I am not a nightclub person (just for reference, this past weekend, when I visited Terra Cotta, was just my 2nd time at a club), despite that, my time here was fantastic. Let's start with the obvious one: the line outside. The bouncer was this very courteous, professional and well-dressed African American man. He thoroughly checked my ID, and very politely let me in without a fuss. Many times people complain about security in a place (especially nightclub) and give the place bad reviews. That just means the bouncer/security person was just doing their job and this individual didn't like it! Upon entering, you're greeted by two other security guys that will pat you for guns. I am absolutely 100% behind this practice, as it gives everyone peace of mind knowing you're just vibing with a bunch of unarmed fellows (as it should be!). The inside has a bar to the left that runs all the way across the end of the venue, and a dance floor to the right with a nice setup. The DJs were great, the music was fantastic, and the people were fenomenal. Every member of the audience/patron/customer here, whether young or old, male or female, was friendly and a blast to party with. I either got lucky and went in a particularly good day, in which people just happened to be fun to talk to, and friendly, or maybe this place is always like that. Who knows? I had a blast nonetheless. The entrance is free, but there's a catch: water at the bar is 5 dollars (for a water bottle, obviously) and it makes sense. They still need to make money. I don't drink at all, so I just got a water bottle and danced the night away. I only had to use the restrooms once, and there was a short, quick and efficient line to use it. That was also due to the great clientele that frequents this place, just nice vibes overall, even in being quick, and efficient when using the facilities, and getting out of the restrooms quick so that others could use it. By 1:45am, things had to start winding down, and the DJ let us know about it. By the time the lights came on at 2am (pics posted) everyone quickly and in the most organized fashion started exiting through the other side of the venue: the back exit of the establishment. People still linger outside if you want to talk more and some even go to the Dennys nearby. My overall experience at this discotheque was nothing short of sensational. 10/10. read more

It feels like a place that's trying to be trendy and upscale, and to be fair, it mostly succeeds in that. Food: The food was okay, but not super memorable. We ordered a few small plates and shared a couple entrees--everything was presented nicely, but the flavors were just kind of average. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. For the price point, I was expecting more. Service: Service was friendly but a bit inconsistent. We had to flag someone down a few times for water refills and waited longer than expected between courses. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely noticeable. SHADY BUSINESS AND WORKERS. BEWARE. Went here on June 14th around 10pm. I was heading to an event nearby and the place was completely empty so I decided to grab a quick drink. I ordered a mixed drink from the bartender who was an Asian woman maybe in her mid 30s. The drink was around $17 but when I got the receipt I noticed a 20% "bottle service" fee was added to it, which is already pretty ridiculous to me since I didn't get bottle service. Anyways, the total came out to about $20 and some change. I left the tip line empty because I figured the bottle service fee was basically a phony form of tip being added to my check. I look at my bank statement a few days later and notice I was charged $23 dollars instead of the $20 that it should have been. This means they ILLEGALLY forged and added a $3 tip to my check. Seriously how desperate and shady do you have to be to do something like that? Bunch of lowlifes trying to nickel and dime people. I will be disputing this with my CC. Anyone thinking of coming here I would highly recommend you stay away from this place unless you want to get scammed. My guess is they do this on a regular basis hoping customers don't notice. The security guards checking purses on August 16th @ 11:00pm made only the female guest to do 20 jumping jacks before letting them go forward. Inappropriate and p*reverted behavior from the staff. Met up with some friends here but we arrived at exactly 11pm. It took about 45 mins for us to get in so get there early so you don't waste your time. Some people even left the line too (and I don't blame them). I also noticed that there's LOTS of dudes and a big group of them in front of us were having trouble getting in which made the process of us getting in lagged. Inside looked small and the layout was a bit weird. There is no cover charge here but the drinks are wayyy too overpriced. That's LA for you I guess. I had a incredibly disappointing experience with a bottle girl named Regina. She had the audacity to throw a fit in front of my group, bad mouthing me (a complete stranger) and complaining that I was in the bathroom too long because she needed me present to run my card for the table. My friends even heard her loudly ranting to a coworker. Keep in mind, I was gone for maybe 10-15 minutes waiting in line for the bathroom that only has 3 stalls so the wait was completely out of my control. We came here because someone recommended this place to us but we were extremely disappointed with the service. For the first round of shots, I noticed there was a "BOTTLE SERVICE" charge of 20%. I asked about this extra charge and she mentioned that all orders over $50 have an automatic 20% gratuity charge. Ok that's fine, even though this was never disclosed to us. For the next and last round, I asked the bill to be split into 2 bills. The bartender became aggressive and said "You can't do that, I'm still going to add 20% to each of your bills". I asked why, when the bill isn't over $50. She responded "so you're not gonna tip me?" I never once said that and told her I intended to tip, but I don't think an automatic 20% gratuity should be tacked on to every order without my consent, especially when the order wasn't reaching the minimum for the gratuity. We found this place through a quick search on yelp and decided to go visit with friends. Was expecting it to be a pretty easy club to get into as our friends got in pretty quickly with little wait time and we had to meet them there a little later. The line was absurd compared to how packed it was when we got in. Probably to make it look more poppin than it is. After getting in the venue was alright it's got nothing special. It has a small small stage for the dj and minimal visuals. The bathroom is easy to find as they have a comical sign above it. I like this location more than a lot of other clubs but I have a good amount of complaints. #1 Inaccessibility to water. I can go on a very heated tangent about this, but I think it should be required for all places that serve alcohol to offer patrons free drinking water. Every time I go the bartenders say they don't have water on tap. I'm not sure how that works considering they can literally serve you shots with water. Even if you explain to them that you would be fine with literal sink water in a cup, they won't do it. My workaround is asking for a cup of ice and chewing on that throughout the night. If I'm desperate, yes, I go to the bathroom to fill the cup (I don't care if you think that's gross, I refuse to get nauseous). #2 Overpriced drinks. $20 for a Long Island iced tea and $20 for a Red Bull and vodka. I thought when I got the bill they accidentally double charged me but no. Skip the drinks here they're watery and weak. #3 Music. Granted, I really hate EDM, but that's not even my main complaint. I swear on my life they have the same DJ playing every week because why do they have the exact same songs on constant repeat. No matter how inebriated I may be, I have noticed every time they will not only repeat songs from when I was last there, but will sometimes even repeat songs the same night. I would love to hear a wider range of music, like more early 2000s, but I would also suggest to management music for the girls. No ones having fun if the girls aren't having fun. Play music they want to listen to because that's how you earn money. It's always funny when they're playing trash and then throw you a bone with something like Nicki Minaj and all the girls get super excited and the energy shifts. Now for other notes. Bouncers and bartenders are fine, never had a problem with them. Girls, they will NOT let you skip the line so don't try. I was not let in because the main C@ckHole said I was a liability with my mobility scooter but did offer us the option of a $300 table to be let in. I was beyond livid and I made a scene, so much a scene, I had called the police to file a complaint report. They knew that as well and purposely closed the club an hour early too avoid dealing with the police. Several patrons kept showing up not understanding why the club was still open inside but the doors where locked outside. After waiting way too long, the cops never showed up & a one sided report would have been hearsay. Staff is incredibly rude and demeaning. When my friends and I were getting our IDs checked (most of us are south east asian and latina) the bouncer gave all of us really dirty looks. Bottle service girl was demeaning when we made the mistake of going under the ropes to get to the bathroom. I understand the protocol, but she was extremely rude about it. When we were close to the dj booth we got scolded by security for simply grazing the ropes there. Dj and crowd were good, but staff ruined the experience by over-policing and demeaning us. Every time I go out with my friends! We love to dance and party, and this is our favorite spot in Ktown! The security dress as well, so does the staff and the venue is pretty cool looking on the inside, not to mention they have some really amazing cryo- and lights inside of there with huge LED screen, it's almost like having a mini Vegas feel or festival feel inside of this club! The bottle service girls are always so polite and nice and so is the bar staff! If you are in LA, you definitely have to come by this nightclub! There's always a great variety of different DJs and styles of music being played throughout the night so no matter what kind of music you like. Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. Our party had a table/ordered bottle service. For a party of our size, you'd think they'd accommodate a larger space... But it was so small. My partner and I are gay and came here on a Saturday night expecting to have a fun evening. Unfortunately, the night was any thing but that. The security guards seemed to be extremely homophobic and when we started to show affection, asked us to leave and then became extremely physically aggressive. One of them started to put me in a chokehold and the others started to physically beat my partner and others attacked me as well while calling us homophobic slurs. They even tased my partner. They only stopped when I threatened to call the police. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems like the security guards regularly over step their bounds and extort other customers. This was by far one of the worst experiences my partner and I ever had at a bar in los angeles. It was extremely humiliating and degrading. It was good the first two hours with the music but then one of my friend's feet was hurting and so he sat down for a minute while we were waiting for our other friends in the restroom. This security guard came up to my friend and said he was "too drunk" because he was sitting down and kicked him out of the club. They waited for an hour before getting back in line again just so that the securities knew there was time for him to be sober (which again, he wasn't drunk) and security didn't let him in after that. Then the same security guy made a comment that the rest of us needed to leave and that we weren't welcome there. FYI, we didn't create any problems: no fights, nothing illegal. The other weekend I came to support my DJ friend Meirlin. I honestly did not know this location was located in Korea town. After my friend told me I was surprised when they said it was next to the Wiltern. Terra Cotta is a cool little lounge spot that turns into a mini club. Fully equipped with screens and lighting effects to enhance the nightlife vibe. During my visit the bartender was really cool. They mixed our drinks up perfectly and that set the night coastin. We were able to get behind the DJ booth as there were some booths. It was very convenient as the place did get really crowded on a Saturday evening. This place is rough ... came here for the first time on a Saturday in October and would not be coming back. Arrived around 11:45/12am and the line to get in was very long. Since you are not able to buy tickets you have to stand in line and hope the security lets you in. Like the other reviews suggest if you inquire about the line/getting in, the security will tell you "we are at capacity" which it in fact is not. People are constantly coming out and once we got inside there was a whole left side that was empty. The security is rude and talks down to you. They cornered my friends in the men's restroom and accused them of doing something nefarious and wanted them pay close to $100 or else they would kick them out. I would have rather spent money for a ticket to get inside and have a better experience then deal with difficult workers. read more

*Review for the Bar after 10pm* I wanted to check out this place for awhile and finally got the opportunity to stand in line for over an hour between the times of 10:30-11:30pm. Thankfully, my friend did warn us about this and it was a friends birthday, so we came open-minded and continued down the path. The bar was beautifully lit along with the chandeliers above and the surrounding tables away from the DJ seemed somewhat polished. Then you get to the rest of the place. Yikes. We had a few shots at the bar and a round of mixed drinks tasted like water, but decently sized! I was lucky to ask a mixed group of people to just sit at their table in the middle and they were really pleasant for the most part. Used to go here all the time and had a lot of fun - last night I was physically assaulted by two international Korean men who wanted my spot right in front of the DJ and when my friends and boyfriend intervened security just dragged us out. To be fair, they also were dragged out, but I'm disappointed with how they handled that as we got punished for quite literally just getting assaulted, and I wish I filed a police report. This is a pretty solid place for dinner and drinks! The only thing is if you want to get dinner you have to be out of there by 9 PM (I guess it turns into a club later in the night). I came by with my boyfriend and his friends and we started off with some drinks. I got the soju mojito which was quite refreshing. When we ordered food we tried to get kimchi fried rice but they told us they were out of rice (how on earth do you run out of rice?!) so we had to order other things. We got the messy street potato, Yuzu sauce fried chicken, TC burger, pork belly mac and cheese and tteokbokki. You want an alternative to Denny's after a show at the Wiltern? You got it at Terra Cotta. Terra Cotta is a Korean Fusion restaurant/bar located right next to the Wiltern Theater and is open until 2 am. If you aren't feeling Denny's or a bacon wrapped hot dog off push cart after a show at the Wiltern, well, here you go. We came after 10 pm and I'm guessing the late night menu is a different than the dinner menu because half of the items shown in Yelp photos were not on the menus we looked at. Fried Chicken Wings - I got these dry with sauces on the side, which came with a ginger soy and a hot sauce. The wings were fried fine, but the sauces came up short. The ginger soy is not bad and not too heavy or overly sweet. The hot sauce looked creamy but was just straight heat with not discerning sweetness, creamy goodness or another other flavor. It isn't a typical buffalo hot wings sauce nor is it a sweet hot like you would get at Kyo Chon. I can handle heat, that wasn't the issue, it just had not flavor so I had to as for a side of gochujang which was 10x better. I'm puzzled as to why they didn't mix gochujang with this hot dip to make a better wing sauce. The cabbage salad that came with was oversaturated with tangier than thousand island sauce that killed the vibe. Truffle Fries - This is a huge serving and is good for sharing between four people. Truffle oil tossed through and through with Parmesan cheese, I enjoyed these. Kimchi Fried Rice with Short Rib - This was pretty standard rendition of kimchi fried rice but the short rib didn't really bring anything extra to the dish over regular beef. Tteokbokki - The tteokbokki were cooked to the correct chewiness and this dish was served with fish cakes, boiled eggs and scallions in Korean red sauce. We all agreed that there are other places that have a more crave worthy red sauce. Porkbelly Mac and Cheese - This was stir fried pork belly in your traditional korean spicy pork red sauce then topped a bed of mac and cheese on top. A very flavorful dish but also extremely rich. Better for sharing than for just one person. On the side of it was a huge pile of yellow onions and chives. The onions and chives could've used another couple of minutes in the pan as they were almost raw. In terms of food, Terra Cotta left a little more to be desired. I loved the truffle fries but everything else was uneven. If you aren't feeling Denny's, then definitely go to Terra Cotta. But if you don't mind driving half a mile, there are tons of other things you can explore late night in K-Town, especially if you are truly craving Korean food. read more

I'm a regular and come here every weekend and I never get bored! I've been here for the restaurant during the day and also for the lounge/bar at night. I usually aim to go to a chill lounge over crazy clubs because all I care about is not waiting a long time to get a drink up front and Terra Cotta is just that! Their menu selection for drinks is pretty good and I would highly recommend the Purple Haze, the Mexican Candy and the Soju Mojito. They do stop serving the cool drinks on the menu after 11 though, and I think same with food (also highly recommend the truffle fries). What I like about this place is that the music is always lit, and the atmosphere is great and the interior decor is also pretty cool. It may get crowded at times, but it is also spacious so I guess it never feels overly crowded for that reason. I would suggest to come in before 11 though, because the line can get long around 10:30 PM. read more

TLDR: Delicious Korean/Fusion restaurant bar near Wiltern Theater with great food and great ambience. The restaurant converts to a lounge after 9:00PM. Incredible atmosphere, spacious seating, and super friendly staff. The interior decor pleasantly surprised me upon walking in. The entrance of the bar is lined with a GIANT wall of drinks, illuminated by neon lights. The seating arrangement varies throughout the restaurant - going from long bar tables, to more dining-like booths, to giant group booths, to two-person seaters. There is a space for every type of gathering, whether its a large group or an intimate gathering of friends. We ordered: TEOKKGALBI PLATTER W/VEGS (5/5): This was the first Tapa on the menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The dish is basically short ribs served with some rice cake, brussel sprouts, and two halves of an elote. The short ribs were subtly sweet, and the rice cake provided a wonderful texture to each bite. Order this to share! KIMCHI FRIED RICE W/EGG (2/5): This dish did not meet the mark for me. The kimchi was WAY too sour, and overpowered the rest of the taste. The egg provided no consolation to my puckering. The texture of the rice was not noteworthy either - it reminded me a lot of reheated leftovers. Would skip on this dish. SOY GLAZED CHICKEN WINGS (5/5): These chicken wings were fat and generously portioned! We ordered the small, and it was definitely enough. The glaze was the perfect balance between sweet & savory. The salad that came with it was delicious as well. But maybe that's just because I love spicy mayo LOL. Who says all things Terra Cotta have to remain buried in tombs? No one? Oh, well Terra Cotta is a delicious Korean fusion restaurant/bar/lounge. What's that mean? After 9pm, the whole place is converted to a lounge so you can get your... drink and networking on. But who cares right? Food's the important thing here. We got soy glazed wings which was surprisingly really good. The mix of sweet and savory melded like... soy glazed chicken wings. Anyway, kimchi fried rice is nice as a carb to fill you up. The Teokkgalbi platter with vegetables was probably my favorite dish with short ribs and rice cakes and brussel sprouts all combining to create a subtly sweet, very savory, and great textured dish. But anyway, I'm not a food critic, this menu has a whole lot of deliciousness so pick everything you please. There's validation for 2 hours if you parked in the Ralphs parking lot (so this is helpful to know since street parking can be atrocious almost always).
