I cannot recommend this place enough! My friend was craving donuts and it was her bday so we found this gem which is open 24/7! The baker greeted us and answered all our questions. He was super nice and even told us about a fresh batch of French crullers and other donuts that were just made, and they were amazing! My friend got the red velvet cake donuts and loved hers as well. Amazingly, I've never actually been into this particular donut shop. But wow, I was so pleasantly surprised. The moment you walk in, you can smell and see the yummy goodness being made there. Please please PLEASE do yourself a favor and grab a cake donut if you can. Blueberry's my personal favorite, but you can't really go wrong with Chuck's. The donuts are always fresh and consistent. The store is what you would expect from a donut shop. You come in, line up, place your order, and walk out. It's clean and spacious. You can't really ask for more there. The only reason for the missing star is the staff. The couple of times I've been, I've had mixed feelings about the service. Some days, you get someone who's happy and smiling. Everytime I order the l sausage egg and cheese burrito they don't give me cheese the replace the cheese with potatoes . I called and asked why and they told me because they told me that's I said no cheese(not true). They're must be sometiypenof language barrier or something because they are not giving up the cheese. A tiny cafe located off busy Ralston. I haven't personally tried their donuts yet as I'm not a big sweets person, but their breakfast croissant sandwiches are DELICIOUS. Hit the spot every time. This is a small place near the Caltrain station and has some places to sit if you desire. The raised doughnuts here are very good. They are very fresh tasting and not too greasy. They are among the least expensive doughnuts but the quality is good. I guess they only take cash but I wasn't going to use a card anyway. Nice family owned shop. read more

I think this is one of the better doughnut shops on the Peninsula, especially in San Mateo County. The apple fritters, in particular, are great: flavorful and not greasy. I've been to both the Belmont location (off of Ralston) and the San Carlos location (off of Old Country Road) and the quality was the same at both (which is a good thing). read more

I'm not sure if the baker has changed or maybe the sold agsin but the quality & improvement in their already delicious donuts is amazing. They are the best donuts I have ever had. I'm somewhat of a donut expert since this is as my first job in 1976!! My last year of high school at Carlmont. I opened this store in Belmont! This baker is really the best donut baker ever. The chocolate buttermilk are so delicious slightly crispy but moist and creamy flavor on the inside. Dunked in perfect thick milk chocolate. I can't stop eating them. I came by with my husband to pick up a dozen for his coworkers - they have all of the traditional offerings you would expect but also had some specialty flavors available as well. I ended up getting a cinnamon crumble for myself which ended up being absolutely amazing. That glaaaaaze. This isn't your typical gloopy, sweet glaze. Oh no! It has subtle notes of something. I am not sure the oil they use, but oh man is it good! Cinnamon sugar - So cinnamony! My family always loved Chuck's donuts but ever since the new owners have taken over the service hasn't been really good. Most of the employees seem like they do not want to be there. They have an attitude like you are bothering them. When you ask a question they usually respond rudely. Donut wise it's not as good as it used to be either. They have changed up the recipes on some of their types of donuts which are still ok but prefer the older recipes the previous owners used better. Both myself and hubby had been craving Donuts recently so stopped by here with the intention of dropping one off at hubby's work which is nearby, I walk in and stand at the till for 3-4 minutes waiting to be served. No one is in sight despite the noisy alert that I had walked in the door. Finally a man who I assume is the proprietor comes from the back. Him: ''Eh?'' Me: ''Good afternoon. Him: ''What?'' Me: ''Chocolate Maple Bar? (questioningly) Is that what they are?'' Him: Just stares at me for a while then looks at the bag in his hand and let's out a sigh. ''It is NOT both. It is just one'' Me: ''Oh ok, I was't sure. 2 Maple then please'' He then proceeds to place them in the bag and puts them on the counter in front of me. Him: ''$2.20'' Me: Handing over the cash ''Thank you'' Silence. Him: Hands me my change. Me: ''Thank you. Have a good day''. Too late, He's already vanished back out of sight. I found the whole experience very rude and somewhat bizarre but I have my Donut's so I leave a little miffed but happy. My Donut high was short lived though, tucking into what I thought was going to be a tasty Donut was not. It was mediocre at best - Oily, chewy and tasted old. I thought maybe I just got a dud but my husband agree'd it was the worst Donut he's ever had. Honestly I get better from the local Safeway for half the price. Plus the ladies in the Bakery there are friendly. I'm all for supporting the small local business and would usually give one bad food experience a second chance (also rarely giving 1 star) but teamed with the unfriendly welcome I got I highly doubt I will go back. This place is underrated like Toyota Cressidas. Its awesome and unexpected. Open 24 hours and they offer a unique apple turnover slightly different than their apple burrito. Its got some cake crumbles and unlike the burrito half is not rolled up. This means half is left awesomely crunchy, the other half rolled with apple chunks. This is the place to go after youve been to the bar St James around the corner. Perfect spot for an after party. Small coffee for a $1.50 served with real half and half stored in a bucket of ice water on the counter. I like that. Its small details like how they store their half and half that say big things about how a place is managed. The guy working was friendly and multitasking between service up front and donut making in back. Very efficient. Clean looking store. Shiny metal chairs, a white ceiling and dark wood trim around the perimeter. Lots of parking. $5 min credit charge. Its so inexpensive here it might be a problem. Jelly filled donuts seen on menu but none present 1:30am 6/16/16. Lots of breakfast items and criossants and other stuff I have to come back to try. Their colorful pink donuts with bright sprinkles look great. I bet Homer Simpson couldnt resist them. read more

This donut shop just reopened under new management. Under the old owners, I used to stop here once in a while and while the donuts were good, the ambiance and customer service left a lot to be desired. I'm glad to report that the new owners have taken this little shop to the next level. They did some light remodeling inside and made it more hospitable to sit and hang out if you desired although the shop isn't that big. The new staff was friendly and asked if I needed anything else when I made my purchase. They also increased their coffee offerings although I did not try it at this visit. I got a bear claw filled with apple and a apple fritter for 1.75 each. Not bad and very tasty. This location will be a good stop for a tasty breakfast treat once a week. While I have not been to the location in person, I have been ordering donuts from them during the COVID-19 crisis. I am very impressed. The donuts stay fresh and delicious for a few days. Extremely happy with the cream filling, as it does not have an overly chemical taste like other donut shops. I also like that they just make donuts, not some insane creation with the kitchen sink on top that is called a donut. Personal favorites are the Bear Claws and Apple Fritters. read more
