood out to me. We also ordered the beef tongue platter, A5 Flank Steak, Miso Chuck Eye (from the silver menu), and A4 Thin Cut. The beef tongue platter was delicious, especially after adding the lemon to it. The miso chuck eye is also a good go to, even if it isn't on the diamond menu, as the sauce they put on it is super good! The A5 flank steak wasn't my favorite, but my boyfriend enjoyed it a lot. Our specialty dishes were the A5 Wagyu Tartare, Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri, and Hokaido Uni Mentaiko. The A5 Tartare was so good! I was disappointed they didn't have the normal tartare as a side option like their other locations, but the sauce they put on the A5 one was so delicious. I would definitely pick this as an option if you don't mind raw beef. The Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri was also fairly good, although nothing has matched the wagyu nigiris from Yumiyaki. I definitely think, in general, the wagyu nigiri they offer here is much better than the one in Rowland Heights as the flavor is more tolerable and not so strong. I definitely could've lived without the Hokaido Uni Mentaiko. The presentation of it, as well as them blowtorching it in front of you was cool, but the flavor was not it for me (too strong of mentaiko and not enough uni), and neither was the texture. It wasn't BAD, just not what I was hoping for as the item I came to try in the first place. On a side note, I also do NOT recommend the wagyu shumai or wagyu wrapped enoki. Both were not that great personally and I found myself not wanting to even finish one piece of them. Both the store and the service, as expected, were phenomenal. I do wish the restaurant was less cramped, but the theming is nice and everything is clean. The buffet bar offers unique options from the other stores like wagyu burgers or sweet potato with cheese. I like the option to pick things myself from the buffet rather than ordering them on the tablet. The drink options here were much more appealing than Rowland's as well, with the strawberry slush being my favorite. Lastly, the service. All the hosts at the front were very welcoming and patient despite the sheer insane amount of people outside waiting & the impossibly long waitlist. They gave us updates and were happy to explain their menu before we went in. Our server, Peter, was extremely chill and also was helpful in explaining the ordering system. I was pleasantly surprised when he came over and helped us with basically every order of meat we had and cooked it for us, as I'm always scared of the huge flames that come off the grill at Chubby Cattle locations. He was so attentive, great with conversation, and made us feel very welcome. It really felt like he went above and beyond expectations despite how busy it was, and we never felt rushed at all. We arrived before 4 pm on a Sunday. There was just a party ahead of us when we arrived and the hostess took our name down. However because we were a party of 7 it took over 30 mins to get us a table. The hostess took our name and we were just waiting for her to seat other parties that came after us. We got Jason L this time, who was also attentive and helpful even when busy with many tables. The chubby cattle staff dropped by to sing happy birthday which was nice of them. The food at the silver tier was still phenomenal. It might actually work better for me since the other tiers you're focused on eating the premium meats or limited experiences it offers. Here I felt like I could breath and enjoy a burger, some of the fish or some of the side dishes like the cheese sweet potato. I thought I didn't love it, but I kept coming back to it and my table helped me finish it too, so it must be a sleeper favorite. The one item I would avoid is the enoki mushroom meat, unless you like a sweet meat. I ordered two, maybe start with one to try for yourself. We came in on a Sunday evening and put our names in at 3pm for dinner at 6pm. The new location was really cute and clean. However, it did feel pretty cramped. It's a bit different from the Rowland Heights location as the ice cream flavors were only vanilla and chocolate, they didn't have the egg anymore and they didn't have the full boba bar. However, it doesn't take away from this experience! We got the diamond menu and the meats were soo good and fatty. Aspen was our server and he was so kind and patient with us. This review was for a Sunday December 21 2025, the opening hour was 5pm, base on previous reviews the wait was at least 1-2 hours plus depending on the time and day. We came around 430pm, parking can hectic in this plaza but we got lucky and found one right away. Even though we came at 430pm, there was a long line already, we ended up waiting roughly 45 minutes which wasn't too bad. We go seated outside in the patio in the farthest corner. Since Im a chubby plus member, we opted for the platinum tier. For our special meats we got the A5 short rib thick cut and stone axe fullblood wagyu tongue. The A5 short rib thick is so bomb and delicious, the chubby cattle Irvine exclusive Stone axe fullblood wagyu tongue was thick surprisingly so tender. Both are a must order and a reason to get the platinum tier. I also renewed my membership and got a a4 filet mignon with uni butter & caviar for renewing. Thank you Charlie and Yvonne for cooking and great customer service throughout our dinner. Overall a great experience with the food and service, we did have an unfortunate incident, my friend was eating his curry and found/bit into a piece of metal screw in the curry. Luckily this happened when the waiter, Charlie was cooking our meat. They found out that the knob and screw of the curry lid got loose and fell out into the curry. THANK YOU Charlie for taking care of us, he made sure my friend was ok, ask if he needed medical attention, took an incident report also, and mentioned through out our meal not to worry and that he'll take care of us, which he did. read more

This chubby cattle is amazing!! Better than the one we had in LA in terms of meat quality and service. We got the gold tier which they recommended. Ordering is very simple through a touch screen. The meat quality here is amazing and beef is incredibly tender. There's a lot of all you can eat side dishes as well including braised beef rice, curry, sushi, fruit, matcha cake, and Swiss roll.
