Had a great dining experience at Chubby Skewers. They open late till 3 am. This spot is very popular, hence, the long wait. Suggest you either come early or later in the evening. The place is pretty cool. Feels like you are at those night market street foods where you sit low to the ground. Once you get your table, just head on over to the skewers and get the different skewers they have there. All sorts of meat cut, seafood, and veggies. Bring them back to your table and start cooking. Cooking was quite fun actually. You know your foods are fresh. Service was pretty good. They clear your table very often. All skewers are $1.20 per skewer. At the end of your meal, they count the number of skewers you had, multiply by $1.20. Very simple process. We had fun dinning here. Would definitely be coming back here for sure!

The first moment you walk in. I thought the service was a bit AWKWARD. I am not sure how to explain it but, it's like they're there but, not there? Anyways, let's go check out the FOOD, I thought to myself... SKEWERS: 10/10 for the Veggies, the fish cake and fish balls... WAGYU: 8/10 Not bad. Just becareful because it cooks really fast!! ALL THE SKEWERS were pretty small. $1.20 each... The tables were VERY LOW! LOW RIDERS!!! I wish we could have some chili oil, ponzu sauce or something liquid. But, I understand that for safety reasons we need to keep it DRY... It's a fun experience to try ONCE!!!! I rather go to the Chubby Cattle or other Chubby groups... CAUTION: There's an automatic gratuity!!!! Not a BAD IDEA CHUBBY SKEWERS!!!!

Chubby Skewers was a unique experience! My husband and I have been wanting to try this one out since it opened. We arrived on a Saturday evening without having a prior reservation. We got there around 8pm and got sat around 9:10pm. There was a wait outside the door already and the plaza was packed. There is parking behind the restaurant. I suggest looking for one there if you can because you could leave through the back. While the wait was longer than we expected and became restless, when we finally sat down and ate, we agreed it was worth it. The tables and seats are at a lower level. It was fine for me because I'm between 5'2 and 5'3, but if you're taller, it may be uncomfortable. If you have a group larger than two, it will be tight. The waiter will explain what areas of the table to be mindful of when you're cooking because they stay hot when the burner is on. There are instructions on the cook time for each protein, veggies, and fruit. All skewers were in the self-serve area. There was also a QR code to order items from the kitchen. Each skewer was priced at $1. There was a promotion for signing up for the Chubby plus membership. I don't remember if it was the first 30 skewers are free or discounted. Please check with the staff. I only have the Chubby Club One membership that applies to Chubby Cattle in Rowland Heights. I learned later that you could still earn points no matter what tier/membership you have. They had a wide array of skewers! We got all their Wagyu options, lamb, okra and veggie kabobs in every round. We also tried their chicken skin, abalone, pineapple, and ordered the cucumber salad from their kitchen. There was self-serve water there too. They had two large dispensers of ice water and one cucumber-infused. After the first round, I found it was easiest to cook all the meats at the same time because they require the same amount before turning over. The Wagyu can burn easily, so keep a close eye on those. Also, the oil will splash a little. You won't be able to sit that far back without bumping into the other party. Again, this was a unique and memorable experience!Similar to having street food in Asia I've heard. So if you're looking for that type of vibe, I would recommend to try this at least once.

Came here on a Monday night around 10 PM and was pleasantly surprised by how busy it still was. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table. There isn't much room to wait inside the restaurant, so most people were standing outside. We chose to wait in our car until we received the text that our table was ready, which made the wait a lot more comfortable. Once seated, the experience was straightforward and fun. The skewers are self-serve, so we grabbed what we wanted and started cooking right away. There's also a QR code at each table that allows you to order additional dishes. The only extra item we ended up ordering was dessert, and I'm glad we did. Their s'mores dessert was excellent and really fun to cook over the grill ourselves. We tried a little bit of everything. The squid and shrimp were standouts for me, although we definitely found ourselves reaching for the Wagyu skewers the most throughout the meal. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Service isn't necessarily very attentive, and you'll usually need to flag down a nearby server if you need something. Also, any food ordered through the QR code can take a while to arrive. Fortunately, since most of the meal is self-serve, it wasn't a huge issue for us. The food is really good, the prices are pretty reasonable, and the overall dining experience is a lot of fun. One thing to note is that they play EDM music throughout the restaurant at a pretty high volume. If you're into that type of music like we are, it definitely adds to the atmosphere. Overall, we had a great time and definitely plan on coming back.

There's usually a long line here, and we waited close to an hour before getting a seat on a Saturday night. You come here for the skewers and not the ambiance because it can be cramped and smoky. All of the skewers are available to pick up at a common area, along with all of the spices (though the spice game could be a little better). I like there are a lot of different skewer options, but make sure to choose carefully as a lot of the skewers are oily with fat and once you pick a skewer you cannot put it back. My favorites are definitely the basic options with brisket (lean and fattier options), short ribs, and lamb, but the tripe and tendon is very tasty too. Overall not a bad spot for skewers, but I do think there are some better ones around the area.

    SANDRA C.

Unique experienced you pick the types of skewers meats and grill yourself. And create your own rub. You pay the number of skewers you ate. We try the Lychees beer and its light & sweet. Good fast service!

Had an amazing time for a friends birthday! An awesome self-serve skewer experience with everything from a variety of beef cuts, pork, lamb, veggies, & seafood. You can also order from their menu as well for other Chinese favorites like Cucumber Salad, alcohol, noodles. I would recommend getting the Chubby Group Subscription, since it does bring down the skewer price from $1.20 to $1 per (our bill discount = the membership) Their system although counting generic metal skewers does know which meat cut you get! Plaza = not a fun parking experience Ambiance = Reminds me of food stalls in Asia Wait Times = 60-90 Minutes on weekends.

Came here with a group for a birthday. First time I've been disappointed by a Chubby Group spot. The place seems different and fun at first, but it gets chaotic fast. The meat selection isn't great, and after a while everything starts tasting the same--you lose track of what you're even eating. With their membership it is not expensive, but honestly it feels like a lot of work for not much payoff. Wait was long, and the back room was really hot. Seating is low, street food style, which sounds cool but isn't comfortable if you're there for a full dinner. Service was good. Staff was helpful and kept clearing plates quickly, which I appreciated given how busy it was. There were a couple good bites in there somewhere... couldn't tell you which ones though. IMO, I rather go visit their other locations for BBQ, this place seems to cater to a younger crowd looking for a few bites of yakitori.

    Alex L.

This place is freaking cool as hell. Feels like your walking into a movie set or a late night food spot you see in another country. However the food was not good. Nothing had flavor. And it smelled terrible like armpit in their im not sure if its cumin but its whatever seasoning they use. Real quick you basically pick out your own meat to take back to your table and cook them on a live fire even with the seasonings just nothing was really good or flavorful.

Parking is difficult Skewers are $1.1 each and the portions are tiny tiny tiny. Like probably 15cents worth of beef (2 small pieces) per 'skewer'. 1 chicken wing is 2 skewers worth. So stingy with the portions. The grill itself is tiny and takes too long to cook the meat. They also charge like $3 seasoning fee (?). The tables are so low I bumped my legs/ knees so many times. Uncomfortable. I spent like $30 and left still starving. Much better off going to AYCE kbbq.

    $1.50/skewer
    Michelle N.

What a great experience! I've only ate at another skewer place so I enjoyed how this place was set up to really be immersed in the experience. Having it be $1.50/skewer is so dangerous with a hungry group like mine! Thankfully, halfway through we had a server keep track of the skewer counts for us. There's a good selection of meats and vegetables, but you definitely need to keep a watch on the sticks so they don't overcook/burn. My group decided to stick some raw garlic onto empty skewers and that changed the trajectory of our whole meal! Definitely will plan to come back! It gets busy so put your names down early.

    Jiliza N.

This place was so hyped, but I don't think it fully lived up to it!! Definitely worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn't go back. The meat selection was pretty limited. I did enjoy the grill-it-yourself setup, that part was fun! But... you have to pay extra for sauces + seasonings I think?, which didn't sit right with me lol. The vibe is very street food style.. cute, but you're sitting on low stools, so not the most comfy. Service was also a bit slow, & there were some communication issues... Overall: fun experience, but not somewhere I'd return to!! Maybe the other chubby places like chubby cattle!

    Thomas C.

Love the food here. Get a skewer, cook it yourself, and enjoy. There's a decent variety of cuts and meats. The ambiance is interesting, it's like those roadside skewer tents in China where you sit on a low stool while cooking over a fire. It's definitely a vibe at Chubby Skewers. It's a bit loud but def still a nice spot to hangout with friends. Only thing I don't like is that once you go into the restaurant, you come out smelling like heavy BBQ. Ventilation doesn't seem to be the best here.

The beef chow fun (HK style) was a bit light on the seasoning, but tasted as expected. Overall, great value for some really good food! Portion wise, we only ordered three dishes and still had plenty of leftovers to take home. Good service, and typical Chinese restaurant ambiance. Definitely will come back to check out their other lunch specials and as well as their lobster dishes. Considering how many Chinese eateries in the area, it's worth checking it out. Parking wise, the park spaces right in front of the restaurant can be filled up quickly as there are only about a dozen spaces, so the safe bet is to park at the large plaza parking spaces to the side of the restaurant.

We pulled up about 6:30 pm - there was a small line at this little converted bicycle as a stand? Just one guy making every order! The crepe was really awesome there was some kind of crispy wanton wrappers, (maybe), a hot dog , 3 eggs, green onion, cilantro, and hot sauce - please do not discount how good the stone milled crepes are! For $10 totally delicious and worth it- every ingredient did its job in the crepe and made every bite a little different and interesting

It took about ten minutes for us to get a booth table, but we were waiting inside. The staff member called numbers firstly in Cantonese then in English. After we sat down, the waiting line persisted past 1 pm. Similarly, the bustling loudness continued on during the course of our meal. Food arrived quickly, however. The price point for the delicious food is competitive. We got French-style filet mignon ($18.99), braised tofu in brown sauce ($14.99), chicken chow mein ($14.99), and a steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork ($5.99). A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting. The atmosphere during the Sunday lunch peak time was consistently bustling. I think the restaurant started to play Chinese music loudly at random points so that people could finish dining more quickly.

We were mainly craving their dumplings and jellyfish appetizer, which we remembered enjoying in the past. The food came out quickly and the portions were a moderate size. The dumplings and jellyfish were great as usual and definitely lived up to what we remembered. The assorted vegetables and the shredded pork with preserved vegetables soup were also both solid dishes. The only disappointment of the night was the House Chicken. It was the first dish to arrive, but it came out only lukewarm, which made us wonder if it had been sitting out rather than made fresh to order. The chicken itself was also pretty dry and almost rubbery in texture, which was unfortunate. Overall, it was still a nice visit, and I would definitely come back for the classic dumplings and jellyfish.

Our meal was served with hot green tea which was perfect. I would say the only downside was that one of the servers appeared visibly sick and kept wiping her nose on her hand or sleeve (eeeek). Thankfully, she wasn't serving us.
