We have tried to give this place many chances by going over and over again at least a dozen times for our kids ,since they love Chuck E. Cheese, to fix their issues but it never happens. Literally 40% of their machines are always broken or down. If you're trying to have a great time with the kids I'd recommend going to the San Jose two-story Chuck E. Cheese being that All the machines work over there and it's much more cleaner. Half the time employees are just walking around talking with each other instead of actually attending to customers questions or complaints In Salinas. Do yourself a favor and take the kids to the free kids park instead of wasting your money here. read more

Hands down THE best CEC in the area. The play area and games area is HUGE. Been to 3 parties here and I like it waaaaay better than the closest one to us (see review for CEC in San Bruno). I do have to agree that the last time we were here that a number of the games were down. SUCK! Too bad it's a bit farther for us. My recommendation is to come when they first open. No crowds. I love this place. THis is the only place now that malibu is gone to really have kid type fun around this town. CHuck e cheese doesn't let down. They need to fix some of the games more often but hell its the only place for video games around here. I tried the pizza, not a big fan. Salad bar ah its alright, the beer is pretty good tho. WHen the kids are like I wanna go to chuck e cheese I am like hell yeah cuz I wanna go toooo. All the video games are only a quarter too soo not baaaaad. I am all about the games but if you have a kid and your out of quarters you can have em play in the play area for free. Theres a great huge play area. MY SON AND I LOVE IT HERE! As far as food goes, of course you're gonna get jipped. That's how they make their money. I'd like you to show me any game place that actually offers quality food at a decent price (Boomers, Malibu, Scandia, etc). Everyone knows that you don't come here for the food!! If you have REALLY young kids, or if you're on a budget, don't spend anything. Admission and the play structures are freeeeeee. Let them pretend they're playing the video games. All games are cheap and cost only 1 token to play (that's equal to 1 quarter, for the slow people), and when you purchase $10 worth, you get extra tokens for free. Kids can also get free tokens by showing their report card. Score!!! There are plenty of games to play and tables to sit at, so you're not standing/waiting around like at other places. It's not overcrowded. The place itself is pretty big and somewhat separated by age group so big kids aren't ramming into small kids and it does not smell like feet when you walk in. I've never had a problem with the service or other parents at this location. Overall, it's just a generally clean and accomodating atmosphere. And I also like the kid-check entry/exit system so that some kidnapper cant just walk away with your kid. read more

Waited for more than an hour for food. Management does not know how to run multiple tasks at the same time. If there is several parties they will fill ALL orders for them before making your food. While you are starving the party people have more food they can eat. Ok I get parties make money and deserve better attention. This place is beyond bad. They are severely understaffed and what staff they do have are dysfunctional. Examples? Where do I begin? Here is a sampling: we had to ask five times to get a table cleared from the last party. They did not bother to help serve the kids or even make sure there were enough place settings. I have been coming to this place for about seven years with my son, he is now eight,and loves it. I love it too, It is an amazing, safe and fun place for a child. Few dollars and it's a blast. We have had two birthdays 5th and 8th, planning for his 9th. BDay also. Twice we we got the pizzas, drinks, veggie platters, sandwiches, etc. everyone has been happy and satisfied. Maria was our last host, she was amazing, hopefully she will be there again this December. Thank you all staff!! for making this a fun place for the little and not so little ones. Sucky Sleeze!! Man do I hate this Effing place! Yes, our kids have enjoyed themselves here, but they have fun at countless other places. Sucky Sleeze fills a certain niche. For instance, it is one of the only spots you can take kids on a cold evening when they need to release some energy. But this place could've done such a better job! As it is, the food SUCKS and is overpriced. The pizza is like re-warmed cardboard with cheap cheese and substandard toppings. (The crust is obviously pre-formed, cooked and packaged on some assembly line). They offer salads and other items to appease adults, but these are the worst of their kind. Whenever we visit (rarely now, thank Allah) I usually eat beforehand or carry in an energy bar. It's that bad. But most families don't come here for the food. It's for the videogames and activities offered. I must admit they offer a lot of things to keep smaller kids engaged. But the place is designed almost entirely for kids, not for families. There is little for adults to do except manage videogame tokens, monitor kid locations, keep track of game tickets, sit, or stare at anamatronic Sucky...er Chuck E (who sits frozen most of the time). If there were some decent rated-PG video games here for adults, I would be happier. But there is nary a one. Hell, I'd even settle for a classic game like Galaga or Asteroids. But no dice. I have attended two birthday parties here. I find them very depressing due to the impersonal cattle call atmosphere. Multiple parties are given the same time slot. Each birthday boy/girl each has their own assigned party table, and these are lined up like parts on an assembly line, each with the same food, same decoration, same cake, same hats, etc. Then at one point, a teenager in a Chucky suit comes out and greets all the tables together. He is joined by a group of sullen, bored teens (staff members) who do a half-hearted, shuffling dance routine to a loud, recorded, syrupy song. The kids don't seem to mind this tragicomedy. Meanwhile, at this point I'm usually pulling a MacGyver, trying to fashion a workable rope and noose for myself from used pizza plates. So I recommend avoiding Sucky Sleeze, but you may be sucky'd in anyway by forces beyond your control. If so, you might see me here. I'm the one who is tying pizza plates together. read more

Instead of playing any of the more fun games, they gravitate to the ones which pump out the most tickets so they can some gratuitous trinkets that they end up tossing an hour later. Where to start! This place has being going downhill for a while now. Especially the manager is rude. He is a male African American don't know his name he is rude to kids gets upset if you don't buy points at the counter and he is always on the phone. I also saw him cleaning his teeth in the registers sooo unprofessional. Most tickets machines don't work you have to wait in line to get tickets count. Coming here on a weekday is not too bad, but Saturday clearly overwhelms the place. Several machines were not working. And the one's working did not give any tickets. Bathrooms were horrible this time. Paper towels and trash everywhere. Kids have fun, but it's stressful for parents to keep explaining why something doesn't work again and again. I recently had my daughters birthday party at this location since the games are better ( wide selection and most of them work) and it's a little cleaner. We were supposed to check in at least 15 minutes prior to the party but got in exactly at the time of our reservation. The young thot with the braids and poetic justice nails at check in informed us that our host would be with us shortly. She then attempted to locate our host and told us that she was no where to be found, so she was just going to get our table ready. Wait what !? Get our table ready ?? It's not ready ? Ok ...it's 1230! Poetic justice then informed us that our table was ready and that our host was no where to be found and she would help us. She came back and tried to take our order which was odd seeing as the day prior, I got a call from someone at chuck e cheese to confirm the food being ordered. Finally we get a host who is helpful until it's times to cut the cake. We had an ice cream cake and she gave me a plastic knife to cut the cake. Ughhh, no. She then proceeded to say she could take the cake in the back to cut it. As she was coming out with the slices my sister noticed that she was bringing out the slices two pieces at a time !?! Wtf ? So my husband goes to The back to try to help her out and catches three workers hovered over the cake with spoons in their mouth !!! They froze as soon as they saw him ! How ghetto ! My husband asked if she could just bring out the entire cake and she did. When we got the cake 7 pieces were missing, but only 4 slices were served to our party. My daughter had fun running around with her friends, seeing chuck e, and the ticket blaster. But the service and the whole cake experience was just so unprofessional. Oh yeah. And this random stranger straight up walked up to our table and tried to get a piece of cake. He wasn't from our party ! Don't eat here. Just don't. You can come and play the games without having to buy any food products. This is, however, the best place on the Peninsula for skeeball. Tokens are cheap if you get the coupons online. Come, play skeeball, do some DDR, play some really intense shooting games and have a good time. The rides are for all ages and there is a lot of room to run around. A note to the old people without kids like me: I have never been given a hard time here. The bottom line is just don't be a jerk. If someone is half your height, let them go ahead of you in line. Stay our of the ball pit. And, of course, share your tickets. I had a skeeball tournament here for my 28th birthday and caused no problems.... be nice and the families won't mind you there. read more

We attended a party here for a 2 year old on Saturday. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING! The trash was overflowing, the toilets were not flushed and toilet paper was sprawled all over. Ick The staff was uninspired and grumpy. I was pleasantly surprised by the HUGE salad bar they had, I didn't get to try it but I'll keep that as a note to self as an alternative for their greasy cheese pizza. They seem to have so many rules, as one employee constantly told the host she needed to put away the plastic ware she'd brought that matched the party's theme. It's also quite odd to me that the cut the cake in some hidden location and you have to keep asking for them to bring out more slices...why don't they cut the cake at the table to avoid the back and forth drama?? What happened to this place? Granted, I haven't been there since I was a kid. My husband and I took our 2 year old son to this location the other day. We wanted him to run around in the play structure & jump in the ball pit (did they outlaw those or something?). When we got there we were greeted by a nice young guy. We got our hands stamped. We passed by the food counter, only because we weren't hungry at the moment. Then we started making our way through the arcade and it quickly dawned on us that this was not the Chuck E we grew up with. If you want an arcade, awesome. If you want your kid to blow off some actual energy and get his legs moving, this isn't the place. Well, I guess he could run from game to game. The jungle gym at this place has been depleted down to an almost single strand tube structure with one slide. WTH? I feel like the owners probably weren't making enough of a profit off of pizza so they demolished the activity structure and invested in some token coughmoneycough machines. The employees were really sweet and welcoming, though. After that disappointment we were determined to find our son a play structure worthy of his energy level. We ended up driving down El Camino to the McDonalds that has a play structure... I think it was in San Carlos? Belmont maybe? Our son (and a handful of other kids) had a blast running around in there. Its a little sad that McDonalds has a better play structure than Chuck E Cheese. Seriously, seriously sad. read more

I live in San Jose and usually go to the Chuck E Cheese off of Tully. This place (Redwood City) location doesn't compare. We came to this location simply because my son kept saying he wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese on the car ride home from Daly City. Since this place was on the way, we stopped by here. We didn't plan on eating here, but just having the kids play some of the games and and ride the little kiddy rides they had. Upside to this place is that it was not packed and parking was available. The Tully location is always packed and never can you find parking! Only if we're in the area and have time, we'd return. Otherwise, not one of my go to locations. read more

Cheese holds a place in my heart as a childhood restaurant. I love the creepy animatronic chuck e. I love the fact that there's 80's themed tv screens littered throughout the front. Went with my 3 yr old son on a sunday afternoon, and this place was packed. We had to wait to get our turns for any game. It was so crowded that kids and parents weren't leaving their stations for others at all, because they had waited long for their turn too. The worst part was the wait time for food. There were 3 birthday celebrations going on when we had ordered our food, and the kitchen got busy serving them. We were not told while ordering that it can take more than 45 mins to get food on the table. Food came after an hour, and our son had slept by then. Probably a good place during weekdays. read more

I have a 5-year old daughter who loves Chuck E Cheese, so we've been to a number of different locations, in different cities. I can say, without hesitation, that the one in Redwood City is by far the worst one I've ever encountered. On the games side, the facility is bigger than many others so it has a large number of games. But the games are poorly maintained, and usually at least a third of them are out of order. There are never enough ticket redemption machines that are actually working, resulting in long lines just to transform your "winnings" into a slip of paper that you can use to stand in yet another long line to buy some cheap crap. On the restaurant side, the place is a disgusting pig sty. They rarely bus the tables, so you'll find trash and half-eaten pizzas on dozens of tables long after the patrons have left. The "salad bar" looks like a breeding ground for salmonella. The restrooms are on par with what you'd find at a sports stadium bathroom at the end of a big game. The staff is incompetent and indifferent. I generally like Chuck E Cheese, but this particular location should be avoided at all costs. read more

The pay is terrible and they overwork you and expect too much. The food got better when they made the crust thinner, The games are usually down because there's not enough time to repair the problems to completion on a regular day. The A-Tech Manager cleans and makes minor to major repairs on games, while the Tech Manager does more technical work. Either way at this site there's too much work and not enough time to complete the larger tasks. People also forget that a lot of the customers damage the games on purpose too, not all of the customers but a lot. When people talk about hygiene, first they should look at the mess their kids and themselves leave in the stalls. If I got paid minimum wage and my boss told me to go clean the $hit out of the Skytubes, I would tell him/her no. When you take teenage kids, because an adult can't work here and live on their own, this is what you get. Somewhere around 50% of the games are refurbished at the CEC warehouse and sent to the other stores after that. So they are already being shipped with issues regardless of what has been reported on shipment. At that new games still have a lot of issues too, most parts are cheaply made and the best part of fixing the games is the Handy Man solution. All in all the people that work here try their best with what they are given. I bet you any amount of money people wouldn't complain about any CEC, if they had to work here for a month. read more

Just once or twice a day we let The Girls watch the Disney Junior channel (be it Octonauts or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), and while they are mostly commercial free, once in a great while they throw in a 'Chuck E Cheese is a proud sponsor of the Disney Channel' and them I'm stuck with The Girls saying 'Daddy I wanna go to Chuck E Cheese, puhhlleeeezzzz??' It's never a problem when The Wife is around because that would be an outrage to her nutritious sensibilities, but occasionally when the weather is bad and she is either traveling or doing some kind of Ladies Day, I'm stuck with the Sophie's Choice of Allowing My Girls to Have A Fun Time with The Games While Poisoning Them or Stay At Home And Listen To Them Ask For Another TV Show, and I cave in and prepare for the inevitable Stern Look From The Wife. So we go to Chuck E Cheese and I get the 40 tokens and pizza, if that is the proper word for the reconstituted wood and ersatz diary product they serve, and I take The Girls from ride to ride explaining how each of them doesn't work, but we can try this one if you want. Somehow the 40 tokens disappear and are replaced with almost 50 tickets that we bring to the shop for those fabulous prizes that only need $3.95, each, in addition to the 50 tickets. To be fair, the staff has always been nice to the Girls and I've never had to wait very long for the 'food' to show up at the table. I know it's me, but I can't help but let The Girls have a good time, and then explain to The Wife that she was gone and it's okay to graze with the herd, if only once in a while. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I don't even know where to start. Advice don't go after 6 o'clock pm because by that time all the games are out of order or out of tickets. Staff is very rood except for two very energetic teenagers that look excited about their job. I was playing a game with the little hard balls that you roll at a certain part to get points and these balls you have to throw them by hand. I was so focused in the game that I forgot about the people around me and then someone threw the ball at me it was very hard it left a bruise a day later. Then came the tickets there was only one ticket eater working and when we asked the staff to fix it she rolled her eyes and just fixed one. Let me tell you that there are 4 ticket eaters and one working and the staff only fixed one. I would not recommend it also teaches your kids how to gamble for example there is this fish game where there is a grand prize of 150 tickets. We found it quite dirty. I know it is because it is a combination of greasy food + kids... but still.. they could have a crew dedicated on cleaning more frequently: tables, chairs... Our table and seats were disgusting... There was food on the baby high chair... The belt on the high chair was broken... This place has everything to be fun and nice.. just a little more effort on the cleanliness will already help a lot. People: most people are nice.. but some are dumb... They leave their kids scream as hell, run, bumped into others... Luckily it is a minority, but still enough to be annoying. Otherwise it is a fun place for little kids. read more

This is a weird thing to review but I wanted other parents to be aware: their WiFi is TERRIBLE. My mom recently passed away, so I brought my 6 year old here to play while I took care of some emails and bought plane tickets to attend mom's funeral. The WiFi was so bad that not only could I not do my chores, but it took so long to load Gmail that it registered a click late and my entire inbox got moved to the trash. Now I have a massive extra chore on top of the life stress. It's really not that hard to have competent WiFi; if it's so terrible to be useless, just take it down and don't advertise that you have it. read more

We have been having birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese for the past several years. At the last minute, my husband and I decided to go there since it was close and convenient. Our kids and friends usually have fun playing the games, but the adults, including us parents, prefer to hang out somewhere else. The pizza is not too bad, especially if you get it hot out of the oven. After spending lots of money at this establishment, my daughter and her friends were picking out the prizes and had extra tickets from playing on-line. I have to admit the high school female worker was very patient and sweet when helping us; however, there was an issue with the extra tickets and the manager had to get involved. Wow, the female manager was so rude! She spoke to me in a condescending manner, telling me that she will not accept the extra tickets, and made my daughter's friends felt bad. At the end, they couldn't get another prize, which was disappointing, but it was how the manage handled the situation that ticked me off. Standing at the display counter, I could feel my face turn red and didn't want to make a scene in front of the kids. The manager had annoyed look on her face and walked away with a smirk. I told my husband that we will NEVER come back. Other reviewers mentioned that some of the workers didn't look happy working at Chuck E. Cheese. We attended a party there Sunday evening, and the place was unbelievably dirty. Turned over trashcans, filthy tables, litter on the floor everywhere, the bathrooms were outright disgusting. The employees and waiters were unfriendly and when we asked for a cheese or veggie pizza it took about an hour after the first promise. (1/2 hour after finishing the cake) and they brought an X-large instead of the ordered medium. The pizza tasted good, but gave me heartburn and stomach troubles.
