One word: OUTSTANDING! My son and I tried this place for their Rodezio based upon numerous recommendations, and it was excellent. Quaint little restaurant where the owner takes pride in everything being served; the service was great. While dinner was way above-average, it was actually the dessert that truly impressed me. There were 2 types of cake available for dessert, coconut and chocolate, both made by the owner's wife. I ended up sharing a slice of chocolate cake ($8) with my son. I can honestly say this was the best piece of chocolate cake I've ever had....I would have paid double the price for the cake. The waiters told me the coconut cake is even better. If it's possible to save room for dessert, definitely do so! I'll be back in the near term with a larger group of friends / family! read more

I brought my husband here for his birthday last weekend.... We usually go down to Newark, but he wanted to try this place as it is much closer to us. I visited the website and saw that they encouraged making a reservation. It was easy to make a reservation, and I was able to request a birthday dessert for our dinner. We were seated right away when we arrived. The ambiance is beautiful. My husband and I both ordered rodizio. I felt as though the service was a bit slow. We probably sat for close to fifteen minutes before anything was brought to our table. However, once the rodizio started, everything was very quick. After dinner was cleared, again it seemed like we had to wait for an unusually long period of time before our dessert was brought out. Let's get the obvious out of the way. This is not on par with the jersey city Portuguese restaurants. Not even close. With the Covid restrictions in place we ate outdoors. Pleasant surroundings. The staff appeared to be well staffed for the number of tables that were active with customers but they were either working on half mode or just not moving with any sense of pace. We ordered the meat and the waiter came by every 10 minutes or slower. Sides were cold and tasteless especially the Yuka and fried corn meal. Rice and beans Offcourse were terribly small for the 4 people and cold when served. Ok so we're sitting outside so I didn't make a deal hoping that the meat would be better. The meat was frankly poor. Aside for the signature dish everything else was either overcooked or full of fat. The short ribs that they served couldn't be chewed through and I have all of my teeth and was given a sharp knife. Look, if you've never been to a proper Portuguese Churrascaria and grew up in Hackettstown then I suppose this is a great restaurant. However I've eaten at plenty of Portuguese restaurants and know that this is not worth comparing. I don't get the positive reviews. read more

There is no need to drive to Newark. This place has done it, and done it right. The service is excellence, the owners are wonderful and the food is even better. But, dont expect to just walk in and be seated. Reservations on a weekend are a must! My husband and I had supper here this past Saturday night, July 27, 2019. The food was good, service a tad slow at times but I felt it gave us time to digest our food before the next round was served. Servers were polite and friendly. The menu stated: No doggie bags and No sharing. Now I understand this if you had a plate packed of food wanting to take it home. However, we had bones without meat on them we wanted to take home to the dog and a small amount of "potato chips" left over. These chips are thinly sliced potatoes lightly fried. We asked anyway to take them home and were told No. Since we paid for this food, why couldn't we take it home? The leftover potatoes would have been great for breakfast with eggs and the dog would have loved those bones. Meanwhile a different table walked out with a brown bag...hmmmm. What does the restaurant do with guest leftovers? Throw them out as you can't donate it I would presume. So why not allow guests to bring home what is left? Would someone at the restaurant clarify this for me? read more

Dined here on a Friday evening. Really nice atmosphere. The staff is very nice and service is quick. We had Camaro a Guilho (shrimp in garlic sauce) ($12) for appetizer and the Rodizio ($31) for our entree. Lets just say it was a good portion of shrimp and a lot of good meat during entree. The being portion different kinda of meat (on a skewer) out gradually while you are dining. Great selection that are well cooked. The dish as an ample portion of rice, beans, greens and some other stuff. Great meal! Two people with cappuccinos and desert also ~ $100. It is also BYOB. BYOB establishment. No spirits for sale. First off, is there any such thing as bad rodizio? If so, consider me lucky. I would give this place a solid 3/5. They try very hard, and have really brought a niche niche to the area; however their execution is a little lacking. For starters, we had to ask our server for sharp knives; the ones we were given could not cut. Don't waste your time on the chicken legs or chicken sausage, likewise with the short ribs and spareribs; the latter are pretty tough and are not cooked long enough to really be prepared properly. At the other end of things, the filet wrapped in bacon is horribly overcooked so as to be rendered like shoeleather. So much for the negatives. Their "signature sirloin" is fantastic. Something so simple - after they slice off the outer part, it goes back to the kitchen to be re-salted and roasted. This guarantees that everyone gets an end-cut. Nice touch! The parmesan-crusted pork loin is another solid cut of meat; nice and juicy with great flavor! The skirt steak was evidently cooked at too low of a temperature, since the outside was not caramelized at all and the inside was already over-cooked. Overall the selection is good. However I would rather see less of a selection executed well than this many meats cooked incorrectly. The staff was attentive and helpful; you just can't fake that. I would probably go back, but for $50 per person without drinks and after tip I would be a lot more selective about the meats that I choose. read more

We we excited to try this place out and were terribly disappointed! Two of us ordered the Rodozio, DON'T DO IT! for $40+ per person. Yuck. I think they want you to fill up on bread, bland white rice, oh and homemade potato chips for dinner? tasteless black beans, deep fried bananas, yucca & polenta? Mystery deep fried shit. An hour+ later we finally got some rodizio at least the sausage & well done pork cubes arrived! I concur with Amy: Signature steak was raw when we finally got it! and I'm a fan of medium rare! This was inedible. Beef short rib was gristle filled, tough, unedible. Chicken drumstick was ok. Pork , you you like it very well done & dry! I understand why they wrap their filet mignon in bacon because that was the only juicy thing served with there once again well done filet minuscule beef cube So far only one steak item, which is disappointing. The flatiron steak was shoe leather. Two and a half hours of torture with extremely long wait times between courses. On the plus side the sangria was good. We will not be back! Even thou the owner/manager apologized with lots of excuses about his kitchen help. One would think a "steak house" would know how to cook a steak!!! Certainly not here. This was our second visit I seriously had to be convinced to come back. The first experience was awful at best. But moving on to this experience which was much better when we first got there it appeared that it might not be it was taking forever for us to get the sides which is apparently once you tell them you want the Rodizio they cook the sides for you and once you get your sides on your table then the server can start bringing meat to you. The server that we had Louis was wonderful. As he was rushing around serving all the meat to the other tables he stopped by and said he was going to go see what was taking so long for us to get any food. Once we got our side dishes he was quick to start bringing the meat. He explained what everything was and he was pleasant and when we asked for a particular thing he went back and made sure it was getting cooked and brought it out to us he couldn't have been nicer. He is a hustler he just was busy and only over the place. He is an asset to the restaurant for sure. This place is a hidden gem of the area. I had no idea it was there and now I rave about it to everyone I know. If it is your first time going you have to get the Rodizio. 14+ courses of different meats all of which have unique flavors. The sides are served family style and are fantastic as well. The owner is very friendly and checks in on you every step of the way. Service was great, water and sides were replenished throughout the entire dinner which lasted about 3 hours. Made reservations easily for this place the day before a Friday night dinner. The website says they only seat reservation requests. Not sure how accurate that is but I wasn't gonna risk it. Atmosphere: Tucked away. Very quaint and romantic vibe. Fancy table cloth, etc. spacious. Food: Rodizio for very inexpensive price! $40. Also came with a bunch of sides. However, to be honest, all of the meats other than the chicken sausage were just okay and not that memorable. The chicken sausage however was delicious and bursting with flavor. Who knew that that would be the best meat, right? The potato chips were also really delicious and addicting. The beans were just plain black beans, like straight out the can. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ wait for the meat, don't fill up on the sides! Service: Service is great when it comes to reservations. We ended up being in town a little early and they had no problem accommodating us early after we called and gave them the heads up. However, service at the restaurant was lacking. It took forever to get us a drink menu (aka I asked and the waiter walked around for 10 minutes doing other things and I watched in annoyance). Once we ordered the rodizio, it took another 20 minutes for any food to get to us (but, the meat is all ready on sticks tho). Lastly, the server dropped off our sides and was like "last thing is the collared greens! I'll be right back." Spoiler alert, we never got them and the waiter never noticed we didn't have them after coming to check on us about once during the entire dinner. We didn't bother asking since we were too full with everything else, but I have to complain in principle about the forgetfulness and neglect of the staff here. It wasn't even that busy. We go here at least once a month. The owners are the nicest people we ever met. My hubby usually does the Rodizo which had 12 different meats and I usually just get the signature cut (picanha). I like that I can just get the picanha only without getting the entire Rodizo. Ask to have garlic and parmesan on it and it's perfect! For starter, they give you bread and pickled veggies (Giardiniera). You get potato chips, fried Yuca, fried Plantains, rice, kale, black bean and Pico de Gallo as part of the grill meal. We had to get up to ask for drinks, we had to ask for each kind of meat promised on the menu & had long waits in between. qhen they finally brought the requested meats they were always over cooked & over salted. Delicious! I dined with three friends on Saturday 21 July. We had a reservation, and got one of the 6 tables right away. There are also seats at a marble topped bar. The atmosphere is friendly, though we did have to ask for things like ice and bottle openers. We all got the rodizio, and once the meat started coming, it didn't stop until we said we were completely satisfied! We will definitely come again. I'm not sure there's anything I would change about this place. But one thing for sure is that it's certainly the last thing you'd expect to find in the middle of Hackettstown, NJ. My date was rather skeptical upon my suggesting this place, but after assuring him that there would be plenty of meat, he obliged. And plenty of meat, there was. Admittedly, it was my first time having Brazilian BBQ, but good food is good food, and good service is good service - and both were outstanding. Here's how our meal went: First of all, apparently it's nearly impossible to get reservations on a Friday or Saturday night. Lucky for us, we went on a Sunday - but definitely call ahead of time. BYOB - Brought a bottle of Pinot Noir. Next time, we're bringing two. This is an all night adventure - not the type of place you go to spend an hour. It's meant to be slow, steady and enjoyed. If you're in a time crunch, go somewhere else. Appetizer - we ordered one of the specials - fresh mozzarella over buffalo tomatoes with pesto and prosciutto. Delicious. They also bring fresh, warm, homemade bread out to the table. Here's a tip: If you're ordering the Rodizio, DO NOT EAT THE BREAD. Trust me. And thank me later. Rodizio - We must've tried 12+ different types of meat, all delicious. And even though it was all you can eat, we couldn't get past the first try of each. Our favorites were the provolone stuffed steak, the "signature" parmesan steak and the parmesan crusted pork loin. This is also served with a pico de gallo type salsa with homemade chips, fried yuca, fried plantains, white rice and black beans. It also includes grilled pineapple for dessert with a brown sugar/cinnamon crust. Make sure you ask for it, even if you don't have room left. And just when we though it couldn't get any better... Dessert - On top of the grilled pineapple, the server convinced us to try the homemade coconut cake. And... drool. I don't even like coconut, but this was light, fluffy and perfectly sweet. It has a pineapple layer in the center and it's topped with real shaved coconut. It was amazing. All in all: Definitely go. Menu is extensive, even if you don't want to order the Rodizio. These harsh reviews are unfair. I've been there 2x since it reopened. The first time, yes, we waited and waited and waited. However - the owner/manager, being a smart man, kept buying our entire party drinks until we were seated. Even then, he bought us a few more for waiting so long. So, we waited a long time for food, but that's a classy (and appreciated) move. The second time I went, things proceeded smoothly - that was a 5 star experience. I love the steak, I don't go for the Rodizio... I see complaints about it and I think, in fairness, maybe the owner is trying to control his costs a bit - who knows. A great new treasure in Hackettstown! We were warmly welcomed by the owner upon arrival at about 6pm Saturday. There was seating available, but there are only about 10 tables -- it seems they take reservations and they were full by 6:45. My wife and I both opted for the BBQ. She got the pork skewers and I got the Rodizio - "a style of restaurant service in Brazilian Restaurants. One pays a fixed price and the waiters bring an offering of food to each customer at several times throughout the meal, until the customers signify that they had enough." The pork was delicious. The Rodizio was stellar - it is a great way to sample all of their meats and all were quite tasty, my favorite being the bacon wrapped turkey. The side dishes were served family style - rice, beans, fried plantains, French fries, fried yucca, collard greens, yucca flour. All were prepared very well. My 5 yr old had enough to eat just picking from us. Only concern - service was a bit slow, but I suspect that is a result of being fairly new, and us being seated before the rush. Once they had everything fired up on the BBQ, it was a constant stream of meat. Not enough of a reason to keep me away from this gem. BYOB. read more

Birthday Reservations for 6 people at 6pm made 2 days in advance. We arrive at 6pm and are promptly seated inside. The waiter was friendly but clueless. No welcome, no thanks for coming in, nno have you been to a Brazilian Steakhouse before, no explaining the unique dining experience. Just a quick round of waters and drinks. Apparently even "no-ice" is too challenging of a concept. And there were sat for the next 55 minutes having ordered but no food delivered. No bread. Nothing for an hour! Finally, after 7:10pm a new table is seated adjacent to its and is immediately given a bread basket. We got up and left and took our business to Fijiyamma across town where the owner and his wife warmly welcome us. Saved our birthday celebration.
