We had a pretty good lunch here. We'd been to their sister restaurant before, the one located in Pompano a lot -- I think the first one -- but never to this "tres" or third one. The one in Pompano has now closed and I think this is the last of them in the "chain" that is still active. We came for lunch, and they had some very good lunch specials. The restaurant offers both Mexican and Spanish food. Lunch specials come with chips and salsa. They brought over a basket of chips and two different sauces -- one regular and one spicy. You can get more chips if you wish, as well. They are not stingy. Also with the lunches, you get a cup of the daily soup. The day we came there were two different ones -- cream of broccoli and chicken rice. We tried one of each. Both soups were served hot. I liked the cream of broccoli a lot. For our entrees, my husband had their ropa vieja from their Spanish options. The lunch size portion was more than ample of shredded beef with peppers and onions in a tomato-based sauce along with plantains, rice and black beans. I had their classic taco salad. In the crispy shell was shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese. You could choose different proteins, and I selected the ground beef. They also had various salad dressings, and I tried two of them -- honey mustard and an Italian vinaigrette. We both wound up taking half our lunches home as the portions were so large. Service was good even though they were quite busy, food was very good, and prices were extremely reasonable for the portions and quality. We'd definitely come back if in the neighborhood. read more

We have dined at the original Cielto Lindo many times and always had wonderful meals. The closest one to us, in Pompano, on Dixie Hwy. has closed. Luckily this one in Oakland Park is located fairly close and has ample parking. For lunch we stopped in and were immediately given a friendly greeting and seated in a close by booth. As we looked over the lunch specials we saw some of our favorite dishes. I went with the Ropa Vieja, white rice and black beans and sweet plantains. I also had the chicken soup starters and it was packed with lots of chicken. Our food was served in a reasonable amount of time as the place started to fill with other lunch time diners. Depending on what you order it will be a 3-4 star experience. I was surprised that the tostada was more like a taco salad. Chips and salsa were very good. Service was average. Pricing is lower than most places and they offer vegetarian options. One person in the party mentioned that the fajitas were mostly vegetables and little meat. Liked the guac, smooth and creamy. Sour cream is best ordered on the side as you will get quite a bit of it. Portion sizes are usually on the large side. Plenty of parking at this location. They also offer Spanish food dishes, so if Mexican isn't your thing, you will have a 2nd option. There was also a comment that the fountain drinks didn't taste right. Today I chose a burrito Lindo. With chicken and beans. As soon as you sit down, you are served chips and homemade salsa. There's plenty of food, so expect to leave very full. I came in for a Cinco de Mayo dinner. Both locations were slammed but I picked this one because it is more spacious than the Pompano outpost on Dixie Hwy. It was still half hour wait when I walked in the door but I didn't have a problem grabbing a Corona from the bar and sitting outside while I waited for a table. By the time I was seated the restaurant was actually starting to clear out. Cinco de Mayo is one of their busiest days. For dinner I enjoyed their complimentary chips and my usual order of chicken soup and fajitas. They had a mariachi band for the holiday and $5 margarita specials, frozen or on the rocks. The atmosphere was festive and I know I made the perfect choice of restaurant to dine and celebrate at. If crowds aren't your thing you can go any other night of the week and never have to wait. Met up with some relatives here for dinner on their recommendation. Made it for happy hour, so that was a plus! Grabbed a couple of $10 house margaritas and snacked on their chips and salsa. The place has a very colorful vibe - lots of orange, red, and green, you know it's intended to feel like a Mexican restaurant. Not an overly extensive menu; the Mexican consisted of mostly tacos, burritos, fajitas, a few enchilada options, steaks, and a chimichanga, and they also included some Spanish options. I'm a huge fan of chorizo so I was a bit disappointed that there was none. No birria, al pastor, or tamales that I noticed, either. We ordered a queso but it never came. I ordered the chicken enchiladas suizas, which came with beans and rice, and a side of platanos maduros, my father in law had some ground beef tacos, my wife had "el grande burrito", my mother in law and cousin both had chicken fajitas, and another cousin had mahi tacos. The food was fine, everything tasted good. It fit the expectation of American Mexican food. Service was friendly enough, if somewhat slow. For my second drink, I ordered a Mexican Painkiller, which I wouldn't get again. It was strong, but the flavors just didn't work for me and I regretted not just sticking with the margarita, which was tasty. Certainly not the worst Mexican meal I've ever had. It was just alright. This was our first time at Cielito Lindo and we loved it! The salsa and guacamole both tasted very fresh. We also got steak fajitas and a chimichanga, both were very good and we're looking forward to leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Wow, so sad to see how this place has declined so badly. Once one of the only places serving edible Mexican food in Fort Lauderdale and in our frequent rotation, tonight it was barely edible - and only because I had not eaten anything since yesterday. The "queso" was straight out of an institutional can. Really?? The salsa (both hot and mild) was essentially water and canned tomato sauce. No flavor or heat at all. The chips were stale and at least two days old. We discarded them all (including the $11 side order of chips and salsa). They forgot my taco, which may have redeemed the awful Tampico platter but likely not. The beans and rice were actually good, thank goodness. That is what I ate. The chicken tostada was served underneath the healing glob of melted cheese that I think was supposed to be a cheese enchilada. No tostada or tortilla left, if there ever was as either, they were dissolved underneath a greasy, congealed glob of cheese and some shredded chicken from the tostada. No onions on top of the enchilada, no sauce as would be typical on a cheese enchilada. Absolutely zero seasonings, spices, garnish or flavor on anything - not in the food or the salsa. The taco salad was not terrible. Not good either - pretty hard to mess up ground beef, lettuce and tomato. Very bland though and we would not order it again--but then again, that was sadly the last time we will eat here. read more

Called 4 times and was hung up on 4 times. On the 4th try Frank answered, asked if I could place an order to go and he out the phone down. This was the last hang up by the server. Arrived at restaurant, Frank was very rude and did not help me. He told me to find a server in a black shirt take the order. I didn't appreciate that. 5/10/2019 Seems like I come here when my daughter is pregnant and craving authentic Mexican food. This time it was her pregnant best friend who also having a hankering, suggested we meet here for dinner. We have all been to Mexico on business and missions work. We know authentic! The restaurant almost feels like you're walking into a Mexican house. Everyone treats you like family and live music by Spanish guitar plays in the background as you share together. Our food was phenomenal as usual. The Guadalajara Combo with a stuffed pepper is the best I've ever had! On this visit, we brought my sister and she loved it! The service is friendly and courteous. Visiting Florida I was told this restaurant was a must try. We went and it was very underwhelming. The rice, beans and maduros were great but that's easy. The steak dish I got I actually didn't eat the steak had no flavor and tough to eat. We had a party of 8 and the people who got the plancha (chicken) really liked their food. Cielto Lindo is a casual Mexican restaurant. We were served chips with 2 different salsas to start. The hotter of the two salsas was spicy and packed with flavor. The more mild salsa was a watered down pico de gallo but lacked flavor. We went to the restaurant around 9:30 and they close at 10:00. Our order came out quickly and the food was hot. I enjoyed the refried beans which were creamy and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the rice - they didn't offer the savory flavor I was hoping for. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon with chicken. The tacos were packed with big, tender pieces of well seasoned chicken. The only topping I ordered with them was guacamole and then I topped them with our left over salsa. They were served in flour tortillas and I prefer corn tortillas. We also ordered tacos with ground beef. They didn't have as much flavor as the chicken and the beans came loaded with cheese which was different than the side of beans that came with the Tacos al Carbon. read more

Cielito Lindo is still open after all these years! I had many meals in here with my family. We love the frozen strawberry margaritas. I always had the Lindo Burrito with the side of rice and beans. I was just in again (a Saturday evening) and the place was virtually empty. I don't get it. I've been to Cielito Lindo a half dozen times in the past couple of months, each time on a Friday or Saturday night, and the customers have been sparse. In my experience, over the course of those visits, the service (usually by Irena) has been friendly and prompt. The food has also arrived promptly and is always delicious. Additionally, the short wait has been very pleasant thanks to the wonderfully proficient and entertaining guitar playing and singing of Panchito. Hell, I'd go there just to sit and hear him while ordering something merely to pay for occupying the table or stool. A long time favorite place, Is now a disappointment! We would go to this restaurant at least once every two weeks before and after their fire. One of our favorite things on the menu was Milanesa de Pollo, Every time we went the manager would come to the table and say " it is his favorite too, and one of the best selling items on the menu." Many times I would see or hear other patrons ordering the same...Tonight the menu was different and one of the best selling items was missing! the removed it. Unfortunately we will not be frequent customers going forward. There are too many cheaper better options for everyday Mexican within a several block area. I visited this place in the mood for a good burrito read the reviews thought why not ... first off let's just get out there the restaurant is over price. I called this establishment and place an order for pick up, then I arrive at this location to pick up my food and the order was immediately incorrect. I informed the waiter The food was wrong after paying him . Mind you he did not give me my change back. I had to personally ask him for my change and so I brought it to his attention. that the order is wrong. which isn't a problem , could you just please be fixed ? so the waiter goes ahead and get my correct order, I head home which is only five minutes away. Get home , start to eat and somehow my order is completely wrong again I called the restaurant make them aware of the mistake that they've made brought my food back in , in order to have them make it the correct way confirming the correct ingredients .. pick up my new burrito that costs somehow $17 , arrive home to eat this burrito after having to drive back there my burrito was so oily and poorly put together I could barely eat it.. burrito falling apart. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale area. We always order the spinach queso and flan! The enchiladas and fajitas are also consistently good. Although it was considered "lunch menu" the price of $14 isn't maybe you can work on reducing the "lunch menu" to attract a bigger lunch crowd. Calling this Mexican food is a joke. I couldn't believe I was eating a tortilla it made me feel as if I was chewing gum. The "seafood fajitas" is a veggie fajita you are only going to get a plate full of peppers and 3 shrimps this place is a 0/5 doesn't deserve the 1 star.
