First time here, it's a nice neighborhood. You order on the kiosks and wait for your order to be called. There are so many options to choose from and some I've never tried before. I'm familiar with Chun Yang in NYC and was so happy to see they opened up a shop on the Bay Area. Their teas are usually pretty strong which I really enjoy. I got their oolong tea latte and felt the ratio of tea to milk/water was slightly off. I could taste the tea but it felt slightly watered down. Hoping the next time I come the drink will be a little stronger like I'm used to in the NYC location. That Their menu also offer a lot of variety from fruit teas, milk teas, smoothies and more with interesting toppings. If you're a fan of purple rice, red bean, or oatmeal as toppings, they have it alongside other commonly found toppings across boba places. I haven't tried too many of their drinks but I am obsessed with their raspberry oolong tea. Their other fruit tea drinks are also good but in particular, the raspberry oolong is perfection. I usually do 25% sugar and it's just slightly sweet to balance the roasted oolong flavor with the fragrant raspberry. You can do two sizes here which is nice but the prices are on the higher side compared to other boba places in the area. Really enjoyed the drinks at Chun Yang! I came by on a few random weekday afternoons with some coworkers and found the shop really clean and welcoming. They have a pretty extensive menu, with lots of teas and flavors that most generic boba shops wouldn't have. The few times that I've gone, I opted for an oolong tea latte with 30% sweetness and boba. I also learned that there is an option for extra tea flavor, so I've gotten that both times and really liked it as you can really taste the tea flavor come through. The oolong is extremely fragrant. It's the perfect balance of tea and milkiness in my opinion. They also do their boba pretty well, and it's the right texture with chew but not too hard or too soft. It is a little bit on the pricy side, but I think it's justified given the tea quality. There is some street parking as well as a garage for parking too. read more

Parking: at first it seemed difficult to find a spot but if you park in the back of the building, there are plenty of spots. Don't bother looking for street parking or parking at the apartment's guest spots. Store: Wow, there was a huge crowd! Alot of people came for the soft opening. I waited about 30minutes in line but it was worth it. I loved the ambiance and the decor of the store. The subway tiles and wooden counter gave the store a classic yet modern feeling. Drinks: I had the green tea plum drink. 50% sugar. OMG it's really good!! It has a similar resemblance to tamarind. Brings me back to my Asian childhood of eating tamarind candy. At 50% sugar the drink was perfect sweetness level. I also had their osmanthus oolong tea. I'd have to say they have nailed the flavor and floral smell. If you know anything about the osmanthus flower, it's very fragrant and this drink instantly reminded of it. Overall, I will be coming back again. Their menu has many interesting and unique drinks that I want to try such as red bean with fresh milk, oatmeal tea latte and longhan red date tea. As a boba connoisseur, I tend to judge not only boba but the drinks. I've come here 3 times hoping the drinks would taste differently every time, wondering if it was just me not ordering correctly but it's definitely the drinks. The boba is a little chewy (which I don't prefer) and the drinks just feel like you're drinking alot of milk and not as much tea. I've had their Green Tea Cheese Macchiato (they recommended 50% sweetness but I think I would have preferred 70% or 100% sweetness to balance out the saltiness), their Passion Fruit Green Tea (well balanced at their sweetness recommendation of 70%, and Pudding Milk Tea (well balanced at their sweetness recommendation of 50%). I attended the soft opening of Chun Yang. The business is located in an apartment complex and there was a long line when arrived. The wait was a little long due to the credit card service being down which required the manual entering of information. The cashier was very friendly and explained the variety of drinks. The owner was frequently checking on peoples orders to make sure orders were being fulfilled in as timely of a manner possible. Unfortunately there were a few selections I wasn't able to try due to seasonality or unavailability at the time. I ended up ordering the raspberry black tea and hojicha latte. The raspberry black tea was super refreshing and the hojicha latte had good flavor. I found the raspberry tea to be my preference of drink choices due to the flavor bomb in each sip.
