Loved that the restaurant was small, so everything seemed reachable and way to get. The layout and idea was excellent. You can your own meat, seafood, veggies to grill at your table. There were also egg tarts, drinks, Waygu mini burgers, appetizers, snacks, chocolate roll, dumplings and soft drink to take. The only suggestion is if at least one type of milk tea was included. My family and I came here for lunch on the weekend and ended up waiting more than an hour and a half before getting a table. The restaurant is smaller than other Chubby Group locations I've been to, and with so many people waiting, the space felt quite crowded and a little tight. At around $50 per person, I think the price is fair for the quality of the meat. My biggest issue wasn't the cost, but the overall experience. The long wait was already a challenge, and the meat refills were slower than I expected. With only 90 minutes to eat, I never really felt like I had enough time to enjoy the meal. The restaurant does have other options like hamburgers, fried rice, and some dumplings, but I came here mainly for the meat and sushi. The meat was fresh and tasted good, but the sushi didn't really stand out to me. There weren't many choices, and I felt the quality was just average. It was a very busy day, so maybe the staff were just overwhelmed. One small thing that stood out was that after we were seated, no one brought us cups for our drinks, and we had to find someone ourselves. Staff also stopped by asking if everything was okay, but they often walked away before we even had a chance to respond. It wasn't a huge issue by itself, but together with the long wait and slow refills, it made the whole experience feel less enjoyable than what I've had at other restaurants in the same group. Thursday dinner was $50 per person. 90 minute limit. All self served AYCE stations available with meats and seafood, vegetables, sushi and rolls, fried food and soda machine. The restaurant was much smaller than I expected and the layout was a little weird. I didn't like how the doors were open for a while, which is right near the sushi station. Flies were seen landing..which made you second guess what to eat. The meat qualities were extremely low grade. Some meats were completely frozen, all stuck together, making it hard to grab with tongs. The tongs were placed everywhere, not truly designated for each individual item. Basically cross contamination galore, especially for people who are unable to eat certain items. The selections were constantly empty. They couldn't keep it replenished or stocked quickly enough compared to the crowds. I definitely don't think it was worth the price point. The restrooms were extremely dirty, too. Almost forgot, we were seated at a table that still had dirty, filled cups, and one grill was only partially operable. Unfortunately, this was a no for me. read more

My family and I wanted to have BBQ so we stopped by Wagyu Factory. The place wasn't busy at 4pm, so we were seated right away. It's a self services place, so you get the meats and sides you want. The meats they offered were placed in small amouts and were more often times than not unavailable. A lot of the time, as soon as the meats were replenished, they were just as fast emptied. For the most part, the wagyu meats were tender and delicious. They did also have pork and lamb too. There was plenty of parking available in the structure across the street, which was convenient. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. We waited nearly an hour to be seated, and once inside, the restaurant felt quite cramped. The table we were given seemed better suited for 2 to 3 people rather than 4. The table was small, and it was positioned too close to the wall that getting in and out of our seats was difficult. Service was also lacking. Our server was not very attentive and we had to flag him down multiple times to have the dishes cleared from our table. The only times he proactively checked on us were when he brought the bill and when we paid. I also did not like being required to download the restaurant's app. On top of that, only about half of the grill surface actually cooked meat properly, which made the dining experience negative. As for the food, the meat quality was decent, but most of the other food items were below expectations. Although,, the Wagyu Burger was surprisingly good. This is kinda like Chubby Cattle, self-serve style with about half the menu. It's a little cheaper than CC. M-F, it's 49.99 for dinner and $6 cheaper for Chubby Plus members. The nice thing is, you don't have to waste time scrolling through a menu screen and waiting for the food but you do have to get it yourself. It is still a time 90 minute limit. While it doesn't give the same amount of meat/protein options as CC, it has enough. It has some additional things like Wagyu stew, Wagyu tomato, udon noodles and a fried/snack bar along with lobster and shrimp dumplings. The side food items are okay, nothing great. They also have about a dozen sushi and roll options and lobster rolls and Wagyu sliders. Personally I'd stick to the meats. They have plenty of protein options including meats, chicken wings, squid, and shrimp. They also have a vegetable bar with mushrooms, zucchini, kim chi, seaweed, etc. Drinks are included but they only have soda fountains drinks, cold and hot water and they don't have an extensive dessert selection. They only have egg custard (don tot) and vanilla/chocolate cake rolls. If you have a smaller table of 2 or 3, you might share a larger table with another party. You'll have your own grill though. Servers were friendly and on a side note if you want to tip extra, give it to the busboys. TBH, I think they do the lion share of the work. read more

I've tried majority of the Chubby Group restaurants and had tried the Wagyu Factory in Tustin for the hot pot, so I was really curious how the bbq version would be. I love Chubby Cattle but the price point is a bit steep so hearing that this was a more affordable option, I was ready to try it! What's great about this location is that everything is self serve. No waiting on your servers or flagging them down to bring your meats, it's all at the self serve stations! They have a variety of hot foods, fried foods, sushi, desserts, soft drinks and of course the meat station. The meat were lower quality than Chubby, but I already expected that, so it wasn't a surprise to me. We went on a Saturday night around 5pm and only had to wait for about 10 minutes. It was a good time because everything at the self serve stations were pretty well replenished at all times. We loved the vegetables, especially the zucchini and the mushrooms. Not sure how it's marinated but it tastes so delicious on the grill. Be careful to not burn them though! My friends loved the wagyu burger and I thought it was decent, a little dry for me though. I liked the lobster roll though, good amounts of lobster! Tri was our server, and he was absolutely fantastic! Not only did he give us the pro tip of using wasabi on the wagyu with the salt (try it, it's sooo good!!) but he was very efficient in cleaning up the empty plates and changing our grill! The only con was really the sushi bar which I was really looking forward to. The rice on the salmon nigiri was unfortunately not cooked all the way. We came here for lunch. First off our host Cici was very kind and helpful. Stanley our server was also very friendly and quick too. We have been to multiple chubby group spots, most notably chubby cattle. Given the lunch discount and the format, we like this one the most. Had an awesome experience at Wagyu Factory today during late lunch. The wait was super reasonable, about 15 minutes as a walk up, and I liked how easy it was to check in on Yelp ahead of time. The food selection is really solid across the board. From veggies and meats to snacks and soups and stews, everything was fresh and hit the spot. If you're looking for something similar to Chubby Cattle but without the chaos and at a great price for Wagyu, this is definitely the move. I also want to give a huge shoutout to our server Tri. Even though it's a self serve style restaurant, he stayed on top of everything, constantly changing out our grill and making sure we were good the entire time. He even made a custom spicy sauce for me that took everything to the next level. It's his own secret recipe, so I guess we've got a great reason to come back. Our favorite meats were the Wagyu steak and Wagyu short plate. The Wagyu short plate had a lemony sauce on it which I was nervous about but I ended up loving it. The yakiniku sauce on the table was also pretty good but it wasn't really needed for the short plate. Overall, I did enjoy my meal. However, it felt like a limited selection of meats. I also felt like the grill was small even for two people so we'd kind of have to take turns with our meats. Our flame was also one sided so that could've played a part since we could only just use half of our grill. I'm glad the drinks were included but I would've enjoyed a hot tea to wash down my palette instead of relying on a sugary beverage. Walk in only for the time being. The wait was expected to be 44 to 59 minutes when we arrived just before 6 on a Friday evening. We were seated in under half an hour. Elvis was our server, he was terrific, guiding us through the experience and even cooked the first round for us. Elvis was attentive without being intrusive. He took excellent care of us throughout dinner. Encouraged my girlfriend to download the chubby app to start earning points on tonight's dinner. Lots of wagyu meat offerings, sushi rolls and nigiri. shrimp, chicken, pork, and veggies as well. It's AYCE so go back as many times as you want within the 90 minutes. My bf and I saw the sign that they were going to open something that looked like kbbq and have been anxiously waiting for it to open since we miss Gyu kaku being here. They have a very modern and unique ambiance which is family friendly but also like a bar vibe. It is loud and it can be crowded as most kbbqs. For the food, let me start by saying that it is not the best meat quality, for sure not Wagyu. Some meats were gamey specially the Australian lean meat there meats were on the tougher side. We definitely didn't like the soup dumplings. I only ate one. They were just not what i expected and the flavour not my type. On the flip side, the hot bar was really good! Takoyaki, lobster dumpling, fried rice, the sushi was good with seared salmon, and the veggie shumai were some of our favorites. For the meats they did have some that were ok, but wouldn't come back just for the meats. I think this is a fun place that has a wide variety of food options. Came to Wagyu Factory to try the Chubby Groups more affordable restaurant. For lunch it is $40 but $35 if you are a member. Everything here is self service so once you sit down you can go check out their hot bar, meats, sushi, dessert and drink selections. They had about 10 options for the hot bar, 20 yakiniku options and 10 options for their sushi. I mainly tried their different cuts of beef. I did prefer their thinner cuts such as the beef tongue and short ribs. They were tender if you don't grill them for too long. The thicker and bigger pieces of meat were on the chewier side. But this isn't Chubby Cattle and you get what you paid for. It is still good but I also can't compare it to their big brother. The sushi here was good. They were constantly making new rolls and nigiri because people kept on getting plates of sushi. The salmon was fresh and buttery. The tofu pocket sushi had lots of tuna on top and was my favorite out of everything. The wagyu burger was another on my favorite. The patty was juicy and the spread inside was oozing out. They had the same burger at Wagyu Master that I enjoyed last time as well. Our server came around every so often to change the wired grill and pull the plates. They have a 100 minute dining experience so it was just the right amount of time. I am happy that there is a chubby cattle co establishment near me now! If I had to describe it, Wagyu factory is kind of the faster, more casual and less fancy version of chubby cattle restaurants. The wait wasn't too bad at 5:30 on a weekend (less than an hour) for our group of 5. We were immediately greeted by a friendly server. I forgot his name but he was very cheerful and explained the process well. Throughout our meal he was very attentive and was proactive about picking up the plates. I like that the place is no fuss and you basically grab whatever meats you'd like and as much as you like without waiting for it to arrive. I kind of prefer this option because you get to eat right away instead of waiting for them to bring the meats to you. It was protein heaven! They had a variety of side dishes and even curry, tacos, sushi, etc. There was a lot of options for kids as well. The space itself is a bit tight and claustrophobic so keep that in mind if you have a larger party. There is limited parking in the back. Went for early dinner tonight (Thursday) around 545 and luckily there wasn't a big wait. Wish I could've written a better review for this place as social media had boasted about it but it didn't quite live up to standards. Although our server Thomas was super friendly, attentive and informative the food was not so "Wagyu" level. For $49.50 pp, I was expecting the meat quality to live up to its name. I'd say it was a little overpriced for what was offered. Most of the meats were kind of tough. Of all the beef we got, there was only about 2 of them that were tender, which was more of a brisket type of cut. The thicker meats were not so much. The veggie bar was good, a variety of veggies you can dip in the sauces. The hot foods I didn't bother to get but I'm sure it's great for little kids. I've been to almost all the chubby franchise location including the Wagyu factory in Rancho and sad to say this one in particular was a bit disappointing. We came for the lunch special w/ membership but note, your chubby membership does NOT apply unless you have a specific kind. There's a difference between chubby one and chubby plus and you'd have to pay extra for the other tier membership for the discount to apply which is a bit confusing because I had no problems using my membership at the rancho location. Just something for note. Usually I love a buffet style lunch but i think it would make sense to keep it to just the sides because grabbing your own meat was a bit of a challenge. Meat comes out inconsistently and the station becomes overcrowded fast. The establishment is a bit too small for everyone to all stand up and grab their own meats. Had to awkwardly stand in weird sides and wait to grab the slice that I want and only ifff it was there. All the supporting side dishes was ok to me. Udon lacked flavor so I added curry to it but realized soon that the curry was very runny in texture. No corn cheese, lobster rolls, etc in the lunch menu btw. A bit of a false advertisement in social media from influencers but just fyi. Only in dinner menu. Sushi was good :) probably the redeeming quality of this place but my sister who did mainly eat that ended up with stomach problems almost immediately after we left the place so could only assume it was one of the fish. It's $50 ayce waygu, not the best cuts not for $50 it's worth it- considering many kbbq ayce is around that price point It's pretty small inside and with people getting their own meats it gets crowded to walk, this is the only downside. Also, seafood was not fresh- i tried the lobster roll and it tasted fishy. All of the seafood at all the chubby groups location isn't fresh. I'd recommend stop serving seafood and replace it with either more cuts of wagyu or other dishes. Definitely will be back. read more

A great concept of buffet style and KBBQ - however, the execution of this concept did not hit the marks: the frozen meats didn't look like they were of great quality, the rice comes from a machine, and the hot curries didn't look good. Sushi bar looked okay at best, would rather go to an AYCE sushi for better (and less dry) looking fish. Our server was very insistent that we needed to download their app in order to eat there, mentioning our lack of download affects his performance with management/ownership, which was off-putting and confusing. Like, some of the marinated stuff had no taste. The meats were not the best. I know there were sauces to dip your meats, but even at that it didn't help. We tried the salt w/sesame oil, didn't do it. We didn't overcook our meats either. We cooked it to 70-80% like recommended, but still it didn't help. The miso soup was super salty. I had to add water to dilute it. The sushi offered, we're all California (crab/avocado) based with different sub-par slivers of fish on top. 2 different nigiri options which weren't the greatest either. They do offer a "dessert", which is like a Swiss roll cake. Almost like a sponge cake rolled with cream. It was ok. Overall, for the price, we are just one and done with this place.
