It was our first time at this location and the atmosphere was lively with a live DJ and lots of people networking while enjoying the food. We started with the kimchi veggie dumplings with the half spicy sauce. They were flavorful, well cooked, and surprisingly filling. We also tried the bulgogi tteokbokki japchae which was an easy standout. The portion was generous and the flavors were bold and really satisfying. For our main, we ordered the individual chicken combo and chose the spicy soy garlic wings. The chicken was crispy and packed with flavor. We added truffle fries on the side along with their chicken dipping sauce which paired perfectly with the meal. My husband and I love their Mac and cheese so you can imagine my disappointment when I ordered tonight and received bland ass overcooked mushy KRAFT Mac and cheese!!! So when we found ourselves in Sunnyside for his birthday with a large crew recently, we decided to swoop in and take over one of their picnic tables. I love Queens, and how the restaurant spaces are so large and uncrowded. They have two floors of long tables, perfect for large groups. We didn't have to wait at all on a Saturday night in the summer. All we wanted to do was grub and drink beer, and they delivered that experience in spades. We collectively downed multiple pitchers of beer to go with all the fried chicken we could stomach. Since we had a large group we ordered pretty much every flavor they offer, but thought the golden bbq and mango habanero were best. We also got multiple sides, including japchae (glass noodles) and parmesan truffle fries. This is not a spot to have a light and healthy meal, although I see photos of salads on their Yelp page. I have been to plenty of restaurants in my lifetime but this is the first time I have ever had this type of experience. I was on a date night and have been looking forward to coming here for a while and boy was this place a complete disappointment. This review is about the lack of communication with the waiter, and kitchen. It really ruined my dinner because I did not get my dinner. Mad for Chicken is a very large space with a full bar. They were busy but not that busy at all on a Friday night. We were seated right away and everyone was polite and friendly. I ordered their chicken drumsticks with chicken thighs. The waiter said chicken with wings. I corrected him and showed him on the menu what I wanted and he repeated my order and said ok. I also ordered truffle French fries. My other half ordered their Spicy chicken sandwich that came with fries plus a Kirin Ichiban. 10 minutes later the spicy chicken sandwich came out and it was hot and looked delicious but it was not my dinner. I of course told my other half to eat and enjoy his food while it was hot. I waited for an additional 5 minutes for my dinner. When my dinner finally came out it was not what I ordered it was chicken drumsticks with wings so I returned it. At this point, I still have not received my truffle fries. I think if they would had brought my truffle fries, waiting for my correct order would not have been so bad because we would be eating together. Now about 20 minutes later. I do not think that the waiter communicated with the kitchen about my wrong order. There was no immediacy to bring out my correct order. The kitchen was sending food out to other tables while I was waiting for my correct order, plus truffle fries. My better half finished eating his dinner and I was still waiting for mine. The waiter said nothing to me about my order. What would you do? I was so annoyed I just wanted the check because we came out to eat together. I ended up watching him eat then he was going to watch me eat whenever they decided to bring out my order. What a waste of time. Updating my review to say - yay, this location has reopened! This was a definite loss to the area when they had a fire so it's so nice that they're reopened. I haven't dined in yet since they reopened but I have gotten takeout. The dining area is massive with large picnic table seating. There's also a large bar and tvs to watch your favorite sporting event. My go-to order is still the Mad tenders (half soy garlic / half spicy soy garlic) and the kimchi fries. The tenders come with pickled radishes which is a nice, refreshing break between spicy soy garlic tenders. The kimchi fries come with spicy mayo. The chicken tenders are light and crisp on the outside and moist and full on the inside. The avocado salad is great-- one can serve 3 people. The dressing is sweet and tangy. It's very spacious inside and looks like a very dimly lit beer garden. The vibes are super casual. The only downside is that it takes a long time for a waiter to come by and take your order, they barely ever check in, it takes a long time to get the check, oftentimes we have to go find a server to get any service. I also will say that their chicken wings are a LOT larger than other locations which is a huge plus.
