Dana just introduced a new menu item....PASTA! You can now order pasta dishes with three different sauces and proteins to add to the dishes. I had the Marinara with meatballs, my wife the Salsa Rosa with shrimp. The other sauce is an Alfredo, and the protein is chicken. (You can mix and match!) The Marinara was very authentic with crushed tomato's, garlic, etc. It was absolutely delicious! My order came with 3 large meatballs, made in the kitchen. My wife's Salad Rosa was a nice creamy sauce with succulent shrimp. The dinner comes with 2 fresh bread rolls. We ordered a cup of the tomato basil soup which was outstanding! We had a lovely first time/quick stop here - the food and wine were great, and the ambience was spot on. There were plenty of tempting options on the menu, all delivered quickly, and lots of comfortable seating available (we happily claimed the couch!). Service was generally good, though it could have been excellent if our server hadn't checked on us quite so frequently (over 8 times) and avoided discussing other customers' issues with a colleague within earshot. We went out of our way to drive here on our way home because it had a good rating on seed oil scout. We get our family out of the car and start walking up only to be told that no one under 21 is allowed anywhere near the restaurant. So we get everyone in the car again and are looking up other restaurants in the area. About 30 seconds later a woman who works at the restaurant comes up to our car knocks on the window and tells us we can't even be in our car in the parking lot. Very odd and rude and wonder if sketchy things are going on at that restaurant. read more

Impromptu dinner plans and headed to @vineinthevillage to check it out. Happy hour was until 6:30pm and we made it for a couple of drinks. My husband tried the Alex Pilsner draft from New Braunfels and really enjoyed it. I had a glass of house Pinot Noir. My husband had the Wedge Salad which he shared with Dad and me. Very fresh! Overall, the food was good but don't expect big portions of food. Small tapa plates. We had the Crab Cakes, Hummus Plate, Brisket Pizza and the Philly Cheesesteak. The crab cakes were overpriced and over salted. I would give it 3 stars. The brisket pizza and cheesesteak were tasty. @ginosdeli need not worry. We had the Chocolate Truffles for dessert. The middle was cakey and warm. Dad didn't want his so I'll have the last one with coffee in the morning! Thursday night is open mic night. It could be really good or not. It was just getting started as we ended our meal so can't really fully weigh in. There were outdoor seating but the ones available were high tops which would've been difficult for Dad to sit up. I would never recommend this place for any type of group or professional event. We tried to book a large party for a client appreciation dinner and the manager was shockingly rude and unhelpful. She didn't even take the time to listen to the request before flat out saying "no." When we politely asked if we could speak to the owner, her response was, "The owner will never get back to you," and then she hung up on us. That level of dismissiveness and unprofessionalism is unacceptable--especially in hospitality, where customer service should matter most. If this is how management treats potential customers bringing in a large group, I can only imagine how poorly they treat regular diners. We immediately decided to take our business elsewhere, and I'd strongly recommend others do the same. read more

This spot is so cozy, it feels like a hug. :) And everyone is so kind and friendly! It's the perfect place to meet up with friends or grab a drink after work. You can sit inside or outside and look at the hill country while the sun sets. I was also shocked when I ordered their pretzel and it was the best pretzel I've ever had in my life! Previously good experience with this little bar in a small town. On a recent stop for a bite to eat and glass of wine I was incredibly disappointed. When the bartender/server asked if I wanted wine I asked about a glass of Italian red. She said she didn't know and handed me a menu saying here's our wine list. She didn't know anything about wine or what they serve. I settled on a Spanish red. It was ok. I ordered a cheesesteak sandwich. There was very little meat that looked like Steak Umms, the frozen meat. In essence I paid $19 for bread and chips. Last time I was here it had a lively and fun vibe, the bartender was engaging and the whole bar was having fun. This time the employees were not engaging with customers. No conversation or laughter. Very dull. Overall a poor experience. Something has changed here and not for the good. read more

For 6 months we have been patrons and throughly enjoyed each live band, the owner and staff. I particularly love the pizzas and cheesecake! As well as the house made chocolate truffles. Tonight is 80s night, the party is outside in half of the parking lot; however inside, there's only two empty tables. With our friends I called it the wine country club, and now we have a box as club members. I expect that we will visit often, for Live music events, and special theme parties. I was hoping to try this place in the future. I was just stopping by to get a gift card. I had my kids with me and didn't know about the no children rule. I didn't even step inside when my children were blocked by 3 people and told they couldn't be there. I can respect the rule but it was handled poorly. My kids were surrounded by adults telling them to leave. I didn't even step inside at all, they were so close to my kids and the door. I couldn't even go inside to get the gift card, I had to purchase it outside. It would be appreciated to have one person speak to me about the no kids rule instead of blocking my kids at the door. For this uncomfortable situation, making me not feel welcomed at all, even though I was only there a few minutes, I will not be dining here. The Ultimate Chicken Sandwich was so awesome - the chicken was moist, the bacon crisp, the guacamole topped with added crunch from onion strings & the jalapeno bun were truly the ultimate. We are members at VIV. Because it's close to home, the owner, Dana, is so friendly, and the venue is just laid back, We truly enjoy popping over for a bottle and good conversation. The food is very good, too, especially the Philly and the pizzas. Live music adds to the draw. Every interaction we have with staff is pleasant. I particularly enjoy sitting at the bar and chatting with Mike. My only suggestion is to add a television on the side of the bar that faces the side patio. Cute little spot nestled in the heart of "downtown" Bulverde. It's very spacious spot with a vibe to suit everyone from a beer garden with a large screen tv, to a relaxing porch, bar seating, lounge area with couches, or a more traditional restaurant seating style area. If you happen to be there on a Friday or Saturday evening you'll be in luck for live music as well. The wine menu is very extensive but I was little bummed to see they only offer wine flights during the week and not the weekend :( . We had several different waitresses checking on our table and unfortunately none were very well versed In wine recommendations so be advised that you may have to just choose blindly and hope for the best. No wine drinking outing is complete without having a variety of meats and cheeses to accompany your beverage so my friend and I split the meat and cheese board. Their is a short menu of reasonably priced tapas and pizzas that you can choose from as well. The waitress delivered the meat and cheese board with no explanation of what was on the board-so again just kind of jumped in blindly and figured it out as we went. All in all, I enjoyed a pleasant evening drinking wine on the porch of Wine 101 but I'm not sure I'd make the drive from San Antonio to Bulverde just to go this place alone. If you're already in the area it's worth stopping in for a glass or two. read more

We have heard great things about this place and decided to try it. A home converted to a restaurant is tucked away in downtown Bulverde America. This is predominantly a wine bar that serves food (appetizers and pizzas). Entering through the bar area, you are greeted warmly and told it is open seating There are tables and couches with coffee tables. Very casual, cozy, and cool. Love this place. They have wine memberships (a waiting list currently). Memberships include personalized wine glasses and depending on the membership level, a quantity of bottles and discounts on food and wine are available . Have I said I love this place? We ordered a glass of Cab each (the Big Smooth), the crab cakes appetizer, and the sausage, pepperoni, and cheese pizza. Holy smokes...it was delicious. We were having such a good time, we ordered the cheesecake to wash it all down. We actually started fist bumping and clapping our hands like little children. Score! My new favorite place!!!!
