Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to get a reservation same day. It gets busy so reservations are recommended. This place is like a tapa place, so shareable. We had the Jadori chicken wings, Shakshouka and the crab cake Benedict. My favorite was the crab cake. My least was probably the chicken wings. It's a bit pricey but worth a try. Bacari is so good! The experience you're going to have here is that you order several plates to share with your table, and you'll love every single one of them (or at least most of them). I didn't think that the taco-type dish I had was very good, but OMG I could happily eat the homemade pita and nothing else for the rest of my life. The chew?? You're kidding. They have a great 'all-you-can-drink' for about $35 that is limited (no specialty cocktails) but still a great deal. The ambiance is very pretty, and the service was S-tier. Ambiance was fun but very loud inside, decor is New Orleans and there's a covered patio and seating at the bar. The spacing inside was very tight and we kept getting knocked by those passing by both diners and servers - not ideal. So excited to try this newly opened restaurant. Walking in I found myself transported to the French quarter in New Orleans, with wrought iron and dulled colors. We walked to the beautiful upstairs space, but couldn't find 3 stools at the bars so ended up back downstairs. It ended up being fine, since the bartenders were quite attentive and it's always fun to watch the action. I started with a sangria, nothing fancy. We ordered the olives and marcona almonds, crudo and steak. It was recommended to order 2-3 plates to share per person. But this was more than enough. The crudo was good. The barramundi came with a thin slice of lemon on each piece of fish. I found the flat iron steak a bit chewy and not cooked to medium doneness as we requested. It was served over bernaise sauce with zucchini. Our friend ordered scallops, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. Came here this past weekend for brunch. First thoughts were how well decorated the outdoor patio and indoor bar area both were. I was able to get a last minute reservation but think we would have been ok without one around noon. For drinks, I had the Bacarita and made it spicy. This was very good! For food, we shared amongst two people and got the Jidori chicken wings. These were super saucy and came with a housemade blue cheese dip. We also got the Shakshouka which came with a delicious fresh bread to dip it in. Last dish was the Crab Cake Benedict. This tasted super fresh! I was so excited to check out Bacari, after years of wondering what would be next to True North, I was so excited to see a new restaurant open up. My friend Shay made reservations for us to check he and his girl friend had come for dinner before and were so impressed he wanted to check out their brunch and I was so excited. The restaurant itself reminded me of rustic streets of Italy, which is definitely fitting, I love the cobblestone floors but definitely hard to walk on if you're wearing heels. Our server was really friendly and let us take our time ordering food. The plates are on the smaller side, I opted to order the crab cake benedict and the best cake with ice cream, I wasn't in the mood to drink so I just had a coke. When our food arrived I was pretty excited to see how quickly things came out, an order of fries that we shared and some ceviche I got to try, I really liked the flavor from my crab cake, I loved how citrusy the hollandaise was and I thought for the size it was really crab filled. I know some of my friends had issues with the food inconsistences but my only issue was towards the end, I was waiting for my cake, my friends ordered food after our initial order came out and I was still waiting for mine to the point of having to ask our server what the status was on the cake. Initially she asked if I wanted it all at the same time and I said yes. When it finally did come I was a little underwhelmed. the crispy bacon did not pair well with the cake and the consistency of the cake was just off, it was very sandy? It felt like what I would think kinetic sand feels if you ate it. I would probably say no to that cake, I wish I had ordered another savory dish. Snagged a door-bust Resy on a Saturday morning. Service was friendly and all the servers help each other get orders in and plates and drinks out. Tapas-style Mediterranean food with great flavors. Pretty extensive list of plates and suggest 2-3 per person. We enjoyed both the Bacarita (watermelon marg) and the Olena Heat (think health shot with mezcal) and both were delicious and well-balanced. For food: -Turkish Egg: sous vide with labneh, crunchy shallots, hazelnut and pistachio chili crisp with some warm and toasty sesame flatbread; loved this -Beef Bureka: like a Turkish hot pocket with delicious savory beef and 6 minute eggs-just like I like them -Bacari Fries: smothered fries with a fried egg on top -Shawarma Tacos: actually really enjoyed these, sumac spice, not too complicated with chicken and shredded cabbage; comforting and familiar with a Turkish twist; comes with either 3 or 4 -Charred broccoli: great as a side but this came out first -Chicken Shnitzel: crispy fried chicken with a an arugula salad; great little dish They suggest you order all the plates at once so they can course it out for you. I've been wanting to check this place out ever since it opened a few months ago, and I finally made a reservation for an early Friday happy hour/dinner. I remember when this location used to be a brunch spot years ago, although I couldn't really remember what the inside looked like. The new space is beautiful, with plenty of seating both indoors and outside. The interior definitely has more of a vibe, with dark wood accents and a full bar. I imagine it would be especially nice later in the evening once it gets dark, although we were there before sunset. Our only hiccup was the initial seating. We were placed at a table tucked in the back that felt like it barely fit in the space. It was so tight that I could hardly pull my chair out. We asked if we could move, and were first offered a table outside right by the entrance, which was pretty busy with people constantly walking in and out. I asked if there was anything else available inside, and they were able to accommodate us in the main dining room near the bar, which we really appreciated. The restaurant was already bustling, which wasn't surprising for a Friday evening. The menu is divided into hot and cold dishes, and we ordered the crudo, kale salad, Brussels sprouts, lamb hummus, and sea bass. Everything came out incredibly fast. Even though it's a tapas-style restaurant, the portions were actually generous compared to many other tapas spots where the plates can be tiny. Our favorite dish was definitely the Brussels sprouts. The creamy pomegranate sauce was absolutely delicious. The sea bass was also pretty good and paired with the same pomegranate molasses cream sauce. The crudo was fresh, light, and refreshing with za'atar and bright lemon flavors. The restaurant was already bustling, which wasn't surprising for a Friday evening. One thing we did notice is that it gets pretty loud inside. It wasn't the music--it was more the overall noise level from conversations echoing throughout the dining room. We found ourselves having to speak louder than usual to hear each other across the table. I've been wanting to try Bacari for the longest time. The Mediterranean-inspired tapas menu sounded right up my alley, so we finally made reservations the night before. There were actually a lot of reservation times still available, which surprised me, but I'd still recommend making one just to be safe. Since it's in North Park, we parked in the garage directly across the street. It was about $5, but if you don't mind walking a little farther, you can probably find street parking around the neighborhood. When we arrived, they let us know they were running about 10 minutes behind on reservations. No big deal. The front of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, so I spent the extra time taking pictures. The menu definitely takes a few minutes to look through because there are so many options. Bacari recommends ordering two to three plates per person to share, which I think is the best way to experience the menu. They also offer a weekday happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. with discounted food and drinks. We definitely ordered more than we needed because everything sounded so good. We ended up getting the House Baked Baguette, Barramundi Crudo, Moroccan Cigars, Charred Broccoli, Lamb Hummus, Mediterranean Street Corn, Sea Bass, Glazed Pork Belly, and for my drink I ordered the "It's a Bird, It's a Plane." I wasn't really sure what to expect from the cocktail because the ingredient list sounded all over the place, but it ended up drinking more like a fruity punch. It was light, refreshing, and really easy to drink. We were seated at one of the two-person tables, so I was a little worried we'd run out of room with everything we ordered. Surprisingly, the kitchen paced each dish really well, so the table never felt crowded. I really appreciated that because some restaurants don't think about timing when serving tapas. The only downside was the chairs. They fit the aesthetic, but after sitting for a while they weren't the most comfortable. We started with the House Baked Baguette because I'd heard so many people recommend it. The garlic oil was delicious, especially with the roasted garlic, but the bread itself was only slightly warm and a little harder than I expected. It wasn't bad, but I'd probably skip it next time. The Moroccan Cigars absolutely lived up to the hype. Crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside, and paired perfectly with the tangy pickled onions. The toum crema completely stole the show. We found ourselves dipping other dishes into it because it was that good. My favorite dish of the night was easily the crudo. It disappeared in what felt like two minutes. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The fish was delicate and buttery. The lemon added just the right amount of brightness, and the herbs tied everything together perfectly. The Charred Broccoli had a nice char, but the harissa tahini leaned a little too salty for me. Funny enough, dipping it into the leftover Moroccan Cigars sauce completely changed the dish. We enjoyed it much more that way. We also tried the Lamb Hummus after hearing so many good things about it. The pita was warm and fluffy, although I wish it had been toasted a little more. Unfortunately, neither of us loved the hummus itself. We both enjoy hummus and lamb, but something felt off to us. The Sea Bass was another standout. The skin was perfectly crispy while the fish stayed flaky and buttery inside. Every bite with the corn, shishito peppers, sauce, and a squeeze of the grilled lemon was incredible. Definitely don't skip the grilled lemon because it really brightens the whole dish. The Mediterranean Street Corn was good, but it didn't wow me like some of the other dishes. It reminded me of a Mediterranean version of elote. I liked the crispy shallots, but I was hoping the hazelnut pistachio chili crunch would stand out a little more. By this point we were getting pretty full. We had actually finished every dish on the table before the Glazed Pork Belly arrived. It took about another 15 minutes, although our server checked in a few times to let us know it was still coming. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. Some pieces were so overcooked they were difficult to chew, while others were noticeably burnt. Looking back at my photos with the flash on, you can really see how dark some of the pork was. It just wasn't enjoyable, especially after waiting longer for it than any other dish. Our server was wonderful throughout the meal. She checked on us often and asked what we thought of the pork belly. I was honest and told her it tasted burnt and a little dry. Without us even asking, she immediately offered to remove it from the bill, which I really appreciated. That level of service definitely left a good impression. Between the huge menu, happy hour, and brunch offerings, I already know I'll be back because there are still so many dishes I want to try. I think Bacari is a great addition to North Park. read more

Vibes perfect, food incredible, service great! I was so overwhelmed trying to decide what to get from this menu and from reading everyone's reviews, it seemed like everything was good - and it was! The Moroccan cigars were definitely the favorite, but everything was delicious. Shoutout to Zoe who brought out champagne and dessert! She made our night special. The only hiccup was that the dessert came out about 20 minutes after the hummus, and we still had another dish to come. We waited another 20 and when it didn't come, ate the dessert and about 10 minutes after we finished they brought our last dish (chicken sliders). I definitely assumed that was not coming, but they boxed it and comped it which was above what we expected! Love that it was complementary as we were celebrating a birthday. Always a nice touch. The presentation wasn't appealing, but the flavor was good. Flat iron steak- excellent cook, flavorful. Scallop medallions- we LOVED the corn salad that accompanied the scallops. The scallops themselves were very overdone. Chef's salmon- good flavor, overdone as well. Sea bass- crispy skin, flakey, moist. This was my favorite seafood dish. Glazed pork belly- excellent flavor. Brussels sprouts- crispy! Bacari fries ADD BACON. Asian pear & brie pizza- light, crispy, sweet. Great ending to our meal. Pistachio cremeschnitette- very close to a baklava. Delivious. I've been to a couple Bacari's In LA. I've always enjoyed their food and the ambiance has always been so welcoming. Ive been to this particular Bacari twice now. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Our brunch experience was pleasant. We had a reservation for 12:15Pm. Originally it was for five people and we were able to easily change it to 7 people. At arrival, we were greeted and was told we'd be dining upstairs. We waited maybe 10minutes while they made sure the tables were put together. The building they chose to house Bacari is beautiful. I was told that the building had been unoccupied for many years. I found it fitting for Bacari with its Spanish colonial architecture. I lived in New orleans for several years and it was reminiscent of their Spanish Colonial Architecture. Anyway- our server's name was Celeste. She was very attentive and friendly. She was patient as we selected our choices. We had about 14 tapas but I cant remember them all. I just remembered the Lamb Hummus, Chickpea hash, Ceviche, Bacari fries with bacon, Jidori Chicken, chicken schnitzel, schwarma tacos, beef bureka, chilaquiles, and brussel sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious. The timing and pacing of each dish was perfect. We were absolutely full and almost canceled the chicken and the fries. They did accidentally give us a dish we did not order which was the Sabich. One thing we wanted to highlight was the vibe. For a place that's been poppin since its San Diego opening, Bacari has done an amazing job of getting it done right and handling the flow of crowds. Made a reservation for a friend and I two nights ago and before the moment we had even stepped inside the restaurant, we were already taken care of by their staff (and tbh, you don't experience good service like that nowadays). For me, I did appreciate the courtesy/reminder texts before my reservation because most of the "hip" restaurants I've been to never done that. Then again, maybe it's because I was using OpenTable to book, so I didn't expect some additional connection with the restaurant in that sense lol. Okay! Let's talk about food! My friend and I shared the Moroccan cigars, Brussels sprouts, Chicken schnitzel, and Mac and cheese (it's recommended to get at least 3 or more dishes to share because serving size is tapa style). We were both a fan of the Moroccan cigars and have been told it's one of our server's favorite dishes too. Some small negatives for our first time: The seating arrangement wasn't the most ideal for our party of two (since we were placed next to the door to the outside area and it felt crammed in the corner), but we still had a good time. I didn't get a chance to take many pictures at this restauraunt because we were so hungry, but it did not disappoint! This is definitely my type of restauraunt - vibey, good music, tapas style. I love being able to taste a little bit of everything! We ordered several dishes and every component of each dish was SO flavorful, but not overpowering or too rich. My favorite was the lamb hummus (pictured) which also came with pita bread that was so soft and warm. I absolutely love their service style where all staff works together. You're assigned a main server, but can ask any waiter/waitress for something if you see them walking by without feeling like you're overstepping. Our party of 2 made a reservation for a Thursday night at 5:30pm and I'm so glad we did because the place started filling up fast. As with most other establishments in North Park, give yourself enough time to look for street parking. I was able to snag a spot a few blocks away. Vibes: I loved the NOLA vibes that it gives off from the front of the building and from the balcony. The place surprisingly has plenty of space and seating available. All of downstairs is considered outdoor but covered by the patio. The upstairs tables are mostly indoors with a couple tables available on the balcony. There were many 2-4 person tables, some bar seating, and it looked like there was a larger party downstairs. Service: Shout out to Daniel and Amy for providing great service, explaining the menu well, and giving feedback/tips on how much food we should consider for our party size. Food/Drinks: For us two, we ordered 5 plates of food which was plenty and even had leftovers. We ordered -Crudo ($14.50) -Tripoline Pasta ($14) -Charred Broccoli ($13.50): wouldn't order again -Jidori Chicken Wings ($15): 5-6 pieces -Brussel Sprouts ($15.50) If I were to choose my favorites from this selection, I'd say I enjoyed the Crudo and Brussel Sprouts the most (the crème fraiche drizzled on top was delicious). Unfortunately my group and I had a poor experience last night. I checked in for my 9 PM reservation at 8:55 PM. The outside (and inside) of the restaurant was super crowded. When I checked in for the reservation, the host let me know they were backed up but my party would get sat "in 10 minutes". No worries. We were coming for the 90 minute open bar and needed to be out at 1030 PM for another event. Unfortunately we did not get sat until 930 PM which was an issue. I totally get this was not in anyone's control, but it would've gone a long way to acknowledge how long we waited past our reservation time. (Maybe offer a drink while we waited?). Additionally I would have appreciated a more accurate quote versus underquoting the wait time. Just be honest. Getting sat so late made my group feel stressed because now we only had 60 minutes to drink as much wine as we could from the open bar lol. It's been a consistent trend that the service is very slow, it takes so long to get drinks from the bar. Our food came out before our first round of wine. If you're doing the open bar you should immediately order it when you sit down (we did do this but still took forever). You should also already order the next round when the drinks get dropped off. The last comment is that the food took a while as well. I was on the verge of wanting to cancel the ceviche order because it took so extremely long and we finished eating. We ended up receiving a mac & cheese that had bacon, but the server apologized and had it fixed. Although it took 20 mins for us to get the right mac. Our lineup included the fresh baguette with garlic olive oil, crudo, Moroccan cigars, Bacari fries, Brussels sprouts, chef's salmon, and pear and brie pizza. The clear standout was the Moroccan cigars; the most Mediterranean inspired dish of the night and easily our favorite. Think of them as a Mediterranean style egg roll: a crispy exterior filled with lamb, chicken, and warm spices, served with a honey garlic glaze and a toum crema dipping sauce that I could genuinely drink. They're worth going back for alone. We also loved the Brussels sprouts, perfectly crispy and topped with a pomegranate molasses crème fraîche that balanced sweet and tangy. The rest of the items were solid across the board, although not especially memorable and I would probably try different items next time. The wait staff are so incredible- I watched the GM Andrew help a father visiting from New York helped surprise his daughter for her birthday... talk about going above and beyond! This place needs work. Watch your bill, this place severely overcharged us ($323 for 2 people for the below; $161.61 each). Awesome ambiance and decor, great service but inaccurate bill. Great 90-minute open bar deal, but the errors on the bill killed it. Here are the dishes we tried: 1. House white was a Pinot Grigio. It was ok but served warm. Would have been better if chilled. 2. Watermelon salad - awesome, totally recommend! 3. Ceviche - disappoints. One of the worst I have had. Soaked in a very jalapeño-spicy hot sauce. Do not recommend unless you like lots of heat in your mouth. 4. House Rose - great rose blend served nicely chilled. Awesome! 5. Lamb kebabs - the best dish of the night! Order it over the pita bred. 6. Flat iron steak -nice and tender! (We ordered Medium-rare) 7. Seabass - well cooked nice and juicy. 8. House Sangria (red) - awesome! Aged sangria where you can 9. We just went to Bacari for the second time and I'm quite impressed with the food and the service, especially for a restaurant that's only been open for a few months. Tania took great care of us and provided lots of amazing recommendations on both the drinks and the food. I tried the Olena heat which definitely had some spice to it. Last time I tried the love letter which I liked a little more. For the food, we tried a variety of things, but some of the highlights were the gnocchi, the lamb kabobs and the stuffed mushrooms. Save room for the best cake! The place was packed on a Friday night. They have live music going on upstairs. read more

We came in on a Friday evening and the place was packed. We made reservations and were seated promptly. They have an extensive menu of small dishes to share, but we decided each to get our own dishes because we were a large group of 10 people. I got the beet gnocchi and flat iron steak. Both were very good, but the meat was slightly on the tougher side. The gnocchi was fresh with a delightful goat cheese sauce. For cocktails, I had the Closer to the Sun and Love Letter, Closer to the Sun was a strong, boozy drink. I enjoyed Loved Letter which was more balanced and came with a toasted marshmallow. Service was friendly and timely despite the restaurant being very busy. The restaurant and tables are a bit cramped and it was not the most comfortable dining experience. My friend wanted to try this new spot in north park. The decor is outstanding, feels like you get transported to New Orleans. I know they are fairly new so I'm not going to be so critical on the service. Our waiter was very new and nice, we didn't get much interaction with him, another waitress stepped in. Let's talk about the food, 3 star The chicken schnitzel was hard a a rock, all breading. It was hard to cut, it was like eating a fried piece of cardboard. The whipped feta and side salad was very tasty. We ordered the olives and almonds appetizer, it needed something else to elevate the dish.The sauce on the olives was fantastic. We also ordered the pear and brie cheese pizza, was good. The pizza could have been excellent if it was cooked a bit more. The flavors were nice but very soggy. My friend had a mule, very delicious. I had a nonalcoholic ginger beer, it had so much ice, I took 3 small sips and it was done. The waitress raved about the best cake, so we ordered it. It was delicious, too sweet for me. I didn't have the bacon with it, maybe the bacon would have cut through the sweetness. Overall, it was okay The food has potential to be great if they fine tune it.
