I came here on a Friday night, and my friend made a reservation for us five to dine in. Even though we were all there on time, they still made us wait for almost 30 minutes before our table was ready. They gave us a menu to look at, and the options for the all you can eat ranged from base to the more premium options. The premium options didn't really seem worth it, especially the $110+ version. I like a good peking duck, but for that much? Anyway, our group decided to get the base option. When we got seated, our server went over what broths to order on the monitor and told us we can get our food to cook and eat from the buffet bar area. The one thing that was confusing was that we were never given water cups/water, and our group was confused on whether there was actually no water served and we just had to settle on the refrigerated Chinese drinks they had. It was weird that the server didn't notice, and when I noticed the other tables actually had a water pitcher and water cups, that's when I asked the server. Funny thing was that they ran out of water pitchers, but they did offer water cups at least. The food selection was pretty large though, especially for the meats that were ready to cook and the hot pot vegetable and seafood part. My girlfriend remarked that the vegetables did not seem thoroughly cleaned though and some of the vegetables seemed to still have dirt on them. The meat quality looked fresh and relatively did taste good. The whole hot pot surrounding the grill part was interesting, but personally I'm not a big fan of the setup. The hot pot setup felt a little too narrow for my liking. The broth was good in flavor though, but also heavy in oil. The grill was pretty good though and grilled the meats perfectly. It did burn easily though after a couple times cooking meat on the grill though. There were also cooked sections of the buffet, which ranged from skewers, seafood, baos, fried stuff, and even egg tart. I also tried the wagyu burger, which was decent. The meat on the burger was good, but the bun may have been a bit too crispier than a normal bun. The skewer meat quality was ok as well, but there were some parts where the fat was inedible for my liking. The baos were good in my opinion. I thought the egg tart was just ok, a bit different from the usual Cantonese style I have had. It had a sweet tofu pudding like texture, which was interesting, while my girlfriend did not like it and couldn't even finish it. The time limit for the Chubby Mart aka buffet was limited to 90 minutes, and they are really STRICT on the time. My group was almost done grilling the last meats before a server came in and said we had to go. While he was right that the time was up, it felt like the food was going to be wasted and that I don't think it really would have hurt anyone to extend another 10 minutes just to finish up the remaining food. The food waste felt real for this part. Overall, the quality at Chubby Mart was decent for a buffet and I would assume the style of the place was to show off each parts of Chubby Mart. It missed the mark for me though, as the premium experience that Chubby Group advertises was not reflective at Chubby Mart. This felt like going to a slightly above average Vegas buffet with a strict time limit on dining. If you actually want a "premium" Chubby experience, go to Mikiya for shabu, or Chubby Cattle for the yakiniku, otherwise you are just overpaying for a timed buffet. Service was below part of what I experienced from the other Chubby places as well. I guess they really delivered on the "taking people back to China" vibes, although I have had better service at some Mainland China restaurants than here for the similar price point. Hmmm, just didn't work for two. I liked the idea of having both hotpot and bbq at the same time, hence why I came. When you walk in, it has a futuristic concept where you can choose your food like a shopping store using a tiny small cart. It was kinda fun, but the my partner was getting cheap because you see all the prices. That made it hard to buy things and a couple things were out of stock. One down side is that they make you get two flavors of soup, instead of just getting one side. It felt like a waste for both of us because we barely had the hot pot portion. Okay for a date if you aren't naturally frugal when you go shopping at a store. But even before they made it ayce, the yakiniku was def their weak spot. This time I get to try to their skewers and personally liked it quite a bit even though I didn't get excessive amount. They have a pretty good variety from hot food to sashimi and some hits and misses. Not gonna lie, you shouldn't be getting the fried stuff at an ayce but I got a lot of that (it was pretty good haha). Service was pretty good. My beautiful lady and I had dinner at Chubby Mart for the first time tonight, and we must say it was a lovely experience. We've done Chubby Cattle and enjoyed the concept; we heard great things about Chubby Mart's super market style concept and wanted to give it a try. It's now AYCE with a decent number of options. We arrived close to 6PM on a Thursday night and had about a 30 minutes wait before we were seated. If you are a Chubby Club Plus member, you get the hotpot add on and 2 broth choices for free. We chose the tomato and lobster broths. The tomato broth was exactly what you would expect and was a great option. We didn't enjoy the lobster broth too much and felt that it was underwhelming and quite bland. We enjoyed the multiple cuts of waygu and meats available in the front station, the Peking duck and live crab area, the BBQ section, and the many options of teas and fizzy drinks in the self help drinks fridge. The sliced meats and BBQ station had about 20ish different thinly sliced pieces on plastic wrapped trays; they were decently marbled, and were quite tender. We mostly enjoyed the waygu neck slices. The Peking duck was decent; it is freshly cut into 2 pieces dishes and wrapped in front of you. You will also find chilled blue and stone crab halves, live claims and mussels, and cooked cod in this area that were delectable. I thought the stone crab was excellent and far easier to eat than I was expecting. The live clams had a nice taste but the edible part easy come apart from their shells and will end up lost in the abyss at the bottom of either side of the pot. The drinks section was pretty good, and was full or pre filled cups. We didn't find straws for these cups that would make drinking from these cups easier, but maybe it was just us who had an issue with that. They also had bottled branded teas, Chi sparkling drinks, strawberry/melon/banana flavored milk boxes, and Coke and Sprite cans. We enjoyed the milk teas, the pear flavored bottled tea, the melon and banana milk, and oolong black teas. The tofu, shrimp paste, veggie, and noodles section reminds me of a malatang place in how things are laid out and had a decent number of options. The shrimp paste balls were by far the best thing you will find here. You will also find some quality eggs, ramen, and glass noodles here. The baked items section next to the Peking ducks station had some decent options like baked mussels, grilled waygu slices, and what appeared to be thinly sliced waygu prearrange dishes. I didn't try the baked mussels, but everything else was good. The skewers section next to this area was ok at best. I tried the pork belly and didn't think it was something I would choose again as it tastes a bit over seasoned and was quite stiff. The dessert bar was quite limited, but I enjoyed the macaroons the most, while my lovely lady enjoyed a chocolate mousse slice. She only ate half of an egg tart, which is usually a sign that it's not the best. I think they could significantly improve this section with some ice cream options. You will also find a small section with things like burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, and like items next to the dessert bar. We didn't try these options, but might be good if you have kids with you. The seafood section next to the sushi area had multiple choices of shelled and peeled shrimps and prawns, baby octopus, and some choice fish slices. We mostly just had the peeled shrimp on this visit, but the options did all look appealing. I didn't try the sushi rolls and sashimi, but they also appeared quite fresh and you can see there was genuine grounded wasabi to the left of the station. My lady had some pieces of salmon sashimi, but focused more on the hot pot items. The service was outstanding with our servers clearing out dishes frequently. They started us off with ordering the broths, kept us informed when it was 15 minutes from final call and when we had about half an hour left before the allotted 90 minutes time limit would be over. We enjoyed the Chubby Mart experience, and didn't feel like we were going to explode like when we visited the Chubby Cattle in Irvine. The pricing isn't bad at roughly $50 a person for the visit, and we think it was well worth it. Highly recommended. read more

My friend and I signed up for the Chubby Membership because it was advertised as including $360 worth of complimentary vouchers. One of those benefits was a $20 Chubby Mart voucher, which was a major factor in our decision to join. We visited for the lunch special and each paid an additional $20 for the premium upgrade. However, when it came time to redeem our vouchers, we were told that only one $20 voucher could be applied because our meals were combined on a single bill, even though we each had our own membership and our own voucher. That felt very misleading and disappointing, especially since the vouchers were heavily promoted as a membership benefit. Beyond that, the food itself was fairly average. The meat available from the market section was so frozen that it was difficult to separate and serve. Fortunately, we paid extra for the upgrade, which gave us access to fresher meat and made the meal more enjoyable. If you are a Chubby member, make sure to make a reservation prior so you can avoid the weight. We came on the weekend and saw people waiting out sit to get a table. I heard the wait time is about 30-60 mins. The staff greeted you and serve you fast. They were friendly to explain the process and check back with us often to clear our dirty plates. Originally we were told the VIP requires a $500 minimum order. The room can hold a good 8-10 people if you are coming in a large party. If not, they do offer tables for 4 or 6 people as their standard tables. But we lucked out bc we were Chubby members and were told they can squeeze us in without the $500 min. Sweet! So what I love about Chubby Mart is this concept is the 1st in teh US. Imagine being back in Asia and grabbing fresh meat, seafood, and veggies fresh (never frozen) and for hot pot and grilled bbq at the same time. They even have sashimi and grilled skewers too! Everything here is a la cart. It's not AYCE Prices are on a bit higher side but better priced if you are a Chubby member! So just remember you pay for what you eat! You only pay per lb on fresh sea food like crab, lobsters, grouper, rubot, razor clam, geoduck and crab fairy! At this point I feel like I've been to all of the Chubby group locations, but this has by far now been my favorite since Wagyu Factory! I love the aesthetic they try to do differently for each location, and this one really does feel more like a market experience, where you go around "shops" getting meat to grill, drinks from fridges, baos from stands, and more. It's honestly so fun and unique, not to mention how good the quality is for everything. The pulleys are sadly not a feature due to safety reasons from what I heard, but I hope the next time I visit they're open again to use! The regular tier is about $60 and provides similar options as any other standard korean bbq, extremely limited wagyu options and the quality was sub par. Additionally, the skewers were rarely filled so guests would have to go with the cheaper options. The peking duck was only served once per hour and if you didn't line up early enough during that hour, you were out of luck! I also like the fact that you can have hotpot and grill in one. The service is alway welcoming and friendly. Brain was our server and the manager was Esra. They ensured we got the best deal even with my membership. Brain was consistent with asking if we needed anything and Esra ensured we didn't forget to get everything with the bundle deal. Always an experience coming to the Chubby Group chain because they have a standard for customer service. I saw this pop up on my TikTok and I feel like this was such a cool concept as they have everything! Hotpot, korean BBQ, and skewers all in one place AND you get to shop for your food? Amazing! However, I didn't realize how overwhelming it can be once I got there. In addition, it is not all you can eat so it can get super pricy if you are planning on coming on an empty stomach. When my partner and I arrived, the hostess was very welcoming and while I appreciated the thorough instructions, it was definitely super chaotic while she was speaking through a mic, fastly walking through all the different stations, all the while blasting music in the background. After being seated and given all the information, we realized that it was all a bit gimmicky as we really only used the hotpot part. But don't get me wrong, the food and the quality of the meats and vegetables were incredibly good! They also have an extensive sauce bar which is not free of charge but so worth it! Overall, Chubby Mart offers a really solid all-you-can-eat experience. They have a great selection of meats and ingredients, and everything we tried tasted incredibly fresh and yummy. The setup is excellent for a split soup base. However, my biggest problem with the experience is the tight 90-minute time limit. Because this is hot pot and you have to cook all the food yourself at the table, 90 minutes goes by way too fast. It feels like there isn't enough time to actually sit back and socialize with friends and family. Instead, you're forced to just be quiet, cook, and eat the entire time to make the most of it. I feel like extending the time limit to 2hrs would be a big help. There are also a couple of minor logistical issues the restaurant could easily fix. First, the items in the fried food section were cold when we went to grab them. Second, the beverages in the fridge are never actually cold because customers are constantly taking them out too soon. The restaurant really needs to store a backup supply of beverages in a kitchen fridge to chill them properly before stocking them out on the floor for customers. If you want fresh hot pot and don't mind a rushed meal, the food itself makes it worth a visit. Personally I won't be back due to the rushed experience. read more

(Review For Post AYCE Change) I wasn't lucky enough to experience Chubby Mart before the change to AYCE, but I can honestly say that this might be one of my favorite AYCE experiences. From a food perspective, the place held up 100% when it came to all the various sections having really tasty selections. Starting with the non-meats, the sushi rolls, Peking Duck, and skewers were my top favorites. When it came to meat, both the beef cuts and lamb were top notch. For drinks, I still can't believe that there's a self serve drink fridge that's open to all diners. The selection had various drinks, both local and non local, and various juices that they apparently make/mix onsite. From an eating perspective, this is probably where Chubby Mart stands out the most to me. I've been to other places where you can do Hot Pot or Grill Meat but this has probably been the most integrated experience I've been to yet. The grill is flanked by a split hotpot which leads to a natural situation where you can choose to cook your meat in the soup or on the grill. Something that I also did not know I needed but once experiencing, is something that I kind of wish all places did. The last important bit -- if you like spicy and a bit of sour, the Yunnan sichuan passionfruit soup base was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. The restaurant itself is pretty well ventilated for how much cooking is going on and it's pretty fun walking around the "mart" area as you see just how many different things Chubby Mart offers. The one small negative is that the amount of servers is on the low side which can lead to long waits to get a drink or get the bill. Things have changed and Chubby Mart is now AYCE as of a little over a week go. There are pros and cons to this. Before, I could take my time but now, it's limited to 90 minutes of dining. But TBH, even if you don't do the upgrades, there's plenty of options and food. Now, you don't have to order skewers or fresh seafood like clams. If you want a lobster and 2 special cuts of wagyu beef, there's a $20 upcharge. If you want AYCE for everything, it's a bit more pricey. With that said, there's plenty of other "wagyu" meat and non wagyu options for hot pot and/or grilling from the regular menu that will satisfy your cravings. All drinks (they no longer have the fresh juice option) like coke, plum tea, sparkling lemon, bottled teas are now included but you can only drink them there...in other words, don't try to sneak extra bottles or cans of drinks to go, LOL. They have a new pear and fungus dessert and a few more other dessert options than before but they no longer have the mango sago dessert, crowd favorite. You can grab wagyu baos, along with wagyu sliders (like the ones at Chubby Cattle) and a couple new dim sum options like shiu mai with sticky rice (loh mai fan topping) and ha gow are available too. Also, now that it's AYCE, you can't take the left over broth from the hot pot or any food home. Leftovers will be weighed at $16.99 per pound. Lulu, our server was friendly but the most impressive part to my visit was my interaction with the manager, Betty. I had a particular issue during my last visit (that manager was not very helpful) and missing points. When I spoke with Betty, she was on it right away by contacting the corporate office and by the end of the day, it was resolved. We celebrated our friend's birthday yesterday at Chubby Mart. It was our first time there. It wasn't the hottest day, but the AC inside wasn't cold enough, and it felt like warm air was blowing. The server and customers were struggling because it was hot and uncomfortable. Our wait time was an hour, but it went by quickly. The front desk wasn't well organized; she disappeared for 15 minutes to check if the table was ready for another party. Overall, the food was good, and it was easy to navigate the section. The food was slow coming out for premium meat when you ordered via the iPad at the table. We would love to try again when the weather gets cooler. read more

Chubby Mart has done an amazing job transforming from an à la carte concept to an AYCE experience with a large variety of options. I really like the selection of skewers, live seafood, premium Wagyu station, fresh sashimi and sushi was outstanding, with something for everyone to enjoy. The quality and freshness of the food exceeded our expectations, especially the seafood and Wagyu offerings. It does get kinda busy on the weekend so be prepared to get in the waitlist or make a resy ahead of time. Went here for lunch today after seeing a couple videos about this spot. I have been to other Chubby Group locations and this one was definitely a let down. We got the regular lunch AYCE and it was not worth it. Service was just okay, after the front people sat us down, she didn't really explain or say anything at all to us. We didn't even know who our server was until half way through until we asked for napkins for the table. Food was average. Nothing really stood out. There was no sashimi for lunch and I feel like it should be advertised or mentioned at the beginning. The skewer stations was mostly empty. They only refilled it pork belly and chicken. I went up multiple times to check. We didn't even try the desserts. Other than the match cake, it looked like the desserts at a cheaper buffet but just presented nicely. Maybe we needed to get the upgrade for $20 to get better food? Idk, but for $40/person I honestly do not think we got our money's worth.
