I sat at the bar and the bartender (who said his name was Joey) was obnoxious. He was overly attentive to the point that it ruined my entire dining experience. Also, I ordered the Ruby Red Rocks margarita and he made me the wrong one. I informed him of this and he said I ordered a "deep cut" and and he had to look up how to make it. When I got ready to pay I told him I wasn't going to pay for the first drink seeing how I didn't drink it and it wasn't what I ordered. Instead of simply agreeing he obnoxiously told me he was going to do me one better blah blah and not only not charge me for the drink but give me a discount. I didn't care about the discount I just wanted him to shut up. This is very disappointing seeing how I do like other Chuy's locations but this one isn't even worth dinning at. read more

This place continues to amaze me in the negative way. Always out of Dos Equis beer or at least the amber. Walked in to use the men's room today. Passed a manager on the way out. Huge puddle of water on the floor. No wet floor sign in front of it. No one came in to clean it up. Just out of curiosity, I checked before I left and situation is still as was. No wet floor sign. My experience at Chuy's wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The chips were warm, the salad spicy, and the jalapeño dip delicious. I ordered a meal that had a chapula, enchilada, and taco with beans and rice. I added a side of sour cream. The food took a while to come to the table, which was unusual since it wasn't busy at all and Mexican food typically comes out in a jiffy at other restaurants. The food was good, but it didn't taste any better than any other Mexican place I've been to, so I give it 3 stars. Nothing about my experience would make me choose Chuy's over anything else. Portions were good, prices were good ($22 for two people, no appetizer, no drinks). I'd return if a friend wanted to meet me there or something, but I probably wouldn't choose it again for any other reason. read more

My wife and I eat here every time we come to Chattanooga. It's by far my favorite restaurant. Love the chicken fajitas. I recently had the first bad experience from the restaurant. We were there yesterday and ordered chicken fajitas. Everything tasted fantastic except the refried beans, they were so salty that I couldn't eat them. I eat my fajitas with beans inside them, so I was disappointed that I had no beans that were edible. I spoke to the manager and he tested the beans and agreed the cook had over salted them. Then to my surprise not only did he apologize but he comped our entire meal for free. He said he hoped that we would try them again, which I totally intend to do. I've always had a good experience at Chuys until this time. I ordered my food and when I started eating it I found 3 small hairs and one long hair in my food. When I told the waitress he took it from me and remade my food but that's all he did. No manager came to talk to me or apologize the server did not care at all. They even charged me for the meal and I packed it up to go myself. I MIGHT eat it later probably not. So I wasted $15 on a meal today. And my sister got a Togo container for her soup and it was greasy on the inside. Nasty. I will not return to this location. read more

First Time Eating here at Chuoy's. The Greeter was friendly and pointed us to our table. The waitress was awesome, She came out and brought the nachos chips and salsa. I never tried the chips, but they was good and fresh from what I understood. The dips had a little bit of a kick to it. Too much for my wife and mother in law to handle. but it was good. We got our drinks and the waitress took our order. I ordered the enchilada with taco and refried beans and rice. All was very good, hot and flavorful. The meat however had a little bit of spice, but it wasn't overpowering. My wife and mother in law split the steak fajitas. Those looked good and tasted good. You can see the steam as they was still cooking when they was brought to the table. My wife has celiac disease and requested corn tortilla for hers. They felt soft like flour so she brought it to the waitresses attention and she assured us that it was corn so we left it as is. It was a pleasant experience all around. My wife had shrimp tacos which she liked , Mr. unlucky had a beef burrito I would rather have Taco Bell if I am going to have bad mex at least it is cheap. the plate looked promising but burrito was mainly beans with a bit Of tasteless beef. I think I'm being generous for giving this place four stars. I wasn't really a fan of the customer service but I assume they were busy. We requested dressing on the side and that definitely didn't happen. I also had to hold up my check for a while (while = waiter walked by me 3-4 times and still didn't pick it up from me). I thought food was on the saltier side. If you get the shrimp tacos, I'd ask for the sauce on the side. Chips are thin in case you're wondering. I like good lighting at restaurants so I can see what I'm eating-there was good lighting here. They have a private lot shared with other shops at the center, but parking wasn't difficult to find. 4/5 because it's a Tex-mex place at a convenient location when you don't want to go far. read more

My friend and I both got the Big As Yo Face Chicken/Steak Burrito...and believe me when I tell you, it was as big as my face! The taste was amazing, as well as the complimentary chips and homemade salsa that was served nonstop. A fun and popular spot for Mexican food in the Hamilton Place area. We were meeting friends for a birthday and this was the place they picked. I had never been to a Chuy's and so I was excited to try it out. We waited about 30 minutes for a table big enough for all of us and enjoyed looking at the crazy decorations (mainly Elvis and car related) scattered throughout the lobby. The server worked hard to take care of us and was very friendly. The menu choices were a little overwhelming since I had not eaten there. Lots of things and combinations to choose from. I told the server I liked spicy food and she recommended the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. My husband ordered the Enchilada, Taco & Chalupa combo so he could try a little of everything. It was about another 35 minute wait for the food but it was a busy Friday night, so not surprising. They serve complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is fresh but not spicy at all. They have a creamy jalapeno dip you can order which is interesting. It has a ranch dressing base taste and I thought would go better with hot wings than chips but still good. Not hot or spicy to me at all. The food was good, not great. A little overpriced for serving size, in my opinion, when compared to other Mexican restaurants. The Chicka Boom had lots of chicken but, again, was not spicy. The green sauce didn't have as much flavor as I expected. Hubby said his food was good but not as good as Delia's or La Fiesta. Always enjoy this place since the first time I tried it in Birmingham (2011) Their creamy jalapeño dip is awesome. Their happy hour M-F 4-7pm is a free nacho bar (beef, beans, queso, salsa, jalapeños and chips) I finally tried their Tres Leches dessert and I am so upset that I didn't know about this amazing dessert 6 years ago!!! Every time I've eaten there, I always order the same thing: Chicken Tortilla Soup. So much flavor, fresh ingredients, and authentic flavors. Plus, it's filling. It contains avocado (because who doesn't love avocado at this moment?), and a side of two soft tortilla for dipping. Perhaps the best thing about Chuy's - biggest standout is their flour tortillas - soft, fresh, and tasty. Steak fajitas are solid, good portion, flavored with a bit of citrus and spices Chips and salsa are decent, with the salsa bar being a plus if you have to wait of course. For instance, if you ask for it in addition to the salsa brought to your table, they have a white dill-appearing sauce with a jalapeño kick. Nice! We had the combination fajitas and kids quesadilla and southwest enchiladas. The last choice was the most special meal at the table, and features their blue tortillas. By the way, you can watch the fresh preparation of their tortillas beside the dining area. All in all, a good experience, and I will plan to return. Worst restaurant experience EVER! My wife and I went to Chuy's for lunch today with 3 of our grandchildren. My wife and I just had an appetizer, so we ordered two take out orders to have for dinner. When we got home, 25 minutes away, we discovered that both of the meals were missing enchiladas as well as missing the beans and rice on both of the orders. We had also ordered a 16 oz queso and they only gave us an 8 oz. We called and spoke with Jonathan, who said he was one of the managers. He offered to reimburse our meal, but then said he couldn't even find our ticket number in the system. We really wanted the dinner we ordered so we drove all the way back there (34 miles round trip) to get it. When we got there, Jonathan brought out a bag with the food and said "here's your food" in a very nonchalant, rude manner as if I were a bother to him. I asked him to open the bag to ensure the order was correct this time and he acted like that was a nuisance also. To top it off, he never even offered an apology, just said, "here's 2 tickets for a queso next time you come in". I noticed that the queso in the bag was still not the 16 oz that we ordered. Jonathan rudely said, "well, that's what was on your original order". I said that it wasn't what we ordered and wasn't enough and asked for more and he became more rude. I said "do I need to give you one of these free queso tickets back so we can have what we ordered?" He said yes, grabbed the ticket and walked off. He brought more queso back and stuck it in the bag. I told him I felt this was bad customer service and that after driving 34 miles round trip to get our correct order that I would think he would do something more than that. He said she wouldn't. I told him I would be giving them a very bad review and he just said, " I hope you enjoy your food". Again, no apology at all. Any halfway decent business that gives this bad of a customer experience would offer the food for free or at a good discount (especially after us just spending $130 there only an hour earlier), but not Chuy's...not even an apology from the "manager" Jonathan. The whole experience there was pretty bad. Dylan was our server for our meal with our grandchildren and he was awful. First, he was supposed to bring extra chips and salsa because there were five of us. He got our drink orders. He came back without extra chips and salsa and without one of the drinks. My granddaughter had to ask three times for extra cheese for her taco salad before he finally got it for her. We had to ask for extra silverware because there wasn't enough. We won't be back. There are many excellent Mexican restaurants in Chattanooga such as Abuelos, Salsaritas, Taco Mamacita, El Jinette, El Meson, etc. etc. etc. ...even Taco Bell would have been a better experience! read more

This place has a great happy hour. Although sadly they have no draft beer which is a huge negative if you're into that. The happy hour during the week also and tells a lot of free food and way of kind of a buffet with queso and such.
