My husband and I went this past weekend without a reservation. We were able to get a table, but it filled up pretty quickly while we were there and they have a sign that says reservations are required. We were seated quickly and had a very friendly waitress, who checked on us frequently during dinner. We sat in the main finding area, but they also had a bar section. I checked out the cocktail menu but decided I'm just ordering food we spit a pizza and it was plenty to share, and we had leftovers to take home. We got the El Paso Spicy and it was really unique and full of flavor. We both agreed we would order it again. Overall we had a pleasant experience. I would say prices are a little on the high side, with most cocktails around $14 or so. However, the food was solid and freshly made, but just something to be aware of. read more

Great food and service! We had t been to Verde since they had rebuilt after the unfortunate fire a couple of years ago. The interior is so improved but still has its welcoming charm. We ordered the lamb meatballs as an appetizers. So delicious! My husband ordered the fiery Gambas (shrimp) and I ordered the Verde street tacos. Both dishes were delicious and came out fast. The service was amazing. As is their wine and cocktail list. We were well taken care of and everyone made us feel welcome and special. We will definitely be back. And we found out they allow dogs on their outdoor patio. So we may take our little dog with us sometime as well. If you haven't tried Verde you really need to! read more

Great atmosphere. Small little spot in Bulverde. We've been there 2 times. Once before the fire and then again after they rebuilt. The bar makes great drinks. We love the smoked bourbon. Prices are a bit high. Fairly casual atmosphere even though they claim it as a fancier restaurant. We have only been seated in area by bar. Can get really warm in there since AC isn't great. Also that room can get loud because of all the glass windows. We almost had to yell because of a table of 6 that was super loud and it echoed in there. As a vegan other than a salad I get the pizza with veggies but no cheese. Wife has gotten a steak and she was underwhelmed. We only go once a year maybe. Servers are always nice. read more

The ambiance was good and service was as well. Drinks were good. Few issues why I gave them 3 stars: 1) the wine we chose was listed and explained as a Cabernet Franc. We mistakenly assumed it was when served but when we looked at the bottle it was a Cabernet Sauvignon. Totally different taste. 2) the manager was not on site so the server had to contact them to tell them the issue with the wine. We technically should have had some money taken off the bill because the Franc is more expensive online. 3) Brussels Sprouts were bland 4) the cheese on the sliders was hard. I think it was grilled separately because all of the sliders had it. Would be willing to try one more time but I was told by others who have been that after COVID the food is not as good. read more

I had a Appletinie, didn't taste like apple, I did care for, and my friend had another drink, and she didn't like it either. They also over charged me for my drink, they refund me the extra but they didn't take the extra from my taxes. Overall nice place if you want to have some appetizers. read more

The food was quite good but the service not so much. We were there and gave 2 hours time before our tickets for a movie. Plenty of time. Most of our food came within an hour but our two pizzas did not. While inquiring was told they were accidentally burned and being remade. Another 1/2 hour still no pizzas. Finally I told them we could not wait any longer as we had a 29 minute drive to movie theater. All of a sudden pizzas came out as we were leaving. Had to get them to go. Thought because if their error would have at least given a 10 % discount to show they were indeed sorry for their error. No actually lady was mad we asked them them to go. Again all of our food on time was good. Pizza is good cold but 2 hours is too long a period of time for tacos and pizza. Restaurant so close being a resident here at Kinder Ranch so we're so hopeful. This is a gem that is too well hidden off the main road limiting the drive-by exposure relying mostly on social media or word of mouth. The exterior is unassuming with a very nice interior. The staff was friendly with very good service. We had the cast iron steak, pear pizza, street tacos, and a shrimp dish. The food was all excellent. Good choices for wine and cocktails. It's been a while since I've been back to @verde_bistro. It's Dad's first time along with my brother and sister in love. It's the perfect fall weather to be outside. We had the outdoor patio all to ourselves. Happy hour is before 6pm and we made it. The Lavender Lemon Drop Martini for me and my brother's Brancott Blanc wine were both $2 off. The Hummus Plate was also on happy hour. My sister in love had the Berries Mezcal. We shared the Ahi Tuna Crisps, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Blistered Shishito Peppers and the Perfect Pear Pizza. We have leftovers! All the food was tasty! This is a quaint restaurant in the town of Bulverde. A bit north but worth the drive. Ozzy was a great server! Check it out! read more

Our favorite go to place for "great food" and customer service. Azi, our server each time we go there is attentive and always gives a warm greeting, including the rest of the staff and it's owners. This place can gets loud as far as "noise" level, but does not bother us. It's the acoustics in the room. Food and service is top notched. 0verall the food was good but here are my comments. Martin our waiter was courteous, well familiar with the menu, and had good recommendations. Patatas Bravas were soaked with the sauce which tasted like salty sriracha, not like any sauce I've had on patatas bravas before. The meatballs were large and tasty but the saltiness was a bit too much for my preference; maybe some bread on the side would have toned down the salty taste. The empanadas and chimmichurri were excellent, The website says that appointments are required but the phone was not answered until after 5pm. read more

We went to Verde for the first time after their fire. We had been regulars before the fire and ALWAYS had exceptional food. Last night was a disappointment. We went for my husbands birthday with friends. The ahi tuna crisps were amazing. We should have stopped there. Our aalmon was way overcooked and dried out. Our friends steak was way overcooked. Vegies were good. Drinks were ok, but you can tell that there is very little alcohol. So you are paying for the drink name, not the actual drink. It will be a while if we come back for dinner and drink. Definately come for appetizers and water. We also had feedback from our neighbor that they were disappointed with their food. read more

Owner needs to be on scene more and not leave managing the place to both Kristian and Eugene (the bar tender). drinks are sent back continuously while the kitchen staff needs to be quicker since they have such a limited menu --the reason for "reservations only" shows the food is cooked ahead of time hoping you sit and drink. employees are limited in voicing opinions with the threat of being let go while changing percentage of tips given to female servers so they can cover the bar losses. strange how their team picture on website doesn't have the same people working there now. the acoustics is very industrial and yes a lot of loud talking. Some of the best cocktails in Bulverde and perfect for a date night! My husband and I decided to go to Verde Bistro for our first date night after welcoming our baby and it didn't disappoint! We were starving when we got there and the food came out quickly and piping hot. I was worried that I'd still be hungry when we were done, but everything was filling and we were both satisfied. For drinks, I got the Mexican Martini then switched to the Cucumber Mint Martini after and loved both. My husband got the Smoked Old Fashion and then got the Flaming Lips. He's the type that thinks that nothing is really spicy, but the Flaming Lips knocked him on his a$$ lol so be careful with that one! For food, we started with the Argentinian Empanadas and the spicy pesto on the side was sooo good. I regret not saving the rest of it and using it on the other dishes we ordered, so do that or ask for more on the side! Next, we got the Local Grass-Fed Beef Sliders and these were very filling and larger than I thought they'd be. After that, we got the Verde Tacos and they were so good that I fought my husband for the last one (and won). Lastly, we got the Cheese Cake w/ Chocolate Sauce and that was the perfect cherry on top. Server was excellent, and very attentive. Unfortunately, that's about all that was great. After all the hype from other locals who were patrons before the fire, and after reading their menus on line we endured the haughty "reservations only" restriction and reserved a table for tonight. We were especially looking forward to great mixed drinks and to trying the paella which is "only served on Thursdays". First disappointment came when our waitress clarified that the paella was only served on "select Thursdays" and the one or two chefs that make it weren't working tonight. She advised us to follow them on Facebook to see if they were actually serving it in any given Thursday. Then, we read the menu description and ordered whiskey sours. This brought about the second and third disappointments of the evening. Not sure what they put in front of us, but the drinks didn't remotely resemble whiskey sours. I don't think they contained whiskey, were not sour, lacked the maraschino cherry, and instead of the egg white foam indicated in the drink menu, the bartender hat floated something pink or orange on top that was bitter and spicy. This was the only time I've ever sent drinks back in about 50 years. I read through their entire cocktail menu to see what the drinks we were served might be - thinking maybe we got someone else's order. Nope. Nothing on the menu remotely resembled the swill we were served. Rather than apologize, the bartender came to our table and confronted us, annoyed we sent back the drinks and insisting we got whiskey sours. When I showed him the menu description, he indignantly told me he followed the recipe. By now, we're thinking these guys are headed for an episode of Bar Rescue. Then came the food. By now we decided we didn't want to stay for the entrees so we opted for tapas. The panels cheese was good as were the bacon wrapped dates. That said, I don't think we've ever seen bacon wrapped dates quote that tiny for the price paid. We decided to order a pizza and ordered a pepperoni with sausage added on. Crust was good, but limited pepperoni, and the "sausage" amounted to sliced smoked hot dog (probably less than one whole link). Atmosphere was terrible as there is no sound absorption at all and it was loud enough to make a conversation all bit impossible without yelling across the table. We regularly support local establishments and had high hopes for Verde as they've reopened after rebuilding from the fire. Unfortunately after tonight's experience I don't think we'll be back. read more
