Being a Chubby Club member we already have trust in the quality of their food and service. We don't have a skewer concept near where we live so we were excited to try it on our Vegas trip. There is no reservation option but we didn't have to wait too long when we showed up. As a Chubby Club member each skewer is only $1 each and you can go to the refrigerators to grab different types of skewers ranging from wagyu beef, pork belly, seafood, chicken, veggies, etc. My fav is the chicken skin bc it cooks really fast. The low tables make you feel like you're sitting at a street stall in China. We got to grill our own meat and it was a fun experience for the whole family. Pro tip: Girls make sure you're not wearing short skirts here since the tables are extremely low and there is no where to put your purse and personal items. We get a discount for being member which was nice. Self service in cooking and picking food. They do have some items on the menu that will need the staff to bring it to the table. Interesting food concept! All you can eat skewers with a variety meats, seafood, and vegetables! Even the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant seems like what you would see on a local street in Asia! This restaurant is very much self serve. You get and pay for the initial coal, seasonings, and utensils but after that (other than when you order additional sides), you do everything yourself even retrieving your own skewers. The food consists of high quality meats/seafood and were of good value as it was just over $1.3+ per skewer. That being said it takes forever to cook especially if your table consists of a group and it is hard to get full given the small portions of the skewer. There is an automatic charge of $3.99 charcoal fee/table and $0.99 seasoning fee/person so make sure to season the meat. The skewers are priced around $1.50 each. I've been wanting to come this place for a long time! Joined the waitlist and we got in within 10 minutes! Everything is self-serve, including water, skewers, and extra seasonings. My husband loved the fried shrimp patties (3pcs). We also ordered the fried instant noodles which were BOMB and the fried rolls with condensed milk. Those were rich and so delicious, liked a fried donut! You can order everything from your phone which we loved and was so easy! Every meat we had was great (mostly beef). The pineapple skewer with sugar was great! They were very welcoming for first time guests and the girl explained everything so well! I'm actually kind of on the fence about this place, which is rare. I love KBBQ and JBBQ, so I was looking forward to trying a skewer style eatery. Overall, the experience was somewhat lacking. It took a long time to get any server's attention, and we weren't there on a particularly busy evening, but the fridges were always crowded and it made it difficult to regularly grab skewers. Also, the tables and chairs were very low to the ground. I was okay with this, but my partner, who has knee pain due to an injury a few years back, really struggled to even just sit and eat at these rather small tables and chairs. Also, for a meat place, the best thing I ate was the cucumber salad. I'm something of a cucumber salad super fan, so I mean it when I say this is one of the best cucumber salads ever. It was delicious. Everything else, on the other hand... It was just okay. Every single meat, regardless of what you grabbed, had a distinct, same-y flavor. It kind of tasted like fridge? At first, I thought it was just a meat that I got, but then I had several cuts of meat, chicken, and vegetables, and they all had the same strange flavor. Our first skewer experience, and it was great! I love the whole concept -- it's kind of like Korean BBQ where you grill your own meat, so you can control exactly how cooked you want everything. I also enjoyed being able to season the meat yourself. You can add as much or as little seasoning as you want. I recommend getting the tomatoes, mushrooms, squid, scallops, and fish cakes. Maybe it's the charcoal they use, but when you grill the tomatoes, they burst with juice and sweetness. They pair really well with the meat. The squid was the best -- sweet, crunchy, and not chewy at all. The fish cakes also become nice and crispy when grilled. Everything paired really well with the meat skewers and added different textures and flavors. Everything is good when you dip it with sesame oil! Overall, it was a great experience. It can get pretty expensive if you eat a lot, though. They also charge extra for salt and soy sauce, lol. But still, a great first experience! read more

This was such a great experience!!! If you are a really big group, expect to have some trouble waiting to get seated right away because most of the tables are meant for tables of 2-4 people. There's maybe only a few tables that can accommodate for more and the amount of tables inside the restaurant isn't that much. To go to the bathroom, it's in the small space in the back behind the curtains. On the bright side, we were expecting to wait here for at least an hour based on the waitlist estimation, but we were able to be seated after 15 minutes!!! For every skewer you pick out, it costs about $1.33 each but we had the Chubby membership that let us get it for a $1 each!!! The staff helped explain where to put our trays on the table and how to grill each skewer. The seasonings are extra but are included if you are a member as well. I'm addicted. Recently came back from NYC and in Flushing and Manhattan china town they have Chinese skewer carts that are open super late. I stopped by one by chance and I was blown away. Cumin with spicy seasoning over a charcoal cooked meat skewer. So simple but so good. But when I get back to Vegas I was craving this delicacy pretty hard and the only way I knew how to recreate it was at home. That is until learning about Chubby Skewers. Chubby Skewer is exactly like the cart in NYC. You have to pay a fee for the charcoal and the seasoning and then after that it is $1.30 per skewer of your choosing. The charcoal is very important as it imparts that special Chinese charcoal flavor on the meat. Hard to replicate at home. I am partial to the wagyu and lamb skewers. The lamb is so juicy and the wagyu has a solid beef flavor. We're typically putting away 15 skewers per person so cost wise it's pretty reasonable for what you get. Two things to note. The water cups here are super small. You will take one sip and there goes all the water, and you're off to filling your cup again with water. Second thing to note is that the seats are close to the floor and very uncomfortable. So if you have a bad hip or knee this spot might not be the best for you. But I can't stop coming here. The tables were kind of low and it really reminded me of eating at stalls/on the street in Asia so, pretty cute experience! The charcoal in the grill was a bit uneven and small, which made it difficult for our group of 4 to all grill our food at the same time and we had to take turns. I've seen this place get fairly packed and busy so there may possibly be a wait. Fortunately we didn't have to wait because we were just 2 so it was pretty easy to get seated. The seating may be small and not as spacious but that's kind of what makes it fun. There's really no price, but like with some AYCE sushi places, you get charged at the end based on the amount of skewers you get. So when choosing your food, note that they'll have different amounts of skewers in it. One thing about Vegas is everyone shows up for a grand opening like it's a prize fight. Being "first" seems to be some sort of bragging right in Vegas. Chubby Skewers has become a great spot for my wife and me to grab drinks, talk life, and grill skewers. I own a yakitori grill at home, but this saves me the prep and the cleanup. Fair warning though: parking is a nightmare. Pro tip: Sign up for the Chubby Club membership. It works across Chubby and affiliate restaurants, and it's a no brainer. Membership means reduced prices and perks where skewers are $1 and the spices and charcoal are complimentary. Our go-to skewers are the chicken cartilage and anything Wagyu beef. We also always order the cucumber salad loaded with garlic and the tofu noodles. Then we commit a small act of culinary genius and combine them. You can thank me later! Went here with some family the day before Thanksgiving for a 9pm bite, and was definitely not disappointed with the food and atmosphere! After parking, we put our name on the Yelp waitlist and waited only about 15 min prior to getting seated! Our server thanked us for waiting as he admitted they were a bit short staffed that night, but most were self serve or order on your phone, which made it easy! Although it did get quite crowded in that area, I enjoyed looking at all the options and selecting the sticks. Each stick was $1.30, with some premium skewers having two sticks. Some of the meats are a bit on the smaller side (like eel), but I think the portions are great for trying a couple different meats. The cold dishes that you can order separately on your phone by scanning the QR code on your table was great- we just did edamame because we mostly wanted the skewers. We ordered a bottle of Soju as well as a pitcher (and a 2nd pitcher because the 2nd was half off). With 5 of us, we finished the drinks & had about 75 skewers by the end. I think this type of restaurant is still very unique for a lot of tourists who aren't familiar with Chinese style skewers. Also unique to many American cities that don't have a major Asian population. Really enjoyed coming here, and being able to bring my small kids to enjoy the experience. We walked into Chubby Skewers late Monday and it wasn't busy, which was nice since I know it gets packed on weekends with a line out the door. The food was really good and I love the whole concept. The service was great too, very friendly and quick. I like the idea that we are able to walk up to the fridges to help ourself to our meat. The only thing I didn't love was how low the tables are. My boyfriend couldn't even get his knees under the table, so we had to sit kind of far back and angle our legs just to fit. It made eating a little awkward, but honestly the food made up for it.
