Easy parking on a Wednesday afternoon. I got the haircut I wanted at a reasonable price. Stylist really listened to what I wanted and made sure I liked it at the end. She even offered to add more layers if I wanted at a later date if I got home and decided he wasn't enough. There was also a deep conditioning treatment that I wasn't expecting (included in the price of the cut) which made the total experience a little under 2 hours but it was worth it. The only thing I didn't like was the way she combed my wet hair. I have bleached/processed hair so I wish she would've combed gently from the bottom but she started at the top and was a little rough. I have been coming to Ciao Salon for 7+ years now & have been nothing but great experiences & hospitality. I usually get the same cut each time which is to thin out my hair (super thiccc), relayer & trim/cut off the dead ends. Chau does a wonderful job making it super lightweight at the end of each cut & just how I like it. All the staff there are very nice & have many many years of haircutting/dyeing hair. so I have very curly hair & I wear it curly most of the time, but sometimes I like to switch up my look and wear it straight. I'd been getting curly cuts recently, but wanted a regular cut to be able to wear it straight and it not look wonky/uneven. I texted Ciao salon with my questions and concerns, and received a quick response from Chau- we ended up on a quick phone call going over my concerns and what I wanted, and then she was able to get me in the next day! I went in today, she shampooed, conditioned and blow dried my hair, and then she cut it with long layers and some long face framing layers like I'd requested. She then styled it to perfection guys. This was the part I was weary about because most stylists don't really know how to get MY super curly hair, super straight, especially in the middle of Houston summer. My hair is naturally dark, which means it's hard to get to the color that I desire. Amanda does a really good job with blondes. She's been doing my hair for two years now & I can't turn back on her. The staff there makes you feel really comfortable and they are very friendly. I get my hair retouch every month with her, and everytime I do I always switch up to either highlights or lowlights. I've been a blonde for over two years and I can't go anywhere else who can do such a great job as her! It's been a good 2.5 years since I last dyed my hair. The only reason I waited so long - was so that I could cut off all my processed hair and have it grow back in my natural black hair. I had finally found the color that I wanted to dye my hair - so off I go to Ciao Salon. Chau has cut my hair before, but I've never gotten it colored here. Kayli was my color specialist for this occasion. I showed her pictures of the look that I was going for and off we go from there! I only had to go through one session of bleach. Kayli was also very helpful along the way, making sure that I was happy with what was going on. After she added the color to my hair, I was off to one more wash and then my cut with Chau. At first, while my hair was still very damp, I couldn't see the color very well. While getting my hair cut and blowdryed by Chau, the color was becoming more and more vibrant. I was getting thrilled!! Chau has cut my hair before - so I knew I was in good hands. I love my hair with layers and side swept bangs - and she gives me that every single time. If I ask for only 2 inches cut off, that is what I get! Even while I was getting my hair bleached and colored, Chau had another appointment that sat right next to me. The customer was kind of puzzled as to how she wanted to cut and style her hair. Chau sat through a consultation with her to explain the different types of hair and how they'll grow/lay. I was referred to one of the stylists, Lindsey, from a friend and from the start with setting up the appointment and everything, she was really friendly and accommodating. If I could give this salon a MILLION star rating- I would. I heard about this place from a few of my friends and they are so accommodating and warm and welcoming. Amanda was super uber kind to put me into her schedule super last minute and she did an amazing job with my hair color and Ciao did an amazing job with my hair cut and Im beyond obsessed with my hair. Other times I gotten a haircut at other places, I always have photos that gives an idea of what I want and usually I always been told the photos I bring wasnt enough and they needed to see a different angle or side, etc. BUT here... I showed them 1 photo of the color I wanted and 1 photo on the length and the results turned out exactly what I wanted!!! Here is a little story: A petite asian girl had boring, long black hair. Before her fairy hair god-mother, she has an addiction to hair color. She decided these hair magicians were no longer worth it - overpriced and results were not up to par. She attempted to play hair magician at home, but that didn't go so well. So, she dealt with her boring, long black hair for years. Then, someone introduced her to Amanda, her fairy hair god-mother. Seriously, Amanda brought so much life and character to my hair. She is very knowledgable, methodical, professional, and caring. She truly cares for your hair. She would never do something to it that would damage it unlike many other hair colorists. She is just so talented. Since 2016, she has taking my virgin black hair to a chocolate mauve/rose gold, ashy blonde, fiery red Jean Grey color, greige, and back to rose gold again. Here's an update! Since my first encounter here at Ciao Salon with Amanda I've been a very loyal client to her! She is my only colorist, even my stylist from another salon tried to sway me away. From the first time to being ash blonde, it was achieved in an instant. To the second time going ombré purple. Done. Then she brought me up to blonde!! FROM MY OMBRÉ PURPLE!!! I visited back here in April to get my hair dyed, it's now July and even though much of my roots have grown out, the color is still there, and it's still very noticeable and it's fading nicely, I get compliments all the time. Amanda is such a knowledgeable hair colorist, she really takes her time in consultation AND during your actual appointment to make sure you're happy. I got the greatest haircut from Chau (the owner) at Ciao Salon. At $65 for a short bob, her prices are very fair, considering you're getting a cut from the salon owner. However, expect a different style of service with these fair prices. It's a small, very much owner-operated business. Situated in a cute little bungalow in Montrose, to keep prices relatively low compared to the big salons without sacrificing skilled stylists, there are minor compromises you'll have to accept. No receptionist = Chau answering her phone during your session and possibly stepping away for a few minutes. No beverages offered = BYOB or water. None of these compromises bothered me, but I can see how it might bother others. The salon atmosphere overall is very laid back, but staffed with very skilled stylists. Imagine what it would be like to go over to your friend's house who happens to cut hair, but this time you're not washing your hair in the kitchen sink. read more

I wanted a wavy bob but especially an ombré hair from dark hair to something blond. Amanda took time to explain the pros and cons of processing this kind of treatment on dark hair (I had something between red and brown color). I knew that it Will take time and several steps to get stg blond. I was afraid that my hair Will be very damaged, burnt, and dry. I have thick hair but healthy glowy hair. I was afraid to come out with stg horrible and that color won't work on me. The thing is, my ombré turned out very great. I had blond highlights 1st time I came. Then Chau cut them as I wished to get a wavy bob. I wanted them to be shorter but Chau wanted me to be sure that I won't regret the length, so she avised to come back later to get trims for free next time. I came a week after and she did it for free. 1 month later, I came for the 2nd highlight step, to get a lighter tone. Amanda took care of me and she did à Wonderful job. I am blond now ahah but she did it well, stg "natural" my hair are not completely colored. I have to admit my hair were à little bit damaged but I expected that, so I am doing à lot of hair care and now they are soft and glowy. To be fair I have not actually got my hair done here. I called in for an appointment and to get some information and I felt like the receptionist was difficult to work with. I work in an office myself so I understand the you can not give away a certain prices because everyone is different but I felt like she was getting loud and keep telling me "I cannot tell you anything, until you see the stylist"! I calmly would ask her for their availability and I would get the same loud response over and over. I was debating on the phone if I should come in for a consultation but I felt like the receptionist was pushing me off the phone cause she would cut me off saying she can't help me with anything before I could finish asking my question. For anyone that's new and curious about info and price. They can't give you a range until you see someone and then so they won't be able to start on you until another day. I won't know how many days/weeks later they'll start on you since I couldn't get any information out of her other than yelling. I work in an office myself so I understand their policy but I felt like I was getting yelled at just to asking for basic information. Since moving to Houston ciao salon is the only place I've gone back to consistently. She is an expert at cutting hair, and no matter how busy the salon is she takes time to make sure she knows exactly what you want and puts a lot of effort into her time with you. They demand that you bring a picture for them to copy- which I did- however I wanted a few little things different and the stylist ARGUED WITH ME OVER EVERYTHING!!! Literally this stylist not only talked down to me like I was a moron but she refused to listen to what I wanted. She spent maybe 15 minutes (yes 15 minutes) cutting my hair, rushing to get through to get to another customer. She talked over me and kept telling the other customer she was almost done with me. Chau is the one that cuts my hair. She is always attentive to me and always concern if she is running late. This one time she kept apologizing because she was running 5 minutes behind and she always has this sense of urgency. Coming here I feel like they take my time into consideration.
