    bam bam shrimp and fries

The bam bam shrimp was delicious! They let me plate my appetizer as a meal :) We came on a Friday night specifically for fish and we enjoyed our meals. The service was friendly and the drink menu was impressive too - we had the espresso martini (YUM!) and the Packer Backer - both very good.

This was the last place I ate while in Wisconsin and I wish I would have found it sooner. We all enjoyed our food and drinks. The waitress was great too! Great place to grab and bite and relax.

Atomosphere: Multilevel just like their other location on Wisconsin, but it is much larger. The parking lot is a bit of a cluster to navigate when it is busy. There are tall wooden booths throughout providing some intimacy to your evening. There is a large bar area up front by the kitchen so you can watch the magic of food happen. The bathrooms were very clean and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of them. Service: We called ahead to make a reservation/get on the wait list and were seated immediately when we arrived. The host was very helpful even though she was managing about 30 people waiting for seats. Our server was slammed, but kept our drinks coming, our water glasses full, and got us out of their quickly after the meal. Food: The food was just as good as their other location and it came out fast and hot. We really enjoyed the menu set up here vs. the location on WI, it was very easy to navigate in regards to drinks and food. If we are on this side of town, we know this is a great place to eat that keeps their consistency and quality at great standards.

This place is exactly what it looks like from the outside. Nothing fancy, tables and booths and a countertop. Exactly the type of place you can find fresh burgers on great rolls. I would highly suggest the steak sandwich and waffle fries. The steak is so big you can actually have a bite or two before you get to the bun! Great charcoal flavor. Specials each day of the week, including fish and ribs along with a soup or two. I believe they have salads for the non-meat eater but I never got to that part of the menu!

Always enjoy Cinders awesome steak sandwich. I also like tuna steak salad. Wings were good bigger than most places. Kids eat $1.99 many salad and sandwich choices and great Friday fish fry one choice is all you can eat

This place has good food but it's great for the value if you have kids. I like that they source ingredients from local businesses, you can never go wrong with Manderfield's Bakery products for example. I'd say it's better fare overall than nearby chain style restaurants. The difference maker for me was this: gookids meals on Monday-Thursday are just a couple bucks. Then they include a free sundae if they clean their plates. With two little boys, that means we can eat at a sit down restaurant and I can get a good meal and keep it under $20 including tip. That is very hard to beat. We decided we'll have to make a stop here into a regular event.

    Well done?

We arrived around 4:30 pm on a Wednesday and were seated immediately for the two of us, which was lovely. I started with a filthy martini (one part vodka, one part olive juice)... and they nailed it. Exactly what I asked for. My mom ordered a whiskey old fashioned press, which she enjoyed. For appetizers, we ordered the French onion soup, deep-fried mozzarella, and bacon-wrapped scallops. My mom also had the soup of the day, which was a turkey pot pie soup. Everything was very good overall. One small note on the scallops, and this is important for context: I personally have a strong aversion to seafood, and my mom is usually careful not to order seafood around me because even the smell can make me nauseous. However, scallops are usually an exception, as they don't tend to have a strong seafood odor. In this case, there was no unpleasant smell at all, which I appreciated. That said, the scallops themselves appeared under-seared and very pale, and the bacon was undercooked. Not raw, just soft and not crispy. My mom agreed it could have used a few more minutes. A minor miss, but worth mentioning. For my entrée, I ordered the French dip, which came with carrots... and honestly, the carrots deserve their own moment. They were tiny, perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, buttery, and balanced with just the right amount of sweet and salty. I love carrots, and these were exceptional. Highly recommend. My mom ordered a Wednesday special trio, which included barbecue ribs, pineapple glazed ham, and a turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I'll note that the ham itself was delicious, but the pineapple glaze wasn't quite for me personally, as it leaned a bit too tangy for my taste. That said, the turkey was phenomenal. I had a bite, and it was moist, flavorful, and absolutely something I'll come back for. The mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent. I love stuffing, but this one wasn't my favorite; it tasted slightly sour or underdone to me, though that could simply be a preference thing. I'd still order the turkey dinner again without hesitation. Because it was my birthday, our server Jenny surprised me with a slice of chocolate cake, which was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I was very full... but yes, I ate the cake, and it was delicious. We also split a Pink Squirrel for dessert, which was rich, nostalgic, and the perfect way to end the meal. Service was excellent throughout the evening. Jenny was warm, attentive, and paced everything perfectly. Food came out efficiently without overwhelming the table. The hostess was also welcoming and kind. The dining room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The lighting was just right, not too dark. We also arrived at a great time, because shortly after our entrées came out, the restaurant quickly filled up. One small suggestion: the website mentions half-price apps and drink discounts, but it isn't clear that those specials are bar-area only. Not a huge issue for us, but clearer wording online would help manage expectations, especially for guests who can't sit at high bar seating. Overall, this was a really special dinner, especially after years of hearing about the Red Ox and never going. More positives than negatives by far. Final rating: 8.5 / 10 We'll absolutely be back... especially for the turkey dinner and those carrots.

We had fun listening, even though we were sitting at the bar. Dinning experience was only so-so however. Thing I really liked was the French Roquefort dressing (for salad). My Prime Rib was better than average, but my wife's steak was so underdone (for her, medium well tastes) the center was not even medium rare! Her Haddock was tasty however. We both also ordered hash browns as a side, my wife's browns came out first and they were great. I was told that that mine would be out in a minute. What came out was definitely freezer burnt, gray and oily. My browns did not even look like my wife's, and tasted terrible. Because we had plenty to eat, I just shared my wife's and left mine. I did show the waitress. . She told me I should have told her earlier, she would have had them remake them. That would have been great if she would have been at the table more than the one time she said "how are the first few bites". Never got a refill on my water, even though I asked. (It's funny... she did ask if she could refill my alcoholic beverage multiple times when that was empty!) I'll say we did really enjoy the barroom entertainment, dining experience... maybe not so much. Plus.. kind of thought that when I didn't eat my hash-browns that my wife didn't eat most of her steak that maybe they would have offered a dessert or something....

The employees were warm, friendly, and professional, and they seemed to know exactly how often to check in without interrupting our meal. They spaced out our drinks, appetizers, and entrees just the right amount. Our server Andrew was particularly great. We had a soda flight of their craft sodas for a super super reasonable price, and every single soda was spectacular. We're spoiled in the craft soda department by virtue of living in Wisconsin (Sprecher, Potosi, etc), but this was definitely the best craft soda we've had. Even the wacky flavors like blue raspberry were rich and flavorful--they didn't taste overwhelmingly artificial. I cannot recommend their soda enough, although I imagine their craft beer is pretty good too! We also had a delicious mocktail, which always goes a long ways in impressing us. All of our food was reasonably priced and so, so, fresh and delicious. The Bavarian pretzel with the beer cheese was heavenly!! We loved our entrees as well. Even something simple like the fries were perfectly done--fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. Everything we had their was top notch, and despite the number of things we ordered, our bill was not very high at all (about $50 for a mocktail, a craft soda flight and a soda pint, an appetizer and two entrees.

There's a level of pride in the work that he does that screams unreasonable hospitality (IYKYK) and paced my courses out beautifully.
