Was in town looking for a pedicure. I looked at Yelp and saw 4.5 stars and decided to give it a try. When you walk in it's like a cross between a cluttered tailoring shop and a nail salon. The two mani pedi chairs next to me were broken and dirty. Paid $50 for a sub par pedicure. Not sure where the high reviews are coming from, but I would take your money elsewhere or just wait to get home and go to your favorite nail salon. read more

Amazing mani! I've been going to cal poly the last 4 years and never knew this place existed which is a total shame because it was the best manicure I've probably ever had in SLO. Julie was so sweet and we had a really nice conversation. She was very detail oriented and fixed and noticed every hangnail (yay dry skin in the winter) or stray bit while cutting and cleaning my cuticles. She was very gentle but efficient. Amazing! I wanted to squeeze in a visit the same day on lunch break (pipe dream!) and they were able to take me. Julie called a half hour before my appointment and was able to take me earlier if I wanted. Really cool move on her part. :) The conversation was friendly and flowed naturally. The color that I selected was a little thin, so Julie put on a third coat. I really like that attention to detail because I've had other places try to skirt by with uneven application, and that's just not cool. As you can tell by the pictures, she got right up to the edges all while keeping it nice and clean. It was $15 for a basic mani. They are open until 6 but sometimes stay open later if needed. I love Cici Nails! I was a regular here 12+ years ago when I went to Cal Poly. I recently moved back to the area and had a bad experience at another salon. I was talking about it to my friend and she reminded me, "Well, what about that place you went while we were in school?" I was so excited when I saw they were still around! I walked in expecting Larry and Julie to have no idea who I was (which would have been totally understandable- it's been a LONG time and they have a lot of customers) and much to my surprise they recognized me right away. It was like coming home! They are the sweetest people and most importantly do an amazing job. I haven't had acrylic nails in over a decade, but remembering how well they did them, I decided to give it a shot today and I LOVE them. They are exactly what I wanted. I took my husband there along with our grown daughter. My husband has a hard time taking care of his feet and so his nails were all long and gnarly. He was afraid to go and have anyone touch his feet. But Julie put him at ease, was very gentle and kind with him. She did a wonderful job on his feet. He's like a new man. This is a super cute mom and pop type location. I think it is just the two of them who work there, so sometimes it takes a little extra time but it is totally worth it! They are both super friendly and want you to really like your nails and the whole experience. I only get my nails done for special occasions and have only been here twice, with a large time span in between the two times, and they remembered me which was nice! They are both very personable and sweet! My nails look really good, and both times I went the polish lasted a while so worth the time and money! I would choose this nail salon over other's in SLO, no question! She painted one nail and made sure I liked the color I had chosen and made an effort to make my very short nails look good. A lot of places won't take the extra effort with short nails and then they don't look as good so that was very appreciated! read more

Being a central coast native, I have been in and out this place since high school (I'm now in my late 20's now). I usually tend to go to this nail salon when I have some extra time to kill in SLO. The husband and wife duo are very friendly, nice, and do a great job. If you can, try to get an appointment with them. The wife did my pedicure a couple of visits ago, and did a great job. I do agree with one of the previous reviewers in that she needed a little more "umph" with the massage and scrub. But alas, I was very satisfied. A different female employee did my last pedicure, and sadly, I wasn't as satisfied. She cut/trimmed too deep on one of my toes, and also gave me a little attitude when I asked for more polish on a few of my other toes (yes, after the double coat-- but it seemed like she weirdly missed some places). A few hours after my pedicure, I looked down at my toes, and was OK with the job. At $20 bucks a pedicure-- you can't beat that in SLO. I also go to Princess Nails in Grover, where the price is $25. If I could miraculously guarantee the wife for all of my future pedicures, I would make the 20 minute trip every time to CiCi Nails. read more

Cici nails has been around for decades and the people here are kind, courteous and incredibly professional but more importantly, they use the highest quality products. I have been to almost EVERY nail salon in SLO and this is by far the best. My acrylics never break and my gels never chip. Before our last big work event, my coworker and I went on a walk through downtown SLO in search of a place that: a) could accommodate 2 walk-in pedicures at lunchtime on a weekday and b) would not charge us $900 for said pedicures. After being turned away by the first place we passed, we decided to pop in here and try our luck. The staff indicated that they could in fact help us out on our quest for slightly less gross feet. We picked out our colors and then were kind of weirdly ushered to 2 salon chairs. My chair didn't have water in it yet, so I just perched my feet awkwardly on the edge and wondered what was happening. My coworker's pedicure started, and still I sat, waited and wondered. Eventually another staff member came over and abruptly moved me to another chair for reasons that will probably remain cloaked in mystery until the end of time, and then my pedicure actually began. Chit-chat was perfunctory, which is actually fine with me because I like not feeling pressured to talk to strangers while they're trying to fix my poor feet. The lady did an adequate job prepping ye olde toes for their polish, although I could have been ok with more attention to the exfoliating/scrubbing portion of the service. She worked quickly and quietly and seemed to know what she was doing. This was reassuring, because I had some doubts about the cleanliness of this place. Somehow the competence helped? I don't know. Then she charged me hardly anything at all, and all of my fears kind of disappeared. Saving money comes before potential health threats apparently? Summary: cleanliness looked a little sketch, service was kind of brusque but perfectly fine, price was definitely right. read more

Larry and Julie are great. They have a large following of regular customers, which tells you that they do a good job. and, important for me (busy working mom), they are fast! Larry does the best acrylic nails I've seen...I always go with French manicure because I'm too impatient for a color to dry and I end up screwing it up. People always think my nails are real (my real nails are so weak they constantly break and won't grow longer than the tips of my fingers). Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they often do call to move my appt forward or back. I guess I do appreciate that, they are respecting my time and don't want me sitting their waiting, feeling anxious. I say give them a try! read more

Felt like I was getting a manicure at a friends house albeit a messy house.
