    Cielo Breakfast
    Rebecca E.

I visited Cielo Rooftop Lounge on 10/17-10/18 while I was in town for a gaming convention, and I'm so glad my colleague Billy recommended it. I ended up coming by both in the evening and during the daytime, and both experiences were excellent. The manager, Rafael (Rafa), was terrific; he was super easy to connect with and genuinely cared about making sure my party and I had a great time. The security team was helpful, and the bartenders were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel comfortable and fun. The night scenery was beautiful, but my favorite experience was brunch. The food was excellent, the DJ and vibes were on point, and the weather made it even better. I had the Cielo breakfast (pictured), which was absolutely delicious, and I also tried the hibachi--not pictured, but just as tasty. I definitely recommend both for brunch, and of course, you can't go wrong with the mimosas. Overall, this place is a 10/10 for me. Great service, great food, and great vibes. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in town!

First and foremost let me say that I scored an awesome groupon that gets 2 people in for bottomless mimosas and an entree each for $40. That is an incredible steal for brunch in downtown!! I'm assuming they are running this deal to get people in the building to try it out to hopefully come back and spread the word. However there were a few snags in the experience that if I wasn't getting such a good deal on the meal I probably would've rated it at 3 stars. In order to get to the roof top there's a few flights of stairs you need to go up in order to get to the elevator that takes you to the very top. The view on the roof is great and they had fun saint patrick's day decorations up with pretty loud music playing. We were sat right away but it took a pretty long time for a server to come up to us. When we got our waters they were weirdly sweet like it came out of a soda gun that didn't have the last flavor pushed out before serving our water. Once we did get our server she was very sweet and helpful. I won't lie the wait times here are pretty long but keep in mind they only have the tables and bars at the rooftop so they're relying on one (slow) elevator for food running, guests taking it down to the bathroom, etc. So it seems like they're doing the best they can, just a tad understaffed. The food was pretty decent! Good enough to want to come back and give this place another try. I got the chicken flautas and the tortillas was so crispy and delicious i just wish they served some sort of salsa/crema on the side to dip it in. My friend got the Breakfast sandwich with the side of the house potatos. She really enjoyed it, I even snagged a couple potatos to try and they were so delicious and garlicky! The mimosas come premade in a sealed bottle, I know some people are bent on getting fresh OJ with mimosas so beware if that's you! Me personally I thought it was very tasty we did 2 whole bottles with the brunch. Lastly this wasn't a major issue in the day but I think it should be noted. Our table was very wobbly and unstable. So much so that when an employee asked to take a promotional photo of us when we leaned together the table wobbled so bad knocking over our mimosa glasses right onto our laps and (luckily all finished) dishes. I don't put total blame on the restaurant for this but it could've been a real disaster if it fell on us in the beginning/ right after we waited 30 mins for our food. I definitely intend on coming back to see if it was just a bit of an off day for them as there are some other dishes that looked good plus again the groupon was such a good steal i'd purchase it for another time.

Bacon breakfast or whatever this is supposed to be. It said potatoes not French fries.

Yeah, it's a no for me dawg- Randy Jackson's voice My sister booked brunch here for her bachelorette weekend. We got here around 11am and there was still tables available. By 12pm it started it fill up. We ordered the endless mimosas that lasts two hours. The bar ran out of glasses for the juice and our waiter served us juice in plastic cups. That was strike one. We watched as other tables got their mimosas displayed properly while we kept getting plastic cups and my sister had to complain in order for the waiter to switch it out. We ordered our food and it took over an hour for it to be delivered, strike two. Then the presentation of the food was crazy. My plate was dirty, burnt, something was wrong with it, look at the photos. My friend's food was wrong. My breakfast burrito had one piece of bacon inside. We also had to hunt our waiter down for utensils, strike three. The issue is the food is made downstairs and they have to transport the food upstairs via elevator so whenever you need something they have to go up and down the elevator to get it which can take time because there is only one elevator. The manager was very nice and the music was fantastic. They play 2000s R&B. The two stars are for them. P.S. You have to be patted down by security to go inside which is something I never encountered for brunch. I asked the security why they have to do it and they said for safety reason. I asked if something recently happened there and he wouldn't answer the question. So of course I Googled the restaurant and of course something happened. Google it for yourself.

This is the one-second bartender. Remember the shirt. Avoid the bartender. Do not walk, run to the nearest exit

I bought drinks for my friends and we all walked out completely sober. The blonde in the yellow shirt pours like she is racing to keep you sober. One one thousand two one thousand three one thousand. That is how long a real shot takes. She gave us one second. I asked her what the standard pour count was. She had trouble responding. Four drinks later I was seventy bucks deep and still waiting to feel something. If you like overpaying for flavored water this is your place. If you want actual liquor in your glass go literally anywhere else in Gaslamp.

I had a fabulous date night at Cielo during golden hour with my husband. We enjoyed the welcome to the jungle flight, gyzo and the delicious steak and chicken hibachi. The service was impeccable and we will definitely be back.

Cielo continues to be a great night out. This was my third time coming here. This time it was on a Friday night during comic con. The first two times were a Thursday night and Saturday night around 10pm and it wasn't packed. There are typically a couple of groups but enough space to grab a bite to eat or to get drinks fairly quickly. This time I went was a straight up party. I got in before 10pm for free entry via tickets on eventbrite. Entrance is basically a side entrance to a building. Before there wasn't any signs but now there's a small one that says Cielo Rooftop Lounge. You get your ID checked and walk up two flights of stairs and you turn left. This takes you to the balcony view of Mr Tiempo Cantina which occupies the bottom floors. From there you can grab the only elevator that takes forever or take another stairway which is located at the back, up another two flights of stairs. Once you're on the rooftop the skyline is decently visible. Max capacity is 159 and on this night it felt like there was a 100 and it didn't feel too claustrophobic. Maybe because it was open air and there's seating at the sides. So you can feel the energy but not necessarily be bumping into everyone and feel like you're packed in like sardines. Service is okay. Nothing to spectacular. It's decently priced too. Cocktails are about 15 bucks. I like it because it feels like an upscale place but it isn't priced or feels pretentious as one. There's not a strictly enforced dress code neither. Saw a couple of people dressed in the Sunday best and a few people with a crop top and sandals. Jeans and tennis are allowed. All in all... you get this nice mixture of people and vibes. I will continue to come here on slower nights and mix in party nights here and there.

10/10 vibes, the bartenders + the drinks are such vibes, everyone's so nice and the music is great ! :)

Had such a great time at Cielo Rooftop! Came here for my sister's bachelorette brunch and it was the perfect vibe -- fun, lively, and such a cute atmosphere. The food was really good too, especially the breakfast skillet (so flavorful!). Our server Andrea was super sweet and attentive, she made the experience even better. Definitely recommend for brunch, birthdays, or any celebration!

Two margaritas for $5 you can't beat it !

Samantha has great service , was always attentive , on point. , great service , great drinks , they had lights for Halloween for the atmosphere is was so cute !

Dirty disgusting water containers. The dirt is inside.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I came to Cielo expecting a good time, but instead left angry, hungry, and baffled by the absolute disaster of what they call "service." When we sat down, we were ignored for 30 mins. Once someone came to us the first thing we were told was that we had 90 minutes. Fine. We ordered food and drinks almost immediately. Over an hour later--still no food. We kept asking our server Jas, who kept giving us the same robotic answer: "It's coming." Spoiler alert: it wasn't. Then her shift ends and Bri takes over, only to tell us--surprise!--our food was never even placed. So we've been sitting there for over 90 minutes, drinking, getting starving drunk, and waiting for food that was never even put in. When we spoke to Rafa the manager, things somehow got worse. He "generously" said he'd remove the food from our bill (gee, thanks--THE FOOD WE NEVER GOT) and that if we wanted to reorder, we'd be waiting another 1.5 hours. Seriously?!? He had the audacity to argue with us and flat-out told us, "If you don't like the service, you can leave." So we did. And then a server chased us outside telling us we had to pay--even though Rafa told us to leave. Absolute clown show. To top it all off: * Drinks were disgusting (tasted like they were mixed in a dirty mop bucket) * Cups were filthy * Music was obnoxiously loud--like, nightclub-at-midnight loud, at 12PM * The whole place felt chaotic and poorly managed This wasn't just bad service--it was incompetence and disrespect across the board. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid Cielo like the plague.

If fruity drinks are not your jam... what are you doing in a Tiki Bar!! No really, they have great options for on the rocks or straight as well as ordering your favorite cocktail or beer. They have a ton of options, all sorts of alcohol bases depending on what your vice is, they also have non-alcoholic drinks for those so inclined. Hard to pass on a Mai Tai or a Zombie to start your evening off. lately I have been enjoying the Eastern Sour which is their take on a whiskey sour. It's always fun when someone orders a bowl and the room shakes and the lights flash with thunder and lightning adding a bit of excitement for first timers. Just to recap: Don't get mad if you have to wait and did not make a reservation. While they have lots of options, most drinks and all specialties are Tiki Drinks. Tiki drinks can be strong, mind yourself. If a place like this is not your vibe, that is fine, head back into Craft & Commerce, make room for others who are waiting to get in, just have fun!

If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

Definitely make a reservation in advance through OpenTable because they fill up pretty quickly. There is also a deposit required, which you can lose if you no-show or cancel within 24 hours, but the deposit is refunded once you arrive for your reservation. When you arrive, a hostess greets you at the entrance. There's a small waiting area where you can sit until they come get you. Then there's a door where you press a button, and it opens to bring you into the restaurant/bar. Inside, there's a mix of tables and bar seating, and they serve food in addition to having an extensive cocktail menu. The drink menu was definitely the highlight for me. There were so many creative and unique cocktails that really stood out. I'm usually not a huge cocktail person because I don't like overly sweet drinks, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find cocktails that are both original and sophisticated enough to actually sip and enjoy. They definitely nailed that here. I tried several: *Kasato Maru: This was so smooth and absolutely delicious. By far my favorite. You could really pick up the St. Germain elderflower and pear, and the flavors worked beautifully together. Definitely one of my favorites. *Sunomono: This was more liquor-forward, but still incredibly smooth. Definitely a good choice if you want something that lets the spirits shine. *Je Ju: Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. It had a really unusual flavor that just didn't work with my palate, and my friend wasn't a fan either. I'm usually not one to send a drink back, but the staff was fantastic about it. They happily took it back and made me a completely different cocktail. *Softly Spoken: My friend ordered this one, and it came in a glass filled with small ice cubes. I tried it and thought it was really good, but it wasn't quite my personal preference. It definitely had more of a fruity flavor profile. The food looked absolutely amazing although we didn't eat here this time. There are still so many cocktails on the menu that I want to try so I'll definitely need to come back. The atmosphere is dimly lit, intimate, and full of character. It has that cool, moody feel that makes you want to sit back, sip a cocktail, and stay awhile. And the service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, this was such a fun experience. Great atmosphere, creative cocktails, excellent service, and plenty more on the menu I still want to try. I can't wait to come back!
