I really appreciated that he gave us time to eat each order instead of rushing in as soon as the meat was placed. This was my first time visiting Chubby Cattle at the Topanga Mall location, and it definitely won't be my last. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table for two, which was a great start. Our waitress, Taida, was amazing--very attentive, personable, and kind. She was always on top of clearing our empty dishes, changed out the metal grill without us even having to ask, and gave us excellent recommendations throughout the meal. The meats were high quality and flavorful, and the sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Everything we tried was on point. We are also members of the Chubby Club, and if you plan on coming here more than once, the membership discount is absolutely worth it. Please note that there is an overall 90-minute seating time limit, which is good to keep in mind when planning your visit. Please note that this location is located at the Owensmouth entrance of the mall, right by Sanrio and Target. Parking is convenient with plenty of available spaces. read more

Celebrated a birthday at Chubby Cattle recently. Party of 6 (3 couples) and had absolutely the best service by Lewis and Kent! We arrived a bit early as we wanted to do some shopping before dinner since this location is inside of the Topanga Mall. We headed over to Chubby Cattle at about 5pm to add our name onto the waitlist. At about 7ish, our table was ready! The place was packed with customers but it looked like everyone was enjoying their meal and company. As soon as we sat down, we were offered a full rundown on the menu, pricing and how to place meat orders. Our party opted for the Gold package because this is what the server suggested as it was our first time. We had a great selection of meats, including Wagyu cuts. You're allowed to place an order for meats every 7 minutes but depending on the tier you select, you are only allowed 1 specialty meat(s) per person. Since we were a fairly large party, we got to try plenty of different cuts. All of the Wagyu cuts are wonderful! The dining experience also includes a huge self serving bar where you'll find dumplings, fruits, veggies, Wagyu sliders and sooo much more. FYI, the sliders were delicious!! We loved this restaurant so much, we ended up purchasing a yearly membership for $28. This membership gives you many perks, including membership pricing for you +1guest for future visits. After having an experience in little Tokyo location, honestly I'm really glad this location has open the qualities a lot better at the Services a walk smoother. The space is nicer and the side dishes are a lot more fresh and consistently refilled. Our server was Lewis. The only negative thing I have to say about it is I wish there was more traditional side dishes but then again this is a Japanese BBQ not Korean and I just love my cucumbers. So I love Korean barbecue and I have an affinity for Japanese barbecue as well, so when this place opened up, I was excited to try it. Let's start with the: I tried the silver, and I have plans to come back and try the gold and the silver was pretty good! The Wagyu short Plate was easily our favorite! That said, the meat on its own does not justify the price. The area that is really unique is the self serve bar, which has a bunch of high-quality desserts and sides. Unfortunately, if a side is out, they are not great about refilling it. However, the ones they did have were really good. I would pay special attention to the dumplings and the egg tarts. They also have a time limit system like many of these places, but unlike a lot of them, they are very strict about it. We were two people to a grill, which is about the best ratio you could hope for, and we still could not eat as much as we were at other restaurants. You also order an iPad system which enforces the time limit. This is probably the biggest downside of this place and what enables them to offer so many high quality meats. Lastly, the service: our server Arshia was a class act! He was incredibly amazing and helped us whenever the kitchen dropped an order or helped us with recommendations. Really really went above and beyond! Besides our server, though, many times we would put an order in on the iPad and we would never receive it. Also, they seem slow about refilling the sides which I mentioned earlier. In summary, great meat, great sides, price is high, time limit is rough so you won get as full, and Service is excellent! If it wasn't for the high price combined with the short time limit, I would give it 5 stars! read more

And of course the meats were all fantastic, especially the pork belly. Takoyaki was fresh and hot. Sushi and curry were both delicious. However we put in and were charged for several orders that were not brought out, and the wait time was over 3hrs resulting in us not getting the full time to eat before they closed the kitchen, when we were told it would be 2hrs at maximum. Head towards Target on the 1st floor. They do not take reservations by phone, but you can add yourself to the waitlist with their iPad by the front door. Then you can see your spot on the waitlist via the Yelp app. Grade A, 5 star service with Rhenar. I was super excited that I don't have to drive out for chubby cattle anymore. As for the flavor of the chubby cattle here, I don't know, it just didn't hit like the SGV location. The orders were backed up. We already got dessert because we thought we got everything since it took so long to get our orders. We started eating dessert then we started getting more food again from the kitchen that was orders ago. Receiving orders from the kitchen here is very delayed. The flow of walking into the restaurant is awkward from the front to the self serve area and tables.
