Nice chill environment in here, some night club lighting but not too dark, high ceilings, comfy velvet chairs, video of ppl walking thru Seoul on the walls. It was comfortable and fun! There were a good number of people here at midnight on a Friday. Pork belly plate - the pork belly was delicious! Great flavor, nicely cooked, served on a metal rack so the oil drains nicely. The sauce was great and not very spicy, served with onion, trumpet mushroom, garlic and jalapenos. Would definitely order this again. Corn cheese - great! Served boiling hot! Good flavor and a good amount of cheese. We get these everywhere and this is up there in the top 5! Egg roll - overcooked, frankly. Too dry and not a lot of flavor. It was better with cheese corn heaped on top! Wold skip this next time. Shrimp toasts - holy moly, you might die of a heart attack but you'll go out on a high with a smile on your face! Super deep fried bread, just the perfect amount of crunchy crust with a soft middle and delicious shrimp flavor inside! Top tier comfort food. Top tier drunk food. If your party has these, it's lit. Beef pancake - basically a thin beef frittata. Didn't know what to expect from the picture and the "pancake" descriptor, so it's basically thin cut beef and scrambled egg, fried flat. Better than the egg roll! Enjoyed the green onion mix that goes with it! Also great w corn cheese on it Would be interested in trying the shrimp & chives one sometime! Service was easy, they have call buttons on the tables, and the waiter was great. Very easy ordering and quick service. We will definitely be back to try other things.

We had a really satisfying meal at Chungdam 828, and while the food did take quite a while to come out, every dish tasted so good that it was definitely worth the wait. Our server, Danielle, was super friendly and provided excellent service. We ordered 쭈대새 (beef intestine), 지코바 치킨 (grilled spicy chicken), 차돌박이 떡볶이 (beef brisket tteokbokki), and 닭똥집 튀김 (fried chicken gizzards), plus extra udon, ramen, and rice to round it all out. Everything paired perfectly with our Sapporo pitcher, and we especially loved that the venue is pet-friendly on Sundays. It was a fantastic bar that we'd highly recommend.

Stumbled across this spot on Yelp and couldn't have had a better time! Daniel the Manager was very cute and super hospitable. Customer service was A1 for sure. The Clam Soup was on point, lots of clams and the soup was so refreshing with the right amount of kick. The Abalone... let's just say we got a second order, . We were told it was yummy and...it was very yummy. Their Kimchi was also to my liking because it was extra fermented...yum!!

Chungdam is one of those places I keep in my Ktown rotation when I want music, mood, and an intimate lounge vibe that surpasses most in the area with my partner (don't get me wrong, I l love the graffiti-worn Pocha bars too; this isn't quite the destination for that vibe). I've been here multiple times with my Korean partner since last September, and it's become a reliable fallback when when we want something more upscale but still relaxed. The music leans dark and seductive with K-pop and EDM influences, which aligns with what many regulars mention and is a big reason this spot stands out. When the VIP room is open, usually on weekends, the energy really comes together. The design and atmosphere are a huge part of the draw. Industrial brick, concrete textures, and comfortable lounge seating give it a downtown Korean lounge feel without trying too hard. Halloween week stood out in particular, with decorations that showed real effort and added to the experience. Between the music videos, occasional projectors, and thoughtful layout, it works well for date nights, small groups, or nights where conversation and music share equal importance. Food here is better than expected for a lounge. The Korean rolled omelette is soft, savory, and comforting, and the spicy buldak is rich, glossy, and consistently satisfying. Both would be recommended for first-timers! The menu is approachable for both Korean food fans and first-timers, though I do wish prices were a bit more affordable or that they offered more specials or a rewards program for regulars. Staff is generally friendly and attentive, and small touches like complimentary popcorn and QR codes on the chopsticks add to why I keep coming back.

This probably has to be one of my least favorite pochas in Ktown, mainly because of the food quality. I came in around 8pm on a Friday night. There was valet parking behind the restaurant for $3 (cash only) which wasn't too bad. Walking-in, I found the décor very quirky and Squid game like. It was unique in a good way I'd say. However, there weren't a lot of patrons during my duration of my visit. The service was pretty decent and I like how they give you some buttered popcorn to snack on while you wait for your food. My friend and I ordered the Grilled Pork Belly and Kimchi Bacon Pasta and I ordered a Jeju Highball for myself. The pork belly was very disappointing. I know what microwaved pork belly leftovers looks and tastes like and I'm pretty sure we were served microwaved pork belly that was cooked a previous day. For $33, this felt like a waste of money and I would've just gone to a regular Korean BBQ for some fresh pork belly. While the ssamjang and veggies helped, it could distract from the dry and unfresh pork belly. For the pasta, it was alright. For the quantity and quality, it wasn't worth almost $30 for. As for the highball, it wasn't very great. It just tasted bitter with hints of fruity flavor. Overall, I was disappointed with the food here and would probably not come back.

Great food, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. The dishes were flavorful and came out quickly. Staff were attentive and made us feel welcome. I also enjoyed the clean and modern interior. Definitely a place I would visit again!

I had a great night at Chungdam! The vibe is fun, a bit retro and stylish -- perfect for grabbing drinks and hanging out with friends in Koreatown. The menu has a nice mix of bar bites and Korean-influenced dishes that pair really well with soju and beer. I especially enjoyed the Korean egg roll. It was very fluffy and it went well with Judaese soup with is a spicy octopus, beef tripe and shrimp soup -- both were tasty and shareable. The service was friendly and welcoming too. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in K-Town!

This Korean bar might seriously have some of the best Korean-style fried chicken in town. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, juicy inside, and perfect with drinks. I was honestly surprised that the pasta was also really good, not just an afterthought like many bars. They also had a great selection of Korean drinks, so it's an easy place to come with friends and just relax for hours. The vibe was lively and energetic with lots of people talking loudly, drinking, and having a good time. Interestingly, almost nobody was actually sitting at the bar, which made the place feel more like a trendy restaurant with a bar atmosphere rather than a typical drinking spot. Service was friendly and attentive even though the place was busy. Definitely a place I'd come back to for both the food and atmosphere. read more

This is a funky little Korean restaurant with a very unique vibe. It feels like a party while also being a sit down restaurant. They have party music blasting very loud, but there is no dance floor or anything, just tables and booths. I've been here twice- once in 2024 where I tried the kimchi and bacon pasta and it stuck in my head since then. I finally came back when I was in the area this past weekend to get it again. We also got the shrimp fried rice. The food here is very expensive, like $25-$35 a dish, but it comes with a good sized portion! Service was extremely slow and we kept having to track down the waiters and ask about our food. It took about 45 min to get our food but both items were so delicious! This place is a classic example of bad service good food. Overall, this definitely is a once in awhile place due to the super loud music and super slow service, but if you're craving some amazing kimchi bacon pasta I would highly recommend. read more

Only had bar seating despite being first one there before they opened. Bartender had no sense of awareness when people needed anything. Everything I had to ask for and when I did, it took a while for her to acknowledge us. Only ordered their wings and that order alone took almost an hour. I was told they couldn't put sauce on the side. That's a first. Also never bothered to checked on us. I understand its the World Cup and Korea's first game but man they gotta get it together here. $30 for some wings with fries along with $10 draft beers seems a bit high. Such a fun vibe, really yummy food, and great setting. Came on a Saturday night around 10pm, was seated right away. Love the room with the projection of the DJ playing music on the walls. Really friendly service too! Accommodated our group of 10 happy easily! read more

This is honestly one of my favorite places in Koreatown. The owner is incredibly friendly and always makes you feel welcome, which really makes a difference. The food is amazing and tastes very authentic. There are so many options on the menu, and everything we tried was delicious. It really feels like you're eating in Korea. They also have a great selection of drinks, so it's a fun spot to come with friends. The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, perfect for group hangouts. $40 BLUE LABEL NOT WORTH IT Went for a party and didn't stay long because the bartender girl didn't know what she was doing. I don't normally write bad reviews but ya'll need to be warned. First she ignored us and served all the guys at the bar and then finally came over after I yelled out to her (bar is tiny how you gonna miss us?). We ordered Johnnie Walker Blue and she gave us the teeniest pour over a glass full of crushed ice watering it down immediately. $40 a shot we should at least get a full pour but she SHORTED US as she measured it out in front of us! $80 for a sip of Blue? No thanks. We left immediately. read more

I believe this spot has changed hands for the third time but somehow still remains to be current and still our sleeper go to spot while in town. Located in KTown next to infamous Rosen Karaoke!! Main area is the bar but almost with a super club vibe in the side semi private area with DJ on weekends becomes a total vibe!! Highly recommended read more

He thoroughly checked my ID, and very politely let me in without a fuss. Many times people complain about security in a place (especially nightclub) and give the place bad reviews. That just means the bouncer/security person was just doing their job and this individual didn't like it! Upon entering, you're greeted by two other security guys that will pat you for guns. I am absolutely 100% behind this practice, as it gives everyone peace of mind knowing you're just vibing with a bunch of unarmed fellows (as it should be!). The inside has a bar to the left that runs all the way across the end of the venue, and a dance floor to the right with a nice setup. The DJs were great, the music was fantastic, and the people were fenomenal. Every member of the audience/patron/customer here, whether young or old, male or female, was friendly and a blast to party with. I either got lucky and went in a particularly good day, in which people just happened to be fun to talk to, and friendly, or maybe this place is always like that. Who knows? I had a blast nonetheless. The entrance is free, but there's a catch: water at the bar is 5 dollars (for a water bottle, obviously) and it makes sense. They still need to make money. I don't drink at all, so I just got a water bottle and danced the night away. I only had to use the restrooms once, and there was a short, quick and efficient line to use it. That was also due to the great clientele that frequents this place, just nice vibes overall, even in being quick, and efficient when using the facilities, and getting out of the restrooms quick so that others could use it. By 1:45am, things had to start winding down, and the DJ let us know about it. By the time the lights came on at 2am (pics posted) everyone quickly and in the most organized fashion started exiting through the other side of the venue: the back exit of the establishment. People still linger outside if you want to talk more and some even go to the Dennys nearby. My overall experience at this discotheque was nothing short of sensational. 10/10.

Finally made it to this HOT (both in popularity and live-fire cooking) spot in Glassell Park just…read moreoff the 2 freeway. Apparently they've been open about 3 years, but all the buzz, accolades and crowds seem more recent than that. Reservations can be tough to secure, but recommended. We had a 5:30 opening time res, and I was quite surprised by the length of the separate line for walk-ins. But it appears they all made it in. Their next-door bar only seats walk-ins. Restaurant guests can wait here, but they also have a limited menu that includes several of the popular dishes (like the cornbread) and also a bar-only hangar steak, which replaced the highly lauded bar-only burger. Eagle Rock Blvd is a wide multi-lane street with a center median/parkway. The restaurant has a valet; street parking can be difficult as there are homes and apartments on the side streets. Eagle Rock Blvd has some parking, but across the blvd is FAR and hazardous to cross. A better bet is Bushwick St. behind the restaurant. There aren't a whole lot of businesses nearby, but on Dunsmoor's block there's a bar (The Grant) and a breakfast/lunch/bakery spot (Bub & Grandma's) where Dunsmoor gets their bread. Dunsmoor's Spanish Revival corner space is impressive and lovely. Chef-owner Brian Dunsmoor grew up in Georgia, but the cuisine here is "American Heritage" with definite Southern touches and of course California's abundant purveyors/farms. The menu seems highly seasonal and earthy; I doubt they use tweezers to plate the food here! The space has individual 2-top tables along 2 sides, the middle of the space has 3 long communal tables. There's counter seating right in front of the open fire (great view but hot) and a few more to the right. The fire is a further distance away from counter guests here vs. the spacing at Betsy in Altadena, another live-fire spot. Dunsmoor also has a back kitchen where non-fire dishes are done. We ordered a lot: 1) House Meyer lemonade. Dunsmoor's spirit-free beverage selection is limited. but the lemonade was great, sparkly. Their wine list is pretty large. 2) Chopped chicken liver with bacon, rosemary, onion preserves. Served with bread from Bub & Grandma's. Delish. The thought the rosemary would be overpowering but it wasn't. 3) Edna's sour milk cornbread. Pretty much seen on every table. Cheddar and Hatch chiles flecked through the bread, topped with a mound of melting cultured butter and honey cascading like waterfalls over the sides. A must order. Not spicy at all, thankfully. 4) Regier Farms yellow peaches with farmers cheese, different basils and olive oil. Summer on a plate! The peaches were exquisite. Clearly a seasonal dish. 5) Carolina Gold rice with shrimp and corn. A delish cross between risotto and grits. There was lots of cheese too. An ode to the South. 6) Aunt Emmy's pork and green chili stew. Another top-seller. Homey and substantial, with a slight kick and fabulous house-made tortillas. 7) Beef ribeye with smoked bone marrow and sea salt. Definitely shareable, it's prepared medium rare unless otherwise told. Our slice had a bit of gristle, but it was well prepared. We placed the smoky-rich marrow on top of the steak as recommended. The sea salt was not needed. Would love to try the pork chop and duck someday. 8) Sliced Cherokee tomatoes, simply dressed with apple vinegar, olive oil and sea salt. Another winning seasonal dish. The also have a tomato Caesar dish with more ingredients. 9) Sticky date pudding. Well done moist version of a classic, served in a cast iron dish with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. Would have loved to try the seasonal stone fruit and blackberry cobbler and the hand-churned ice cream, which on this night was cantaloupe! Overall an excellent and substantial meal. Unlike some past reviews, the service was fine and very friendly. I enjoy a Michelin-starred fancy tasting menu (where they use tweezers to plate) every so often, but a hearty, rib-sticking but upscale meal like this is also great.

The focaccia with whipped ricotta is a must order. Even if you don't like ricotta, you will absolutely love this. The honey has such a rich and complex flavor, it is simply magnificent. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the Agnolotti del Plin. It was sweet and light. I personally would recommend that you share this dish, because the flavor is so unique that I didn't need a lot of bites to feel satisfied. The highlight of the Sausage & Peppers pizza is the crust. It was airy and crunchy and so satisfying. (Next time, I'd order a pizza and keep the extra honey from the focaccia to drizzle on top!!) The hangar steak was a bit of a let down. It tasted a bit "game-y", which was very shocking. I will pass next time. The broccolini was good, but nothing worth raving about. If it were me, id stick with the appetizers, pasta, and pizza!!

It also low-key made me feel like I was dying back in New Orleans when I was sitting on the second floor balcony area overlooking the street. The service here is friendly and attentive as well. There's definitely a great sense of hospitality here. A small group of us came here in a week night so we were able to get seated pretty much right away. Well, at least after a little time that we were able to spend at the bar. I started off with a martini. It was delicious as well. And the bar is really nice. When we got seated, we were seated out on the balcony, which I really enjoyed. It felt like I was really dining on one of those balconies in New Orleans. We ordered couple of skewers - beef kofta and maitake. We also got and a couple starters/sides - the whipped feta, vadouvan cauliflower, and sticky Japanese sweet potato. And for a main, we got the chicken schnitzel. Everything was well presented and full of flavor. I don't think I disliked any of the dishes. Maybe I'm easy to please but seriously everything was really good and well prepared. I wanna go back and try some more mains like the branzino. Just a wonderful dining experience overall. And if you're looking for a nice dinner that won't break the bank and has a great vibe, this is the spot.

I had such a great experience at Cheongdam! The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was full of flavor. The drinks were just as amazing and paired perfectly with the meal. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. I'm Japanese. it was so good. I was imagined been in Korea. We ordered some pop. This Korean-style izakaya has a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and make you feel comfortable right away. Went to Chungdam for the first time because I found out our favorite Manager Danny recently started working there! Danny always makes our group feel welcomed and takes such good care of us! Food was surprisingly really good and I liked the setup of the lounge.
