Highly recommend this place! The food was incredible! You get a free bowl of focaccia with a dipping sauce which was great (charge for refills). My favorite thing by far was the tomahawk steak special. It was $62 for 22 oz and came with a delicious cream sauce on the side. One of the best steaks I've had. I recommend making a reservation online as there was line

We had an OpenTable reservation for the earliest seating (4:30 PM) and arrived when only one other table was occupied. As a party of two, we were surprised to be seated at a very small table near the entrance to the outdoor dining area and directly beside a family with young children, despite there being plenty of open seating elsewhere in the restaurant. The table itself was barely large enough to accommodate our water glasses, a glass of wine, a beer, bread basket, and bread plates. Space quickly became an issue throughout the meal. When our shared tomahawk ribeye arrived, there would have been nowhere to place it had we not already finished our fried zucchini appetizer and bread. Fortunately, the food more than made up for the seating disappointment. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the tomahawk ribeye was excellent. Our only negatives were the table assignment and the challenge of finding street parking on a Sunday in Barrio Logan. In hindsight, we probably should have taken advantage of the valet parking option ($10 plus tip). We would definitely return for the food, but next time we'd likely request patio seating and hope for a more spacious table and a quieter location within the restaurant.

Cozy atmosphere, good food and great service. Roundup of what we ate: Complimentary focaccia and dipping sauce 5/5 - fluffy bread and yummy cheese and truffle oil dip Mushroom flan 5/5 - really unique and delicious Swordfish ravioli 1/5 - recommended by the chef but did not enjoy the flavors, just not for me, sauce was too fishy Mafalde Ragu dell'Aia 3/5 - comforting flavors and well cooked noodles but didn't stand out Pistachio cheesecake 5/5 - light and delicious Service was truly outstanding and food was good but didn't necessarily blow me away, considering the Michelin bib gourmand recognition. We were celebrating my husband's birthday but no special birthday treat was offered - not expected but nice when restaurants offer. All in all it was a nice meal but my expectations for the pasta were not met.

I've been to Ciccia Osteria three times now, once on my own, once with my mom, and most recently for a birthday dinner for five, and every visit has been a hit. We've tried a good portion of the menu. The mushroom flan is a must, think savory quiche. Favorites also include the barley salad, roasted vegetable salad, malfalde ragu, crab gnocchi, lasagna, ravioli, and the stuffed squash blossom. Everything was delicious and I'd order it all again. The only dish that didn't stand out was the zucchini. Desserts were just as good. We tried the pistachio, tiramisu, and panna cotta. I recommend their house wines and they also allow BYOB with a $22 corkage fee. A few things to know. Parking in Logan can be tough and they are closed on Tuesdays. Service is incredibly warm. The team is friendly and made our birthday feel special with photos and a cute Polaroid keepsake. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating plus a cozy fire pit area for larger groups. Such a hidden gem and I will definitely keep coming back

Authentic Italian food in Barrio Logan. Calamari appetizer is one of the best I had. The mushroom flan is also good. The prosciutto with melon was not that good. Papardelle is good, but would be better with some meat. Appetizers came out fast, but entrees took a while.

EVERYTHING here was so good, no need to go to Little Italy Honestly you should just ask the waiter what he recommends bc ours did not disappoint! We had: Peach/mango white sangria Mushroom flan- you have to get this bc as the waiter said, where else have you seen this? That and it's so delicious & comforting. Beef tortellini in pink sauce- from the specials menu, waiter recommended, it was flavorful and perfect combo of meat and cheese Sombreri - this pasta was light and unique to other dishes I've had. The menu said "delicate bell pepper sauce" and it's true- you can taste the bell pepper but it's not overpowering, and the saffron! The portions for everything was good too, in my opinion - not too much and the quality incredible. The service was great too, I can't wait to try more.

A little gem I'm glad my family found right here on Yelp! Parking was mostly street parking, with a little bit of a walk where we went but the food was well worth it! We were seated on the well covered patio with a fire in the middle to keep us warm. The table Had plenty of space for our party of 8. Our server kindly offered sparkling and still water while we waited for everyone to arrive. We also ordered a couple of spritzes which were nice and refreshing. For food, we started off with some delicious appetizers, the Mushroom Flan is a must try that my family was trying not to finish too quickly. The bread with the spread they offered was so soft and enjoyable to eat. I ordered an arrabbiata pasta, which was a little too much spice after a while, but I was more than half way done once I hit that point anyway! To help cool off my mouth I had an affogato which was simple, yet delicious! My family and I left very happy and if ever in the area, would love to visit again.

Ciccia is a hidden gem! Absolutely amazing authentic Italian food in the Barrio Logan that is so beautiful and makes you feel like your eating at a friends house in Italy. We met and talked with Chef Mario and he was also an amazing person who made our experience so welcoming. (: Chef Mario brings homemade Michelin Italian comfort to every plate using generations of family recipes, creating a dining experience that's warm, authentic, delicious. Even better? My friend is gluten-free, and they offer an entire gluten-free menu, including fresh gluten-free bread.

Fantastic! Wonderful service and food in a unique setting. My family ate here recently and can't wait to go back. We had seen such positive reviews on Yelp, Google and Open Table so we gave it a shot and were not disappointed. The owner was our server for the evening and it was a great experience. The pasta was very good and the giant antipasto boards were a hit with our whole party.

I visited this cozy n glowing lil Italian place tucked away in a very dark and unassuming neighborhood and it was pretty good. Service was nice, attentive and someone I can only assume was the owner/manager was very cheerful when welcoming my gf n I in for our anniversary dinner. Although one thing I wanted to point at was I wish we were sat away from the trees. They had webbing and I was wearing a new coat that day. Hopefully the layout adjusts. The food itself was very creative. I dont think I ever had...ANY of the menu items here at other restaurants. Full of bold flavors, also VERY HEAVY, be prepared to to-go nearly everything like I did. The malfade ragu was quite salty, but all the other items made up for it. Will probably come back to try even more pastas I never heard of! Hopefully theyre even better

My go to Italian restaurant in San Diego. All the pasta is homemade and its far enough away from downtown that street parking is free and not an issue. The service is fast and I love the variety in specials.

I came here for my birthday and really liked the unique atmosphere -- the restaurant is a converted house, which gives it a cozy, authentic Italian vibe that feels both homey and a little romantic. We had reservations for 7:30 and, even though we arrived a few minutes late, they were accommodating and seated us without issue. We started with the mushroom flan, which was absolutely delicious, and some bread with oil and butter -- the bread itself was soft and spongy, though it would have been much better warm. For drinks, I had the house Chianti (so good that my boyfriend, who started with a spritz, switched to the Chianti for his second round). For mains, I had the pappardelle; while the sauce was excellent, the pasta was a little too chewy for my taste. My boyfriend's lamb pasta was flavorful but a bit heavy on the lamb and not the most appealing to look at. Dessert ended on a high note with a peach and guava panna cotta that was light, refreshing, and very tasty. Overall, the portions were just right -- satisfying without being overwhelming. I'd come back to try more dishes, but I wouldn't necessarily choose it again for a special occasion. Still, it's a charming little spot with a few real standouts.

First get the mushroom flan. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get one or ten. I almost asked for another as soon as I was done. The atmosphere is very homey since it looked like a converted house to begin with. The prices were incredibly reasonable especially for how good everything was. It easily rivals places double and triple the price with food just as good. Loved the patio out by the fire and it was great for our large group!

Unfortunately on my morning walk this week, I noticed the restaurant is empty and there's a for lease sign up. To be honest, the food was good but not cravable --I never felt the need to go back. They have a really nice selection of both vegan and non vegan options. Ordered the Garlic Edamame, Karaage Bao Buns, and Crispy Gyoza. Garlic Edamame was delicious! It had that perfect combo of chili and the garlic was just right. And by just right I mean LOTS of garlic. Little side note, they didn't provide another dish to discard the eaten ones and also had to ask for plates which made a bit of a mess when you are sharing a bunch of small plates. Karaage Bao Buns were so good that we wound up ordering another order. If someone had ordered these and not told me they were vegan I would have never know. The texture of the Not chicken was perfect and the rest of the added flavors from the aioli's and garnish were well balanced. Our least favorite was the Crispy Gyoza. The ends were perfect combo but the middle was mush and the texture and flavor was not spectacular. It might have just been the cook but the the ingredients seemed like they were too wet when they were fried. Service was the absolute worst. Had to ask several times for our drinks when tables that were sat well after us all had theirs. I would come back in hopes the service was better but what a let down when we were there to celebrate and were ignored with the servers passing by us and not checking on us.

They had three veggie items on their menu (and one bean/rice/cheese burrito) and the "vegan option" was to remove the cheese. That didn't exactly leave us with answers about how their beans are cooked or if they used butter or crema in anything else. there are two self serve ordering kiosks and this place was open late and popping off so staff was busy/too busy to answer questions. it looked like people typically order a LOT of food too. i got one keto taco and a side of beans and my vegan bf got a veggie quesadilla w/o cheese. there is a salsa bar to the side with 5-6 available choices but all of them are marked as spicy. they called my name so i went up to the counter. there wasn't any food on it and the guy was busy talking to someone so i just waited. then he went to the mic and called my name again, saying my order was ready. i was like "hi..that's me!" and then he asked the kitchen for my order. like, what? you called my name twice and my order wasn't even on the window? baby, take a beat. the food looked pretty good! it came out on a tray with pickled onions, sliced red radishes, and a lime wedge. presentation was lovely. the table next to us got these dope looking nachos that immediately gave me fomo. the quesadilla was huge and had a bunch of chopped veggies in it. but of course, without cheese or any binding agent, it all fell apart with the first bite. i was more annoyed with my bf than the restaurant for that, but he said it still tasted good and filling if not difficult and disappointing to eat. mine tasted fine. i've had really great mexican food in sd and i get that birria is a specific vibe, but what kind of place does ONLY birria and then sells the consome separately?
