I've been here a handful of times and each visit, I'm less and less impressed (..but I keep giving them another chance..) This most recent visit was a complete letdown. I walked in around 5:30 PM planning to sit at the bar but saw there was no chance cause it was PACKED. Happy hour I ended up seeing later. I decided to l order to go. Super unorganized setup, there's a front window with a cashier to take your order who's also responsible for packaging to-go items and checking-in with Dashers. Dashers all crowd the window, walking right up to it not caring about those in-line to order. Very confusing and super unorganized. The 2 people working the window were nice, overwhelmed you can tell but maintained their composure when taking my order. Pretty fast turnaround time to get my food. I now know why... I ordered the quesadilla with carne and asada and what an absolute disappointment. I was so confused on what I was looking at the moment I got home. Thin quesadilla, definitely was expecting it to be thicker but when I lifted 1 half up, evening came out because it was super soggy from the pico de gallo. My walk was less than 10mins. There was more pico de gallo and tortilla then there was carne and cheese. The cheese...non existent. I have no idea how they missed the cheese in a quesadilla. Literally was shocked to see there was almost nothing of cheeses inside. It was just a soggy mess of pico and some carne straggling. Their to-go chips bag is a joke, there's about 12 chips inside. Other plates I've had are their guacamole - 3/5. Basic, nothing out of this world. Nicks Way fish and shrimp tacos - 3/5. Usually these are my absolute favorite (from their old location) but on a recent visit, the corn tortilla was so dry I'm not sure they even heated it up. Churros - 2.8/5. Nothing amazing or special about them. Their salsas I will say are 5/5. Probably the only best part. Michelada is OK, more of a Bloody Mary mix with beer added. For what you pay for, it's not quality at all that you get. There's so much potential for this place but their quality is just horrible. I'm being generous with 3 stars. read more

It was my first time here and I will say, the service was undeniably good. They were very kind and attentive, always making sure I was taken care of. Unfortunately, the food wasn't where I wanted it to be. To start, the portion size. It was very small, especially for the price. I got 2 burritos, the SF burrito and the Baja burrito. To add rice and guac to the Baja burrito, it was $5 extra, but they said it would make it much more filling. When it came, the only thing I could think was, "is that it?" Now, the flavor was great. The fish was very crispy and the Baja sauce was good, I just wish it was a bit thicker. It really lacked in guacamole though which really disappointed me considering I had to pay extra for maybe 3 bites worth of it. The San Francisco burrito just was not that good. I don't know whether it was the flavor of the carnitas or the beans, but something wasn't working on it. Overall, I would return to try other items but I would be wary to order the same thing. This spot was pretty good. We were in the area after visiting an art exhibit at the de Young and looking for lunch. The interior looks a little dark and like a bar, but the outdoor patio was very sunny and nice. I ordered the shrimp burrito which was mostly cabbage salad with some delicious shrimp. My friends who ordered tacos seemed to be happy. My other friend who ordered the quesadilla with carnitas said it had almost no cheese, and was all carnitas, so she wasn't too crazy about it. Now that we live up the street we're going here at least once or twice a week. Can't say enough good things about the specials, brilliant approach to happy hour margaritas where they just come around with pitchers. Love the new Quesabirria Mondays. This place has become my go-to brunch spot after some sort of event/race ending in Golden Gate Park. Every time I've come here, we've been seated right away in the back patio, which is sooo pleasant and bright. My go-to is generally a burrito bowl, which always hit. Very pleased with the Taco Tuesday special! I wasn't expecting to be taken away, but the carne asada and carnitas tacos were spot on delicious. The al pastor tasted more like a stew, and I was disappointed, but it was still good. The (thick) chips are the authentic kind made from tortillas, crispy and salty. They were so good with the salsa and guacamole. There weren't that many people there which surprised me, but their to go window seemed busy. We were seated on the rear patio which was small but cute and well shaded while still having an outdoorsy feel. Since we didn't have time to get to the Mission for burritos (tourists visiting the city for just one day), I ordered the San Francisco burrito which was described as "Mission style" with carne asada. Delicious. My friend enjoyed her grilled vegetable burrito. We washed them down with el Diablo for me (a mescal margarita) and michelada for her. Our server was a sweetheart and we received our food promptly. My friend asked the bartender if he could charge her phone. My family and I were staying nearby and decided to try this place because of all the stellar reviews. We noticed a few comments about portion sizes, but decided to give it a shot anyway. We ordered three SF burritos, which came out to around $60, definitely on the spendier side. The food came out quickly, and the staff was extremely polite when I asked for extra salsa. The salsa itself was fantastic, my kids love dipping their food, and the whole family really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the portion size warnings were spot on. The burritos were yummy but tiny, everyone finished theirs completely, and we were still left hungry, which makes $20 per burrito tough to justify. This one is like Taqueria meets Sports Bar in the Inner Richmond 9th and Irving food corridor a block from GGP. 5 of us came and we all got our own protein version of the Nick's Way single taco, all about $8.50. This is a very large handful, with a crispy taco shell surrounded by a soft tortilla, stuffed with loads of Pico De Gallo, brown beans, guacamole, and of course your protein. I got the Pollo Asado. This is the kind of place that every neighborhood needs. Great food with an inventive blend of things that are comforting and familiar but done a little differently. Chips and guacamole come with a huge helping of pico de Gallo, the carne asada California burrito was excellent, and my friend really liked her flautas, especially the carrot flauta that she got without knowing what to expect. Been a minute since I left a review -- still a massive fan of this place. I've only been to their Too and Tres locations (and when Tres was on Irving at 19th Ave years ago) and as I alluded to in my previous reviews, the thing that always sticks out for me is how happy the staff is here -- at both these locations -- and it's been that way for about ten years now. As I told manager Osprey tonight, if anyone is unhappy they're doing a great job faking it. She laughed and said they have a great team where everyone likes each other and they all work well together. Indeed! The food, of course, is still killer and I enjoyed another bowl of Tortilla Soup that was even better than I've had before. It seems slightly less acidic and just a hint of creaminess, and abundant chicken. Flautas (essentially taquitos) are great, my sister enjoyed her steak quesadilla and I went to a place of bliss enjoying my elote con queso -- the best I've had anywhere. Since I live in Pacifica, I'm more apt to go to Underdogs Too in the Outer Sunset but nice to come and and visit Tres here on 9th -- especially given the incredible staff. The location of Underdogs Tres at Irving and 9th in the Inner Sunset cannot be beat. The happy hour for drinks and food is extremely popular with my friends, and after going with them I can see why. I tried the Taco Nick style, which I highly recommend. It's definitely on the heavier side and I could only eat one, but for the price you really can't beat it. It's super satisfying if you're craving something indulgent. The chips and guacamole were delicious, and the ambience is fun and casual. There's even a quirky painting of a llama in one of the bathrooms that made me laugh (a small detail but memorable) I would definitely come back, though I personally have to be a little careful with all the oils on the chips and tortillas. Ordering by phone or app, I have to ask for extra salsas because it was usually 2-3 people I would order for but we'd only get one of each salsa and one bag of chips. While she ordered a couple of tacos, I ordered their California Burrito with Carne Asada as a bowl. Our orders came out within 10 minutes during lunchtime, and I wish I had ordered the burrito (as I normally do). The burrito portion seems more dense, with crispy fries on the side compared to the bowl having the fries drenched in cheese and being soft. Their menu is diverse and is worth it most during their happy hours and Taco Tuesdays! I would recommend their Taco Tuesday tacos with any meat you choose over going in during a regular time/day to try one of their other selections. read more

This is located on a popular dining street just off the southern edge Golden Gate Park. It's a chill spot to dine in indoors (tables or at the bar) or outdoors (front sidewalk or quiet back patio). You can also order food to go from their takeout window outside. Indoors, there's a TV playing sports. The other wall is lined with a long mirror, which is convenient if you get food stuck in your teeth haha. The servers are very friendly. They have an exxxxxcellent Baja Taco which you must order Nick's Way for all that delicious guac, cheese, and crispy taco shell. I highly recommend it. Their San Francisco Burrito is good too. I live in the Sunset and have been a regular customer at Underdogs, so tonight was extremely disappointing. I came in to pick up an order, and the employee handling pickups tonight -- a man with long dark hair and glasses -- was unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful while I was simply trying to complete the pickup process. At one point, he told me, "I don't give a fuck." I work in hospitality myself, so I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but there is no reason to speak to another person this way. Whether someone is a customer or picking up a delivery order, they deserve basic respect. The space itself is nice and recently freshened up to be extra clean and comfortable. This location also offers outdoor seating. So if the weather is nice, you could sit in the backyard or in front of the restaurant. My wife and I usually get the taco's Nicks way. I like the grilled chicken she likes the vegetarian option. They make two house salsas. They are both pretty fantastic. Don't forget to request them if they don't automatically bring them to your table, which they usually do.
