First time at Chuck's and we really enjoyed it! Burger was great- I eat mine plain, and it was juicy and cooked perfectly. Fries tasted like homemade, not at all greasy. WOW!!! Let me just start by saying I totally wasn't expecting much from reading all the reviews, BUT man am I glad I went. The service was amazing!! The food was some of the best I've ever eaten. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich. I've never been to an establishment that brings you EVERY hot sauce they have to try, and then mixes it the way you want. Laroo was our waitress and she did awesome. Momma came out to make sure we enjoyed everything and made us feel like we were part of the family. El Jefe (Chuck) made sure everything was cooked to perfection. He even added some karaoke in at one point. I will be back FOR SURE! My family and I tried Chucks for the first time today- I didn't even know it existed but I was wanting something quick and always prefer to support local- especially so these restaurants stick around as it's pretty slim pickin's in Bulverde as it is. We got takeout and really enjoyed it. Fresh huge burgers for the adults & yummy milkshakes and chicken tenders for the kiddos. It's really cute inside too! My omelet was very good and my daughter loved her French toast. I was disappointed they gave her the heal. They also don't serve hot chocolate, that is weird for a breakfast spot. Place looks like a nice local place to eat, the workers were friendly but that is about it. We did have a large group, so maybe that stirred up some dust in the back kitchen. Everyone that did come to eat there AFTER us seemed to be regulars as the workers greeted them all by their first names. Our table had their food in before all these regulars, and yet our food came out very last and over 45 minutes late. All these "regulars" got their food first. We asked about our kids' food, that still has not come out yet, and the waitress asked the kitchen staff and they said it was not on the ticket and the lady proceeded to put the order into the computer. My texas burger was not medium well. It was raw and cold in the center. I really wanted to like this place because I do enjoy a small local buisness but this place needs to get their shit and their attitudes together. I hate to review this restaurant but it is what it is. Second visit for us. Our first time eating here was so incredible. BUT,, today we visited for Mother's Day, my choice. First of all, went to their website to make sure it was opened on Sunday. Yes, from 11 am - 3pm. Never did I see the limited menu on Sunday. It was 1pm when arrived expecting lunch. All breakfast food on today's menu except for 4 items from lunch which I really made a forced decision. My husband ordered eggs, pancakes & hash browns. The sausage patties were burned up. I would have sent the sausage back. We told the waiter but did not discount anything for the burned meat. There were ZERO SALADS available No onion rings either. Very disappointed. If I knew they basically had a breakfast menu on Sunday, I would have cooked breakfast at home. Sorry folks. How hard is it to build a salad? This was our 4th time to eat at Chuck's and we will keep coming back. Each entree that I have had has been great. Burgers and sandwiches and this time the Southwest Chicken. But the standout of this last visit was Presley, our waitress. (hope I spelled her name correctly). This hard working waitress was handling all the tables and the place was two thirds full. She was at our table at least 8 times checking on us and our needs, there was 5 in our party . Not only was she waiting all tables she was even busing tables. The lady could hustle and she did. Four of us for lunch with only one other couple at a booth. FORTY MINUTES later we received our food before the couple that was sitting before we arrived. They delivered half to our table then theirs then the other half to us. Strange thing is that with this being a burger and fries place or bar food, you didn't smell any food cooking. I suspect that maybe it's cooked outback but I saw nothing going on in the kitchen and the food just appeared. Been here a few times, usually food is good, not great, but good. Service is always great, waitress is awesome. Went in today for lunch, asked for the Que (PA) So burger cooked well done, which means no red meat & no blood at all... My coworker asked for the exact same thing but with no tomatoes, well the burgers came out 'medium' and 'med-well' with red meat and blood. We let the waitress know and she told the cook. The cook came out and made a huge scene and stated that the burgers are cooked to the correct temperatures and proceeded to let us know how we ordered our burgers. He also told us the order was recorded and the burgers were made to order that he could go back and show us on the recording. I tried to show him my meat by picked up my meat from my burger I showed him the blood oozing from my meat. He reached down and picked up both of our plates and told us that we were not welcomed back. read more

I've given Chuck's bar and Grill several opportunities to make good, but man they shouldn't do takeout if they pack this poorly. We ordered a mushroom burger and a Buffalo Chicken salad $$$. The burger was packaged with bun separated by foil from the meat and mushrooms and cheese.... made it a little difficult to piece together but nevertheless it was really good. Now the Buffalo chicken salad is a different story. Why would anyone serve a cold salad in a foam container with foil separating fried chicken on top? My salad at $15 shouldn't look like spinach by the time I get home. And, please put your dressing on the side, I couldn't tell if I was eating cream spinach, coleslaw or "fresh" salad. Owners of Chuck's PLEASE, PLEASE make a Buffalo chicken salad when you're about to head home... dress it with half a bottle of ranch and place fryer hot chicken on top and let it sit for 10 minutes.... Open the box and see/taste what your customers see.... Not good and certainly not good at $15. keep hot food separate from cold. Instead of 4 large chicken tenders make 3 tenders and dice them placing in separate container, and add a little more lettuce, lettuce is cheap. Presentation is everything. I give the mushroom Swiss burger a for flavor and I give the buffalo chicken salad which gives me an average of . But I must give them props. I saw this place on Next Door and decided to try it out. I had seen it while driving by, but from the outside appearance I took it as more bar and less grill. Quite the opposite. This place has the ambience of a old highway diner. Its family owned and operated and the staff (family) are incredibly welcoming. At first glance, the menu might seem like a typical bar/grill type menu. But, it's what the menu doesn't say that is the real charm. The portions are big and everything looks and tastes homemade. My first visit we started off with the fried pickles and fried mushrooms. Mushrooms were large and plump and the pickles were thick sliced. Both appeared to be hand breaded (not frozen from Sam's Club). They were served with several in-house concocted variations of ranch, including cilantro ranch (side note: i really don't like cilantro, but this turned out to be my favorite of the dips). For my entree (not that I needed one because I was already stuffed), I opted for the Mushroom Swiss burger and added sautéed jalapeños. When I received my burger, I had to dig through the heap of toppings to find the 1/2 pound "flame kissed" (meaning slightly charred on the outside) juicy patty. After trying to stuff as much of the toppings onto patty and close the top bun on it, I took my first bite of juicy, flavorful, and slightly charred burger. Wow! My wife had the buffalo chicken sandwich which consisted of a large breaded and sauced chicken breast that overtook the bun. This was also very good (although chicken can never beat the taste of a good burger). On our subsequent visits, we also tried the tumbleweed (a heaping pile of thinly sliced and breaded onion rings) and the shakes. I haven't been disappointed yet, so I'm going to keep trying. I think we found our new family hangout. Next on my "to do list" is to try their "Specialties" and desserts. Although, to be honest, I'll probably have a last minute change of heart and go to the burgers. Here are a few "pro" tips. The burgers come medium well with a slight char on the outside. If you want it cooked differently, then tell them. The cowboy burger comes with a entire appetizer size (which is practically meal sized) order of tumbleweed on top of it. So, plan accordingly. Most of all, be kind to the staff, smile, and say thank you (by leaving a nice tip). read more
