One down side is that they make you get two flavors of soup, instead of just getting one side. It felt like a waste for both of us because we barely had the hot pot portion. Came to try their all you can eat and was super impressed. You can use the chubby membership to get the $45 dinner pricing and free soup for hot pot (which is normally $5 a person w/o membership). They have a wide variety of food so it can get overwhelming. There's sushi, sashimi, fried foods, hot foods, yakitori skewers, hot pot, and bbq as well as an open drink fridge so come hungry. My beautiful lady and I had dinner at Chubby Mart for the first time tonight, and we must say it was a lovely experience. We've done Chubby Cattle and enjoyed the concept; we heard great things about Chubby Mart's super market style concept and wanted to give it a try. It's now AYCE with a decent number of options. We arrived close to 6PM on a Thursday night and had about a 30 minutes wait before we were seated. If you are a Chubby Club Plus member, you get the hotpot add on and 2 broth choices for free. We chose the tomato and lobster broths. The tomato broth was exactly what you would expect and was a great option. We didn't enjoy the lobster broth too much and felt that it was underwhelming and quite bland. We enjoyed the multiple cuts of waygu and meats available in the front station, the Peking duck and live crab area, the BBQ section, and the many options of teas and fizzy drinks in the self help drinks fridge. The sliced meats and BBQ station had about 20ish different thinly sliced pieces on plastic wrapped trays; they were decently marbled, and were quite tender. We mostly enjoyed the waygu neck slices. The Peking duck was decent; it is freshly cut into 2 pieces dishes and wrapped in front of you. You will also find chilled blue and stone crab halves, live claims and mussels, and cooked cod in this area that were delectable. I thought the stone crab was excellent and far easier to eat than I was expecting. The live clams had a nice taste but the edible part easy come apart from their shells and will end up lost in the abyss at the bottom of either side of the pot. The drinks section was pretty good, and was full or pre filled cups. We didn't find straws for these cups that would make drinking from these cups easier, but maybe it was just us who had an issue with that. They also had bottled branded teas, Chi sparkling drinks, strawberry/melon/banana flavored milk boxes, and Coke and Sprite cans. We enjoyed the milk teas, the pear flavored bottled tea, the melon and banana milk, and oolong black teas. The tofu, shrimp paste, veggie, and noodles section reminds me of a malatang place in how things are laid out and had a decent number of options. The shrimp paste balls were by far the best thing you will find here. You will also find some quality eggs, ramen, and glass noodles here. The baked items section next to the Peking ducks station had some decent options like baked mussels, grilled waygu slices, and what appeared to be thinly sliced waygu prearrange dishes. I didn't try the baked mussels, but everything else was good. The skewers section next to this area was ok at best. I tried the pork belly and didn't think it was something I would choose again as it tastes a bit over seasoned and was quite stiff. The dessert bar was quite limited, but I enjoyed the macaroons the most, while my lovely lady enjoyed a chocolate mousse slice. She only ate half of an egg tart, which is usually a sign that it's not the best. I think they could significantly improve this section with some ice cream options. You will also find a small section with things like burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, and like items next to the dessert bar. We didn't try these options, but might be good if you have kids with you. The seafood section next to the sushi area had multiple choices of shelled and peeled shrimps and prawns, baby octopus, and some choice fish slices. We mostly just had the peeled shrimp on this visit, but the options did all look appealing. I didn't try the sushi rolls and sashimi, but they also appeared quite fresh and you can see there was genuine grounded wasabi to the left of the station. My lady had some pieces of salmon sashimi, but focused more on the hot pot items. The service was outstanding with our servers clearing out dishes frequently. They started us off with ordering the broths, kept us informed when it was 15 minutes from final call and when we had about half an hour left before the allotted 90 minutes time limit would be over. We enjoyed the Chubby Mart experience, and didn't feel like we were going to explode like when we visited the Chubby Cattle in Irvine. At this point I feel like I've been to all of the Chubby group locations, but this has by far now been my favorite since Wagyu Factory! It's honestly so fun and unique, not to mention how good the quality is for everything. The pulleys are sadly not a feature due to safety reasons from what I heard, but I hope the next time I visit they're open again to use! The newest Chubby Mart restaurant just opened with their newest concept! I love the ambience and decoration around the restaurant. If you are a Chubby member, make sure to make a reservation prior so you can avoid the weight. We came on the weekend and saw people waiting out sit to get a table. I heard the wait time is about 30-60 mins. The staff greeted you and serve you fast. They were friendly to explain the process and check back with us often to clear our dirty plates. Originally we were told the VIP requires a $500 minimum order. The room can hold a good 8-10 people if you are coming in a large party. If not, they do offer tables for 4 or 6 people as their standard tables. But we lucked out bc we were Chubby members and were told they can squeeze us in without the $500 min. Sweet! So what I love about Chubby Mart is this concept is the 1st in teh US. Imagine being back in Asia and grabbing fresh meat, seafood, and veggies fresh (never frozen) and for hot pot and grilled bbq at the same time. They even have sashimi and grilled skewers too! Everything here is a la cart. It's not AYCE Prices are on a bit higher side but better priced if you are a Chubby member! So just remember you pay for what you eat! My and my family were able to get a table really fast for a party 15. I would say this is due to the large amount of space available, letting others also host large amounts of people. They also have rooms incase you have less people and want more privacy. Not only that we had an amazing service, thanks to George, and he was able to guide us through the ordering process and what the membership does. As for the food you are able to order two soup bases (tomato and spicy meat in the photo). You are able to get your own food as they have an island in the middle of the restaurant in order to get a variety of free drinks (even without a membership). There is also an a lot of grilled meats, seafood, and hotpot sides, along with a sauce bar next to it. Overall, Chubby Mart offers a really solid all-you-can-eat experience. They have a great selection of meats and ingredients, and everything we tried tasted incredibly fresh and yummy. The setup is excellent for a split soup base. However, my biggest problem with the experience is the tight 90-minute time limit. Because this is hot pot and you have to cook all the food yourself at the table, 90 minutes goes by way too fast. It feels like there isn't enough time to actually sit back and socialize with friends and family. Instead, you're forced to just be quiet, cook, and eat the entire time to make the most of it. I feel like extending the time limit to 2hrs would be a big help. There are also a couple of minor logistical issues the restaurant could easily fix. First, the items in the fried food section were cold when we went to grab them. Second, the beverages in the fridge are never actually cold because customers are constantly taking them out too soon. The restaurant really needs to store a backup supply of beverages in a kitchen fridge to chill them properly before stocking them out on the floor for customers. (Review For Post AYCE Change) I wasn't lucky enough to experience Chubby Mart before the change to AYCE, but I can honestly say that this might be one of my favorite AYCE experiences. From a food perspective, the place held up 100% when it came to all the various sections having really tasty selections. Starting with the non-meats, the sushi rolls, Peking Duck, and skewers were my top favorites. When it came to meat, both the beef cuts and lamb were top notch. For drinks, I still can't believe that there's a self serve drink fridge that's open to all diners. The selection had various drinks, both local and non local, and various juices that they apparently make/mix onsite. From an eating perspective, this is probably where Chubby Mart stands out the most to me. I've been to other places where you can do Hot Pot or Grill Meat but this has probably been the most integrated experience I've been to yet. The grill is flanked by a split hotpot which leads to a natural situation where you can choose to cook your meat in the soup or on the grill. Something that I also did not know I needed but once experiencing, is something that I kind of wish all places did. The last important bit -- if you like spicy and a bit of sour, the Yunnan sichuan passionfruit soup base was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. The restaurant itself is pretty well ventilated for how much cooking is going on and it's pretty fun walking around the "mart" area as you see just how many different things Chubby Mart offers. The one small negative is that the amount of servers is on the low side which can lead to long waits to get a drink or get the bill. Not bad enough to deduct a star, but an interesting problem since unlike other places, you are getting up and grabbing things yourself so it really isn't a problem until the end of the meal. read more

Things have changed and Chubby Mart is now AYCE as of a little over a week go. There are pros and cons to this. Before, I could take my time but now, it's limited to 90 minutes of dining. But TBH, even if you don't do the upgrades, there's plenty of options and food. Now, you don't have to order skewers or fresh seafood like clams. If you want a lobster and 2 special cuts of wagyu beef, there's a $20 upcharge. If you want AYCE for everything, it's a bit more pricey. With that said, there's plenty of other "wagyu" meat and non wagyu options for hot pot and/or grilling from the regular menu that will satisfy your cravings. All drinks (they no longer have the fresh juice option) like coke, plum tea, sparkling lemon, bottled teas are now included but you can only drink them there...in other words, don't try to sneak extra bottles or cans of drinks to go, LOL. They have a new pear and fungus dessert and a few more other dessert options than before but they no longer have the mango sago dessert, crowd favorite. You can grab wagyu baos, along with wagyu sliders (like the ones at Chubby Cattle) and a couple new dim sum options like shiu mai with sticky rice (loh mai fan topping) and ha gow are available too. Also, now that it's AYCE, you can't take the left over broth from the hot pot or any food home. Leftovers will be weighed at $16.99 per pound. Lulu, our server was friendly but the most impressive part to my visit was my interaction with the manager, Betty. I had a particular issue during my last visit (that manager was not very helpful) and missing points. When I spoke with Betty, she was on it right away by contacting the corporate office and by the end of the day, it was resolved. We made reservations on a Monday night, but it was actually really empty there lol. Not busy at all, even during prime time. This place used to by X Pot, so it's located in the plaza with half and half, junbi, tesla supercharger, etc. I like how when you first enter, the staff takes you on a tour to go around on the options you get to explore. Wagyu station, skewers, live seafood, hot pot items, skewer items, drinks, and more. There's also a bao station and sashimi here too. Once you're seated, they start you off with the hot pot broths. Our server recommended that you order the skewers and bao first since they all take awhile. So we just went ahead and started with the skewers then took a look around to get our items. I wanted my parents to pick the items with them, but they seemed so overwhelmed with the options tbh lol. Also all the bigger texts were in English, so they didn't want to bother with the Chinese... I wanted them to get more engage with the shopping aspect (cause I thought it would be a fun idea together), but they simply just want the food to appear on the table lol. So I went ahead and grabbed the wagyu meats, ordered skewers, got the boston lobster, a bunch of a hot pot items and the bbq meats. First, the skewers were all pretty good! Very flavorful, especially the fatty parts. The wagyu meats were also really good, especially since we got the lean ones, they weren't too fatty. The live seafood was also pretty good, but the most expensive. The lobster was honestly pretty small. Two lobsters (steamed) were $52... The hot pot items were also solid, they charge a sauce bar fee as well. BBQ meats are on the saltier side, especially the beef tongue. A lot of it was all pretty salty. We also tried the unagi and it was salty. Overall, it's a fun experience and it's great its pretty controlled on what you wanna eat instead of AYCE. Very special restaurant. I have been to nearly all the Chubby Cattle and Wagyu Factory locations in Southern California. I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite. So, the bbq portion is actually pretty weak. But the hotpot and supporting dishes really shine. They go all-out with fire-grilled skewers of giant shrimp, lamb, wagyu beef, rib-finger meat. You can watch them grill them in action. These delicious skewers are unavailable at the other locations, at this time. They have wagyu baos (buns) and a meat pie that were incredible, and also not at the other locations. When I left, there was a cook preparing actual Peking duck, cutting the slices off the duck to be served with buns. The real deal. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it but I was blown away they offered Peking duck. They hot pot was actually pretty standard but nothing seriously worth complaining about. I loved that they had fresh shrimp balls and fresh meat balls, besides the usual frozen stuff. Some of the prepared dishes, like noodles, asparagus and stir-fried meat weren't great or even very relevant. They looked almost out of place. They also offer massive wagyu burgers that seem designed to fill you up. Pass! I'm sure the egg custard tards are fabulous, though. Weekend pricing is around $50 range per person, though that's based on memory. One noticeable change is that guests are no longer allowed to use the carts to move food around, likely to help manage the crowds and keep traffic flowing. The skewer selection wasn't quite as good as I remembered, but it was still decent. The offerings were fairly simple, including chicken, lamb, pork, and beef. The overall food selection is impressive, with a wide variety of options ranging from sushi to desserts, similar to Wagyu Factory (see photos for reference). They also serve Peking duck, which was one of the most popular stations. Personally, I thought it was overrated. The wraps tasted store-bought and were served cold, while the duck itself was a bit greasy. The experience wasn't helped by some of the guests, either. A few people were grabbing multiple plates at a time and seemed to have little regard for others waiting in line. It definitely felt like some people were only thinking about themselves rather than sharing the food fairly, leaving those behind them waiting for the next batch to come out. The soup was one of the highlights of the meal. Even though several options had already run out, what remained was flavorful and satisfying. The hot pot meat selection was more limited than expected, with only Australian Wagyu, Angus beef, pork belly, and lamb available during my visit. Despite visiting on a weekday, the restaurant was still very crowded. I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends. Expect long lines and potentially a lengthy wait during peak hours. One thing I appreciated was that there didn't appear to be a strict dining time limit, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at their own pace. From what I observed, very few people opted for the seafood upgrade. Overall, I think this place offers excellent value on weekdays and is well worth a visit. On weekends, however, the larger crowds and longer waits make it a less appealing experience. If you're planning to go, I'd strongly recommend visiting during the week to get the best value and avoid the worst of the crowds. read more

A place that offers BBQ, Hot Pot, and Skewers ALL IN ONE!! Crazy combination (yes) but after ordering, eating, and dining, I can say this place is fun and delicious! Chubby Mart is part of the "Chubby" food lineup - for those familiar it's of the same family as Chubby Cattle - so having a membership (crazy I know) to this restaurant gives you discounts. I know what you're thinking, not another membership, but it is on a yearly basis and you save just as much money as is the cost of the membership, so it's definitely worth if you come to this establishment 3 times. This restaurant offers a variety of foods from wagyu beef and short ribs to lamb and sushi. Be prepared though as each item is priced individually. EVERYTHING is a la carte!! This is a different concept with BBQ and Hot pot as most places are AYCE, but at least you can cost control if you like to moderate your food. Ordering your food is fun as you get to hold this metal cart and "shop" around for foods you want. This goes for all BBQ, hot pot, and seafood items - so load up if you want! Its almost like you're a kid in a huge mart lol Pricing per plate/item are listed on each respective storage area so just keep an eye out as it's easy to rack up a bill. The only things you order on the table tablet are the skewers, buns, and alcohol. The place also has a self serve sauce bar which is delicious! The hotpot broths are good with ample hot pot flavors and delicious depth. The skewers also came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm not a fan of lamb, but even the lamb wasn't gamey at all! Delicious - if you don't like lamb flavor obviously. The highlight was the barbeque and the seasoning for sure! The meet is marbled well and gets a good crispy char on it. Paired with the seasoning sauce that comes with the meat, it is a HUGE YUM! For pricing, my friend and I (with membership pricing) walked out paying ~$75 each including tip, but keep in mind we can eat a good amount. This includes 2 meat plates for BBQ; 2 meat plates and 2 veggie plates for hotpot; 2 plum juice; 1 pancake; and 8 total skewers. The staff is nice (we had June) and if it's your first time they will even give you a tour of the place! First off, I'm rounding up to 4, but this is not quite there for me. We arrived pretty early so we could get seated in the first round and we succeeded! After queuing outside to get a number, we were moved to queue inside where they gave us a little tour of the place and then seated at our table. With the exception of the hostess at the front before opening, staff was friendly and welcoming. The servers were super great. The tour walked us through the different food areas and then how we should place the different orders, and how the "shopping carts" work. FYI, skewers replaced on the screen at your table. We ordered the lobster and the passion fruit broth. The lobster is delish! I would love to see this broth roll out at other chubby locations. The passion fruit was good, but ended up too tart for us. Ingredients were all good, but the ordering of meats was a bit of a hassle and there were no prices when we were there. We skipped the live seafood and just grabbed a few plates of smaller items so we could try more things. When we returned to the able, our bao station stuff had already arrived; good stuff, but nothing special or different. We threw some stuff into the pot and headed to the sauce bar......where we promptly joined the queue. Can't say it moved quickly, but it moved. The skewer stuff spices and hot pot stuff are all together, which I think might have been a possible reason for the hold up. Overall, we left stuffed, without eating dessert, but the overall consensus was we'd probs not be back if there was a wait. First time trying this place and it was good for it being a la carte. You put yourself on their yelp eaitlist when you arrive and when it's your turn to get seated they give you a tour of the restaurant and explain when each section is. The interior is just like the name says, it's a mini mart. I love the the cart concept. Each section is divided into meat, seafood, veggies, grilling, sauce bar and desserts. Our waitress was nice and came often to check on us. If you have the chubby cattle membership you get all your plates at a discounted price and you are not charged for the sauce bar.. At the table you have a split pot to share and the grill is in the middle of the soup. We got the lobster soup and beef tallow soup. The beef tallow was apicy and the lobster was not.
