Great place. Awesome design and name. Spacious = not too stuffy. I don't usually go to bars much, but I really like this neighborhood bar because it's clean. I pass by this bar everyday and decided yesterday was the day to try it out. As far as pub food goes it's good. I mean not mind blowing stuff but just the right amount of greasiness that I was anticipating. My buddy and I both got the chicken tenders and fries. Usually chicken tenders are super dry in the middle. Not these. Moist crunchy deep fried goodness. My hips probably hate me. And they have my fav Blue Moon. One of my favorite bars to go to in the city when I just want a chill and relaxing night! The prices are affordable and they have a wide variety of drinks. The best thing is too is that if its not on the menu, just ask them to make something! The food is also really good, my top items are the fries, burger and chicken wings! What is also great is that if you don't feel like having bar food, they are more than welcome to you bringing in your own food! Entertainment wise, they have TVs everywhere with most likely every game that is playing that day will be there. So you can keep tabs on all your favorite teams! Don't want to just sit around and watch sports? There is a pool table, arcade games and a juke box to play your favorite music! If it doesn't have your favorite song, ask to play it off your phone real quick! The bartenders and staff at Chug Pub are super friendly and nice! Chugpub is the spot for folks that live off of 19th ave! Me, my roommates, and friends have been coming here for over a year thanks to the the 28 and Owl bus lines. The bartenders and management are great and friendly, and the great drink specials make sure I come back to hang. Overall a pretty decent place to get a drink and hangout with some friends. Pretty good beer selection. Nice staff with lots of TVs which makes for a good place to come watch the game. My one complaint is that the damn pool table is squeezed at one end of the pub and it made it hard to play without waiving the end of your cue in someone's face with the possibility of knocking over their drink. Someone was clearing not thinking while arranging the back gaming area. But other than that I'd come back for a quick beer after work. read more

I've been to the Chug Pub a few times and I've loved it every time. I was iffy/tickled by the name of the place, but I gave it a chance anyway and I'm glad I did. The size of the place is about right and I've yet to see it get too crowded. Most of the time I've just had a few pints, but my recent trip I started with some of the food, the chicken strips and fries, which was good and just right for the price. That same trip me and my buds decided it was time for the Chug Tower! The tower is awesome. It's not exactly going to save you a lot of money, but it's enjoyable to have your refills sitting next to you wherever you are, and some Nachos to go with it, for about the right price. I recommend it just for the adventure. Most importantly, I give this place major credit for the small "inside-yet-outside" area for smokers. Being able to have my drink and smoke a cigg is something I have not been able to do for a long time. Props to you Chug Pub. read more

Can I give no stars? I just tried to go into this place and I used my Permanent Resident card. I was told it was a fake ID. I tried to explain that you cannot get more government issued than a Permanent Resident Card and I use this everywhere. The staff was rude and had no idea what they were talking about. I am 27 years old AND I work in 2 bars. Number one do you think I could have got those jobs with a fake green card and Number 2 I am educated enough to know what is an acceptable form of ID in California. Terrible staff. Incredibly rude. Obviously need better training. They also lied that they "looked up" my ID. I call bullshit because if you actually Google Permanent Resident card it's pretty clear that it's an acceptable form of ID in any bar. I also used this exact same ID last time I came into Chug Pub, which is LAUGHABLE. Consistency obviously isn't their strong point. read more

Was here on a Friday night for a friends birthday. The place was great, scene was cool (half the crowd was our friends that came out to celebrate). There was one HUGE thing that totally ruined the night. The bouncer with his slick back hair and pink dress shirt, that exposed a pale chest. Really? A great bar to hang out with friends... we came here after a long day at CAS and de Young since it was close by to grab a few drinks... we left the bar completely hammered... lol. We started off with the Chug Tower which is a GREAT deal... The chug tower is $30 dollars and it comes with fries and nachos (I think, I'm not sure, there was a little confusion at first but we ended up with fries and mozerella sticks because they didn't have nachos) The chug tower pours about 8 pint glasses full of beer... and they have a great selection of beer... Where else can you get such a great deal? After the beer we started drinking their special shots... the bartenders were super friendly and started making us their "specialty" shots which lead us to be in a very drunken state... but the shots were very tasty and different! There's a pool table and tons of TVs to watch sports and other things on... there is also a smoking room which is completely ventilated to the outside but nice if you want to smoke and not outside in the rain. read more

So a friend and I were looking for a place to chill on a Monday night that had a good vib where we could just sit and have drinks...we saw all the reviews on yelp and bang zoom, here I am. Thank the fucking lord. This place is AMAZING. It's in a pretty easy location to get to and the whole place is SO clean. I mean you could eat off the floor. I wouldn't god-forbid I mean seriously ewww, but the point is you COULD. They were playing Scurbs on TV, and seriously who doesn't love Scrubs? The drinks were strong as the river Styx and the bartender was so fun. Seriously she was a doll. I want to invite that bitch on my next girls night out I love her to death. i love this place! everytime i come back to the bay area and meet up with my friends, i want to find an easy place to get a drink at a good price. i came here on a friday noon, and found the place fairly crowded, but was still easy to talk to my friends and order drinks. their appetizers are pretty good too. this is my new venue for prepartying and lounging with friends. it might be a bit far from the SF action, but its worth it. i cant stand being in the middle of the city unable to find parking and getting ripped off for a beer. read more

Theres a reason this 'pub' is always empty and its because they try to steal your money. Even though I've been a loyal customer, I finally had enough last night when they tried to double charge me for drinks I did not have. After inquiring about it they tried to to say that 'I had one too many' and had no idea what was going on. Now, maybe it was the bar tender that night who was new, but either way I had to fight to get my money back, and that is not an accusation you should be making of your customers when you run a bar.
