This is my favorite restaurant, specifically the Southlake location. Every Saturday night, we either eat in the restaurant or lately, we pick up take out. Something is wrong with this location and their takeout. It is so inconsitent! We've started placing our order from the parking lot so that the food we pick up is hot and doesn't seem like it's been sitting for a long time. Today, we placed our order at 5:18, waited until 5:33 to text that we arrived, then we waited another 15 minutes, received cold food, and when we got home, discovered that one of our dishes is missing the protein?!?! We just spent $70 on dinner, and it's not our complete order. Y'all need to take a look at your take out service or don't offer it. read more

My wife and I had a craving for Mexican food and we're looking around Southlake and both of saw the Chuy's sign. We were seated promptly and the vibe is very homey, casual. I immediately loved this place. The wait staff was quick and helped us choose the chicken fajitas. The guacamole and chips were great. The fajitas were amazing. Probably the best I've had or at least the best that I remember. Yea glass was kept topped off and the check was brought out without me asking. Yes. I have to give the whole experience five stars. So, apparently they take cold pre-grated cheese from a package and chunk it inside the enchiladas because when we cut into two different orders of enchiladas all that was in there was UNMELTED COLD grated cheese! The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars is because there was a white powder substance in the bathroom. Not really the restaurants fault. But not appealing either. Food was great. What is wrong with this location?! I will not come back here. I gave it two tries in the past year and both times they have failed miserably. Last night at 5:20pm, we were seated quickly. It took forever to get our food and then it was presented terribly. Both orders of enchiladas had been sitting in the window forever. BLECH! they were old and didn't even come out at the same time as the fajitas and shrimp tacos. How do you mess up enchiladas? This Chuys did. And they tasted meh at best (The Elvis Presley memorial enchiladas.) rice and beans were old-- come on!! The manager then delivered the fajitas without plates for our kids sharing the combo fajitas for 2. He said he would be right back and never returned. We had to wait for our server to come over and check to go then get them. Just seemed like they were all a beat behind and no other servers even scan the neighboring tables to see if they need help. I'm done with this location. It was super busy as we were leaving. I honestly do not know how this place has a wait. read more

I think Chuy's deserves a 5 star, because really, it's Chuy's! It's awesome! For the price and all you get, plus funky tacky decor that's reminiscent of a 1950's Mexican food hoppin place to be, you have to be a pretty big freaking infant to give this place a bad review! If it's not your taste esthetically, who cares. But in-house made tortillas, over 7 different chip dipping sauces, happy hour dirt cheap prices, wide variety of Tex-Mex to feed the whole family without breaking the bank, FIESTA 100%! Basically you're the Mexican food Grinch or a god darn mental snob if you don't like Chuy's. You should at least, "get it", why this place is great! This was my second time in a month going to this location. We ate on the patio and I have to say, it was very interesting. I could not enjoy my meal for fighting off the 4 birds that were trying to eat our food and other patrons food. There were empty tables with leftover food that had not been cleared or cleaned that did not help the situation. One bird aggressively flew over my head twice. Our waitress was the only one working the patio and she was overwhelmed trying to keep up with the patrons. The food was good but, the patio area was not at all a pleasant experience. Found plastic in the dip ... the manager tried to tell me it was onion... ok. It took us over 30 mins to get our appetizers (we all had that for our meal). Then I watched as they stood over our food at the pass for more than 5 mins because they forgot one order of nachos. Then after all that, they got our order wrong. The food was on point. Our waiter, Arturo, was fabulous. However, Arturo was picking up all the slack. 2 workers visited at a table of guests for at least 10 minutes while we waited. I counted 7 workers, basically doing nothing. We waited a long time for our check. We finally had to get up to use the restroom. Our waiter was busily working in the kitchen. As we were heading up to the restroom, one of the workers told us, "Have a good night." My issue here is at least 7 workers on the dining floor doing nothing while this poor kid was busting his butt. read more

Be careful when you're considering getting on the waitlist - tonight it said 20-25 minutes but when wE showed up they said we were 16th in the list. The food is sooo good it's the best Mexican food I've ever had I have been going here since I was a kid the service is amazing how they seat us and getting our food yo us. Also a tip for anyone reading this there are hidden duckies almost everywhere except outside and it is very fun finding them also they move them frequently or from what I can tell. The vibe is very chill beach kinda theme in one room and a car theme in another and them a fancy sort of in another. Chuy's is family friendly so don't be hesitant to take your kids there. Chuy's is our go-to for our Tex-Mex fix. We love the Creamy Jalapeño sauce. It's great on everything or just dip your chips in it. Their Beef Fajitas are the best! They marinate it in Shiner Bock beer. We really enjoy their happy hour with free taco bar. read more

I'm willing to be more patient understanding the struggles but then to have a waiter make you feel like they don't even appreciate your business.. completely ruins the dining experience and creates more frustration. If you are going to have waiters not treat your customers right AND short staffed.. at least make the margaritas stronger so we can tolerate the visit! Hahahha! VEGETARIANS BEWARE: I ordered a Chimichanga with Beans and Cheese. And they got it wrong two times. The first was the mistake of the server who entered the order incorrectly and the second was a food containment issue. I was about 2/3 thru the second one when I got pieces of chicken. Upon noticing I called over the server whose first words were it's not my fault. Anyone that works in the service industry knows that is not something a customer wants to hear. He asked if I wanted to talk to the manager which I did. Buch, the manager, came over maybe 10mins laters to discuss what happened. He didn't seem genuine in his concerns. Didn't offer to ask how he can make it right. They took the plate never offered to allow me to finish my meal. they removed the item from the tab but I was upset that he didn't understand the gravity of keeping the meal vegetarian. For a restaurant that advertised on their menu vegetarian items this was an epic fail. After my conversation was over I see the waiter and manager laughing, not sure about what but I'm certain it was about my concerns. 2 stars is truly being generous. The positives include the salsa that came with the chips while waiting for food. It was very very good salsa. The second positive was the waiter who was kind, attentive and empathetic. From there the review goes down hill. Upon the arrival of my chicken tortilla soup (my main dish) it was lukewarm. I was also thoroughly unimpressed by the flavor. I'm a huge fan of authentic chicken tortilla soup and have eaten it all over the country at an assortment of restaurants. This was not up to par. We were in a hurry so I decided to just take it home for my husband to possibly eat, vs complaining, and eat the other food at the table which I will say was decent, not impressive. When I asked for the to go bowl and began spooning my soup in I found BONE AFTER BONE! Again I have eaten AUTHENTIC chicken tortilla soup all over the country and have never found a bone! We bring this to the waiter's attention who promptly gets the manager. A few minutes later Darrell the manager causally walks out and says hi and my husband has to ask if he is the manager. We show him at least 6 bones and talk about how displeased we are. What if our kids had choked on them? He then goes on to respond in a very non empathetic manner, chalking it up to the soup being "fresh" and "authentic". He then says he has been THINKING about putting a disclaimer about the bones on the menu for 2 months now for this particular soup. He did remove the soup from our bill however he kept offering me another bowl. Ummm, no thanks, that's enough nauseating bone hunting for me for one day. This was our first experience with Chuy's and will be our last. Between loud obnoxious staff horsing around, bones galore, mediocre food flavor and a lack luster manager, I certainly don't recommend this location or chain. read more

I like Chuy's but I always seem to go at a very busy time. The last visit was race weekend: we were able to grab a table in the bar right away. Service was friendly but slow due to the crowd which was large. Salsa, chips and guacamole were fresh and good. I had the Southwest Enchiladas which was very sparse on the chicken compared to the blue corn tortillas making the entree pasty. I wondered if the chef was stingy out of fear of running out of meat due to the crowd, but I wouldn't order it again. I'd like it better if the daily specials were offered every day: what I really wanted was only offered a few days earlier. read more

My mom had a friend in town from SoCal and asked where we should go for dinner that she couldn't get back home. Usually the first Tex Mex place I recommend is La Hacienda merely for its campy factor. You get to see cowboy hats, wranglers, horseshoes on the walls; basically your worst nightmare in terms of how people imagine Texans to be on a daily basis. What you get at Chuy's however is a more everyday and fun atmosphere since duh, it's an Austin based chain (shout out ATX!) that consistently delivers great food at a nice price. Her plane also happened to be arriving during happy hour which is the perfect time to visit and partake in their $4.50 frozen margaritas. If tequila isn't your jam they have $3 domestic beers and $8.25 house martinis as well. Did I mention the free nacho car with complimentary queso? They have that too. We got our own queso though because her friend wanted to try the one with beef, pico, and guacamole mixed in. It may sound a little crazy but it's sooooo good. They have daily specials worth checking out which is something I order a lot. The night we went it was chicken enchiladas with green chili avocado sauce, green chili rice, and refried beans. Spicy perfection! I would totally order that dish again. My mom and her friend split the combination beef and chicken fajitas (which you can get for 1 or 2 people) and they enjoyed their food as well. We were tempted to try the flan but were way too full. I've always been a fan of Chuy's. We've came here a few times. Our first visit here wasn't a great experience. Our waitress seemed to have a rough day and was not in a great mood. I asked for the yummy creamy jalapeño ranch and never got it. As my meal I ordered tacos and when it came out, it was super cold. I returned it and asked for a new order. It came out cold again. Seriously??? Third time around they were warm. At least it wasn't cold. The visits after were great. Our waitress Sisi was so nice and very attentive. I even got my creamy jalapeño ranch quick! The queso here is one of my favorites. I do love the taco salads here and they usually come with a great amount of protein. The ground beef tacos here are really good as well. I've had the tortilla soup here as well. While its cheesy and full of chicken, it seems to be lacking flavor. We're definitely regulars at Chuy's and I am so glad this location opened near me! read more

Maybe it's just growing pains, but my meal today wasn't as good as some I've had at other Chuy's locations here in North Texas. On the plus side, our server, KJ, provided great service and was very pleasant, interfacing well with our group. But about the food: The chips needed a bit more salt and were a little too brittle. House salsa, as I've mentioned other reviews, isn't really my thing, but it was fresh and plentiful. Queso compuesto was disappointing, with a very runny consistency that hardly clung to the chips, and the ground sirloin and guacamole were very scarce. It remained runny even at room temperature. My main plate fared a bit better; I selected the relleno and enchilda plate, with a ground beef relleno and Chika-Boom-Boom chicken enchilada. The latter was pretty good, but the chicken was a little tough and needed more seasoning. The relleno was better, with a nice, crispy crust and meaty, savory filling. I'll give this location another try, because as others have said, there may be kinks and new location issues to work out. The staff I interfaced with seemed pleasant and happy to be there, and there were no grave issues with our food. They'll get it together, and will be a fine addition to the sometimes stodgy and "fru-fru" Southlake restaurant scene. read more

I'll start with I hate Tex-Mex from the bottom of my heart, no food makes me more angry. Coming from California I'm used to good mexican food pretty much everywhere and moving to Texas I've found that there is no good Mexican food here only a sad mockery of a great cuisine. But Chuy's is the only place I can say that dosen't upset me. Their cheese enchiladas are good along with the ranchero sauce. Their chips and salsa are very good. I've also had their nachos at the Fort Worth location which I liked. It's pretty loud inside, it's a very open eating area so the booths are a nice place to sit. The decore is very busy and colorful. The new Chuy's in Southlake has great service! The servers are very attentive and make sure all your needs are taken care of. We sat on the patio for lunch and ordered margaritas and guacamole. I'm a little disappointed my the guac, it is put on a bed of lettuce to make it seem like a whole lot more than it really is. It's good, but a small portion. I ordered the new prickly pear margarita and the new martini margarita, both were delicious. FOr our meals we ordered the chicken flautas and the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas. The flautas are awesome, closer to rolled tacos than most places. The enchilada sauce was spicy and flavorful. Great experience compared to the other one in Addison (horrible service). read more

Had not been here since before the pandemic. We will never come back. I think I had the worst enchiladas I've ever had here. They actually used flour tortillas for enchiladas. That is definitely not authentic. The sauce was also not authentic. I don't even know what was in it, but it was not good. The service was horrendous to boot. There were quite a few servers just standing around. Our server came back to check on us maybe once. We used to love Chuy's. It has gone way downhill--at least at this location. It used to be authentic Mexican food..Taco Bell seems more authentic than this. Their menu has been cut to about a third of what it used to be. This was a huge disappointment. Went here for the first time for lunch this afternoon and was surprised that we had to put our name on a list and wait to be seated. Once seated, we got the queso. It was delicious. Not the best queso I've ever had, but still good. Our waiter (not sure of his name, but the receipt said Bruce) waited until our queso was nearly gone to take our order. We both ordered the Frito Pie enchiladas, which also came with rice and beans. The enchiladas were spicy but tolerable. I loved the rice! The meal came with enough for leftovers. I've been to other locations in DFW and several in Austin. There is merit to most of the previous reviews both good and bad. But all in all, Chuys is a great addition to the Southlake restaurant scene. Sure they've got some bugs to workout, the food was a little bland, specifically the grilled chicken fajitas, I'd like to chalk this up to new opening kinks, training etc. The presentation, temperature and complimenting sides were fine. We made it in time for last call for Happy hour. House margaritas for 4.25. I'd have to agree with the previous reviewer, the drink size was small and while the margaritas tasted good, three sips and gone. The service was friendly and prompt not just at our table but everyone we encountered. Chuys will be part of our regular rotation. They just need a few tweaks which is to be expected during a new store opening. read more

You know what? Back in the day in Austin I loved Chuy's fajitas. It was our spot to go to when we really wanted a Tex-Mex treat. However, since then I had sort of forgotten about it. I went on a couple of dates years ago before I met my boyfriend and maybe it was that I just didn't want to eat those times but the food wasn't very good. However, my customers have asked me for Chuy's for our last couple of lunches. So I have really gotten into ordering from them in the last month or so. I have ordered DoorDash about 3 to 4 times and used them for catering. I have to say their ranch dip is delicious. The queso is amazing. I do not know what they put in those things but those sauces are the most delicious sauce I've ever had in life. I really wish they had sopapillas back on the menu and some sort of fajita nacho. However, I will settle for my combo fajita platter which is always on my taste buds lately. So I have a renewed interest in Chuy's and I will continue to order from them. They have been pretty consistent over these last several weeks. So not Sure why they are not rated higher, but I have no complaints here. I highly recommend if you are wanting some good fajitas that you go visit them or you order from them using one of the services. You will not me disappointed. read more
