Southlake Town square is a beautiful place to walk around and shop, and this Mi Cocina is a great place to end your shopping day. When we walked inside, we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered some queso that was only okay. Our main entrees were the "sunset enchiladas" and the "chicken fajitas", and they were good but nothing out of the ordinary. We were a bit upset about our waitress, due to her being unavailable most of the night, and at the end of our meal she gave us the wrong check. Me and my girls came here for a girls' late brunch and we had so much fun! The waiters were very friendly, polite, and helpful! My husband is Mexican so I'm familiar with Mexican but my girls are not. The waiters were really nice helping us choose what he thinks we would like. He recommended us, I forgot the name, but the appetizer with ceviche, augachile, and shrimp cocktail. My girls had so much fun trying the differences! They all have their favorites. We came back to Southlake for our regular Tex Mex fix this week and ate at Mi Cocina in Southlake twice. We almost always order the Tex-Mex basics. After studying the menu for the second visit, we decided to try a Mi Cocina special and a Diana's Favorite. Husband had the Ribeye Al Carbon. The steak was very tender and flavorful. The rice here is delicious and traditional. He substituted refried beans for the bean soup, and regretted it after tasting my bean soup. It's SO delicious with lots of ham. I chose the Shrimp Brochette. It had 6 perfectly cooked large shrimp, the bacon wrapped around them was crispy yet the shrimp was not over done. The rice, bean soup, and guacamole were perfect. This restaurant has a wonderful ambience, service is always good. Staff are welcoming, efficient and communicate well. For example our server mentioned our dishes would take a little longer. It wasn't much longer than the usual basics and very worth the small extra wait! Of course we will be back! read more

First off this is never an indictment of staff in any way, they always aim to please. I've been going to this location since it opened almost 20 years ago, so I understand what it means to the city of Southlake ,and growing up here it's been a part of the local community. We hopped in today to the bar for a quick snack after Art in the Square. As usual staff is great ,always there, always attentive. We ordered two chicken breasts, à la carte, a cup of queso and two cocktails. When I got the bill, I looked down and it was over $80. We didn't order doubles just two chicken breasts a cup of queso and two drinks. When I asked a question about 30 bucks for 2 4 ounce chicken breasts they said well that's the way we have to ring it in as an entire dinner. I said I didn't want an entire dinner. I wanted two chicken breasts. It was $30 for 2. 4 ounce chicken breasts. Again the staff has no skin in the game of what to charge but when I go to the other two restaurants within town Square that have Mexican food and order a chicken breast at best it's six or seven dollars apiece and we tip accordingly. So the highway robbery of charging me $30 for 8 ounces ounces of chicken is something that you do at a sporting event or a festival, not at a restaurant that I've been going to for almost 2 decades. That's simply ridiculous. I could've ordered double fajitas for that price. It's time to reconsider your processes. You lost me to your competitors. I spend over $1,000 a week eating out and ill pay for what i want gladly , i'm just not used to paying airport prices at home. read more

Stopped in here on a snow day where Mi Cocina was the only restaurant open in the area. I was expecting slow service due to the extreme weather conditions, but I was pleasantly surprised. The waiter was excellent and provided top notch service. The food was served very fast and everything tasted excellent. We started with the sampler appetizer and everyone at our table devoured the entire plate. The margaritas were very good as well. The guacamole appetizer was expense for what you get at $9 but the plate prices for tacos are fair. I had two drinks, they came out fast, too fast, like Clark Kent to Superman Photo Booth, everything must be premade. The drink flavors were ok, I wouldn't return just for drinks but with the meal one was a ok compliment. Our waiter was great, you could see his hustle but his coworkers let him down when we didn't get complimentary chips or salsa, the waiter noticed when he returned to the table with our appetizer and corrected. We dined at the Southlake location earlier in the week. They were very busy but we got timely service and good food. My wife was wanting scrambled eggs, fried potato wedges and fresh avacado. The waiter said they didn't offer eggs a le carte. i told him we had been ordering them that way for years. When the check arrived, we were charged for a dinner. I asked for the manager. Gustavo arrived quickly. Upon inquiring, he informed me that eggs were no longer in their system as an a le carte item. He was courteous, prompt and explained that they looked for the eggs a le carte without success. it was nice getting a direct answer without eye rolls or attitude. Gustavo's answer was perfect. I have not really looked at their menu much lately because, I am a creature of habit. I spotted Tacos Veganos. They are described as: Guajillo sautéed Mushrooms, Poblanos, Spinach, Grape Tomato, Garlic, Potatoes, Corn Tortillas y Avocado Ensalada I ordered with soft flour tortillas. I wish I had photographed the. Three well filled tacos. They were really good. The garlic was a little strong for my liking, but there were a great change from the usual fare. This has got to be one of the worst Mi Cocina I have ever dined at and the first time a waitress has been rude to me and my family. I have dined here on February 1, 2026 and I was hoping to have a great family dinner with my parents until our server Vanessa C. was being rude to us. The food was taking 45 minutes long and when our order finally came out, I had ordered the fajita and my dad ordered the beef fajita. She only gave us one tray of tortilla and expected me and my dad to share it when clearly it's not enough for the two of us. I even asked for extra tortillas and she walked off without acknowledging me and I then called her to get our attention and I asked if we could get extra tortillas and our server said, "Is there anything else you need besides that?" Which personally, I think is RUDE! When Vanessa brought out our plates, she left my mom's plate at the end of the table and didn't even bother to hand it or place it down in front of her. Our fajitas didn't come with cheese or sour cream and we had to pay! The sour cream and cheese is usually included with the fajitas at the Mi Cocina at Alliance. Ordered the Rico salad. Lots of lettuce, not much more, especially the chicken. Googled what it looked like and images from FB/IG had big pieces of chicken. Mine had 4 slices, all together could not have been an eighth of a chicken breast. I can't imagine the total cost of ingredients was more than 2 bucks. I also travel for work and provide lighting and dimming systems to many high end national accounts, steak restaurants, fine dining etc. I was commissioning a jobsite in southlake and Mi Cocina was the closest restaurant around with a low $ on Google. When I walked in the hostess says something to the tune of "This kind of a nice place for you" Okay Yeah I was carrying a duffel bag and backpack, but you should never judge a book by its cover. Especially when you're a mid tier restaurant. The salad was good though and my server was great. Btw, your lighting is mid and high ceiling floods are low end. Having worked with National and world renowned restauranteurs in the industry some with revenues over $500-800million alone, customer service and getting 5 star ratings should be your top priority, not having condescending front of house staff deterring business. read more

Visited Mi Cocina in Southlake on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant is located in the Southlake Town Center so there's ample parking. It's large with an outdoor patio. The restaurant does not take reservations and there is no online wait list. We arrived a little before 7:00 PM and we're told it would be about an hour wait. They gave us a buzzer so we could browse stores near the restaurant if we wanted to. The wait was about 45 minutes. Our waitress was friendly attentive. We ordered mambo taxis and shared the Nachos Al carbon. We did half chicken and half steak. The drink was excellent. I had never tried nachos like the ones they served. They were more like mini nacho stacks. The meat, cheese, etc stacked in between nacho chips. It was delicious and exactly what I wanted. Will definitely return. read more

I grew up eating Mi Cocina at various locations across the metroplex, as I was in the DFW area for a week, decided to swing by for lunch before I head off to the airport, I'm sure glad I did! I decided to sit at the bar, Everything was very good. Treated myself to a margarita as well as queso. The queso tasted so amazing. I got a half order of the Nachos Locos. It was a good size portion for 10 bucks. Now I really do wish there was a Mi Cocina in Northwest Arkansas(there is probably only 2 good "authentic" Tex Mex restaurants in Northwest Arkansas) because if there was I would probably come there about 2 or 3 times a week. Overall it was a very good lunch and I will definitely will be back to another Mi Cocina when I come back to DFW read more
