I imagine it would be especially nice later in the evening once it gets dark, although we were there before sunset. Our only hiccup was the initial seating. We were placed at a table tucked in the back that felt like it barely fit in the space. It was so tight that I could hardly pull my chair out. We asked if we could move, and were first offered a table outside right by the entrance, which was pretty busy with people constantly walking in and out. I asked if there was anything else available inside, and they were able to accommodate us in the main dining room near the bar, which we really appreciated. The restaurant was already bustling, which wasn't surprising for a Friday evening. The menu is divided into hot and cold dishes, and we ordered the crudo, kale salad, Brussels sprouts, lamb hummus, and sea bass. Everything came out incredibly fast. Even though it's a tapas-style restaurant, the portions were actually generous compared to many other tapas spots where the plates can be tiny. Our favorite dish was definitely the Brussels sprouts. The creamy pomegranate sauce was absolutely delicious. The sea bass was also pretty good and paired with the same pomegranate molasses cream sauce. I've been wanting to try Bacari for the longest time. The Mediterranean-inspired tapas menu sounded right up my alley, so we finally made reservations the night before. There were actually a lot of reservation times still available, which surprised me, but I'd still recommend making one just to be safe. Since it's in North Park, we parked in the garage directly across the street. It was about $5, but if you don't mind walking a little farther, you can probably find street parking around the neighborhood. When we arrived, they let us know they were running about 10 minutes behind on reservations. No big deal. The front of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, so I spent the extra time taking pictures. The menu definitely takes a few minutes to look through because there are so many options. Bacari recommends ordering two to three plates per person to share, which I think is the best way to experience the menu. They also offer a weekday happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. with discounted food and drinks. We definitely ordered more than we needed because everything sounded so good. We ended up getting the House Baked Baguette, Barramundi Crudo, Moroccan Cigars, Charred Broccoli, Lamb Hummus, Mediterranean Street Corn, Sea Bass, Glazed Pork Belly, and for my drink I ordered the "It's a Bird, It's a Plane." I wasn't really sure what to expect from the cocktail because the ingredient list sounded all over the place, but it ended up drinking more like a fruity punch. It was light, refreshing, and really easy to drink. We were seated at one of the two-person tables, so I was a little worried we'd run out of room with everything we ordered. Surprisingly, the kitchen paced each dish really well, so the table never felt crowded. I really appreciated that because some restaurants don't think about timing when serving tapas. The only downside was the chairs. They fit the aesthetic, but after sitting for a while they weren't the most comfortable. We started with the House Baked Baguette because I'd heard so many people recommend it. The garlic oil was delicious, especially with the roasted garlic, but the bread itself was only slightly warm and a little harder than I expected. It wasn't bad, but I'd probably skip it next time. The Moroccan Cigars absolutely lived up to the hype. Crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside, and paired perfectly with the tangy pickled onions. The toum crema completely stole the show. We found ourselves dipping other dishes into it because it was that good. My favorite dish of the night was easily the crudo. It disappeared in what felt like two minutes. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The fish was delicate and buttery. The lemon added just the right amount of brightness, and the herbs tied everything together perfectly. The Charred Broccoli had a nice char, but the harissa tahini leaned a little too salty for me. Funny enough, dipping it into the leftover Moroccan Cigars sauce completely changed the dish. We enjoyed it much more that way. We also tried the Lamb Hummus after hearing so many good things about it. The pita was warm and fluffy, although I wish it had been toasted a little more. Unfortunately, neither of us loved the hummus itself. We both enjoy hummus and lamb, but something felt off to us. The Sea Bass was another standout. The skin was perfectly crispy while the fish stayed flaky and buttery inside. Every bite with the corn, shishito peppers, sauce, and a squeeze of the grilled lemon was incredible. Definitely don't skip the grilled lemon because it really brightens the whole dish. The Mediterranean Street Corn was good, but it didn't wow me like some of the other dishes. It reminded me of a Mediterranean version of elote. I liked the crispy shallots, but I was hoping the hazelnut pistachio chili crunch would stand out a little more. By this point we were getting pretty full. We had actually finished every dish on the table before the Glazed Pork Belly arrived. It took about another 15 minutes, although our server checked in a few times to let us know it was still coming. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. Some pieces were so overcooked they were difficult to chew, while others were noticeably burnt. Looking back at my photos with the flash on, you can really see how dark some of the pork was. It just wasn't enjoyable, especially after waiting longer for it than any other dish. Our server was wonderful throughout the meal. She checked on us often and asked what we thought of the pork belly. I was honest and told her it tasted burnt and a little dry. Without us even asking, she immediately offered to remove it from the bill, which I really appreciated. That level of service definitely left a good impression. Pretty extensive list of plates and suggest 2-3 per person. We enjoyed both the Bacarita (watermelon marg) and the Olena Heat (think health shot with mezcal) and both were delicious and well-balanced. The Moroccan cigars were definitely the favorite, but everything was delicious. Shoutout to Zoe who brought out champagne and dessert! She made our night special. The only hiccup was that the dessert came out about 20 minutes after the hummus, and we still had another dish to come. We waited another 20 and when it didn't come, ate the dessert and about 10 minutes after we finished they brought our last dish (chicken sliders). I've been to a couple Bacari's In LA. I've always enjoyed their food and the ambiance has always been so welcoming. Ive been to this particular Bacari twice now. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Our brunch experience was pleasant. We had a reservation for 12:15Pm. Originally it was for five people and we were able to easily change it to 7 people. At arrival, we were greeted and was told we'd be dining upstairs. We waited maybe 10minutes while they made sure the tables were put together. The building they chose to house Bacari is beautiful. I was told that the building had been unoccupied for many years. I found it fitting for Bacari with its Spanish colonial architecture. I lived in New orleans for several years and it was reminiscent of their Spanish Colonial Architecture. Anyway- our server's name was Celeste. She was very attentive and friendly. She was patient as we selected our choices. We had about 14 tapas but I cant remember them all. I just remembered the Lamb Hummus, Chickpea hash, Ceviche, Bacari fries with bacon, Jidori Chicken, chicken schnitzel, schwarma tacos, beef bureka, chilaquiles, and brussel sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious. The timing and pacing of each dish was perfect. We were absolutely full and almost canceled the chicken and the fries. They did accidentally give us a dish we did not order which was the Sabich. One thing we wanted to highlight was the vibe. For a place that's been poppin since its San Diego opening, Bacari has done an amazing job of getting it done right and handling the flow of crowds. Made a reservation for a friend and I two nights ago and before the moment we had even stepped inside the restaurant, we were already taken care of by their staff (and tbh, you don't experience good service like that nowadays). For me, I did appreciate the courtesy/reminder texts before my reservation because most of the "hip" restaurants I've been to never done that. Then again, maybe it's because I was using OpenTable to book, so I didn't expect some additional connection with the restaurant in that sense lol. Okay! Let's talk about food! My friend and I shared the Moroccan cigars, Brussels sprouts, Chicken schnitzel, and Mac and cheese (it's recommended to get at least 3 or more dishes to share because serving size is tapa style). We were both a fan of the Moroccan cigars and have been told it's one of our server's favorite dishes too. I had my doubts about "the best cake" because all of their other desserts sounded better to me, but the best cake lived up to its name! Do not hesitate to order it. I love being able to taste a little bit of everything! We ordered several dishes and every component of each dish was SO flavorful, but not overpowering or too rich. My favorite was the lamb hummus (pictured) which also came with pita bread that was so soft and warm. I absolutely love their service style where all staff works together. You're assigned a main server, but can ask any waiter/waitress for something if you see them walking by without feeling like you're overstepping. Our party of 2 made a reservation for a Thursday night at 5:30pm and I'm so glad we did because the place started filling up fast. As with most other establishments in North Park, give yourself enough time to look for street parking. I was able to snag a spot a few blocks away. Unfortunately my group and I had a poor experience last night. I checked in for my 9 PM reservation at 8:55 PM. The outside (and inside) of the restaurant was super crowded. When I checked in for the reservation, the host let me know they were backed up but my party would get sat "in 10 minutes". No worries. We were coming for the 90 minute open bar and needed to be out at 1030 PM for another event. Unfortunately we did not get sat until 930 PM which was an issue. I totally get this was not in anyone's control, but it would've gone a long way to acknowledge how long we waited past our reservation time. (Maybe offer a drink while we waited?). Additionally I would have appreciated a more accurate quote versus underquoting the wait time. Just be honest. Getting sat so late made my group feel stressed because now we only had 60 minutes to drink as much wine as we could from the open bar lol. It's been a consistent trend that the service is very slow, it takes so long to get drinks from the bar. Our food came out before our first round of wine. If you're doing the open bar you should immediately order it when you sit down (we did do this but still took forever). You should also already order the next round when the drinks get dropped off. The last comment is that the food took a while as well. I was on the verge of wanting to cancel the ceviche order because it took so extremely long and we finished eating. We ended up receiving a mac & cheese that had bacon, but the server apologized and had it fixed. Although it took 20 mins for us to get the right mac. It is pricey - but felt that the food and the service was worth every penny. Our servers were professional and gave great recommendations. They're worth going back for alone. We also loved the Brussels sprouts, perfectly crispy and topped with a pomegranate molasses crème fraîche that balanced sweet and tangy. One of the best meals I have had in a while! The wait staff are so incredible- I watched the GM Andrew help a father visiting from New York helped surprise his daughter for her birthday... talk about going above and beyond! In addition to the service in ambience being insane, the food was perfect. I was blown away by the portion sizes for two people, we got so much food and only spent $120. I've been to the locations in LA and didn't know they had a San Diego location!!! I made a reservation for my friend's birthday and it was an amazing experience. They brought out complimentary champagne and even offered a dessert on the house! The food was also amazing. I'm so glad that the lamb hummus probably my favorite thing on the menu is consistent at all locations. The lamb hummus is spiced, savory and creamy and the veggies and pita add a nice fresh contrast to the hummus. We also tried the pork chop, scallops, and cauliflower. Everything was well seasoned and super flavorful. The scallops with the carrot puree was buttery, tender and sweet from the carrots. The pork chop was juicy and tender with parmesan crust which added an amazing crunchy texture to the pork chops along with the sweet onions served with it The ambiance was also a 10/10 with low lighting but I will say it was a bit loud and the service was attentive as well. Great food, great ambiance and great service! Perfect spot for a girl dinner and can't wait to come back and try more! Only notes would be scallop was a little over cooked, cauliflower was a little underwhelming and i wish the shrimp ceviche was cut up/more evenly distributed, but that's just me being overly nit picky, everything was great all in all and the steak is a must order! Text went out on a Saturday morning. Brunch 11:30 in North Park at Bacari. When we arrived, I thought the place looked familiar. I had been here before. Turns out this is the location of the old urban solace restaurant that was famous for brunch in North Park pre-pandemic. Who got seated on the patio and ordered a couple drinks. for the Bacarita which is tequila, watermelon, jalapeño, basil, and lime. I opted for Lalo as my preferred tequila. The drink was quite tasty and refreshing; a light watermelon margarita. Not syrupy and had a little bit of spicy. The newly opened (Feb 2026) North Park location is one of 9 currently with the other locations all in LA. They focus on Mediterranean and middle eastern influenced dishes done in a small plate / tapas style. We wanted to try as much as possible so we ended up with quite a spread. Bottom line we all really liked what we had. Even the critical things we mentioned and the ranking we did amongst the dishes, we all admitted that all things we had were good and we would order again. Even if we said it was our "least favorite." We started with the egg pizza. What is an egg pizza? We all were curious. We have had breakfast pizzas at a few brunch spots in the past, but I couldn't find any info on it on Yelp. (Don't worry I shared a picture with this review too.) This version is on a thin almost cracker / lavash crust with fromage blanc, caramelized onion, mixed greens, and mozzarella. It was tasty. Not super filling, good to share and the flavors melded well. I was also curious about lamb hummus and we saw it on a neighboring table. The dish is braised ground lamb, spiced lebanese stew, sesame, and tahini served with fresh pita and veggies. I liked it. It got mixed results from some of my dining party, but I liked the flavors. A little on the heavier side we also tried the tofu scramble and the beef bureka. The tofu scramble had the tofu pieces that looked like egg seasoned with a pomegranate sweet chili, mixed with roasted bell pepper, kale, spanish onion, and served with two pieces of grilled baguette. The beef bureka, and forgive the crude description, is kind of a hot pocket but with a much lighter, flakey crust filled with seasoned ground beef, onion jam, cabbage, pistachio, and topped with black caraway seed served with grated tomato and a 6-minute egg hard boiled egg. On a lighter side we tried two dishes. The shrimp ceviche made with citrus, fennel vinaigrette, heirloom cherry tomato, cucumber, flavored with za'atar, sesame, and sumac and served with lime chili chips, we loved the freshness and the flavors. The lime chili chips in contrast to the more citrus seafood and cucumbers was nice. We also tried the crudo barramundi. Which we saw being delivered to another table and had to try it. It is the fish with a herbed cucumber relish, seasoned with za'atar, sumac, lemon, frantoia olive oil, sesame, and salt. While I will miss the old blue grass brunches of its former inhabitant, Bacari has such flavorful dishes it is a worthy replacement and a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

Service here was 100/10!! They were really attentive to us and friendly. We felt very welcomed and cared for. The restaurant has a romantic vibe, we were sat at the outside patio in the corner to ourselves which we rly liked. We were told this is a tapa style restaurant but we thought the portions were actually pretty big. Food was delicious and I especially liked their hummus. Ceviche was pretty solid tho I did wish it came with plain tortilla chips rather than seasoned. It tasted a bit like Doritos. Would come back again for the vibes~ read more

My friend told me about this place last month, it just opened in Feb 2026. It was completely packed, and I was so glad I made a reservation. The menu is wild, with so many unique and creative dishes. Our server gave me amazing recommendations, so we just went with those, and I was honestly blown away by how fresh and flavorful everything was, the bar kept getting higher and higher. :-) Service was super attentive, they were really on top of it. It was very loud and crowded, but honestly, I can't complain because the food was on point and so delectable. Dish after dish came out, and each one kept impressing me more. The desserts were the perfect ending to an incredible meal. Can't wait to go back and try more items, and when I go to LA looks like have 4 restaurants there too. read more

The place was gorgeous ! We sat on the second level inside and all the food was so good! We got the Moroccan cigars which is a must, the scallops amazing, shawarma tacos were good, def could use more sauce, the chicken sliders were delicious. The only food item we got that was not great was the Bacari burger, we ordered it face open, when we cut into the burger they did not cook it to the temp we asked and there was no flavor to the burger at all, would not recommend but everything else was fantastic! The service was not the best, they say they all work as the team but honestly other than the guy who told us that no one else ever really came to our table and even then he barely came which made the 90 minute 30 something drink special a little hard but it was okay, we did the white wine on that option and it was a decent whit wine and they did a hefty pour which compensated for the lack of service. Parking situation wise I couldn't say as we ubered to the destination and wait time we couldn't say as we made sure to make reservations and we made the reservation roughly two weeks in advance. Not too sure what the big fuss is about this place. I booked this reservation well in a month of advance and our table was upstairs behind the door. The fiancé literally couldn't move. I had a squeeze in my chair as the other couple who were sitting behind me was a bigger couple if you are on the overweight side, this is not a place for you as it is a very tight seating restaurant. I had one drink which was ok. The bread and garlic olive was nice. But warning if you order another bread it doesn't come with garlic olive oil and it's an extra charge. The pesto was good but the burrata cheese it tasted like you can just get it at the grocery store The wings were ok server said they are spicy they were not and felt like I can make better wings. We had the tacos as well which were decent but the total for 2 breads, 3 small tacos, 6 wings and one drink was 85 bucks and we were still hungry but they forgot our extra bread we ordered which took 30 mins to get. Happy Hour is our jam. My Yelpie Bestie and I like to go to new places for that period so we can get a taste of a restaurant's menu. Bacari is a new place in my neighborhood, read some of the reviews by my fellow Elites and it was mixed. It is very popular for HH. There are more seats at the first floor bar than in the 2nd floor so eventhough it was early when we went, there was none left for us in the 2nd floor. If you do the HH on the first floor, your sunglasses if they are dark like mine will be of no use. Sunglasses are for me to observe my fellow patrons and hide my hideous bags under my eyes. I digress back to the review. HH is $2 off the main menu which is a long list of choices, some higher priced depending on the type of item you order. We order several to sample their cuisine. Crudo, flat iron steak, olives (almonds) and the glazed pork belly. We had drinks, still on my non-alcoholic drink tour. I had Salt and Solace. My opinion on their food, crudo (plenty for 2-3 people esp if you have other items), pork belly sweet and dark (crunchy) glazed. You definitely neede to squeeze that lemon to tamper the sweetness. I still enjoyed it. The steak, nicely presented and cut but don't order medium, it was a bit reddish and since this was flat iron, it became chewy. I would take it home and sear it more. But with the small leftovers left we played doggie bag roulette (pork belly vs steak). I got pork belly. Overall, I think its a nice place to eat at for HH, dinner maybe, it was fairly crowded for a Friday late afternoon/early evening. The only glitch in this fast paced service was getting the right bill. I don't blame them too much but first, the HH discount wasn't applied (so check your check) and then our other friend got the wrong bill when she was paying. Four of us went there for a birthday celebration for dinner on a Tuesday night. We tried a little bit of everything on the menu. It is tapa style and delicious! They have something for everybody, regardless of your nutritional preference. They have a great deal for drinks that is like $35 and you get 90 minutes to drink what you want from the beer, wine and well drinks. The waitress Olivia is amazing! Very pretty inside or outside on the patio. Lively music, but not too loud. We had a blast and will definitely be back! read more

I've been seeing this place trending on my timeline and I finally got to try it! My girlfriends and I came around 5:30pm. Definitely recommend making a reservation as this place fills up quickly! The decor and ambiance of this place is so cute and cozy especially with the windows inside with natural light. You already know parking in the area can be difficult, but there's plenty available in the lot and on the street. The service and food were both amazing here!! It's tapa style so 2-3 dishes per person are recommended to try and share. We definitely over did it with wanting to try everything, but we don't regret it one bit haha. I'm coming back to try more items on the menu because there are sooooo many yummy options. Absolutely such a cute restaurant. One thing is everything is very small bites so there's a lot of sharing so don't come here expecting to like eat your own meal and not being hungry afterwards because they're very small wife mind you I barely eat myself and I still needed to like have a couple of dishes do not order the Seabass. It was full of bones. I would not serve it that way and I really had no flavor. Everything else. The pork chop the pizza. The steak was whatever it was kind of dry, but that kale salad was delicious. Make sure that you have a jacket if you do come to the balcony cause it's super cold in service is a little spot and spot on one moment it took per minute, but they didn't inform her that we were sitting at the same time.
