James Chung is the kind of painter you tolerate to do a paint job fast and relatively cheap, however you would be sacrificing details and good communication. He was difficult to communicate with and overall very reluctant to help with anything beyond painting, such as removing smoke detectors and patch up the hole to paint the area. The paint job looked good upon first glance but because he freehanded the project and didn't tape out sections that should be left unpainted, there were paint droplets left all over the various surfaces of my place. He also completely forgot to paint the back of the closet doors, and did not respond to my texts and emails asking for them to be completed. If you don't care about having perfect quality, he'd be the person to go to, but otherwise find someone who is more meticulous. read more

Updating my review to reflect that, after some time living in our condo, we noticed some less obvious but important inconsistencies with the paint job. For example, a few door frames were painted the wall color, as shown in the attached image. I texted James to see if he could fix this and, unfortunately, he read my text but never responded. I hired James to paint a bedroom that was ruined as a result of a water leak. I also asked him to touch-up patches that were made from a subsequent repiping of my house and replace baseboards. His price quote was average compared to others I received, but I was impressed with his follow-through; he came to the premises twice to take a look and even tested the leftover paint that the previous homeowners left in the garage.
