The 2 flavors I chose were the Lemon Red (sweet lemon & honey hot) and the new Lava Peach. The lemon red lacked lemon and heat. I was expecting a lemony or lemon pepper undertone with spicy honey. Not quite buffalo heat but something. It was just sweet, no flavor, lacked heat. The Lava Peach didn't taste like peach at all. Not sure what I was expecting but I did like that it was sweet, it just didn't have any flavor beyond being sweet. I asked for them to be fried hard and they were fried regular. Maybe to them it was hard.

While we appreciated the extra food, mistakes like that can affect the flow of the kitchen. I ordered the fish po' boy, and although the fish was crispy, it had almost no seasoning or flavor. We also placed a to-go order, but it came with rice and beans instead of the green beans we ordered. Overall, I think the restaurant has a lot of potential, and I would try it again. The atmosphere and music were great, and parts of the meal were enjoyable. However, the long wait, food coming out in the wrong order, and multiple order mistakes took away from the overall experience. When I confirmed this was the happy hour portion, the server said yes--but didn't explain the serving size or suggest additional items. A little coaching would have gone a long way. At one point, when I asked whether the meal came with sides like banchan or rice, I was told, "This is not Korean barbecue." To be fair, the restaurant was clean, and the meat itself was flavorful. The concept of Japanese BBQ is interesting, and I now understand that this style is very different from Korean BBQ, with smaller, à-la-carte portions designed to be built into a meal. That said, the overall experience felt transactional rather than welcoming. I left hungry--and disappointed--not because of the food quality, but because the service and communication could have been better at several points along the way. This visit felt like a missed opportunity. With a little more attentiveness, clearer guidance, and stronger customer engagement, the experience could have been completely different.
