We have used Chuck's A/C twice now, and have had a completely opposite experience than the negative reviews on here seem to have had.
The first time we used Chuck's, it was 4th of July and our A/C went out. This was two years ago, it was over 100 degrees, and by the time we went back and forth with our Home Warranty (which were useless people and not worth a dime), it was late and we still had no help. Chuck's was there for us when we called, and came out at around 10 at night. It was Chuck's son, Matt, and for it being late and him being tired, I'm sure, he was super helpful. We ended up deciding to replace our indoor unit (I think it's the furnace- I don't know much about A/C), but that was OUR decision. We did not get pressured or sales pitched in any way. We had recently purchased our house, but the unit was old, and we knew we would end up having to replace it soon, so we just took the leap then. Matt was there for us, rigged up our A/C to work for the night (staying until after midnight), and was there promptly the next day to replace the unit.
Last year, on the same day, our outside system went out. That one's also old (14 years at the time). Chuck's was swamped that day (again, it was 4th of July), so we were forced to call someone else. The other company temporarily fixed the unit, but what we didn't notice was that there were wires sticking out of the unit afterward- very unsafe. In fact, Matt later told us that if one of those wires came undone, and someone came over and touched it they could get electrocuted- a lawsuit waiting to happen.
So, we come to this year, and it's July and finally getting hot again, so of course our outdoor unit quits on us again. I called the other place, since they had worked on that unit the previous year, and were told they couldn't make it out until 8:00 p.m. or later (it was about 2:00 p.m. at the time). Also, the girl that answered the phone was not super friendly. So then I called good ol' Chuck's. Chuck's wife said they could be out in about an hour, and even had me stay on the phone to check the outside braker box. (She wanted to make sure they didn't charge us for a service call if it was just a tripped braker.) Furthermore, when an hour had passed, she called back to let us know the service call before us had run a little longer than expected, and that they didn't forget about us. Now THAT'S good customer service.
Matt came out, and immediately spotted the problem as a drainage issue. However, since our outside unit was now 15 years old, we asked him about replacing it. Again, WE asked HIM. He did not try to pressure us, he just gave us the facts. He did show us how the fan was put on wrong on our outside unit, and told us that we were losing about 30% of our air, but he just seemed upset at the guys who installed it 15 years ago. Again, no pressure on his end.
He called everyone he could to get them to open up their shop (it was 6 p.m. at that point), so he could get the system hooked up as quick as possible. His dad picked up the unit, and they worked to get it installed quickly and efficiently. And, because of customer loyalty they even shaved the price down for us. As far as I can tell, we didn't get charged very much for service. And we got excellent service.
And of course, there's the fact that they love to teach you about what they're doing as they're doing it, they tell some pretty good jokes, and they're nice guys. I'm not sure how they have such awful reviews on Yelp, because we have had nothing but amazing service from them. They are literally a "Mom and Pop" company who have been around for years and years. There's a reason they're still in business, and that's because they care about their customers, and want to make sure they have the same customers for years to come. So thank you, Chuck's, for making what could have been an awful experience not so bad after all. (The only bad part was having to spend money!) We will be loyal customers for you, because you have given us every reason to be. read more
