Updated review if you don't know by now, I think it's been 18 months since Chuys was bought out by Darden and boy. Oh boy this was mine and my families spot one of our key places that we shared a lot of time together over the last 20 years and it's been ruined. I haven't been there in six months because the last time we went, the experience was bad. The service is bad and the food is starting to take take on the look and premise of prepackaged right out of a can. I literally almost cried. I love the restaurant there in Saint Matthews. My family and my two daughters my wife we were regulars at that restaurant. I knew a lot of the waiters and waitresses. I'm not sure if the manager I've only seen him once, but I think he may also be or was an owner then. He would usually be sitting up at the bar and he made sure things were perfect and most of the time you couldn't get in that place especially on a Friday or Saturday you could forget it. It would be backed out going out the front end. Not anymore the first thing that happened was tthey used to give you free chips and queso or queso was just like under five dollars a bowl now it's almost $10 a bowl now and filling up your chip basket is a lot less frequent than it used to be & you have to ask for salsa and the cream chip dip. Your food comes out to you. It's not hot I got the Elvis Presley combo and it was just warm and guess what else the size of the food your portions are shrinking and they increase the prices. They evidently brought in a whole new set of waiters and waitresses either they're using that chewies for a training for all their other Darden restaurants or what is happen when you have a a giant conglomerate like Darden come in the entire atmosphere changes Used to have beautiful Spanish sometimes a little rock 'n' roll music playing.....that's over I suspect they've gotten a new manager and he's come in and doesn't know the first thing about that restaurant. It's food or how to keep the chewy atmosphere the way it was, and here she is coming and made a bunch of changes and a bunch of the senior staff has quit or maybe I hope that they got promoted to another restaurant or something. It's not the same. It's not special anymore. It's not unique. It's not fun. It's not the Chuy's that made it successful. It's Darden's version of a Mexican restaurant. Good luck.

Absolutely love Chuy's! We used to have one nearby in the Chicago area, but it closed. The chicken burrito bowl I had for lunch was so large I was munching on it, from my hotel fridge, for a few days. The chips and salsa were delicious and fresh. But the highlight of the meal was the Tres Leches cake. It was so fresh, moist and just the right amount of sweet.

I may not be in Texas right now but no reason can't eat like I am. Amazing bar service!! Andrew the bar tender is so on point! Exactly what I needed today being exhausted in all capacities. My dad passed away today in 2020 and my soul still feels like it was just two minutes ago. Grief is a crazy ride and creeps up on you from nowhere. Today I am allowing my comfort food & drink to help soothe my soul. I needed consistency and finding nothing more consistent than Chuy's. Chicken deluxe is so creamy spicy good. I barely had to speak and Andre's knew what I was asking for. I choose to believe that is Angel sent. I didn't realize Chuy's was outside of Texas and today I am so happy I saw it from the highway! Cheers dad!! Miss u sooo much! If you are in Louisville and in St Matthews area check out this Chuy's and sit at the bar. If you are lucky, you will get Andrew from the bar and it will fill like coming home.

Came for dinner around 7:15 ish on a Saturday night. I had put our names on the waitlist online and there was only a 10-20 min wait so we drove over right away. No more parking spots at the front but there were plenty at the back. When we checked in with the hostess, we didn't wait long to be seated. Tons of groups here. Always loud, always a fun vibe. The decor seems mismatched. Palm trees, strung up lights, black and white photos of people I don't recognize. Why does it remind me of Bahama Breeze? We started off with chips, salsa and their jalapeño sauce. Delicious! The chips are thin and easy to munch on. The salsa to me was kind of acidic. Not the best. I like the jalapeño sauce. Creamy and kinda sweet. For our entrees, I got the taco with one enchilada, my sister got enchiladas, and my mom got the combo fajitas. We all liked the food! Tex Mex ain't bad. Food portions arent too much. Doable to eat it all but I was pretty filled up on chips. I only ate my enchilada. I used to come here a lot ten years ago. Brings back memories. Hope to be back again soon!

    Red Robin

When it comes to cheeseburgers, I always want to eat at Red Robin. Something that looks cool about this place is how they decorate their place is the Statue of Liberty, but instead of the torch, it's a cheeseburger. Pam (our waitress for today) was awesome. They gave us our food in about 4-5 minutes. Speaking of the food, it was also awesome. Gourmet is their recipe. When my dad told them I wanted a plain cheeseburger, they listened. We came out with full stomachs when we exited Red Robin. Their logo looks nice as well.

I quite enjoy the Chuys chain, and this location is a great reflection of what it's all about! Quality staff provide a friendly, ubeat experience 7 days a week. This location is always consistent, the quality of the food never wavers, and the interior is always very well maintained! I always recommend their steak fajitas with a side of red chill sauce, and ending the meal with a Tres Leches Cake!

I usually don't bother with chains, but Chuy's is just something different. I dunno, maybe it's the insane decorations, or the different furnishings each sections have, or hell , maybe it's even the food. The chips and jalapeño ranch dip is by far the most addicting thing on the menu. Spicy, but not very. Just the right amount of goodness. The texmex fare is usually pretty good, but won't blow you away. Service is good. Drink menu is good, too. Worth checking out, especially if you've never been. I know I'll be back, as both my kids love this place.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

The chips and salsa were good and seemed really fresh. I loved my lunch chimichanga ($13), the best I have had in a while. The vegetarian tacos ($15) were okay, they were definitely messy to eat and needed more salt but the salsa verde helped. The refried beans were good, more flavorful than the normal beans you seem to get everywhere else. Aside from the lunch specials their prices look a little higher than your typical Mexican place but if ingredients are fresh and a step up in quality, I don't mind too much. Street tacos also looked good and things you cant get everywhere (Suadero anyone?) so I will probably be heading back to try those and a margarita flight.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
