Idk if the kitchen staff were just having a bad day or what but the food wasn't good. We ordered quite a few things off the menu & the food was all bland, the seafood was overcooked & not to mention the service was also really slow when the restaurant wasn't even busy. We had to walk inside to find someone to help us get a refill on our drinks & place more orders. I gave two stars because the outdoor seating was aesthetically pleasing & although the service wasn't up to par, we had privacy to talk amongst the table & have good conversation w/ drinks

Honestly was a bit surprised by the taste of the food! I didn't have high expectations for a pocha style restaurant but the mentaiko pasta, Korean fried chicken wings and truffle fries were all super flavorful. The pasta was Al dente and the chicken wings and fries were crispy. The only thing that we weren't fond of was the rose pasta. The rose pasta tasted like a regular marinara sauce pasta, not creamy enough and tasted too tomatoey. The food tasted hot and fresh. Parking is valet and I believe it was $3. Service was fast and they have happy hour deals on oysters! We were seated outside and there were heat lamps to keep us warm. Would definitely come back again!

This place is pretty good for late night snack and drinks. Variety of food and taste decent. Portions are kinda small but the price is decent. You get what you pay for. I always go for fried wings or Korean style whole chicken. Their tteokbokki is a bit sweet but that's how tteokbokki supposed to be. Their pastas are pretty good as well. Service is prompt and good. A Typical Korean drinking place tbh - Casual ambiance and not too loud music. They do last call about an hour before the closing hour so be aware.

Maybe they're better for drink. Nice staff and a pleasant layout, Kitchen Sooda is where basic recipes go to die. Shrimp Tacos - there's better tacos everywhere in LA but they put it on the menu. Bland / missed opportunity to earn that fusion title. Cabanara - flavorful but definitely not cabanara Korean Style Spicy Chicken - seasoned and tossed in some gochucjang ‍. Honestly I ordered this because I saw it online so much but wrapping cheers around chicken paired with tater tots is a miss for me

this restraunt sucks they have a specific schuelde on their hours and it's a saturday night and it's barely 12 and they state the kitchen is closed. BAD SERVICE. LIES. made us park and for this bad experience do not come here!!!

HH oysters?? Yes please! Kitchen Sooda has literally everything from fresh oysters, cajun style seafood boils, pastas, chickens, to Korean bar food What I've tried here so far: - Elote - Clam soup - Jambalaya pasta - Korean style chicken wings - Oysters on the half shell - Mentaiko (pollock roe) pasta - Cheese buldak (spicy chicken) - Cajun style seafood boil - Spicy stir fry baby octopus and pork belly w/ rice Every dish is so full of flavor and the place is perfect for weekend night outs. They have both indoor and outdoor seating which is a plus and they also do a fine job packing these for delivery.

This place accepts reservations, which was cool since we were unsure whether it would be busy on a Friday night. Since they have outdoor seating, it felt relatively safe eating in person. The food was pretty good, but we had problems with our digestion (wasn't quite sure which dish((es?) caused it). The menu selection is very random, but it could be good for situations when people in the same group want to eat separate things. The quality and taste of the strange variety of food was not disappointing. My group and I really liked the mentaiko pasta out of everything we ordered and would totally recommend it if you don't know what to order. Their soy garlic chicken was also tasty but it is on the sweeter side, so maybe ordering it with fries or another savory dish would give your meal a better balance. We also tried their cheese buldak and the squid/pork belly dish. I would get everything again except the squid/pork belly just because it's a dish that has pretty basic flavors and is easily accessible to Korean households. Maybe it was this dish that caused our stomach problems... But, the food came out really fast, which was a big plus since we were very hungry. One thing that keeps me from going back is the stomach problems we had after, other than that, maybe we'll give it another try!

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.

It was perfectly pleasant, though be warned: foot traffic passes just a few feet away. Think tuxedo at a pool party: definitely overdressed. But it was delicious, and I'd order it again--just with light dressing. The fish sandwich was fine, nothing more. Parking is brutal in the area so expect to be circling around for a bit. They have a late happy hour which are half off oysters which is nice! We tried a set of raw oysters - rockefeller, small but might in flavor and meatiness. Shucking was done well too. Grilled octopus - pricey for the amount you get, but cooked well. Accompaniments like potatoes were OK, but could have more mushroom. Shell pasta - the pasta was homemade cause it tasted so light. I think the sauce was a little too light for me as well, but overall still a solid dish. Cioppino - Also a little lighter in flavor and I think just smaller in size in comparison to price. Seafood is fresh though, and that's clear in every dish here. Lonely Louie - the star of the night. I loved how fresh and bright this was. Everything mixed so well together and would definitely be getting this again. Atlantic Pie - their version of a key lime pie and was a tangy, nice finisher to the meal.

While the shrimp itself tasted sweet, the scallop didn't taste like anything. The overall dish felt one-dimensional for the price. Ceviche de Rockot (Rockfish): More reasonable portion. Snappy texture. For a mild, sweet fish, this could have been a great canvas for creative flavors. Instead it's just lime-y like the prior dishes. While each dish looked aesthetic, they shared the same acidic flavor profile. I found myself wishing for more creativity and variety in the sauces and seasonings. The seafood quality also needs to be more consistent, especially when serving premium ingredients. Service: Order and pay at the counter, grab a table number, and the staff brings the food out. It's basically two shish-kebab style sticks of seasoned swordfish, peppers, and tomatoes, and it's served with a few sides in addition to fried veggies and shrimp. I also really enjoy their tacos. They also have very generous servings of poke (I personally don't get the poke from here because it's already mixed in with raw onions and I don't like raw onion). Definitely suited our sensibilities to be close to the heart of this treasure, plus it can get cold out there! When our friendly and helpful server learned that we'd never been to FwD before, we were both treated a tasty amuse, a Peruvian scallop, one of their specialties. Served chilled, absolute heaven. Simple, fresh, delicious, and very pretty atop its shell. We ordered an appetizer, a different scallop dish, Pan Seared Diver Scallops. (Parsnip-potato puree, brown butter ponzu, capers). So good. Succulent, perfectly cooked and devilishly satisfying with its rich, savory flavor. We enjoyed the one dish that have been on their menu since the beginning, Koshihikari Rice. (short-grain Japanese rice, overnight chicken dashi, shrimp, uni, blue crab, cage-free egg yolk.) Wow. So much happening here, and yet it's a complete package. All the ingredients meld together sumptuously. It akin to Paella, or perhaps to a stuffed Risotto, although the Koshihikari Rice was very much its own dish. The server swerved and mixed the egg yolk on our plate, and we loved it. Our strategy to try a number of dishes and yet still have room for dessert worked. Many great choices, and I doubt we'd be disappointed with anything. However, we had heard from the table next to use that the key-lime pie was must. Happily, they were right. This Key Lime Pie is just sweet and just tart enough. Though I am not Key Lime Pie expert, this one struck me as imaginative with its meringue colony crowding the pie's surface for additional dessert debauchery. There nothing overwhelmingly citrusy about it, and it was light enough to help you feel satisfied and just right. The coffee was good, too. This is a low-key yet lovely dining experience in Manhattan Beach.
