I was recommended to try this place out again after it changed its name from Casa Arandinas to Hacienda Arandinas with the new management. I got to say I was impressed. The rustic repurposed barrels as chairs add a very worn in tavern type of feel. Hard to believe that this once our go to place for Mexican food in this part of Austin. It used to be great with great food and packed on Fridays. I don't know why this restaurant has been sliding down and down in quality!? The food is now tasteless and not worth the visit and the atmosphere and liveliness gone. Wife and I love this place and I apologize for not reviewing it previously; however, today they far exceeded my expectations. Wife is now vegetarian so she ordered herself the vegetarian enchiladas. 10/10! I have been on a low-carb diet and ordered myself a Fajita Plate from their lunch specials. I asked the waitress to leave out the rice, beans and tortillas. She suggested replacing them with a salad. The fajita meat was delicious as always, the salad was topped with an avocado. I see some bad reviews here and I have no idea how. Today is July 11,2025 and just had the best margarita of my life and the tastiest fajita lunch special. Their meat was tender and very well seasoned. Most chicken fajitas are dry and no flavor, this was the opposite. And the beef tasted like a very good steak with butter and seasoning. I really enjoy the eccentric Mexican furniture and decor. My lunch plate looked fresh and tasted good. It had warm flavor and filled me up nicely. Very disappointing. I ordered for pick up. The migas were just scrambled eggs and salsa, no chips, no flavor, too much cheese, AND the price on the website was different from what I was charged ($6.99 vs $9.99). The tortillas were like store bought, cold and tasteless, the potatoes were obviously old and cold. Old potatoes take on a hard, starchy feel and taste. For an order with one taco and an order of migas we got 1-just 1 hot sauce. We needed more for this tasteless food. This place is so close to where I live; it's sad I won't be going back. read more

I mean.... place was not handling Covid very well. They passed out hard copy menus?!?! I know all venues did away with these with regards to germs. Every table was used?!!?!? The salt & pepper shakers were back?!?!?) I was constantly using my hand sanitizer because I was nervous. The food was great. However I asked for charro beans and received refried beans. Asked for the original order and it took 29 min. We ordered several Mexican martinis and margaritas and because it was so packed, it took a long time but the waitress comp'd 1 round. We appreciated that. Even though it was a crazy night, we still gave her a 25% tip. We enjoyed the mariachis and the comedy show of drunk old ladies singing with them. It was a fun night. The food was terrible! The meat was so fatty that it wasn't edible. Mole wasn't home-made as they claimed it was. At least it didn't taste like it was. The portions are small. They don't honor discounts in which they advertise. They do underhanded business no wonder the food isn't good. No telling how their mikitchen is probably dirty! Service was EXCELLENT. Super attentive staff and very smiley even with masks on. But can somebody tell me why the the ranchero sauce on the Chile Relleno has a tinny, pizza sauce taste?? I have eaten at Hacienda Arandinas for the last couple of years, times with wife and times with children an get togethers, while the food was not really outstanding but OK. Today was the second time in three days to eat there and I must say the service is very slow and the food was horrible. Took a longer time, than was told, that it would be ready. They've lost their touch. Caldo was bland to begin with and my wife asked for her rice and was told it was in the Caldo and yet it was not! My nachos were hard...The meat was hard...The cheese was cold and they did not give the jalapeños but instead, put a small dollop of sour cream and even smaller dollop of guacamole. So sad to see a place, once so reputable, go down this road. I'll never go back I didn't want to even give it a 1 star rating but had to so I could submit my review. This place gets 0 stars from me. It's so close to home which is very convenient, however I'd rather go the distance. The queso tastes like they melted velveeta in a bowl, the rice was cold and the beans were funky. Stopped in for lunch and looking for something not too heavy. Very pleased to see some good looking salad options! You don't typically see that in a mexican restaurant. The spring mix was fresh which tells you I'm not only one buying salads, and the toppings were great, I chose chicken fajita as my protein but could have picked steak fajita or even shrimp. Service was pleasant and the food came out quickly to the table. They have live music Thursdays and Mariachis on Fridays. We will be back! Highly recommended! read more

I completely understand that the service industry is struggling due to the pandemic, as well as with a staff and supply shortage. I've been patient and understanding with this establishment, however, today was probably the last time. When I arrived I ended up waiting longer because they said they were packing my order. The wait seemed longer than a packing issue. When they finally brought my order, it had the wrong beverage so they swapped it. When I got home (approx 5 minutes away), some of the food was very cold, part of our order was incorrect, and we were missing several items, leaving one family member without a meal. I called the restaurant and told them and they apologized and asked if I could come back or if I preferred a discount next time. I said I couldn't come back and asked for a refund for the items they didn't give me. Only a refund for those items. They said they could not/ would not give me a refund as their system wouldn't allow it. That seems like pretty flawed customer service. read more

On Friday April 29th we were five ladies that spend over 180 dollars on food and margaritas. Once the mariachis started playing we were done eating and we sat there to finish our drinks. The bartender came and offered some churros for free.. once he brought them the owner came to the table and in a very rude way, hitting the table... in Spanish he asked us to leave because other costumers we're waiting.. when I looked around there were 5 empty tables and no one waiting to be seated... We were very upset because we had enough to drink and we didn't want to order more alcohol.. we paid for what was supposed to be free and walked out... I suggest that no one should go to that place because you are going to be kicked out by the owner if you take too long to eat or you don't want to order anymore drinks. The food was all very bland. The skirt steak was lacking any flavor. The rice and beans were bland. The flautas were soggy and mostly tortilla, hardly any meat. We got queso with our order, and no flavor whatsoever. We added 3 little cups of salsa to it to give it some kind of kick. Overall, not at all satisfying. I understand TexMex isn't authentic, but good TexMex has bold flavors usually to make up for it. This was a watered down version of an already watered down version of Mexican food. I came here about two years ago with my husband and enjoyed the food a lot. We decided to try it again last night and I don't know what has happened, but the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be. The enchiladas were overly salty and the rice was bland. My grandmother ordered the gorditas and couldn't finish them because they fell apart from all of the grease. Not sure if the chef or management changed, but this place is not good anymore. Hmmm. Things have definitely changed here in the last couple of months (early spring 2019), not just the name change, and not for the better, and it makes me sad to have to say so. We have also been coming here for years but the last visit was very disappointing (more so as we brought an out of town guest). The restaurant seemed understaffed and was unpleasantly dirty, with many cluttered tables when we arrived (self-seating) and a LOT of food and spills on the floor that were never cleaned up all the time we were there. It's true that the salsa selection provided with tostadas has been cut to two from the three previously offered. The margaritas and mai tai's no longer taste like they're made from the old recipes. Out of our three entrees ordered, one arrived wrong and two arrived COLD. The wrong order was replaced quickly and we sent the cold plates back for reheating but when they came back they were barely improved. This can be quite serious with chicken dishes, you know; I've contracted bad food poisoning before from chicken that was left out too long or improperly prepared. Saddest of all, the dishes no longer seem to be made with the same care and ingredients. We all agreed the mole sauce did not have its old zest and zing, the refried beans and rice were different, bland and less tasty, and the cheese inside the enchiladas was not what it had been, tasted plasticy. This was a very disappointing experience and it's hard to attribute it all to just an "off night." There has apparently been a management change or a kitchen change or a new direction taken in terms of ingredients and preparation. Even the printed menus are completely different (can't tell if the prices have changed significantly, but it's possible they have gone up). We used to really like Arandina's but now I'm not so sure we'd go back again unless it's just for happy hour and simple appetizers once in a while. Unhappy face. read more
