Came for the first time and was very happy with every aspect of the experience. Great food, cooked hot to order. Definitely feel like the rating on here is inaccurate. Google has it at 4.3 stars with over 1.4k reviews which is definitely more accurate then here. Either way, Chubby's gets a solid 5 stars from me and will be coming back! read more

It was time for breakfast and the big signs advertising Chubbys all over town beckoned to me. I had to give it a go. This location is right off I-20 at Cockrell Hill sandwiched between Dallas and Duncanville. Very convenient if you live on the south side! The outside is kinda cute with little benches on the outside to hang out. The inside is nice, too, kinda Dennys style but nicer. I loved the front wall of Chubby's own house brand jellies, preserves, pickles and yummy looking condiments like hot red pepper jelly. Nice! There is also a fridge case loaded with mini-ice box pies which looked wonderful. Breakfasts are standards like pancakes, omelets, migas and all that. I did notice the "stuffed french toast", though. Ok, get this. 2 big ole thick slices of bread stuffed with cream cheese then all french toasty on the outside. OMG, delish! That alone was worth the drive! And can you say Banana Nut Pancakes? Chubbys has "home cookin" style lunches and dinners with kind of a greek leaning thrown in. Their house specialty salad is a greek salad and you can even add gyro meat. It's a great option if you are looking to stray away from Waffle House ihop and Denny's type restaurants. I had the chubby's pancake plate or something like that I can't remember but it came with 2 pancakes 2 eggs and bacon all for about 7.29 which is a pretty good deal since the portions are large. The pancakes were cooked to my liking light n fluffy but slightly thick my eggs needed work but they weren't the worst but the bacon was theeee best. They were large thin cut slices cooked crispy but not burned I loved it. They also used a syrup I've never tasted but it was quite delicious. Very disappointed As a long time patron of this restaurant, my husband and I were excited to support after the quarantine. The first week we went, they had every other table blocked off to ensure proper social distancing of 6 feet per the state and county guidelines. Today was another story. They sat people in every booth, which are not 6 feet apart. The way the tables are set up people are in very close proximity of one another, not to mention not everyone wears a mask, Very dangerous in that we have had a spike in Covid19 cases in Dallas co. I called and spoke to the manager to express my concern. His response was that The governor approved 75% capacity. They do NOT require patrons to wear masks. I advised him based on this response my husband and I would not be back until we felt comfortable. There seemed to be no concern on the part of the manager. I looked up the required Social distancing for tables for Texas. It clearly reads 6 feet Based on this I plan to make a formal complaint of non-compliance against the restaurant. read more

The food was ok... however a lady with a service dog was there, she put her plate down and allowed her dog to lick the plate clean. I and other customers addressed this to the restaurant people and they didn't approach the lady to say she can't do that. Instead they just said we will take care of it. I will NEVER eat here again because I'm sure that same lady may be a regular and will have her dog licking plates clean. I LOVE my dog but wouldn't dare a stranger having to eat behind my dog. I've passed this place at least a hundred times, never knowing what kind of restaurant it was. Well this particular Sunday, my sisters and I got together after church and had brunch here. There was quite a crowd when we arrived, but the host was pleasant and took our name and gave us about a twenty minutes wait estimate. Once we were seated, our waitress quickly took our order, and our food arrived fairly quickly considering the crowd.
