Chips and Guacamole super yummy ! The side salsa nice and Smokey not too spicy just enough.

Nice clean establishment. Food on point with great flavor. It was delicious . Service was actually really fast. Friendly staff.

Free chips and salsa. The left is a spicy chipotle based sauce. The right is a creamy ranch like sauce

I really liked Chungas. They have friendly and fast service. Tons of options. The tacos were delicious and everything tasted like it was made with good quality ingredients. Sometimes you go to fast casual Mexican places and the beans and rice are overcooked and mushy. That is not the case at Chungas. Their rice and beans were perfect. I also enjoyed their tacos. The tortillas were crispy and the meat tasted great. I liked the al pastor better than the asada but both were tasty. I only wished they had some sort of salsa bar so you could serve the salsa yourself and try their options. I wasn't a fan of their chipotle sauce so I requested their green salsa that was kinda mild and lacked flavor. Overall, Chungas is a great spot for a quick authentic bite.

My little brother and his wife were in the area so we decided to meet at this location. Food is the same quality as the original location on 900 W. They rock with the al pastor but this time I tried something different. They didn't bring out my sister in laws burrito until late, after I asked about it. I believe they forgot and I was in a rush had to leave before they could finish. 4 stars for the food and 1 star for the slow service/forgotten order.

3.5, I like the 900w location but this spot can be a total cluster. First off the parking at lunchtime or when they are busy is atrocious. I watched numerous cars back out on Redwood just to avoid the lot. If you drive a smart car you might be able to at least turn around. Next the seating. There's maybe 30 chairs and no outdoor seating like the other location. Luckily a table was clearing as we finished ordering. Oh and don't be a dick and have someone in your group sit and "claim" a table when your party is 10 back in line. So I dig the food. I usually go with Al pastor or asada. Prices are in the $9 range, no drink. I feel this is a bit steep for taqueria food. But hey you can't blame them. They have built a following.

My wife follows a an Instagram influencer who listed Chunga's as her top pick for Street Tacos in Utah. We gave it a try and we don't regret it. We get pretty spoiled with our selection of Street Taco choices in Vegas, but this place was solid. Great selection, flavorful food, and service was quick and easy. With it being reasonably priced, you can't go wrong. Not the most amazing tacos I've had, but it nonetheless did the trick.

Chunga's has two locations. We went to the location on redwood. They didn't have a lot of seating so we decided to take our meal to go. We read reviews that recommended ordering over the phone instead of online. So that is what we did and it was great! They had our meal ready for us right on time! We actually loved the prices. For a meal with two tacos, rice, beans and a drink it was $8. Very affordable! They had a simple menu, with all of the options you would want from a Mexican restaurant. We didn't love our food. We might have ordered at the wrong location, or come on a bad day but we felt the meat was dry, and the rice and beans were just okay. We were a little underwhelmed by our experience. OVERALL This is not a place we would necessarily recommend.

I honesty don't how I can express my love for this place! My husband introduced this place to me and I've been hooked ever since! They are always busy! So come knowing you might have to wait a little bit to get your food. HOWEVER the last few times I've gone I have received my food significantly faster! The place is fairly small though so if you come at a busy time, it may be hard to find a table. Anyways, the workers are very professional and so friendly! I love the atmosphere! Now, let talk about their food. Their Al pastor meat is my favorite! We always get a burrito enchilada style and it is delicious! they add a little bit of pineapple which brings out all the flavors! it complements the meat really well. They recently opened this new location and it still just as good! They have such refreshing drinks that i haven't tried but everyone around us ordered it so i will get it next time!

Disclaimer: I was born and raised in Yuma, AZ which borders Mexican & Cali. So I am accustomed to a very specific type of Mexican food, Sonoran. Since moving here I've discovered that Utah's "Authentic" Mexican restaurants do it a bit different than I'm used to. I ordered a carne asada burrito with chili Verde Sauce. I requested no pineapple. The sauce was not bad, it was very loose and not as packed with green chili flavor as I'd like. It did have a tiny hint of spice and a note of sweetness which is interesting. Along with the carne asase the burrito contains black beans, rice, and cilantro. The carnes asada was a bit dry but it had decent flavor. The ratio of meat to beans to rice was great. They used a white cheese on the burrito. It tasted like queso fresco. Thank goodness they didn't use cheddar like I've seen all over the valley! For dessert I ordered Plátanos con Lechera. The plantains were cooked nicely and the lechera was delicious. The serving was huge and I was unable to finish them. Over all I enjoyed my meal and I'll definitely be back to try more menu items!

Chungas al pastor tacos: the only way I choose to get to flavor town

What a gift!!!! This location is slightly closer and much more conveniently placed by the freeway. We have of course been to the original restaurant in Rose Park several times, and with this location open now, it looks like El Pastor will be back on my menu more often If you've never been to Chungas, you ABSOLUTELY want their al pastor tacos! I recommend putting their ranch sauce on it too If al pastor is not your thing, their carne Asada burrito is out of this world, with their one made fresh guacamole and that crumbly Mexican cheese! it cant be beat! Their chips and salsa are among the best I've had, with their verde being my all time favorite. Their jalapeño ranch sauce is to die for. I would put that stuff on anything. The quesadillas are a force to be reckoned with! Even the plain cheese ones are F L O W I N G with the good stuff (cheese!). If you get carne asada or al pastor, you're gonna go on a journey. If you're hoping for the same quality and service you get at the other location, you will get it! I even recognized several of the staff. I'm very happy for the owners, they are doing fabulously, and I'm glad that they are seeing so much success! I cannot overhype this place enough.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I got a BOGO free burrito coupon from their FB feed, so why not? So glad I did! I had the spicy green chili burrito--delicious! Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

The food is still very good here and some of my previous gripes are no longer an issue. I can now order tacos and burritos à la carte again. While there is still no way to go pick whatever salsa I want and the options are still more limited than before, at least they bring out 3 of my favorites with the chips now. The drinks are still just okay , a shadow of their former selves and I will never be able to accept the loss of my beloved watermelon margarita, the way they used to make it, but I will concede the drinks are decent. Service was fine. Parking is a hassle but that's just Sugarhouse. ‍ So yeah, I guess I'm back to "willing to eat here once in a while", from "I'm never eating here again". They even have a nice taco Tuesday deal which I may hit up in the near future.

Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Letty, completely changed our opinion of this restaurant. There were two main issues that made our visit frustrating: 1. We did not receive our drinks until after our food arrived, and we actually had to remind our server that we were still waiting on them. When Letty brought out our food, we politely asked about our two cokes and were told, "Give her more time." We felt we had already been very patient and only asked after our food had arrived. Waiting for drinks while eating a meal was frustrating, especially since the restaurant was not busy and was actually starting to slow down during the last hour we were there (around 8-9 PM). 2. While we were eating, Letty refilled our water and the table next to us, then continued having a long conversation with the neighboring table while standing very close to us. It felt like we were being completely ignored, and the lack of awareness for our personal space made it difficult for my husband especially to comfortably enjoy his meal. We understand that everyone has busy shifts, but the level of attentiveness and service we experienced was disappointing. We left feeling frustrated and unlikely to return after this visit and would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
