The inside is festooned with gambling machines and a patriotic Jesus vibing kitsch and Fox News on the TV prominently displayed. Service was good with our coffee staying full more than it was empty. I had the steel cut oats and a side of eggs. My partner had the breakfast burrito. Everything tasted good. The milk for my oats was a little less than fresh and our table was not especially clean. My mom and I were in town recently for a garden event and wanted to grab brunch afterward. It was a nice Saturday so most places seemed to be packed. We decided to try Jim's since we were near it. We entered and it took a bit to be acknowledged. We took a seat and were told a younger server, Isabella, would be taking care of us. Although there were few customers inside and two servers working, it took a long time for her to come to our table, so long we were seriously tempted to leave. She also would make eye contact and turn away without speaking to us. The service was really bad. This was young server, so she will almost certainly improve, but she really needs to learn some small social graces, like saying, "I'll be with you in a minute." or "I'm sorry there was a wait." A little awareness goes a a long way. The interior matches the strip mall exterior - it's a diner dive. The food was fine, but not anything special. They served bottled beer and mimosas. There's plenty of parking in the lot. But I won't go back. There was actually a time when we were waiting for a check and she was sitting at the counter chatting away to someone. Um? What? Definitely a little hole in the wall place. When we are craving some good chicken, this is where its at! Really the main thing we have gotten here is the broasted chicken and sides, so I can't speak to the rest of their menu. But, basically, broasted chicken is pretty much crispy fried chicken pieces. When you order the chicken, its a mix between dark and white meat. Both are delicious. I'd skip out on the broasted potatos (they are basically like, a whole potato cut in half and roasted!), and I'd opt for fries instead. To round it out - get a salad, the Southwest salad is what we had, and the jalapeno ranch actually has a bit of a kick! They do takeout, but not curbside, so you do need to go into the restaurant to pick it up from the counter, but it hasn't been busy inside when we have gone so far. read more

Easy going, relaxed diner atmosphere with very reasonable prices and excellent food. The broasted chicken is awesome (go 4 pieces!) and the Friday Fish is probably my favorite in town. Full-pour glasses of wine, decent beer selection, nice clean bathrooms. TVs, and super-fair kids options. Good and proud local business. Add a little to the walls and get rid of the poker machines. Heard this place had good breasted chicken so we decided to check it out. It was pretty good. I got the 4pc as it was only $2 more than the 2pc. You also get your choice of soup or salad and potato. Well I gave it another chance. I ordered the pearch dinner. 3 butterfly of the boniest fillets I have ever eaten. Cold and I mean cold German potato salad. I thought it was served warm. I feel bad for giving such a lousy review as any business owner needs good reviews to keep the tables full, but unfortunately there are so many things wrong with this place, its a shame. First and should have been the first red flag, as we walked up to the restaurant, a waitress was sitting in a chair outside smoking a cigarette at the front door. As we approached she put it out, but walking through a cloud of lung invested smoke was a great way to say "yum, can't wait for lunch". Of course, she walked in and helped us to our table and wound up being our freaking server. Smelling like a complete ashtray, she took our drink orders. It was unbearable. She was so nice, but wow does she need the "patch" and a fresh smelling outfit. Second, the soda's are $2.50 each. While that may be more of the norm now, we all know it costs about $.15 to produce and is a money maker for the business. Only allowing for one refill and filling the glasses with so much ice you drink both before your meal comes out, feels like a slap in the face. Third, the food was "so-so". My wife ordered an omelette, which was fine, but more expensive than PJ's down the street and was completely mediocre. I ordered a burger and like Mike W. thought it tasted like rubber. No one asked how I would like the burger prepared, which is a shame because I don't like "well well done". The caramelized onions are in fact not caramelized, but rather thrown on the skillet to brown some raw onions. Plus for $7.99, you would think fries would come with the order, not some crappy stale chips and the smallest pickle spear I have ever seen. Again, sorry for the bad review, but step it up if you want to stay in business. We won't be back, which sucks because we are supportive of local business (if you have your business in order and produce a good product). One good comment in closing, the interior, while oddly set up, was clean and looks like the owner took pride in the build out. Tip to owner: fire the wait staff and hire people who haven't worked at IHOP for 54 years. In addition, fire the cook and find someone who can actually cook. Finally, re-evaluate the prices. Charge $2.50 per soda, but offer as many refills as one can drink. I promise you will still make money and not upset the customer to save a few pennies. read more

This small old timers restaurant used to be an okay place to grab a quick meal, but not anymore and is horrible now. We had specific instructions for our order and it was completely disregarded. After taking our order home we called to complain and speak with a manager. There was no one in charge they said. A detailed message was left with a girl who said she'd have the owner call. Guess what? He never did. Even after another phone call the next day, we spoke with Jim on the phone, he sounded annoyed, and that he'd return our call. He never called, what a suprise. The food is mediocre at best, the help is clueless, the owner Jim doesn't give a darn, and it's a waste of your hard earned money to go here. The produce and other ingredients are pathetic. Really wanted to like this place as so few restaurants have AUTHENTIC broasted chicken and we were trying to support local businesses during the pandemic. My sister and I placed simultaneous orders at 5pm on a Friday for 12 piece chicken+ broasted potatoes . They said they'd put orders together and separate them when we arrived. Pick-up time at 5:20 and we arrived on time and paid separately. They gave us 1 order and after 10 minutes we asked about the 2nd. They said the orders were bagged together, so we checked & both boxes had chicken but no potatoes. They brought out 1 container of potatoes and said other would be out shortly. 20 minutes later we asked status & if they were re-cooking the entire order. They said no, just the 2nd potatoes. SO, entire 1st order was cold , bottom 5 pieces of chicken were SOGGY and not a single one of the front staff apologized or offered any compensation (free dessert? Extra chicken?) For our inconvenience. And I had left a 30% tip for Take-out!! I am usually very patient with waitstaff as it is not always their error, but they should know HOW to deal with this and if they really knew customer service, they would have offered to re-make the entire order as it wouldn't have taken any longer than cooking the 2nd batch of potatoes!! Also, at least 8-10 other orders came out while we were waiting . REALLY disappointing. Cant even comment on the food because it was cold & mostly soggy. read more

Once again big disappointment! Service lacks as well as the microwaved meals. It would be easier to go across the street to in and out and be what you expect ! Don't have to leave a tips either at in and out. The lasagna was Luke warm and very salty. Waited for a refill but never got one. Waitress person never came to check on us. Had to wait for bill by register. Register person asked how everything was I hesitated, I said I guess we'll just stick to breakfast. She walked away after handing me my receipt didn't say a word. I have givin this place a chance the only thing they can't screw up is breakfast! The girls that work evening lack in common sense and checking on tables. I gave Jim's another try since they originally reopened in 2014. HUGE improvement! Food is delicious (my favorite is the broasted chicken), prices are reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. Would recommend calling ahead if you're dining with a larger group, so they can arrange a table. I came in with a group of 11 people. They had to move a couple tables together for us. No big deal. We gave Jim's grill a try when they opened up... It failed miserably. So, we thought we'd give it another try. We are sorry we did. Nice clean place, but layout was odd. My wife had a salad... Hard to make a bad salad. I ordered the only item on the menu named for the place... The Jim burger. Now, one would think that if your putting your name on the line you want to put your best product out there... Well, one would be wrong. The Jim burger is a frozen most likely precooked patty that was thrown on the griddle. I say most likely precooked because it had charcoal grill marks on it, but it definately was not cooked on a charcoal grill. Very disapointing. The wait staff seemed more interested in chatting with the few regular customers than waiting on tables. Never checked back once the food was delivered to refill drinks. I stopped in here hoping to find a local gem that might not look like much from the outside but that was awesome inside. This is not that place. Wait staff is horrific. Immature, talking about tips and complaining about customers where everyone in the restaurant can hear. They have no charm or even knowledge of the menu. The Thai peanut salad is amazingly yummy!!! Wait staff was pleasant. This was our first visit, as we are new to the area. MOST RESTAURANTS GET THEIR FOOD FROM THE SAME VENDERS. IT ALL TASTES THE SAME. Most of Jim's food comes cooked and frozen. They just heats and assembles. It's either deep fried to re heat or fryed on a electric grill. The grill is set to high and the sausages, and hash browns come out frozen in the middle. A grill should be at 325 degrees and leave the food on longer to heat the middle. Pancakes come out to dark and raw on the inside. They may even come frozen. read more

My son and I went out to dinner at Jim's Grille last evening and had a great time. We felt very welcomed and had a great meal. I had a veggie omelette which was delicious - the cheeses, onions, spinach, tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms were perfect. The whole grain toast was done just the way I like it. My son, a guy with a BIG appetite, ordered the Southwest Burger and he devoured it. He has eaten lots of burgers in his life and he said this was definitely one of the better ones. It was prepared just as he ordered it - medium rare. The fries were very tasty and plentiful. Perhaps the best part of our dining adventure was the wait staff. So, being a good restaurant involves a few things. Sadly, this place delivers on one thing and that is the food. It was perfectly acceptable (not stellar). Aside from that we have several problems. Service was awful. We got one refill (a fact that will become more egregious later) and we had to get a different waitress to get them. We were only given one place setting. The booths are small, and the room layout is, in a word, weird. The food took FOREVER to get to us AND they never delivered the appetizer. The wait may have been understandable if the restaurant was anything remotely close to busy, but there were at most 10 other patrons (not tables CUSTOMERS) in the restaurant. The staff just seemed totally unfamiliar with the process of serving customers. Prices were fair, portions acceptable, but the service was so poor I wouldn't even get takeout. read more

I grew up in Cedarburg , and this place has been around forever . My mom couldn't wait until the place reopened after the fire (she's 88) We go every 2 weeks or so and have never been disappointed, we always have the same waitress , almost the same table and everything is fine ! read more

Jim's Grille was just average. The service was great. We were there with 4 people. Two of us ordered bacon, eggs, toast, and hash brown. The eggs were really bad. The eggs were crunchy and my dad found a piece of like hair or plastic in his eggs. He did not eat the eggs but the sever was very nice and gave his meal for free which is really the nice thing to do. The bacon wasn't that good and that whole meal was crispy, overcooked and greasy. My brother had a Belgian waffle which was overcooked. My other brother had french toast with a blueberry topping which was nasty because they topped the whole french toast with blueberry sauce and it just ruined the whole meal, he got sick afterwards. The orange juice was amazing even though they serve them in little tiny glasses for an unreasonable price. I would not go back to Jim's Grille for breakfast read more

The service needs improvement. Some of the staff just has a deer in headlights look. If there is someone just sitting at a table, offer a menu. It shouldn't matter if it's your table or not. I ordered a sandwich and wings. 25 minute wait for the sandwich. There were 6 customers in the restaurant. When I was brought my sandwich, the top slice of bread was stale and the bottom slice was somewhat soggy. I think it was sitting out for quite a while before being brought to my table. I was almost done with my sandwich when the wings finally arrived. Don't bother with the wings. There was barely any meat on them at all. All 6 of the wings had broken bones. I eat a lot of wings and these were not quality wings at all. The other times I had been there the food was good and the prices seemed fair. Every time has had opportunities for improvement on the service times. It's a new restaurant with new employees. Give them time to work some bugs out. I'll keep going because I've enjoyed the food for the most part and I'll be happy to update this review if things improve service wise. read more
