I wanted to love this place more. Really, I did. My girlfriend and I dined here Saturday evening after making same-day reservations. Since I've heard so much praise and positive reviews of this place, I was VERY excited. We arrived after a couple, and the hostess, without greeting us, seated the couple, came back and answered the ringing phone. In the meantime, the manager approached the host stand to check on something, also did not greet us, and asked some questions of the hostess. Finally, we were asked if we needed a table for two. In response, I told her I made reservations. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, at a cramped two-person table extremely close to other tables. I inquired about a booth, and the hostess simply said it was reserved, not making any further effort to accommodate a request to be seated elsewhere. I'm positive the entire restaurant could not have possibly been reserved as she was eager to seat us without reservation, so I'm confident she could have done just a bit more. Anyway, I digress. We were greeted quickly by our server and ordered the following: -Our Signature Cibo Meatballs: san marzano tomatoes, fresh ricotta, parsley -Our Signature Lobster Spaghetti: Maine lobster tail, spicy garlic wine sauce, tomato -Handmade Pappardelle: bolognese sauce The meatballs are large! They came out hot and steamy and the sauce is delicious. The ricotta is a great addition to the sauce to even out the flavor. However, these were more bread-like than meaty and for $12 for 3, I think they can spare a bit more meat. My plate, the lobster spaghetti, is good -- a thin, light sauce, slightly spicy, and lots of small pieces of lobster. This dish is good, but hardly unique or supreme, and definitely not worth the $30 a pop. The pappardelle was also not what I was expecting - it was completely buried in sauce, and really took away from the fresh pasta. I normally love this dish for its homemade pasta and light sauce, not to be fishing for pasta in a sea of sauce. The most disappointing part of my dining experience here was the service. Not once did I see any staff member smile - from the hostess to our server to the manager. We were seated directly next to a table who received incredible service from our server while we were practically ignored. I watched in awe as the server checked on the neighboring table 5x before asking us if we were "okay" in passing. She stopped to chat with them for minutes at a time. I sat with my iced tea empty while she refilled theirs not once, but twice. Only after I asked for a refill did she bring me one, and without simple syrup like I requested the first time. When the manager checked on us, I asked for more simple syrup and he seemed annoyed at the request. Again, no smile, no warmth. I hate to chalk my experience up to discrimination, but I felt the treatment was blatant. Cibo e Beve is a casual, more traditional Italian restaurant located off of Roswell Road. It can be found in a strip-mall along with Food101, Bangkok Thyme, and New York Butcher Shoppe. Parking is ample, as there are many spots in the front and back of the restaurant. We came for dinner, and the atmosphere was very cozy. It took a while for us to be seated, as the restaurant was not too busy, so there was no one at the front, but once we were seated, service did not disappoint. Complimentary bread and oil was brought to our table and we decided to try their carbonara ($24) and brisket canneloni ($25). Our wait on food was average, about 15 minutes, but multiple servers came by to check on us in that short time to refill our drinks and stock our bread. The food was decent, we weren't wow'ed by it, but we certainly enjoyed it. We decided to skip dessert, since their options didn't seem different enough to try - gluten-free chocolate cake, homemade gelato, and tiramisu. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I probably would not go out of my way to come here, but I would recommend Cibo e Beve especially for a chill night of drinks or even a date. read more

Our server was attentive, friendly, answered any questions we had, and gave great recommendations, as this was our first time dining there. Water was refilled promptly and often. We started off with some complimentary bread and olive oil, which was not bad, but nothing special. However, we were all very satisfied with the pastas we ordered! I had the taglierini norcina, which has a rich truffle cream sauce, sausage, and homemade fresh taglierini. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfectly seasoned and decadent with no shortage of truffle flavor! The portion was also very generous and I took home half in a to go box. My friends also very much enjoyed their orders of ravioli and veal piccata. Of course we had to try out the desserts. I had the spumoni, as recommended by our server. It was 3 layers of gelato (pistachio, cherry, and chocolate) molded into a ball and covered in a chocolate shell: a great way to end the dinner. The pistachio and cherry were refreshing and the chocolate was rich and dark. All in all, it's priced very fairly, given the quality and quantity of food and friendly service. Cibo e Beve (the Italian words for food and drink) is a modern Italian restaurant that opened July 21, 2011 in a Sandy Springs strip mall it shares with sister restaurant Food 101 and Thai restaurant Bangkok Thyme. I've been to Cibo e Beve a couple times and think the food is A-OK. There are some outstanding dishes and service is excellent. Cibo is a nice looking, warm and cozy restaurant. It's perfect for small groups and dates. The largest table at Cibo is a 10-person tall table in the back next to the open kitchen. I recommend sitting at the counter in front of the open kitchen to see (and smell) all the action. Convenient coat and purse hooks are installed throughout the dining room and bar. Between the bar and kitchen is a wood-fired oven for pizza baking. Wood is used extensively in the space, from floor to ceiling, including decoratively stored stacks of chopped wood (presumably used in the oven). Comfy booths and banquettes with pillows round out the rustic-yet-contemporary interior which can get loud when things get busy. My trips to Cibo have been for dinner where the restaurant offers salads (e.g. the Insalata D'Estate includes strawberries, buttermilk dressing, candied pecans, goat cheese) and veggies (e.g. Crispy Brussels), appetizers like Wood-Roasted Oysters and Charred Octopus, pastas, pizzas (including Neapolitan-style pizzas), and traditional and inventive Italian entrees like Chicken Parm, Ossobuco (veal shank), and a "Cibo" burger made with brisket, short rib, and tri-tip. Expect to spend about $10-12 each for most apps and sides and $20-30 each for most pizzas, pastas, and entrees. Cibo uses local, seasonal ingredients and I've noticed the menu change between my visits. The exact items I've listed in this review may not be on the menu during your visit. The sauce really brought out the flavor in the beef and veal. The Lamb was my favorite dish of the second course. The on-the-bone meat was tender and tasty. The Chicken Marsala was my least favorite. When it came to the sides, I didn't care much for the Potatoes (rather plain), but the Broccoli and Polenta were terrific. The broccoli was nice and buttered up. I recommend the polenta. It was smooth and velvety. The Gelato Pie was delicious with a plentiful helping of sweet Amarenas. It was the clear-cut winner in the dessert category. Plenty of parking is available at the strip mall. You may have to park behind the building and walk around to the front. She was attentive but not over bearing at all. The owner came outside and checked on us twice!! That is AMAZING customer service. We ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts to start with they were good but needed a little more olive oil and my poached egg was way over done and for my entree I had their signature Lobster pasta and it was spot on and absolutely delish!!! Service was great! Me and my friend came on a Monday night so it wasn't busy at all. The server suggested we get the octopus over calamari for our appetizer so we did. We were wary but wanted to try something different, and the server even told us that if we didn't like it, he'd get us something else! And surely, we didn't like it, so he got us calamari instead!! Calamari had a sweet bed of sauce underneath and served with a side of marinara. I ordered the diablo pizza which had a kick of spice in it. It was huge! I ate 2 slices and was done. "Come on, man. It's some pretty serious spaghetti." -- The Walking Dead: Season 5 | Episode 13 I have been a long time fan of Chef Linda and this review is long overdue. I've come to this restaurant easily, a dozen times. Lunches, dinners, special occasions, casual drops ins and it has always been spectacular. You wouldn't expect it - not in a little strip mall setting, but give it a shot anyway. Parking can be a challenge, especially on a busy night, so consider Uber or Lyft. When you are seated, order the burrata (a Chef Linda special) and the crispy Brussel sprouts and you won't be disappointed - but don't over eat as an amazing meal is coming for you. The atmosphere can be louder on a busy evening, but the darker lighting definitely sets the mood appropriately. My favorite entree has always been the lasagna, but it is not always available and Chef has removed it from time to time - so be prepared for it to not be available. Her carbonara is rich and flavorable, but not for the faint of taste buds. It may be one of the richest I have had - sinful to be honest. But worth every calorie. As for dessert, well it is tough for me to eat dessert here as most items have tree nuts. I have only had the Tiramisu - a delicious version, to be sure. My friends rave about the gelato pie and come here exclusively to eat it - so I recommend it by reputation alone. As an appetizer, I got the roasted cauliflower with marscapone cheese, honey and pine nuts. It was good, and unique because I've never had cauliflower served this way. Loved it! I only wish the portion was a bit bigger, but it's ok, because I had to save room for... Rigatoni. They had me at eggplant for this one. This dish is not marked as vegetarian, but it is, and you can double check with the server. The menu listed tomato sauce, which sounded boring, so I asked the waitress to try to amp it up, and they did. The dish I was served was rich and flavorful, maybe even with a HINT of sweetness, but I didn't mind. My guess is that they added some cream to the dish so that the sauce would not be too tomato-y. So sad...We have been coming to Cibo since the very very beginning. The last few times it had been so mediocre that we took a year off. We went last night and sat at the bar with Charlie. She was friendly at first, but was not attentive at all, and gave us an annoyed look when we reminded her for the parmesan that we had asked for seven minutes prior. Then, proceeded to ignore us until check time. But the real tragedy is the food... It used to be so wonderful. We started with the Tuscan bean and Kale soup...no kidding, it tasted like the broth was water perhaps flavored with a bit of ham. Almost no taste at all. The Caesar salad was dry so we asked for more dressing. The meatballs, although tender, had almost no flavor. And the chicken Parm, well, I've had better on airplanes...What in the world has happened? There was almost no flavor other than the sauce and all the salt I added and the texture was not very desirable. It's the holidays so it was a little busy, so I recommend making dinner reservations, but we were able to snag a table with no wait. 1. The restaurant is very cute and intimate, great ambiance. 2. Extensive wine collection, and holiday cocktail specials. I recommend the Pumpkin Spice Mule, very good. 3. The manager recommended the lobster pasta, and it was just as good as he described it. This place is delicious. Recently moved just down the street and figured I'd give it a try on a Friday night. Sat at the bar and loved the service from the bartender, Jennifer. She was knowledgeable about the menu and tended to our every need. We had the meat and cheese board for an app and it was very well presented and tasted delicious. Only thing lacking is it could use more bread. For an entree, I had the carbonara. I don't care how much anyone recommends another menu item, I'm getting this every time. It was amazing. Update: we returned and it seems as though this place has gone downhill. This time we sat in the dining room and they cram you in here to the point where you are sitting on top of the tables next to you. It was a bit awkward to have conversation as you could hear the tables next to you and you knew they could hear everything you say. The food was also not as good as we remembered before. I had the carbonara again and it just wasn't amazing this time. Not bad, but not good. There was also a good runner that kept getting the tables mixed up. He brought someone else's food for appetizer, dinner, and desert. Then they brought us the wrong check when trying to pay the bill. My biggest complaint is the overcrowding. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're right on top of your neighbors. You could barely get in or out of the booths on the wall because the tables were so close. Not only was our server Naomi, fantastic for the entire experience, the food followed the same trend. I had the chicken parm sandwich and my wife had the ahi tuna sandwich. Both were delicious and nicely portioned. The Caesar salad option was crisp, fresh and pleasantly peppered. My wife had the ahi tuna sandwich and expressed it to be one of the best meals she's had in quite a while. Together we shared the brussel sprouts appetizer. Though we asked for no bacon the Parmesan cheese and poached egg on top made the dish delectable. Highly recommended. This spot is cozy, classy and comforting. Glad our friends knew about this cozy place tucked away in Sandy Springs. Portions were large for lunch and the diverse menu satisfied our entire party. The chicken pasta dish (sorry can't remember the name) was tasty and filling, flavorful and perfect consistency of everything required in an Italian dish. Extra cheese? Mmmhm. My friend raves about the the parmigiana, so this time she tried the sandwich and ended up asking for more sauce because it's a little drier with bread versus noodles. Even the salads were good, although you won't catch me partaking in one of those at an Italian restaurant unless it's a Caesar in advance of something hearty with meat and cheese. And speaking of meat and cheese, the bolognese looked great and my colleague enjoyed as well. Southern compatibility update: no sweet tea, but they had simple syrup, so that's even better. Head to Bellina at Ponce City Market for the gold standard of carbonara in Atlanta. -Brisket canneloni: My husband really liked it. I had a signature lobster spaghetti which had a great flavor and lightly sauced. It was a bit salty to my taste, but still I enjoyed very much and would like to have it again! My friend ordered chicken sandwitch and cesar salade. I tasted a bite and those were also very tasty except somewhat salty. Such a hidden gem in sandy springs! Cool atmosphere, seats are comfortable, and waiting staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Food is amazing as well. My husband and I got the TRUFFLE PIZZA, orcchiette pasta, and veal Marsala. Every dish was delicious but if I had to pick my favorite, it would be the truffle pizza. Holy moly. Oh Cibo, how I love thee! My very first visit here was thanks to a very special Yelp Gold Elite dinner in May 2014, thanks to Chef Linda and Ben G. It was a 14 course dinner that left everyone at the event super full and satisfied. It was nice to get a sneak peak at all the new dishes that were being introduced to the menu that season. This event was when I discovered BURRATA cheese. Wow....words cannot express how much I love the creaminess of burrata cheese and Chef Linda and her team prepares the dish perfectly. The restaurant itself is cozy and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. It's always a good sign when they are busy throughout the entire week. I was able to visit Cibo last month with 10 of my lovely friends and we were lucky enough to sit at the Chef's table that night. Ryan was a fantastic server. He took great care of us. His energy and ability to make recommendations and accommodate all of us at one time was quite impressive. He was attentive and made sure our dining experience rocked. Thank you Ryan for being such a great server that night! We started out with the grilled brussels sprouts and sausage and peppers appetizers for the table. The grilled brussels sprouts is one of my favorite appetizers there next to the burrata cheese. It's topped with a soft boiled egg and grilled to perfection! The sausage and peppers appetizer was quite tasty. The sausages were cooked well and it was the right about of spice. I had to personally order the lasagna that night because I liked the idea of Chef Linda using two kinds of meat. Coincidentally, I haven't had lasagna in ages so really enjoyed my order. The lasagna was soft, creamy and the seasoning was just right. Other fan favorites from the table were the lamp chops, shrimp risotto and the wild salmon dish. I definitely want to return and try the Cibo burger soon! I'm looking forward to our "girl's night out" dinner later this month and can't wait to introduce new friends to this lovely restaurant. HUGE shout out to Chef Linda for making sure my 10 lovely friends got a chance to try her famous burrata cheese dish and the amazing gelato pie that is not always on the menu. All my friends enjoyed their very first visit to "Cibo" and because of our visit, there are plenty more friends who plan on visiting your restaurant soon! Thanks again to Chef Linda and her team for a lovely dining experience and taking care of all my dear friends that night with all of their requested dining needs.
