They use a nacho cheese sauce which i normally dont like... But, it doesn't taste like nacho cheese at all. Pretty standard Mexican fare. Absolutely worth going and grabbing a burrito if you're in the mood for Mexican food and you're here in the shopping center. Not sure I'd make a special trip back though, it's sort of a dime-a-dozen and nothing stood out as exceptional. The guacamole was a bit sub-par, and tasted like it was from Safeway. We moved a year ago and sadly moved away from the OG Cinco De Mayo on Pacheco Blvd. Then to my burrito loving delight they opened this location. While not walking distance like the other location was, this ones closer to my new house. The Guacamole is made exactly the same. The Crispy Chicken tacos still crispy and seasoned perfectly. We had a little get together one night and ordered food for 8 over the phone. It was ready in 20 minutes. Hot and fresh. My son inhales the Guacamole. He judges all other Guac's to Cinco De Mayo standards. My standard is the Fiesta Chicken Burrito. I eat half for dinner and save half for breakfast. One of my favorite types of breakfasts. During a recent post-strike grocery run to Nob Hill, I noticed that Cinco de Mayo had opened up a new Martinez outlet. I've eaten Lunch at the Pacheco location for years and finally had the chance to try out the new location for Dinner tonight (To Go). This Cinco de Mayo is a work in progress, of which I'll be back to taste its progress. The interior decor is a little too suburban sterile and doesn't have that gritty former gasoline station and bustling County/Refinery worker Lunch vibe that I enjoy so much about Pacheco. Honestly, we initially tried this place because Los Panchos was closed and this is near where my parents live. Oh, and we didn't feel like Kinders. The person who helped us was very friendly and patient while I debated my order. Service and receiving our order were quick. It seems like they have worked out a lot of their kinks from their first couple weeks of business. The chips and guacamole are solid. The chips were nice, crispy and not greasy and the guacamole was chunky with mostly avocado and bits of tomato, onion, etc. A pretty standard guac. I got a bean, cheese and rice burrito which was really good. Los Panchos is still my favorite but Cinco de Mayo's will do just fine. While we waited for our order my honey and I noted how many other menu items sounded delicious. My honey enjoyed his combo with lots of chicken things. They have a nice self-serve salsa bar with mild, medium (verde), and hot plus a few other items for topping your dishes. RANT I picked up dinner Thursday night at Cinco de Mayo on Center Ave. My Chili Relleno wasn't cooked the chili was still raw. I called Cinco to tell them about it and asked if I could have a credit on my next order. The woman on the phone said you need to bring back the relleno, I said I don't want to drive back can you just give me a credit on my next order. She said we need to see the relleno ourselves we can't just take your word that it wasn't cooked. Mind you we are talking a $4.00 item. I was so disappointed in their customer service. This place is ehhh. Honestly, pretty generic tasting mexican food. For the price, and how much I got in terms of volume it was not all that great... I did a take out order, the lady on the phone was super friendly, and when I picked it up the four ladies at the front desk rang me up and all had smiles. This review is mainly about the quality and taste of the food. The salsa bar is a bit small, mild, medium and hot. I got the special taco combination. Came with 3 different soft tacos, carnitas, beef and I belief marinated pork. The meat quality was probably 4/5 stars, I could not taste anything else really. The tortillas were pretty dry on the taco. Came with small serving of rice and beans (which were also pretty dry)... Maybe my expectations were pretty high, but I honestly wanted some authentic mexican food, but this did not satisfy my craving. My barometer of greatness of carnitas is perhaps a strange one, but hear me out: do they remind me of a perfectly cooked Thanksgiving turkey? Consider: a slow cook, loaded with flavors only infused by time. Juicy, mouthwateringly melty in your mouth, maybe even a little stringy in the best way. Some crisp on the edges where the heat really did its job. Am I loco? Probably. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Cinco de Mayo, formerly Chavinda, delivered on my autumnal scale. Their carnitas quesadilla was packed pull of perfectly cooked and seasoned juicy meat, with some good crispy bits to provide awesome texture. Complemented by instead of overwhelmed by the quality cheese, toasty on the outside, and served with perfect amounts of sour cream, guac and pico de gallo for cool fresh contrast. Heaven! I also ordered a crispy chicken taco, to have an impromptu taco-off with Cinco and my beloved Los Panchos. Los Panchos' chicken is a bit more flavorful, but Cinco tops theirs with tomatos and a little guac along with the shredded cheese and lettuce, so it's more well-rounded. I also thought Cinco's taco was ultimately a bit greasier. Still very tasty though! The quesadilla, taco and a bottle of Mexican Coke came out to less than $11 - I dined in and the food seemed to be a little slow coming out compared to other patrons, but there were also a lot of burritos being ordered and I know those come together a lot quicker than my order. Ive really tried to like this place, due to its convenience. That being said... this salty ass, stale carne asada, dirty place will never see my business again. From the flies inside the restaurant, to the horrible staff. Today I went to order a burrito. When I got there, their credit card processing machine was down. Ok... I can appreciate that, and it being out of their control; no problem, I had cash. So, I get my cash out, and go to order and the power goes out. Ok... I can appreciate that also. They say they can't take any orders as their registers a closed, and can't give change. No problem, I offered to round up. I just wanted a damn burrito. I walk out, and PG&E sends a text that power will be out till 1030pm. I walk in to let the manager know, as she's on the line with them to report the outage, and this bitch is taking orders from other customers, but won't take mine. There #4 street taco combo is bomb , I order 2 tacos Of Alpastor and 1 of Asada, I ask for the meat to be Extra Crispy and to add Pan seared chopped onions with the green salsa on them! I call it the "Ricardo Special" Best freaking tacos in the area! Also their Enchilada platter with Chili verde for the meat and the red sauce on top with Cheese!!!! I live nearby and I probably go here like 2-3x a month. I ALWAYS order crispy beef tacos and get chips while I wait. Today, I ordered a dozen crispy tacos to go and the lady that took my order had an attitude. I had to ask her for some chips, she looked at me and took a couple of seconds to respond. The place is clean which is already a big plus when you walk in. Best Mexican food in Martinez!! We ordered take out last week and are already craving Cinco again. We ordered the chips and salsa (SO GOOD, we put the salsa on everything we ordered), three street tacos (carnitas, carne asada and al pastor), a chicken enchilada and a super carnitas burrito (such a good deal for the price, the burritos are huge!). All the meat was cooked perfectly, had a ton of flavor and was very juicy! Already planning in Cinco into our next take-out meal! I've been noticing for the past six months or so, the quality of both staff and food on a decline. I ordered a carne asada burrito two days ago. I always order the same thing( for the past 3 years). It had about 10 small pieces of meat in it and all shoved at one end. This is the SIXTH time this has happened!!! I talked to the "management" and was told "sorry we can't control that". SERIOUSLY!! You make the food right?!? Unfortunately, I will no longer be frequenting this location. I will still go to the Pacheco location. Thankfully, they still produce a quality product. Trying to support local businesses and I should have known better. Food is okay, the one on Pacheco is better than the one by Nob Hill, portions etc. Budgeted for dinner, looked at menu on line and called to order. When I got there the total was over $10 more than I expected. I asked why and her answer was because two items were super burritos. I told her I didn't order "super" burritos and she replied that I didn't specify so the assumption is for the super. A big assumption on her part I said. The other two meals were substantially more also but she wouldn't address that when I asked. Told her those weren't the prices listed online. She ignored me. Paid, begrudgingly and came home.
