Came here on a Saturday. It was late lunch (around 3p) and we had the whole place to ourselves except for another family. We got to choose where to sit and the servers were attentive when we asked them to. it was cool to watch them hand spin the noodles. What we swallowed: *BRISKET STIR FRY NOODLE: delicious. On a cold day this place is the BOMB!! Is tuck in the plaza with a huge door to get in. The place is modern and clean. The waitress will take your order and they are super friendly. We have two young kids that were really starving. What kept us focused was how amazing the service and food was. The staff was so attentive, family oriented and accommodating. I was really looking forward to trying this spot, especially for their hand-pulled noodles, but overall the experience was just okay. We ordered the pork steamed dumplings, shu mai, and shrimp dumplings -- all of which were fine but nothing really stood out. The dumplings were a bit tough and not as flavorful as I'd hoped. The edamame and cucumber salad were fresh but pretty standard, and the pork over rice bowl was also just average. On the positive side, the pricing was reasonable, the service was good, and the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. Xiao Long Bao: pretty good for Denver. The shell is one of the thinnest in the area and the flavor was great! Some of them were missing soup though. Beef noodle soup: we got the hand-cut noodles and they were the perfect Al Dante texture! The broth was light and flavorful with the tender and fatty beef prices. And the bok choy was cooked but still had a good crunch! A solid hand pulled noodle restaurant! I love hand pulled noodles and was impressed with my meal here. Lan's Noodles is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. My husband and I arrived for lunch just before 1pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. We started off with the steamed pork dumplings, pan fried pork buns, then got Beef noodles with hand pulled noodles and Beef Brisket with knife cut noodles. Someone else had mentioned that the steam pork dumplings were sweet? I didn't really get this but my husband mentioned this. I think it comes from the chives instead of green onions and the dumpling sauce is more on the sweet side. I took the leftovers home as they are quite large and had it with soy sauce and vinegar and they tasted much better (in my opinion. I love black vinegar and dumplings). The pan fried dumplings are honestly my favorite of the meal and the closest to the sheng jian baos I love and grew up eating in the Bay Area. The outside was more breading and fluffy as in a traditional sheng Jian bao and the bottom was crispy (could be even more crispy :) ). The noodles broth was flavorful and had a good amount of beef and daikon and bok choy. If you like more al dente noodles, get the hand pulled noodles. If you like softer noodles, get the knife cut. I like more al dente noodles but wish they could make them in a wide version. Overall, I was very impressed with my first meal at Lan's. The only thing I would change is if they could add black vinegar and soy sauce as condiments on the table. I will definitely be returning. read more

The staff was helpful making suggestions. We had the beef soup, pork dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was good but not exceptional. For me, this is 5 stars based on two things - the price, and the novelty. It's very very difficult to find handmade noodles here in Denver, and they do it well, with an array of dumplings and starters to choose from. My only note is: the dumpling fillings are weirdly sweet? I would reconsider the formula here, and add the availability of ginger and vinegar for your XLB offerings. read more

Really good sauce for the stirfry base as well, and tasty white meat chicken. I also tried the chili wonton. It was busy when we walked in wIth only one server. It was still great. Didn't take long and everything was so good. The soup in the xao long bao was very different and so flavorful. The womtons were flavorful, not spicy though. You can kick up the spice by mixing that chili oil on the table, Sriracha, and their dumpling sauce..that's the stuff! All very reasonable. My husband and I came here for one last date night before our second daughter arrived. It was empty so that was a bit concerning. But the experience and food were really great, especially for such a great price! The handmade noodles were delightful and the broth had a nice oily-ness to it... which to me is a sign of a flavorful broth. The dumplings were all solid. We purposefully came for a 5pm spot since we had 6 people. This place was a bit busy, but didn't seem too crazy. We had seated and no one came by for a hot minute. But we were able to order fairly quickly and they were kind enough to ask how to split the bill ahead of time. Food came out apps first then noodles second. The beef brisket noodle soup was beautiful, smelled delicious, and full of every ingredient. Daikon was cooked and had a bit of a crunch to it. I added the Taiwanese marinated egg for $1.50 and it came in a separate bowl. We loved the broth, clean, flavorful, and heart warming. The only spices or seasonings on the table was a perfectly crisp chili oil and their dumpling sauce which seemed like a mixture of soy sauce and black vinegar. I loved dipping my noodles in both. The noodles are hand made, I wish I tried the hand cut noodle version over the regular. I was happy with what I got though. I'd skip the egg. It was hard, rubbery, and cold. Clean restaurant and service was nice and quick when we went early summer. Some of the dishes were surprisingly good. The beef knife cut noodle soup was great and light but it's very different than what I'm used to - this has a light broth and lighter on taste, the daikon could be stewed longer, but the knife cut noodle was decent. A little thicker than the Northeastern Chinese style but delicious nonetheless. My mom probably would really like it here cuz the noodle was not too salty, perfect for the Asian lady's palate. The pan fried pork bun and the chili oil wontons were my favorite items, more flavorful for sure. I definitely would come back for their rice w the minced meat sauce too. Everything leading up to the actual experience was giving off great vibes. Too bad the actual experience was disappointing. The space is likable and what you would expect. But the dumplings are definitely reheat of frozen, not freshly made. Noddles are made in house, I can tell by the uneven shape of the thick wide variety, and in a stir fry, it's pretty good and very filling (probably can get lunch and dinner out of it) The noodle soup is where it all falls apart. No matter how good the noodles are, if the soup is not good, the whole dish is ruined. Sad to report the soup tasted like canned stock, there's absolutely no sign of ingredients being cooked in liquid for a flavorful broth. Very lacking. Judging from all the dumplings and shiu mai that came out, it seems as though those were sitting on the steamer or under a heat lamp for quite some time. re: skin was a bit tough. All the waitstaff was amazing, friendly and incredibly welcoming. The food on the other hand tasted like something a cross between Fujianese, Canton and Chinese style fusion. It wasn't terrible and tasted middle of the road. Maybe suited for the Panda Express crowd that is looking for "authentic" food of sorts. The dining area is pleasant and thoughtfully executed. I'm very excited to have a hand pulled noodle place open up in Denver. When you walk in, you're greeted with very nice people all around. You can see them making noodles and dumplings in house. It's a nice ambience with enough balance between light and dark. Bathrooms are clean. Plenty of seats available. The food was so delicious. My favorite was the pan friend dumplings surprisingly. All very flavorful. The noodles felt clean and it came with a nice portion. Lots of meet and protein as well. The decor is uplifting and red seems to be the predominant color. Love! They make all their noodles in house. Whether it's hand pull or Knife Cut. The former reflects the name of the business. Short for Lanzhou (hand pull). We had the pleasure of trying a few of his really flavorful dishes which are featured here. I have two personal faves. Can you guess which ones? Honestly, not much to rave about this place. Horrible service for my party of 2. We were seated without any water and had to almost hunt somebody down to ask for water and tell them we were ready to order. That entire situation took around 10 minutes. The spicy cucumbers came out first and they were nicely marinated in the sauce and I liked that they skinned the cucumbers. However, it wasn't really spicy at all so that could be improved. Our beef noodle soup came out after and I asked if I could get a smaller bowl to share. The soup was really light which tasted nice but that's not how beef noodle soups are supposed to taste like. So I wouldn't really categorize their item as beef noodle soup but just noodle soup with ingredients. The best way to explain it would be that their noodle soup is like a pho version. Traditional Beef noodle soup is way more flavorful and this does not compare. After finishing up our noodle soup, our soup dumplings haven't arrived yet so I asked what the status on it was. Turns out, they never put in the order at all. When it did come out, to our surprise, it only came with 5 pieces and the price was $12. The wrapping used was way too thick as well. The soup dumplings broke apart when trying to pick it up because it was overcooked. This didn't taste good at all. Definitely avoid ordering. Overall wasn't a good experience. Service was severely lacking for our table. Food didn't taste that great either. I wouldn't come back in the future. I'd rather go to other Chinese food spots. read more

Before we start with the negative, I do wanna take a minute and point out the positives because this place did have a few of them. The staff was extremely polite and attentive. The space is large and done nicely. They did have a lot of handwritten paper signs that looked a little worse for wear on the doors so they might consider switching to a laminated piece of paper. Their bathrooms were also very clean and had changing tables. A hook on the door or wall would've been great because I had no place to put my bag. I liked that the menu had pictures on it. They offer à la carte options as well as a few set menu options for lunch. I ordered option B which came with a choice of dumplings and a soup. It was $21 and I also got a tea making it just under $30. This for me is where things started to go a little bit downhill. I am from Taiwan and their shave noodles and hand pulled noodles are both extremely popular as well as beef noodle soup. I just got back from Taiwan last month so in my mind, I had expected the items I got to be comparable to the authentic meal in Taiwan. The pictures and the videos that I had seen of the restaurant looked like the authentic meal. But none of it tasted that way. The soup was a very generous portion and it was very beautifully presented. I like shave noodles so I got it with that option and it had a lot of similar toppings to the authentic beef noodle soup dish from my childhood. However, The broth was a clear broth and had very little flavor in my opinion. They had chili oil at the table and I added some of that in as well as a generous amount of soy sauce in that did improve things a bit . I think if they would've made the broth with light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, a little bit more spices, and an orange peel, it would've given it a little bit more flavor. Shaved noodles are supposed to be thick and chewy but not slimy . Unfortunately, these were noodles overcooked. I recommend cooking them at a higher temperature for a shorter period of time. They were also cut too small. Most of my noodles were one to 2 inch pieces Which could have contributed to their mushy-ness. I had asked the server what was better the steamed dumplings or the soup dumplings. He had said they were about the same and I said OK your choice just bring me out one. I ended up with the soup dumplings, but they looked more like steamed buns. The skin was very thick and the first one I had had soup in it, but the ones after that did not. The flavor wasn't terrible, but I would not order it again. I generally am not too critical on my reviews. I really wanted to like this place, but I was very disappointed in the lack of flavor and technique of the food. I highly encourage the chef to look into authentic beef noodle soup recipes to understand the things that are missing. read more

Heard some hype about hand pulled noodles in Denver, and went to check this place out! There was a 30+ min wait to get a table, but once I was seated the food came out really quickly! I sat at the counter with a prime view of dumplings being created from scratch. Overall the experience was good, but next time I would come during off-hours to avoid the long queue at the door. The shiu mai is excellent! 10/10. The soup dumplings were ok, more like regular dumplings as they barely contained any soup, but otherwise fine. The ingredients in the beef combo noodle soup are good but the broth itself was rather bland. I added chili oil which helped but it still needed a bit more salt. I enjoyed the variety of beef cuts, including tendon. The hand pulled noodles were spot on. I took most of the beef noodle soup home, and after soaking up the chili oil overnight and adding some salt the leftovers were great! read more

I think they should provide soy sauce at the tables because many people won't realize it's black vinegar. I prefer soy for dumping with a dash of vinegar and chili oil. Portions were generous and pricing felt fair and I appreciated the packaging of the noodle soup so the noodles didn't get overcooked! But the bottoms of the xlb were still slightly raw on all but one - I actually gagged eating them. The beef was really tender but the overall flavor of the soup was lacking - I ended up adding a ton of sriracha. OMG - don't go!!! The food was all horrible and disgusting- and sooooo expensive for potions served. And my wife suffered a violent digestive tract attack about an hour later. I was very surprised at how many people were there. I have to believe the majority were there the first time. It's alright.....thats all I got, I'm pretty indifferent about the experience. The food came out quickly after we ordered but nothing truly activated my taste buds but it sure was pretty! The shumai was good, similar to what you would find at dim sum. The soup dumplings were ok, pork bins ok and beef noodle soup, you guessed it, ok. I'm usually there to get my broth on but it did not have a lot of flavor so that was a disappointment.
