Been hearing a lot about this new Chubby Mart concept from the Chubby Group, so after seeing multiple videos on social media, I decided to give it a try. The concept is a mix of hot pot and Korean BBQ, with the grill in the middle and hot pot around the sides. You grab dishes market-style with a small cart, but just know it's not all-you-can-eat and everything is charged by the plate -- even sauces. They'll also try to sell you a membership for discounts, but honestly the savings basically matched the membership cost, so unless you come often, I personally don't think it's worth it. The place itself felt smaller than I expected from the videos online. I ordered the Wagyu fried rice, crispy pancake, and a couple bao including the braised beef with uni. The soup base was alright, but nothing memorable. A lot of the food felt very oily and greasy. Granted, I ordered a lot of Wagyu, which I expected the richness from that, but I also think part of the issue was the grill setup since there's nowhere for the oil to properly drain like at other Korean BBQ spots. The oil just pooled on the grill while cooking. The Wagyu fried rice lacked flavor and was greasy, the crispy pancake mostly tasted like fried batter and oil, and I could barely taste the uni in the bao. While the food wasn't bad and definitely edible, I personally think there are better spots with more flavor and better quality options. I will say the interior was nice and our server was very attentive and constantly cleared our table, which I appreciated. You put yourself on their yelp eaitlist when you arrive and when it's your turn to get seated they give you a tour of the restaurant and explain when each section is. He was friendly and helped us out since it's our first time. The skewers were surprisingly good! I would suggest making a reservation in advance, so you don't have to wait as long. I visited Chubby Mart with high expectations, as I've been a loyal customer of Chubby restaurants for many years, but this experience left me quite disappointed. I found the service to be incredibly frustrating because the staff was extremely pushy about signing up for their app and purchasing a membership; I was approached by three different people a total of six times, which felt far too "salesy" when I just wanted to enjoy a quiet meal. I eventually decided on the $69.99 hot pot combo, but I felt like I was a victim of a bait-and-switch when I was told at the register that the price was actually $25 more than advertised. I also felt the combo was quite limiting, as it only allowed for 3 choices of meats and seafood. While I have to admit that the meats were the high quality that Chubby is known for, the fried rice was absolutely terrible and clearly made with cheap frozen vegetables. If you are a Chubby member, make sure to make a reservation prior so you can avoid the weight. We came on the weekend and saw people waiting out sit to get a table. I heard the wait time is about 30-60 mins. The staff greeted you and serve you fast. They were friendly to explain the process and check back with us often to clear our dirty plates. Originally we were told the VIP requires a $500 minimum order. The room can hold a good 8-10 people if you are coming in a large party. If not, they do offer tables for 4 or 6 people as their standard tables. But we lucked out bc we were Chubby members and were told they can squeeze us in without the $500 min. Sweet! So what I love about Chubby Mart is this concept is the 1st in teh US. Imagine being back in Asia and grabbing fresh meat, seafood, and veggies fresh (never frozen) and for hot pot and grilled bbq at the same time. They even have sashimi and grilled skewers too! Everything here is a la cart. It's not AYCE Prices are on a bit higher side but better priced if you are a Chubby member! So just remember you pay for what you eat! You only pay per lb on fresh sea food like crab, lobsters, grouper, rubot, razor clam, geoduck and crab fairy! I also like the fact that you can have hotpot and grill in one. The service is alway welcoming and friendly. Brain was our server and the manager was Esra. They ensured we got the best deal even with my membership. Brain was consistent with asking if we needed anything and Esra ensured we didn't forget to get everything with the bundle deal. Always an experience coming to the Chubby Group chain because they have a standard for customer service. I saw this pop up on my TikTok and I feel like this was such a cool concept as they have everything! Hotpot, korean BBQ, and skewers all in one place AND you get to shop for your food? Amazing! However, I didn't realize how overwhelming it can be once I got there. In addition, it is not all you can eat so it can get super pricy if you are planning on coming on an empty stomach. When my partner and I arrived, the hostess was very welcoming and while I appreciated the thorough instructions, it was definitely super chaotic while she was speaking through a mic, fastly walking through all the different stations, all the while blasting music in the background. After being seated and given all the information, we realized that it was all a bit gimmicky as we really only used the hotpot part. We made reservations on a Monday night, but it was actually really empty there lol. Not busy at all, even during prime time. This place used to by X Pot, so it's located in the plaza with half and half, junbi, tesla supercharger, etc. I like how when you first enter, the staff takes you on a tour to go around on the options you get to explore. Wagyu station, skewers, live seafood, hot pot items, skewer items, drinks, and more. There's also a bao station and sashimi here too. Once you're seated, they start you off with the hot pot broths. Our server recommended that you order the skewers and bao first since they all take awhile. So we just went ahead and started with the skewers then took a look around to get our items. I wanted my parents to pick the items with them, but they seemed so overwhelmed with the options tbh lol. Also all the bigger texts were in English, so they didn't want to bother with the Chinese... I wanted them to get more engage with the shopping aspect (cause I thought it would be a fun idea together), but they simply just want the food to appear on the table lol. So I went ahead and grabbed the wagyu meats, ordered skewers, got the boston lobster, a bunch of a hot pot items and the bbq meats. First, the skewers were all pretty good! Very flavorful, especially the fatty parts. The wagyu meats were also really good, especially since we got the lean ones, they weren't too fatty. The live seafood was also pretty good, but the most expensive. The lobster was honestly pretty small. Two lobsters (steamed) were $52... The hot pot items were also solid, they charge a sauce bar fee as well. BBQ meats are on the saltier side, especially the beef tongue. A lot of it was all pretty salty. We also tried the unagi and it was salty. Overall, it's a fun experience and it's great its pretty controlled on what you wanna eat instead of AYCE. A place that offers BBQ, Hot Pot, and Skewers ALL IN ONE!! Crazy combination (yes) but after ordering, eating, and dining, I can say this place is fun and delicious! Chubby Mart is part of the "Chubby" food lineup - for those familiar it's of the same family as Chubby Cattle - so having a membership (crazy I know) to this restaurant gives you discounts. I know what you're thinking, not another membership, but it is on a yearly basis and you save just as much money as is the cost of the membership, so it's definitely worth if you come to this establishment 3 times. This restaurant offers a variety of foods from wagyu beef and short ribs to lamb and sushi. Be prepared though as each item is priced individually. EVERYTHING is a la carte!! This is a different concept with BBQ and Hot pot as most places are AYCE, but at least you can cost control if you like to moderate your food. Ordering your food is fun as you get to hold this metal cart and "shop" around for foods you want. This goes for all BBQ, hot pot, and seafood items - so load up if you want! Its almost like you're a kid in a huge mart lol Pricing per plate/item are listed on each respective storage area so just keep an eye out as it's easy to rack up a bill. The only things you order on the table tablet are the skewers, buns, and alcohol. The place also has a self serve sauce bar which is delicious! The hotpot broths are good with ample hot pot flavors and delicious depth. The skewers also came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm not a fan of lamb, but even the lamb wasn't gamey at all! Delicious - if you don't like lamb flavor obviously. The highlight was the barbeque and the seasoning for sure! The meet is marbled well and gets a good crispy char on it. Paired with the seasoning sauce that comes with the meat, it is a HUGE YUM! For pricing, my friend and I (with membership pricing) walked out paying ~$75 each including tip, but keep in mind we can eat a good amount. This includes 2 meat plates for BBQ; 2 meat plates and 2 veggie plates for hotpot; 2 plum juice; 1 pancake; and 8 total skewers. The staff is nice (we had June) and if it's your first time they will even give you a tour of the place! First off, I'm rounding up to 4, but this is not quite there for me. We arrived pretty early so we could get seated in the first round and we succeeded! After queuing outside to get a number, we were moved to queue inside where they gave us a little tour of the place and then seated at our table. With the exception of the hostess at the front before opening, staff was friendly and welcoming. The servers were super great. The tour walked us through the different food areas and then how we should place the different orders, and how the "shopping carts" work. FYI, skewers replaced on the screen at your table. We ordered the lobster and the passion fruit broth. The lobster is delish! I would love to see this broth roll out at other chubby locations. The passion fruit was good, but ended up too tart for us. Ingredients were all good, but the ordering of meats was a bit of a hassle and there were no prices when we were there. We skipped the live seafood and just grabbed a few plates of smaller items so we could try more things. When we returned to the able, our bao station stuff had already arrived; good stuff, but nothing special or different. We threw some stuff into the pot and headed to the sauce bar......where we promptly joined the queue. Can't say it moved quickly, but it moved. The skewer stuff spices and hot pot stuff are all together, which I think might have been a possible reason for the hold up. Overall, we left stuffed, without eating dessert, but the overall consensus was we'd probs not be back if there was a wait. More like a 3.5, so I'm rounding up. I liked this place as Wagyu House by The X Pot, looked super fancy and like you were teleported into historical China in the past. Loved the changing mask dance performance and the little room that helps to get rid of the hot pot smell on you afterwards. No more, but alas the passage of time. Chubby Mart has this futuristic market theme and set up to it. We came here later in the evening and there was no line. We had to wait a little bit, but that's more for our table to be prepared than anything. You can sign up to be a Chubby Cattle empire member and can get discounted items. Just having the app gave each of us a free $2.99 price. Paying and signing up for membership, the payment to the membership goes to your check that day, which is good because it would have been $60+ for 2 people if that was the case. And you get a bday deal and points for all of their other restaurants in the Chubby group (which many I have been to, Mikiya, Yumiyaki, Chubby Cattle, Chubby Curry, Chubby Skewers, etc.). June, our server, was super friendly and informative, and went to check up on us whenever she can, but even if it wasn't a super busy night (trust it can get much worse based on a sign mapping out the wait time for 32 parties ahead of you...), the workers are working and moving all the time, but no worries, you can summon them through the tablet. You do have a little metal shopping cart you can push around, but it's not the most sturdy vehicle. There was a loose screw on ours when we were pushing it around... So the cart helps you to go "shop" through the Chubby Mart, you pick up your dishes or whatever food or drink items and place it in your cart and keep moving. Items range in cost if you're a member (discounts on certain items can be $1-3) and based on the size of the dish it's placed on. There's a sign with a size guide with the costs for members and non members. It wasn't too crowded when we went but navigating through the small number of customers with the cart was a bit difficult and especially with us lingering and contemplating what to get. I can't imagine what it's like on a completely fisted weekend and there's kids running everywhere, people making wide turns with the cart, and people just crowding and standing in front of dishes and deciding what to get or just making sense of everything. Yikes, but thank God we're not those people for our first visit. There's a meat section, you can watch them make baos, the sauce bar (it's automatically added in by the restaurant - so even for people who don't eat sauces...yeah) - lots of variety of seasonings, sauces and flavors (I love to load up on garlic, spicy cumin, and other various spices and sauces I haven't seen before at other hot pot), seafood section (20% fee if you have to get something freshly made) - with dishes you can just grab or sashimi, skewers, veggies and other hot pot items, grill items in the fridge area and you can even get freshly squeezed juices or some desserts. Since my friend and I wanted to really enjoy the broths that we got, we felt that it was a better idea to focus on the hot pot (since if we wanted AYCE BBQ we can just go to Chubby Cattle and if we wanted skewers, we can just go to Chubby Skewer - all super close by). For our soup broths, we got the Hainan Fermented Rice Vinegar broth and their Mushroom Broth base. Something new and something safe that we've tried before, can't go wrong. The Hainan broth had a slight spiciness to it but tasted like a watered down lemon broth with a subtle vinegar taste and the taste of the mushroom broth was very light and watery too. The mushrooms boiled in the mushroom broth was good at least. Even after letting the broths cook for awhile, the flavor wasn't that strong, so you definitely do need the sauce bar. I've had their mushroom soup broth at the prior business here and the flavor was richer in flavor. A bit disappointing, especially with the price point to be honest. We got the lettuce as our veggies and we for our meat we got the Margra Lamb which, even on the small tray, was stacked with meat slices and the Angus top blade. I'm usually a big fan of lamb, but the top blade tasted much better and had more flavor. The lamb was weak and light for a meat and didn't take up the soup broth that well. Didn't have any of that rich, kinda of gamey flavor that most lamb cuts have. We tried to use the grill to at least try it but it immediately stuck on it and shrunk our meat and after that we just stuck to the hot pot. Since there's so many other Chubby empire restaurants, especially since they focus and hone in on what they specialize at, I think I'd prefer to go there over Chubby Mart, BUT I'd go here for people who come out of town or who have never been before to just experience the novelty of it all. read more

Great place and concept. Can get a little pricey but it's all up front and most things tasted great! Our server was friendly and attentive. She is bilingual (Mandarin and English). If you don't have reservations for a Saturday, try going around 2 pm after their initial rush is over. As we were leaving around 2, it was a little slower. As you enter, the hostess gives you a quick tour and makes it very clear that this is not all you can eat. Rather, like a market (this the name "mart"), every item including broth, drinks, condiment bar etc is at a certain price. Also, this is not timed dining like Chubby Cattle so you don't have to feel rushed, which is nice. If you have the Chubby Club Plus membership, each item is discounted and it varies per item. Before you decide on what to order, I highly recommend that you do a walk around to see what's available to you. This way you don't order or grab too much or fill up on the same things. The only items that you won't cook yourself will be from the fresh seafood (ie lobster, clams, etc) from the seafood area, baos and skewers. They do have some other seafood items like crab claws, clams and conch that are pre-packed (but not fresh in water tanks) that you can grab and cook yourself. The sashimi options were ok, kind of "mid" in quality and taste. When we got our lobster, it was missing a claw. This was disappointing despite confirming this with the guy at the fresh seafood station. And it was doubly disappointing that they didn't have dungeoness crab or live shrimp that day. As for the rest of the food for your hot pot and grill, you'll have a small cart at your table that you can push around to stack up all the Wagyu meats and vegetables for your hot pot and/or grill. The skewers, desserts, baos, and drinks are ordered from the kiosk at your table. There's also a pretty large sauce area with ponzu, oils, salt, pepper, garlic, etc that you can customize. As soon as you're seated, you'll be asked to choose two different soup bases which is an extra cost and there's a grill in the middle for your bbq. I wished the grill was a little bigger and has an oil drain outlet. If you order the steamed baos, there's a robot that will deliver it to you. They have private rooms that have a cost minimum. I believe the room and table for 6 has a $500 minimum and the larger room has a $800 minimum. All in all, for a party of 4, we ended up with a $400 tab (pre-tip). read more

Came here at 12pm on weekday for lunch and there was no wait. Got the lunch special for 69.99$ for two which was a great deal and we were full after. We got beef tongue, lobster, and top blade for our three protein dishes. The top blade was super yummy!! The beef tongue tasted a bit gamier than other beef tongues I've had. I like that there's grill and hotpot options together. The Wagyu fried rice was super delicious and came with our combo as well as a Wagyu style pancake. I think Chubby Mart has to be my favorite among other Chubby restaurants we have visited. The concept of it being a supermarket is great. The atmosphere was fun and lively. We came in for an early Sunday dinner, not sure how much the wait would be if we hadn't make a reservation. The restaurant itself is very spacious and organized with so many items to choose from. But it did get crowded when dining people were shopping around and waiting for sauce bar at times. We liked the lobster and mushroom broth we chose. The hot pot is huge with BBQ grill in the middle. We made a few trips with our cart for Wagyu meats, fresh lobsters, hot pot favorites and desserts. I am a seafood eater so this chubby restaurant is better than most AYCE ones for me. We really enjoyed the tenders meats, fresh Boston lobsters, skewers and BBQ meats. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will have to try more fresh seafood next time. Our hot pot meal was fantastic, our chubby club plus membership gave us discounts on many items. The service our waitress Lulu provided was great as well. Really fun concept, 10 minute wait for 4 people on a weekday evening. You walk around with your shopping cart, picking up meat, sashimi, hotpot ingredients, seafood, sauces. A al carte style literally! Hotpot, kbbq, skewers at the table. Got the lobster broth and beef bone broth (preferred this one). Best bites were the Wagyu skewer and Shiso leaf wagyu skewer. What an interesting eating experience. We got there a bit early at 3:45pm on Saturday and we were the second party in line for the 5pm opening, by the time it was 4:30pm, the line was around 13-15 parties deep. Once opened, we were given a tour/direction of the stations by our server, Aiden on how the restaurant operated, everything looked super fresh and the concept was cool. Besides the items you can grab yourself, there's also a tablet at the table where other things can be ordered, some item did take a long time to arrive though. You take the cart which has your table number on it, grab what you want, when the server clears off your table or cart, he/she will add it to your bill. They had a sashimi station which I thought was a little odd, but very much welcomed as it was a good way to check for freshness of their products, the uni was very fresh indeed so I would assume the sashimi isn't far off in quality as well. The veggies and various items are pretty much your usual hotpot/Shabu ordeal. The beef area is kinda like going up to the butcher at a store, they have various cuts and kinds of beef. The confusion for me is not knowing what is what, there are a lot of signs but not many are aligned with the beef that is displayed, so I'm just blindly getting beef based on the amount of marbling I like. The older guy behind the counter didn't seem to know English well and Mandarin is not my language, but I liked what I got...I wonder if I actually had the Australian wagyu or the regular wagyu LOL. The coolest thing with this Chubby place is that they have LIVE seafood that they will cook for you! I didn't want to overdo it so I only got two lobsters this time. They were small at just over 1 pound each, but they were sweet and delicious. It was a little bit sad watching them get "selected" specifically for me. Next time I will get them steamed. I wanted razor clams, but I didn't see any in the tank on this visit. At the end of the meal, Aiden, the server worked extra hard at selling us the 12 month membership. It was like getting pressured at a car dealership! But he was very nice and for us, the membership sells itself since we live or work near a new Chubby Cattle and 2 Wagyu Factories where the membership savings would work at as we were planning to try them anyway. With the amount we ordered, The membership pretty much paid for itself just in this visit. Just remember that this membership is only good for 2 people, so if you dine at their AYCE restaurants, the other people in your party pays a higher price. Quite an experience! They start you off with a brief tour of the facility and then escort you to your table. We were greeted by Lulu J. Who was very friendly and helpful. You order your broth, boa's, and skewers on a touchscreen monitor. And the rest you take your cart and begin your journey to freshness! They have a selection Wagyu, veggies, live seafood and dessert! Their sauce bar is amazing! It's loud in there but huge! Good for groups. It is not AYCE so you can take whatever you do not finish - to go. Next time we will try the live seafood. We came later in the night so wasn't that hungry. But food is fresh and delish! Membership prices are worth it! We will be back. read more
