The only good thing about this second visit is that the service and atmosphere is really good as usual. I don't know what happened since I last came here 4 months ago. First, it changed from AYCE. Okay, great. I won't have to worry about price creep due to the excitement of the restaurant's night market concept. Second, I'm not sure if I should go get the lottery because I feel like this is now my second time with the Chubby franchise where our premium seafood dish was absolutely disgusting and inedible. I should have written a review for the first time this happened to me, but I forgot. The Dungeness crab and the lobster were both either not fresh at all or overcooked or both. Then, they were doused with way too much butter and garlic. The crab was crumbly. Why was it crumbly?! I really tried to stuff myself because my friend took me here for my birthday dinner. Then, I started to gag and everything else became completely unappetizing and I could no longer continue eating. I drank water for the rest of the meal as my friend tried to finish what she could. I told the waitress and the restaurant, and they tried to make it up to us. I declined because I just wanted to leave. Third, I got some sashimi the last time I was here and really liked them. This time, there was a fish I couldn't identify aside from the salmon that tasted fishy. Then the soy sauce meant for the sashimi was not meant for sashimi and was sweet. Fourth, I got a squid skewer, shrimp skewer, as well as the some dumplings and chicken feet. What could go wrong? I couldn't stomach any of these, but I tried anyways because I didn't want my friend to pay for having too many leftovers. They were not good. They were rubbery, bland, or just chalky. Lastly and most disappointing of all, my friend and I selected the tomato broth and lobster broth for the hot pot. I innocently went about my usual routine of fishing out the spinach, tong ho, and first meat out of the lobster broth. I happily dipped it into my personally customized sauce, placed some veggies in my mouth, and froze. I then put my chopsticks down, and my friend looked at me knowingly that there was something wrong with the lobster broth. It was extremely greasy and rich. It was as if they put a whole stick of butter in the lobster broth. I can't come here again. Staff and service are impeccable, and I hate to leave this kind of comment, but I might be sick after this meal. I am currently waiting for my friend to come back to the table so we may leave in case I feel worse.

The food at chubby mart was delicious! We upgraded to the +$20/pp menu which came with one lobster or Dungeness crab per person and the unlimited a5 Wagyu meats. I would say the upgrade was definitely worth it! The food tasted fresh and the meat quality was good. They had so many variety of foods to choose from that it felt a bit overwhelming. It felt like a Vegas buffet. Giving it 4 stars because they are super strict with the time limit. You're limited to 1.5 hr to look around and grab food to eat. It sounds like a lot of time but it flies by when there are just so many options to choose from. Also giving it a 4 star because our server was a bit difficult to get a hold of and wasn't really as friendly. As for wait times, we waited about 40 minutes on a Sunday at 6 pm. Not too bad. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and would come back! Worth a try!

Food: There are many food options, including hotpot, sushi, meats, and seafood Service: service was great! They explained the menu selection! Staff was very friendly and helpful Ambiance: the vibe of this was nice , and huge table spaces! Perfect for family and friends hang outs! It was also organized and cleaned

Service was really good to be honest and the restaurant was well kept and clean but- No grill changes or drain so the oil just pools and any meat placed down would instantly turn black Sushi selection was definitely not as advertised. It's like a cheap Asian buffet Not enough servers to change the hotpot so it just turns into goo The ambience was a little brutal. No tvs and super blocked off. Feels like a cyberpunk prison. And finally all the food was insanely greasy. I got sick of everything about 30 min in and was just waiting for my 2 hours to be up. Also it seems like they ditched the whole "mart" schtick. No more baskets or walk around carts.

Came with a group of 8 and our party was split but next to each other since they dont have tables large enough to accomodate everyone in one. Which was fine. If i came back id only go for the seafood. Clam and shrimp. The rest was ok. I didnt like the grilled meats at all but the hotpot was good. They have alot to choose from. The clams however are good but arent cleaned. Had a couple where there was alot of sand in it. They have quail eggs :) Peking duck, i would wait until there is no line then get it. Otherwise you spend awhile there since the person has to cut it up. The cod was cold and they just brought it out. Sad that it wasnt hot or it wouldve been good. The drink were in the fridge but all of them werent cold cold and there was no place to grab ice Service was okay. The lady ignore our side of the table. I had to get tong, soup spoons, request for water, cups. When i asked for ice, she gave me a bucket. Their shot glasses are small smalll smalllllll cups. Smaller than a normal shot glass but 2/3. Water from the ac was dripping on us. The far corner was super hot because the ac didnt blow towards us. Probably the worst spot.

    Vicky R.

I hope they will upgrade their AC and ventilation. The ++$20 menu was whatever, nothing really impressed me. Food quality is still good but i just hope they can serve food quicker since you have time limit for dining time.

We got a good corner away from the busy crowd that was nice Sushi was great Meat was good Shabu was nice There was a small wait but we took our steps around the plaza Honestly I got lost hahahahh ... forgot how to get back to my table and exit the place It truly felt like a market how quiet busy it was ... not too crowded but people moving The energy was fun

Boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary!! I have now been here 3 times now and absolutely love it! The lobster broth is my favorite!! I also love going during dinner time for their sashimi! I love how they have such a wide variety for me to choose from. I'm such an indecisive person so it definitely helps! I would recommend skipping the skewers and going straight to the grill meats and the hot pot meats! The beef tongue and pork belly were our favorite. Salmon sashimi was also delicious! ALSO, their drinks selection is top tier!! I love being able to try and drink as many drinks as we want!

To start with chubby needs better ventilation as I see two mini splits on one side of the building where we were seated was not doing us justice. Too bad for the other areas of the restaurant. They did have these blowers but all that was moving dead area around. The poor staff had to wear these dumb looking vests that were making them perspire and uncomfortable while performing their duties. Though they did check on us often and get us various things for our dining pleasure I felt bad for them. This was our first time here and we were celebrating my friend's birthday. It was once plate per plate dining but recently they changed it to AYCE and probably for the best. You get to order on an iPad for your shabu meats though it's quite slow for the meats to come to your table but that was okay since I got the majority of my foods at the readymade section. I got plenty of lamb skewers already cooked, sushi and raw fish for my shabu along with vegetables. They had an area for uncooked beef tongue where you cook on a plate in the middle of their hotpot cooking device. Other Wagyu beef tongue were either bbq or just lightly put in the boiling pork bone soup. You also get your own drinks in the refrigerator but you can't leave the restaurant with it. You can get free wifi while in the restaurant but you only get 90 minutes so you're not really enjoying internet while needing to fill your tummy before the time is up. In our selection of $45 per head we each got either a half lobster tail or half Dungeness crab. I got the crab but I'd like a dry spicy rub next time please. Make sure you add yourself to the Yelp waitlist prior to showing up to save yourself a place in line plus make sure your entire party is there to be seated. Even though we added ourselves to the waitlist early we still waited one hour. They have plenty of parking in the parking lot and if not park underground. No street parking.

I saw several friends dine here and decided to give it a try. We were quoted a two hour wait but were pleasantly surprised to be seated in just 40 minutes. Our server, June, provided friendly and attentive service for our table. The meat was fresh, the crab was delicious and not overly salty, especially when dipped into the hot pot. For $49.99 for a member per person, I thought the value was excellent. Great food, reasonable prices, and a wonderful experience overall!

Lobster broth and Wagyu Tallow. Short plate bbq

A lot of variety to choose from! There is hot pot & bbq that you can cook at your table and many items that are ready to eat. There is a 90 minute time limit. If you are a qualified Chubby plus member or NFT holder, you can make reservations, which lessons the wait time for busy days. I'm a Silver member so it was easy to make Fathers Day reservations and we were seated within 15 minutes of checking in at opening. You can choose 2 broth choices for hot pot, and they're free upgrades if you're members, otherwise for example, Lobster broth is $5 extra. The skewer station gets busy and can run out until they make more. Since it's made right there, there may be a short wait for refills during busy times. However, don't go just to eat a bunch of skewers, especially when you can just go to Chubby Skewers! There's fresh crab, mussels and clam, which are a good size. You can get your usual hot pot items (veggies, noodles etc.). They have sushi rolls and sashimi. They had a sushi taco which had a fried seaweed shell and my son had the eel one and he said he'd eat it again. They also had a chopped fish version (tuna?) as well. It looks big but it was overpowering with rice, which is good so you won't feel like its filling you up. The fried area with taro ball, sesame balls, wagyu pancake etc was also good. The burger was probably one of the better burgers from a Chubby restaurant. Very kid friendly area of food. We enjoyed the short plate and Australian wagyu steak for the grill. Love that they provide seasonings to go with it on the tray. The hot pot meat was also good. The Peking Duck station got set up at 12:30pm and the line started forming. Given the time limit to eat, it was a time killer waiting in the line for 2 small wraps on the plate eaten in 2 bites. Once the 2 ducks were used, then there was no duck for a while. I think that station needs more support, especially busy days. We loved the variety of drinks in the fridge!! All sorts of teas, soy milk, plum juice, chrysanthemum tea etc. For our family of 4, it ended up being a little bit of hot pot and and a little grilling with eating the stuff at the stations. We probably prefer going to a more specialized place (hot pot or bbq) as it was hard to enjoy it all (but we were stuffed!!) But a good first try to check it out.

I don't really eat hot pot - a few times at people's houses, and 3 times at restaurants in all my life (does Shabu Shabu count as hot pot?) - this being my 4th time, but was eating out with a girl friend and we decided to try this place. This place is soo cool! The ambiance is so futuristic and has a layout like a supermarket (thus the name) where go push a cart around and pick what you want to cook up at your table. It's a la carte, so you just pay for what you pick out. Our server was very nice and explained how the whole concept works. The different plate sizes/shapes indicate different prices. Our server came by often to take away plates, refill broth, and our waters. The only thing is that everything adds up REALLY quick. As I said before, I don't normally eat hot pot, so getting a membership was not worth it for me. Yeah I get that you can get a lobster or something for your birthday with the membership, but I don't eat lobster or crab or any of the good stuff so it's not worth it for me. And because we didn't get the membership, we had to pay regular price for the sauces, the broth, and all the items we picked up. For the two of us eating 2 plates of chicken, 1 plate of pork, tofu, fishballs, and some veggies it came out to over $100 (which my friend told me is not normally how much hot pot costs her). Yikes! Probably worth it if you are a hard core hot pot aficionado, have a membership and eat at the chubby restaurants a lot. I am glad I got to experience this place, but it's a one and done thing for me.

This place was super hyped on TikTok and there was a buzz around this concept of a market to table experience. Food: 3/5 Unfortunately, the food was quite a letdown. There is a huge variety that includes kbbq, hotpot, sushi, skewers, and dim sum. However, they are definitely the "Jack of all trades, master of none." None of the food was truly bad but none of it was really good either. This place is essentially a glorified buffet. The Korean bbq meats on the fattier sided and there was no premium items like beef tongue or pork jowl. The hotpot had the best selections of meat, but they lacked a lot of essentials like popping fish balls, spam, and chrysanthemum (tong ho). The skewers were good, but they cook those super slow and the like to get them took forever. They should regulate the lines by allowing only two per person because people were grabbing like 10 which made the wait impossible. Lastly, the sushi and dessert bar were pretty good. Service: 4/5 We got reservations, so we did not have to wait too long to get in. We got seated right away and we have 70 minutes to order, and 90 minutes to finish our food. It was plenty of time. The server was nice and explained to us the different broths for the hotpot. The only bad part of the service was, again, the wait it took to get certain food items. Price: 4/5 We got the members pricing and added hotpot to our meal. The total came out to $65 per person after tip and tax. It was worth it for the experience, but not for the food. If I were to spend that amount, I would go to a specialized location that does premium sushi or premium kbbq instead of here. Ambiance: 5/5 This place has a cool concept. It is just a little portly executed. It feels like a buffet right now. Since the food station is all in one big block, it feels a little crowded as well. However, the set up, the atmosphere, and the theme behind is very unique. I would probably not come back here unless it is with friends who want to experience this. Otherwise, the food is not worth the price.

Chubby Mart Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Chubby Mart

Is the hot pot add on per person for ONE hot pot at the table? So for party of 6, that is $30 add on for one hot pot?

The hotpot price is per person. So you are correct for 6 people, it would be $30 more and it's required for everyone in the party. You still get to choose two different soup bases for the table.

Is the membership fee for each person or a whole family? Some locations has 1 membership for up to 4 people. Thanks

1 membership is good for the holder and 1 guest = 2 total.

What is the difference in the AYCE offerings during lunch vs dinner DURING THE WEEK? What is the difference in the AYCE offering during lunch vs dinner SATURDAY and SUNDAY.

A couple differences I noticed is that the Peking Duck is not served during lunch M-Th. Also the giant prawns in the sushi/sashimi section are not brought out until dinner hours which starts at 5 pm.

I am trying to make an online reservation for only 2 people, but the reservation system how a minimum limit of 4 (2 is not in the dropdown--anything less than 4 is not in the drop down). How do I make a reservation for 2 online?

You cannot. For 2 people it is first come first serve

    Minimum 4 people?

There is no minimum requirement by the restaurant but in order to eat a variety of food, more people to share the food is recommended. I had 3 people in my party but still felt we got too much food.

Mon lunch does the cook grill the skewer for you? Or is that only during dinner? For the 2.0

Yes Monday lunch they have the grilled skewers already cooked from the kitchen. For 2.0

Is it all you can eat?

Yes, its now AYCE. They have take out priced per pound.

I'm confused, so you pay for AYCE and pay extra for certain kind of food?

They have standard AYCE, you can pay more to upgrade to premium options (one time specialty dish and unlimited A5 wagyu or unlimited live seafood, etc.)

    How much for AYCE option?

    Prices as of June 2, 2026: Mon-Thurs lunch is $35.99 for members / $39.99 for non-members…

    Is there a time limit?

Now there is a time limit since it's ayce

    How do we make reservations?

You have to be at least Silver tier on the Chubby group app or be a NFT holder to make reservations at any Chubby Group location.

    How much per head?

It's not charged per head it's per plate. The prices are shown as you pick up the plates and charged at the end. Each item has its own price either self service or ordered from the at table menu.

Hi can we reserved a table before we get there?

Only if you are silver tier or NFT holder on the Chubby Group App

    Is the restaurant officially open?

    Yes

The Yelp gods were definitely looking out for us on this one…read more We were craving Korean BBQ while staying near Anaheim, and Yelp pointed us to Gui Gui 9292. It's only a short drive away, and after seeing the $23 lunch special, I honestly thought, "There's no way the food can be this good at this price." I couldn't have been more wrong. For around $23, your server brings out your choice of meats, including brisket, spicy brisket, and paper-thin sliced beef belly. Out of everything we tried, the spicy brisket was hands down my favorite. It had fantastic flavor and quickly became the star of the meal. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a self-serve bar loaded with additional meats, sauces, rice, noodles, vegetables, and a variety of other side dishes. If you're hungry, this place absolutely delivers. It felt like meat overload, in the best possible way. What really impressed me was the attention to detail. They provide different salts, dipping sauces, and plenty of sides so you can customize every bite exactly how you like it. It's clear they care about giving customers a great dining experience, not just serving food. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The value is incredible, especially considering how expensive eating out has become. I only wish I had discovered Gui Gui 9292 sooner. It has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite Korean BBQ restaurants, and I already can't wait to come back. If you're anywhere near Anaheim and craving Korean BBQ, make the short drive to Gui Gui 9292. Your stomach and your wallet will thank you.

I have been to a few Golden Corral locations. This one seems to be the best one. We go here once in…read morea while. We also go here when we have a bday coupon. The coupon required a purchase of one buffet in order to redeem the free buffet. Like a bogo thing... When my mom first introduced me to Golden Corral, we fell in love with their fresh breads & butter. The buffet was still the same like years ago, however, the breads and butter ain't the same. Also, they upgraded a bit with the option to add lobsters. Don't get excited. It ain't ayce lobstaaa lol The buffet offered a salad bar, soups, steaks, Mac & cheese, grilled & fried chickens, pizzas, desserts bar and etc. With the bogo, it was totally worth it. Drinks weren't included in the price. However, you do get unlimited refills and coffees with the drink purchase. Service was always great. Never had a problem. Cleanliness ...not the cleanest, but tolerable

Every dish was either way too salty, way too sweet, or both, bland, offputting or both. Looking at the meatloaf and everything else I just thought depression food. The food tasted awful overall including the soft serve. Filled with sugar and sodium or just yeah felt pretty gross after even though I didn't end up eating much, only trying a bit of a variety of dishes. But yeah an affordable buffet filled with sugar and salt in a country where healthcare isn't cheap. Yikes. Even the roll was chewy or rubbery which was interesting. So yeah if you have at minimum an average human taste buds developed this place is not for you.

Note: the place is a bit small so plan accordingly if you plan on dining in... Pro-tip: get some food and tailgate in your car! Oh, and dont forget to dunk your skewers in their spiced vinegar and house sauce! How to order: Get a tray and pick the skewer(s) you want to eat. Bring your items to the cashier counter and pay. They can grill the sticks for you or you can take them as is and grill them at home. Our favorites: Chicken isaw Pork tenga Pork bbq sticks Tokwa't baboy + gotto Melon juice Sago't gulaman Pork isaw Kare-kare They servers are super friendly and we always feel "at home." Nothing beats filipino hospitality and the nostalgia of being back in the Philippines!

We decided to go to West Covina location because we know the Los Angeles location would be very difficult for parking. Even though West Covina does not do the grill your own which is what our visitors have done before, it was still the better choice between traffic and parking. The difference between the two locations also is West Covina has other food items, such as pancit, diniguan, Chicharron bulaklak, lechon kawali, Balut, some desserts and quite a bit more, compared to Temple location is just the skewered meats. So you give up the fun of cooking it yourself for a diverse menu. I too, like the ability of cooking your own skewers. It's a fun experience and a you can have great conversations with people at the grill. I would return again, however one of the other disappointments is that the name is still Dollar Hits, but the price is now $1.75 per skewer which can add up very quickly if you let your eyes do the picking.
