Tex-Mex Burrito Bowl in a Tortilla

Yum! Chuy's always hits the spot. From the salsa and jalepeno ranch to the entrees, the amazing flavors are always there. Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is always welcoming and nostalgic.

Enjoyed dinner with the family a few nights ago! What a great experience. Our server was fantastic! We sat in a cool room with an old car theme. There were hub caps covering the ceiling and old car photos along the walls. The food was exceptional! Great Tex Mex! Still one of my favorite Tex Mex restaurants in Austin. I had a cheese enchilada and a beef taco plate with rice and beans. Words can't describe how good it was. My wife had the flautas which she said were great! My brother had the beef fajitas! We'll be back for sure!

A little get together with friends for lunch. Service was slow, but otherwise excellent. Typical Tex-Mex vibes inside, but the random coconut trees in the middle give it something different. Creamy Jalapeño ranch dip for your chips is where it's at here!

Lively spot for a Friday night, they have outdoor heaters but was too windy. On a fall day it would be nice. Authentic Mexican vibe for a tex mex spot I feel. Food portions are high quality as it was a cheesy enchilada. Jalapeño ranch dipping sauce and fresh salsa to start was great too. Service was good as they didn't keep asking about an update and how we're doing to rush an order and flip a table.

My boyfriend and I decided to give this Chuy's location a try since it was closer to where we were at instead of our usual spot, and overall, it was a decent experience with a few highs and lows. Let's start with the positives: the jalapeño cream sauce was absolutely amazing, and the queso was a solid hit too! Honestly, the dips alone were worth the trip. The atmosphere was lively and fun--exactly what you expect from Chuy's--with that quirky, Austin vibe. The place was packed, but we were seated quickly, and our waitress was incredible. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. Now for the food. I ordered the Boom Boom Chicken Enchilada, and while the sauce was flavorful and the beans and rice were on point, the chicken itself was disappointingly dry. My boyfriend had the Elvis Platter, but we both agreed it lacked that bold Tex-Mex punch we were hoping for--it was a bit bland compared to what we're used to from Chuy's. That said, the meal was very affordable, and given the great service and overall vibe, I'd be willing to give this location another shot. Maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen, but I'm hopeful next time will live up to the Chuy's reputation.

I came back here again for a work lunch a few weeks back, and had another solid experience! We were able to get seated very quickly which was nice. And the food was solid! The chicken fajitas with flour were definitely good. And our server Emily crushed it. Well done Chuy's team! It was a successful visit. We will be back.

    Tex-Mex Burrito Bowl - Vegetarian

Decided to try out this classic Austin restaurant with a local, and absolutely enjoyed the food and vibe at this location. As a vegetarian though, it was a slight struggle to find something to eat with a fairly limited vegetarian friendly menu! We ordered Guacamole and Queso in appetizers, and their Queso was really delicious. Very flavorful and went really well with those Tostada chips! I got the Tex-Mex Burrito Bowl without any protein, and the portion size was large enough to fill me up. The House Salsa was tasty, and so was my overall dish. Service was quick and food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. It was a Saturday afternoon, and noise levels were slightly on the louder side at around 2 pm. A definite must try if you like Mexican food!

It's very annoying that you can't order an entree w/o beans & rice It's a simple process to sub a salad for beans & rice on the phone or in person and should be just as easy to do this online

Chips. Ranch? Salsa ok. Prefer the Salsa hotter

Once we got there, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and really made the experience feel special and relaxing. There are lovely waterfall/pond features. There was surprisingly a lot of choices to sit: picnic tables, tables for two etc. There are plenty was water stations and cups are provided. We enjoyed food from DeeDee's, which was delicious, and the horchata drink was especially good that we grabbed from inside the main building. I got the tofu stir fry. It was a decent amount of food and the right amount of spice. There was enough food to fill a hungry belly and just enough to leave some to have leftovers. The horchata drink filled us up so my friend and I both had leftovers! I'd like to come back early morning and enjoy a book and some coffee. I hope there's not a crowd midweek. I know the weekends can be crowded. ****So, I'm back. It's less than 24 hours later and here I am. ;) It's my goal each day to do at least 30 minutes of reading. I grabbed an espresso and a muffin. It was just over $10 for my treats FYI. I don't often come out for breakfast so I don't know if that's high or low. The inside space looked like a public office space. Each table had a person hooked up to their computer click-clacking away. It's a much different vibe than the trivia night last night. If you want an inside work space, I suggest you get there early. I grabbed an Adirondack chair near the water to enjoy my morning ritual. The space is filled with a diverse group of people: friends having coffee, families with young kids, and the business folks. I almost regret my muffin as I'm seeing many Veracruz tacos going by and they look delicious. I'm also seeing many folks coming in to grab tacos to go. Lucky me to live right down the road from this beautiful space. Perhaps next time I'll walk down with my book and get my 30 minutes of cardio done at the same time! ;)

The food trucks that night were limited, but the Mediterranean food truck was good! Nice falafel, a solid chicken shawarma salad, and hand dipped onion rings and mozzarella sticks that the kiddos definitely enjoyed. This entire place feels like a cash grab following the mezcal trend. It's positioned as being a tequila/mezcal spot but their drinks are more basic than cocktails I can order at the airport. When I asked questions about the mezcal they use and offer the bartenders replies were always dealt with either annoyance and limited info or just an "I don't know." Plus it's $$$ you tip on top of the tip they already add but say nothing about? The basic cocktails that are known as Mexican street vendor drinks (not supposed to be $$$) can cost you over $20 alone! Then to be shady about tipping ... cash grab without a good experience. The there's the atmosphere... very limited parking shared with MANY other more busy bars, super loud inside because of no soft surfaces, and the worst part of all... the bench seats are built just tall enough that unless you're super tall, you'll have to sit at the edge of the bench and actively practice good posture. This more than the other things makes me want to leave immediately. You designed a bar to be pretty but in no way functional to its use. It's been a while since my last visit and honestly I chalked all this up to Austin's trend chasing entrepreneurs typical disconnected launch until I had AMAZING cocktails at another new spot that truly impressed with their same priced cocktails that were far far more intricate and creative PLUS they didn't try to con me out of more tip AND their space was warm, and inviting with truly exceptional customer service. That experience reminded me that inflation isn't the only thing making life more expensive ... it's also businesses delivering far less value than promised and demanding we are supremely grateful for their limited effort. If you don't want to leave the neighborhood but you still want a somewhat decent margarita .... it ain't here. Pay half the price at Bodhi's in the same parking lot.
