I haven't eaten at Church's Chicken for decades but saw this one on my way to therapy so decided to stop. They have a nice value meal for $6 right now with chicken strips and two sides. I love fried okra so enjoyed that as my side with some buttered corn. The spicy chicken strips were very good with just the amount of spice for my taste and the buttered corn reminded me of cream corn but looked like regular corn. The fried okra was very good and the star of the show. The portion was large, too. The nice gentlemen that took our order and delivered our food was very nice as well. Two days ago my husband and I went through the drive-Thru at our local Church's Chicken and had the most amazing experience we have had in a very long time anywhere! We ordered 1 order of jalapeno bombers, 1 apple pie, and 1 biscuit. When we reached the window they said they needed 2 minutes for the pie. As we pulled around to wait for our food, the employee at the window handed my husband an extra large cup and said to come in and fill it with whatever he wanted for free. I opened my bag that I thought had one hot biscuit in it and found THREE! I went in and asked if it was a mistake and was told no that they gave us extra on purpose. When my husband looked at his jalapeno bombers there were double the amount he ordered and when they came to bring me my apple pie there were TWO in the bag! I've never had this good of treatment at any restaurant, let alone a fast food one. I will absolutely go back there and tell everyone I know to go there also!!! read more

Long awaited Churches Texas Chicken (formerly known as Churches Fried Chicken) is open in Bremerton. I had heard there were long lines, but there was no line on the day I showed up. I went through the drive-through. It was efficient. Super fast. The folks that I could see through the window looked like they had been working hard, so I must have just missed a lunch rush, maybe. I got the Texas family meal to take home for the family. It was cheaper than its competitor, which is about 3 or 4 blocks away. However, we tried everything in the box, bone in legs and thighs, tenders, slaw, potatoes, mac and cheese, and bread. None of it was the quality of all that we remembered about Churches Fried Chicken all those years ago when it was delicious. Was my favorite 35 or 40 years ago. Everything changes, but do great recipes have to be messed with. I'm giving the restaurant a few months before I venture there again. Always about at least one more chance. Holding out hope the food quality and flavors will be right soon. I mean most people who eat meat like chicken but only hot and tasty fried chicken if they are into fried chicken. Always Nice to get a New Classic Chicken Spot in our little Town of Bremerton ! Known as Church's Fried Chicken in my Missouri upbringing, this newly Opened franchise is a welcome edition to our Area. So far my visits have been very good. They do get busy from time to time but all seems to be handled fairly well for being a newly opened business. 4 or 5 stars so far..... The 5 Star right now just because it's the only one within 40 miles or so..... lol The Original Chicken is just as I remembered (Delicious) as well as Krinkle Cut fries are a welcome Change from the normal Chicken spots potato choices. Okra, Corn on the Cob, Mashed potatoes and gravy are all better than most sides and other spots. They have delicious honey butter biscuits and now a Jalapeño Biscuit. Coke products as well as Sweet Tea and Lemonade (Even a to-go container of these available to take home for your own fridge. All in all a great spot to wet your whistle for some fast food chicken. Price is way too expensive for the service to be this bad quality was absolutely horrible. Will never be going to this place again. The KFC was way better than this place will ever be feathers in the chicken. Random brown chunks in the Mac that completely mushy with the same texture as baby food absolutely 100% would never recommend this place to anybody do not come here. Hopefully we can get a different restaurant here soon to replace this one. read more

Got there 15 minutes before the 5pm shift change and waited almost 40 minutes because they ran out of chicken. It was also overcooked when I finally got it. The guy taking orders at the counter wiped his nose on his wrist and arms multiple times and handled the inside of drink cups as he gave them to people. I went to churches yesterday evening. I was instantly greeted by Ashley. I ordered my food and when I received it, it was juicy and Hot, when I took a bite.I really really enjoyed it and it was excellent. It reminded me of my childhood back home. Okay, I saw some rough reviews, had to stop in and see what's going on. Went through the drive thru about 10:45 am, had to have been shortly after open. Ordered 5 pc Spicy chicken with fries and a drink. Requested BBQ and ranch. Got to the window, greeted politely, and received my order. Took a peak around through the window wondering what the kitchen was looking like while I was waiting, looked actually pretty clean and organized with gloves on the associates I saw. I was prepared (and not negatively hoping for) a potential mishap, but I was -optimistic-because that's what new establishments deserve. I received my spicy chicken, fries, two sauce packets, a DC and my biscuit. Perfect! The food quality while only having church's twice, was as I expected, good enough for me and enticing because this chain is different from what's available in this area. 1) DIPPING SAUCE 50c each-Ordered 3 and 5 piece tenders multiple times and EVERY SINGLE TIME they forgot to put the sauce. The sauce is listed in the receipt but NOT the ticket so of course theyre not putting it in there. The cashiers not the packager so its assumed everythings in the bag when they give it to you. 1a) Dipping sauce is McDonalds sauce size so its not even close to enough sauce for 3 piece tenders. Let alone ONE sauce packet for 5 piece tenders. I would expect a much larger packet or 2 for 3 pieces and 3 for 5 pieces. 2) Chicken Sandwich - sucks. Limp and soft, not crunchy and moist. 3) Corn - sucks. bland kernels basted with even blander butter. Boiled Costco corn without butter is light years ahead of their corn. 4) mac n cheese - acceptable. 5) okra - not a fan of okra but it was acceptable to me. 6) apple pie - good 7) frosted honey butter biscuit- good 8) honey butter biscuit - good 9) fries - acceptable 10) Poor drive through layout-they need to block off the entrance from the street because now you have mexican stand-offs with people trying to be polite and getting in line out of the way of traffic and the guys trying to cut in line straight from the main road. read more

First time we went here I really liked it so I convinced my wife to go back again. My wife waited for over 45 minutes to get the food. She went through the drive through and was asked to pull around and they'd be out in 5-7 minutes. 20 minutes later she ended up going in and not being acknowledged by the staff. Finally she got the food and they forgot the drinks and items and she was so frustrated she left. We usually go to Popeyes which we love and will continue to go there. We deserve a refund since items were missing but won't be worth the hassle to deal with them any more. As far as the food goes. Chicken - old and also was cooked in old grease. They even threw in some fried okra for me to try which was a great snack on my way home. I have to put a one because I can't put any lower on the stars. I'm so disappointed because every time we have gone we have had less than stellar service with less than stellar food. It makes me sad because I'm from Texas and in Texas this particular restaurant would have gone under after the first month. This time I sat in line for 20 minutes to get five-piece chicken tenders and only wound up with three and a half. Super disappointing. I knew this place was new and had heard good things about the chain so I planned to stop by while in E. Brem today. I ordered 3 tenders and 2 sauces. The tenders were so little, two the size of a chicken nugget somewhere else, no seasoning... (I guess bad on me for not ordering spicy). And no sauces. Super disappointed, I couldn't believe I paid 8$ for the equivalent of 5 chicken nuggets. This place opened up down the street not too long ago and decided to try it out... HORRIBLE. We decided to get the chicken strips and fries since they were out of bone-in chicken for a few hours and the strips tasted like you microwaved a Tyson chicken strip that has been left in the freezer for a little too long. The breading was rubbery like it was left out too long, the chicken was tough, and there was no flavor! The fries were the same! They tasted like nothing and they were rubbery and not crunchy at all. I'm starting to think Church's idea of "bold Texas flavor" is a dash of salt and one, tiny fleck of pepper. The cherry on top of all this was them forgetting our sauces even after one of the workers "checked our receipt" to make sure everything was in the bag. read more

I just purchased original 3 wings & a bisquit through the drive through. I parked my car in parking lot afterwards because I was very hungry. Opened my box took a bite out of one of the wings & my mouth was on fire. I went through drive through again and told them I did not order the spicy chicken. They gave me another box of chicken. I parked again took a bite of chicken and unfortunately was disappointed . The chicken coating was very dry & tasted old. When I bit into it, it was a hard crunch like I was chewing on pebbles and no salt was in the coating. Very bland. The meat tasted old and dry. You know I grew up in Texas and back then Churches Chicken never let me down. I was excited when I saw there was one opening in Bremerton Finally came and it was such a letdown it made me sad. I don't understand the high standard that has always been with Churches is not at this restaurant. I don't understand how so much money was put into the opening of this restaurant and the chicken was not up to par. The owners better make an effort to make a quality product or you are going to turn into that other chicken place a few blocks away. I will give it another chance in a month or so. The girl at the drive through was very nice & so was the person who gave me the second order of chicken. But no napkins in my bag. Again you are new workers. Please pay attention to detail which is an expectation and is very important. So I hope you will take my advice to make an effort to strive forward and make this place what it should be.
