Chuy's has become my default place to go for Tex mex type food. With a decline in quality and/or service at other places we've gone; here the quality has remained great! Service can be slow at this location but usually the service is nice & the speed can be forgiven at least for my family where this is a good drive to go to so we allow for time. The food is favorable vs others in the mid-cities area, I've never been to the original but I will for sure try it out now that we've been to this location a few times. Prices run about average for a sit down Tex mex place in the area. I do feel the need to warn that there is cilantro is a good number of items here, most if not all. To be fair I don't taste it or if anything it adds to the quality but my sister in law is one of the people with the taste buds that it Ends up tasting like soap, so if you are like her be warned! read more

Came here for a reunion with friends to catch up and brought my boyfriend so that they could get to know him. My boyfriend is 24, and he has a Connecticut driver's license. We are all well over 21. The waiter took our orders and my boyfriend ordered a margarita. He asked for my boyfriends ID, glanced at it, and left. A few minutes later the manager came over to the table and told us the waiter thought his ID was fake and needed to see it again. They finally verified the ID was real after a long wait and they returned his ID. Alright, I get that if you really doubt an ID you can (and should) ask further questions. But they could've handled this differently, which is my reason for the 1 star. I love Chuys (Austinite) but this location has poor customer service. As someone who has worked in a bar, I make the following humble suggestions: -ask to see a credit card to verify the name -if you really feel the need to call a policeman, and it turns out you're wrong, at least offer to comp the beverage for the inconvenience and embarrassment. My wife & me were closing on our house had to drive to Southlake to sign paperwork. Got there early so we decided to grab a bite to eat. We stopped at Chuy's on Carroll. We were seated quickly it wasn't busy at all. We sat there for over 10 minutes waitresses kept walking by didn't say a word so we got up & left!! I'll never beg you to take my damn money!!! Very good. You have to try their hatch green chile sauce with your chips and tortillas. Excellent. They are constantly making delicious tortillas fresh. If you are a ranch dressing kind of person, their ranch and jalapeño sauce is good. I got a cheese enchilada with a chili relleno, very delicious. Get the beef relleno with ranchero sauce, excellent combination. The flan is some of the best I've ever had. Thick, creamy, rich yolk flavor. I chose to not give a five star rating because their standard salsa served with chips was too heavy on the onions. Service was friendly and overall good. A bit slow on coffee refills. read more

Chuy's was packed on this Friday evening with almost an hour wait for a table. We squeezed into an equally crowded bar that was packed with the thirsty and hungry enjoying a brew or margarita and the tail end of an ample offering of chips, queso, tacos, salsa for happy hour, so much that I would guess that some may make this their meal. Finally we were seated and we're glad that we were seated near the rear of the restaurant since it was extremely noisy in other parts of the place. Service was not the best - perhaps they have had trouble getting enough staff or haven't done a good job of training. Eventually we placed our orders. We shared queso compuesta and enjoyed it. We also shared a combination plate Comida that was good, though nothing exceptional. Our friends liked their shrimp Baja Tacos. Will we go back? It is unlikely that we will make a special trip, but if someone wanted company, there is no reason to stay home. While it is nice to see a popular restaurant, I would suggest trying to go at a less popular time. read more

This place was pretty good. Very average tex mex. The Taco Salad is very large and tasty. The house margarita is very very sweet. It tasted like 90% sweet and sour. But it was like $5.50 so I guess you can't really expect a stellar margarita at that price. They had Dos Equis Amber which I thought was on tap, 5 minutes later a drink runner drops off a bottle of Dos Equis and turns around quickly to to leave. ( I still don't know if it's on tap) I almost had to yell to get her attention to ask for a glass for my beer. The server was nice enough. Just seemed a bit disengaged and busy. Everything was very hustle and bustle which I guess that's typical for a Tex Mex chain...Turn and burn. I hear they have a fun happy hour with good prices and a nacho cart. Sooo.... Thankful, I didn't order online and pay first! I would Not recommend it. I called & ordered pick up, I was advised my order would be ready in 30-45 minutes. I Showed up an hour later. It was the most disorganized, chaotic, flaming Hot Mess, you could experience. I parked, stood in line for over 30 minutes, called to see if my order was even ready, then held another 15 minutes. No one ever came back to the phone, or called me back. While waiting, I ask the Door Dash Delivery Driver, at the front of the line, how long she had been waiting, and?? she said over and hour. I understand being busy.. but setting realistic expectations for your customer's is important. If you were Not staffed correctly, due to Covid19 you should have said so. I went to Chuy's in Southlake this past week with my family. I personally like the decor/vibes, and the atmosphere in general. To start, the chips/salsa were just okay. The chips were a little too thin (and cold) for my liking. I ordered the cheese enchiladas, and they were actually really good. The spicy sauce is really nice, and I love how many sauce options they have to choose from. Our waiter was fantastic and incredibly friendly, fast, efficient, and nice. He had great energy and did a fantastic job! I wish Chuy's would label food allergies on their menu (or at least their website) though. That would have made my experience better! Regardless, I would go back to Chuy's again. While there are amazing options for Mexican food in the area, Chuy's is fine when you're looking for something a little more casual! read more

I LOVE me some Mexican food so when I saw this place I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately I won't be back. The restaurants design/vibe wasn't what one would think a Mexican restaurant would be. I didn't care for the decor at all. The table that I was seated at was un level with the floor. The waiter was very snippy and not friendly at all. He basically imo was a complete douche. I also never saw any management walking around checking on customers and their orders, nothing. The salsa SUCKED. The chips were good but the salsa was chunky and tasted like crap. This was barely a one-star experience. When the food was served, it looked like it had been roasting under the heat lamps: crusty refried beans and dried out rice. I had the Stacked Enchiladas, which was basically purple tortillas, some shreds of unseasoned chicken, and a few shreds of Monterrey Jack cheese. What a disappointment. We had a table of 13, so obviously it would be a little long, but there was also a table of 10 who came after us, and got sad down before us. I'm not pleased to be giving a poor review to Chuy's. I lived in Austin for 9 years and loved Chuy's and Hula Hut. Honestly, the food at this Southlake location is mediocre. The margaritas are... Eh. I've been to this location three times now, food and service have been mediocre each time, but tonight was awful and probably my last. Tonight, I went alone and sat at the bar to relax after work with a margarita and a snack and salad and was all but ignored by the bartender. Didn't receive the margarita I ordered. House margarita with salt instead of skinny without. Ordered a queso while deciding my entree... When it arrived lukewarm 8 minutes later I still didnt have chips and salsa and had to wait more minutes for chips. Never got the chance to order dinner. Bartender didnt seem interested. Couple next to me received chips while my queso got colder. I pushed my barely eaten queso away and the recalcitrant bartender then asked if I wanted another drink... No. No and probably not ever. I'm not sure if the lack of service was because I was alone... Or? Not sure. Not impressed. read more

I'm a bit baffled by the reviews of poor service here. This is by far our favorite Chuy's in the area (I've eaten at Denton, The Tollway, and Beltline as well) and we have always had great service. The food is wonderful, on par with every other Chuy's I've been to, but I can't speak for the drinks or the bar. We drive from Lewisville to eat here and never have to wait to be seated as we have a toddler who eats at 5 pm, right before the dinner rush starts. Pre-baby though, we would come during the rush on Friday evenings and there was no difference in food or service. Oddly enough, we even pulled the manager aside one day to tell him how great and consistent their staff was. Chuy's has gone straight down. It used to be fun with a nice menu. Just went yesterday, where the menu is so limited as to be like Taco Bell or Taco Bueno. They no longer have sopapillas, their queso is bland, overall there is no reason to get a taco or burrito here when you can find it for 1/10th the price at Taco Bell. Covid is over, people are back out and want upscale Mexican dining in a fun place. Org wise we can drive thru Taco Bell and come home and watch Apple TV. read more

They put together veggie enchiladas for me which were dreadful, although I applaud their efforts. I will give them accolades for the refried beans and chips/salsa. Well I went in chuys last Friday at approximately 7:36pm. I locked eyes with a blonde haired waitress. She had amazing brown eyes that said "give me that big one". So anyways I ordered my chimichanga and had it wrapped up to go. I was able to seduce the woman. Me and Kaylee drove home in a hurry. I began undressing her, she grabbed my hand and said wait....I'm a mermaid. I said that would explain the fish smell. She then slapped me with her fin and swam off in the creek behind my house. I recommend any one of their frozen margaritas, especially on a warm evening. The atmosphere is really laid-back. In restaurant-rich Southlake, there are quite a few multi-location "mexican" restaurants. This is a new location of a popular Texas-based chain. It had been open several months before we tried it; I figured that they would have worked out any opening-day kinks. Based on this visit, I think management needs to work on it some more. Our server was rarely seen - I am not sure how many tables he had. For a Tuesday night, it wasn't THAT busy. What should have been less than an hour to eat, turned into a 90 minute feast of chips (they brought five baskets of chips while we were there). On the plus side, their chips and salsa - as well as a side of ranch - are excellent. On the negative side, the food is basic tex-mex... nothing to write home about. I ordered the Tuesday special: Fried Avocado. This is a different take on a typical chile rellano, made with an avocado instead of a chili. It was served with refried beans and mexican rice. Our daughter ordered crispy tacos - for some reason our server charged us full price instead of a kid's portion. I also had two margaritas, on the rocks with salt. Wife had their mexican martini, which is a deal at $9.50 - she had enough alcohol for two drinks the size of mine. Overall, if I were taking someone out in Southlake, there are several other tex-mex restaurants I would recommend before resorting to Chuy's. Maybe if they can help the servers, it will survive. read more

My husband and i ordered delivery today from Chuy's through their website (this is the first time we've gotten food out since the quarantine began). Unfortunately, there was a mix up with our address, which happened somewhere between Chuy's website where we ordered from, and their third party vendor (Door Dash), because our food still had not arrived 45 mins after it was expected. However, after calling them and figuring out the error, Chuy's graciously credited our order and even delivered it to us by one of their own employees. The food was delicious! Their customer service is excellent and we will definitely continue to order from them (and hopefully dine in the restaurant when we are able!) read more

Whenever I'm in the Dallas area visiting the in-laws, it's become tradition that we have at least one dinner at Chuy's. By default, it's become my favorite Tex-Mex Place in town! I can say that all of the times we have been there, I have no had a bad meal to date. This particular occasion I went with the chicka-chicka boom-boom enchilada's (perhaps more enticed by the name more than anything else!). All of their enchilada's are rolled up as you order them. This particular one included pulled chicken, cheese and Boom-Boom sauce (along with all of the usual fixins). The chicken was full of flavor, tender and delicious. The boom-boom sauce was a nice touch - totally smothered the enchilada's (which I'm a fan of). It was served with the usual - rice and beans (I went with the slightly spicy green chile rice, and charro beans) Chips are served prior to dinner and are on the house (something a lot of restaurants by me in NY are moving away from... grrrrr) - make sure you ask for the jalapeno ranch sauce for dipping - it was absolutely addicting. Service here was great and the waiter was very attentive to our large group Next time I'm in Texas visiting, I will return... tradition or not, I love this place read more

Easy, this place is easy. It was easy to park, once inside we were shown our seats and quickly served fresh tortilla chips with salsa fresca and a creamy jalepeno dip. Super easy. The menu can be a bit daunting if it's your first time. The burritos are excellent, but so is just about everything else on the menu. My wife ordered some chicken avocado salad that looked incredible (she confirmed, it was incredible). Our server was fine- a little snooty but was timely and kept our drinks coming. The house margaritas were excellent, and had plenty of tequila. The prices are a little on the high end but nothing over the top. Trust me, the quality of food matches the pricing. I've been a regular at Chuys for many years so when we moved up north of Fort Worth we were very happy to find this Chuys in Southlake. The food, chips, queso, salsa, and drinks are always spot on! If you are heading here for the first time I recommend starting with the queso and ordering the chuychanga, the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas, or the big as yo face burrito. If you are trying to eat light the taco salad minus the shell is a great go to! Happy hour M-F 3-7. Free nacho bar! The customer service is amazing. I recently order a large quantity of food for a party I was throwing and they called me the day of to see what time I would be by to pick up the good because they wanted the food to be fresh. After picking up the food I realized that they gave me two regular orders of quesadillas when in fact I had order two dozen quesadillas, I picked up the phone to get things sorted out thinking I would have to drive back up there to pick up the rest. The manager (Nate) was so apologetic and he had them quickly make the remaining food for me and had a coworker deliver the food to my house. They don't normally offer delivery so for them to go out of their way to fix the issue and save me the second trip was really great. I'll continue to be a regular at Chuys :-) read more

DO NOT DO CURBSIDE OR PICKUP. We ordered our food at 5:45 online, received a message that it would be ready for curbside pickup at 6:30. Got there at 6:30, called the number to tell them we were here and sat. After 20 minutes of waiting, we called again and again and they continued to hang up. Finally some server came out and took our name but never came back with food. We called again, and again, still no answer. The servers immediately showed their irritation with us in a disrespectful manner when we were sitting in our car and would ask them as they walked by if our food was ready since we had been waiting for over 30 minutes PAST our pickup time at this point. Our biggest frustration at this point was watching other cars pull in after us and receiving their food.... multiple times this occurred. We truly did not think our service could get worse. After finally getting a hold of a worker running food they told us our food was still not ready and cooking after 45 minutes. Finally a server brings our food to our car, reads off the recipes says it's all there and leaves. On the way home my daughter grabbed the chips from the bag because she was hungry and noticed that there didn't seem to be a third container of food or the large 8 oz creamy jalapeño sauce in the bag. At this point we were already almost home, as we live in a different town and drive 20 minutes each time we want to get to chuys. I was horrified at this point and extremely upset. As we got home I pulled out all the food and we were missing an entire meal, one out of our three meals ordered and the extra 8 oz creamy jalapeño sauce we PAID FOR. Since we were already home by this point, starving and it was 8 o'clock we decided to call. They didn't answer until almost the third time we called. This was extremely frustrating since our past two hours were already a terrible service experience with them. When they answered we asked to speak to the manager and waited on hold for 5 minutes, then the host came back on the phone took our name and number said they would call back and hung up. We waited all night and never got a call back. I understand during these times some things are challenging due to the new system chuys is running. However that is not an excuse for the service we received. Do not be open and offer a timed curbside pickup, that is not accurate and then not give the customer their order correctly. Also I would've expected them to be a little more productive and respectful to us since we politely called and asked about our food as we sat for 45 minutes, already tipped 20% and didn't receive all the food we paid for. I've never ever put something negative on Yelp, but I truly believe this is necessary and people should be aware before ordering food from them. We usually love chuys and their INSIDE dining, but we will not be doing curbside or pickup ever again. read more
